    Just wanted to give you a little insight as to what I think as a new viewer. These videos are absolutely spectacular, you get very to the point, your tips are without very useful & without withholding any information (as to be secretive to strategies to remain a great player) you hint on a lot of things in this series of tutorials that helps a TON.
    There was a lot that when I first started playing over a year ago, that I didn't understand. I sort of put the game aside for a while and just recently reinstalled, amazing. And it wasn't until today that I actually delved deeper into how things worked, the battle movements video, being able to synchronize attack orders and just move with less micro management has helped a LOT.
    There was a lot that I was doing out of developed capability, I've played strategy games for a while and I'm a pretty heavy gamer in general that I didn't quite understand. As to why a certain formation let me hold out much longer etc.

    • @TheFishRDrowning
      @TheFishRDrowning 8 років тому

      Or why for example yesterday when I had a 20% win & 80% loss auto resolve ratio and I went in and battled it out I won by a landslide. I was able to maneuver my troops to kind of hold a front line in a tight space against their 2500 something troops, to my 1200 and I basically split my force in half, and worked my way around the building and behind their force and absolutely demolished them with only 190 men lost. Slaughtering almost 2400 of them. I was amazed. This game has a lot of depth and mechanics that are more than just this much attack this much defense. I love playing as Rome so far, they're kind of a stand your ground and deal a lot of damage type of faction. It fits my play style, however I love to out maneuver and just decimate forces as well. So I get handy with what I've had and I've won some pretty scale tipped battles. Which always leave me beyond satisfied.

    Recently purchased Rome 2 on a Steam sale. Scouring UA-cam for beginner/intermediate level videos to understand the game and do well. Your beginner videos are the best that I have found. Very informative and easy to understand. A BIG thank you, sir! Subscribed to your channel and eager to learn more! Then off to conquer the ancient world! :)

    8:58 Oh this is the thing I needed! I wonder how do you do this thing in older games? Say, I want to move entire army in formation, but don't want to make them into one group. I always do those crescent setups to envelop the enemy and flank with cav in the read but if I make them move forward they stop maintaining the formation. Dragging to keep it works here, but before Rome 2?

    Just got this game... is there anything like this for the campaign? I started as Iceni, got going okay... then I tried Rome, and... tf?
    I'd love a step by step guide/demonstration/let's play showing how to manipulate the politics, manage buildings, advice on what to build when, and the reasons behind it all.

    • @KasumiRINA
      @KasumiRINA 12 днів тому

      Yup, in older games management is very simple but combat is complex, Rome 2 simplifies combat controls but management is overwhelming, it's like Civ now, but cities have shared money pool for production (like it was in older TWs) so prioritizing is harder. Also the skill trees don't have hints on what might be better.

    Hey Heir, I love your videos, I am somewhat new to Rome II so they have been pretty helpful for me.
    Is there an easy way in game, preferably when recruiting units to see if they have javelins? It seems like important information but as far as I can tell isn't listed anywhere.
    Thanks.

      Hotshots2890 Just as the game is about to die out? Now there may be an argument but its obvious that there will be more players on Atilla then R2TW. Also there is something called doing new guides whenever there is a patch... Plus I'm pretty sure the interface was the same a year ago.

    Because I am sure many German speaking people also watching this fine LP since not many folks do this pain sticking work to make things easier for others. "HeirofCarthage" you are my hero !

    What weapons are good against which? IE spears vs sword vs pikes.

    • @KasumiRINA
      @KasumiRINA 12 днів тому

      Nobody answered this for a DECADE? Spears beat cavalry, cavalry bears archers, archers beat swords, swords beat spears... GENERALLY.
      Also ranged foot troops are bad against armor, BUT they're the about the only thing to stop ranged cavalry, which otherwise beats everything.
      Oh and javelins beat elephants and weaken everything else.

    Rome 2 is certainly not going out of date. I mean, sure Attila is out, but Rome 2 has had almost 2 years to mature like a fine wine (and got patched extensively). I would argue campaign is at it's best now, with a truly amazing experience possible if you play each faction to their strengths and at a difficulty you find challenging.

    I downloaded "Rome 2:Emperor Edition" from Steam and I'm just about to give up on it. First problem is the prologue. You can only get thru Chapter One. Chapter 3 is impossible. The main problem is, you are out numbered. I thought at first it may be my gameplay but on checking various forums on the Internet I found many people have had the same problem.
    I've also found it hard to beat other armies. It doesn't matter what manoeuvre I try I can never beat anyone. Managing the cities is no problem, once you get used to it.
    I also play Napoleon and Empire and have very little problem making progress in gaining territory and winning battles..

    • @shaynemc7533

      Only if you are completely new to the series. Rome 1 is an exceptional game, if you begin the series by playing Rome 2 then because of the graphical improvements this game has in comparison, you may find it hard to go back. And you would be missing out.
      There are many aspects of Rome 2 which are better than it's predecessor. There are also many aspects of Rome 1 which are better than it's successor.
      I do not know which laptop/computer you currently have, but you might be able to run Rome 1 on it no problem, connect it up to a monitor/TV.
      I would start there. It has held up well enough. You wouldn't regret starting with Rome 1 believe me, you might regret it if you begin with Rome 2, and never go back and play the first in the series. It's probably selling pretty cheap. Well worth it. And it will give you a head-start come May when you do upgrade your laptop.
      I won't take any responsibility if you boot up Rome 1 and are glued to your laptop, addicted. Friends are family wonder where you are, you're up all night, you don't sleep, for Rome. :-)

    • @Crouchy232323

      Rasdanda I've only just found the Total War series in the past year. Instead of diving straight into Rome 2 (needed to build a PC first!!) I started with Rome 1, on my laptop, hooked up to a screen. I made the right choice. Not only did I get to enjoy Rome 1, by the time I bought Rome 2, it was in a much, much better state than at release. I could have been put off both by purchasing Rome 2 on release.
      Also why I won't be preordering or purchasing Attila at release. Let it be patched and balanced. I've got 10 years of Total War to catch up on!! :-)

      Heir told me that older games don't work on his PC, that's why he stopped doing throwback Thursdays :(

    • @jasonyang5413
      @jasonyang5413 9 років тому

      RiechMarshall Nimitz Really? I miss throwback thursdays... oh well later on maybe a few months to half a year after Attila is released heir might do throwback thursdays on Rome 2 and maybe resume Parthian Patchy and/or This is Total War...

    • @HNW00
      @HNW00 9 років тому

      Jason Yang Cause I used to keep on asking heir for throwback Thursdays however he told me he it wasnt comaptible anymore. However, just like you said, maybe he could do throwback thursday with R2

    • @jasonyang5413
      @jasonyang5413 9 років тому

      Seems like i wasnt alone. And if he does R2 throwbacks do you think he'll go back to the campaigns i mentioned or will he just do battles?

    • @HNW00
      @HNW00 9 років тому

      Jason Yang Probably only battles. Campaigns take a lot of episodes and Throwback Thursday is only once a week. So a campaign of R2 might take up to a year(5 episodes)

    I keep checking how many players are on Atila and Rome 2 there are more players on Rome 2 then Atila about 1000 player difference

      Is Atila a bad game then? I used to watch my brother play medieval total war agea ago but I have only really played rome 2 and was considering getting Atila but im not sure is it worth it?

    • @TomCMFGamingChannel
      @TomCMFGamingChannel 9 років тому

      Jack Lee I don't like Atila that much because you don't get to see the real romans land spartans with their cool looking armour and shields but I hear its better then Total War rome 2

    Who thinks that campaign in Atilla is going to be better than campaign in rome 2?
    I think that campaign is going to be very bad because of extended army and character managment. I like to fight battles, I don't like to pick traits for character and waste time on things like family influence and agent traits. I think that makes campaign boring.

    • @Crouchy232323
      @Crouchy232323 9 років тому

      If it makes you care for your family members, generals and armies then the campaign map has done it's job in my opinion. That is all it needs to do.
