I was going to say the same; he just really enjoys cars. He doesn't seem like other car reviews here on youtube (2theredline) who seem so cynical at times, calling themselves car enthusiasts. Really enjoy watching this guy
Ive owned this car for 4 years now, I will say yes, it feels like it wants to be pushed hard all the time. The steering has a very quick ratio and better feel than any car ive ever driven. It is not "too edgy" I think this car is the perfect setup. I bought an Si because i wanted a fun to drive and eager little car, this car was the best and does not get old!!! Ive driven the new 2013 civic si sedan and it was boring to me after an hour. The 2012+ civic si is much more boring to drive, however does have more flashy interior features which I really do not care for. In regards to the clutch mentioned in this video, this car may have had something wrong with it... Judging by the ghetto exhaust this Si may have had 68000 of hard beating on it which may have influenced the review as well. The clutch is a tad heavier than the newer models, but honestly its a better feeling. If you buy a 06-11 Si you wont be disappointed, If you want a more boring and quieter daily driver, get the 2012+ civic Si, simple as that!
+Siege I own both a 15 GTI, and a 2010 Civic Si. I disagree that the GTI is better all around. More confidence inspiring? Yes. Better? Not necessarily. They're so very different cars and both so great for different reasons.
I'm currently in the market for a sporty fun four door. I have an '05 Mustang GT that I'm not driving much because it's difficult to get my two year old in her rear facing child seat in the Mustang. We just use my wife's car or my double cab truck. I'd like to trade the '05 for a four door that is about equal in value to keep for around 4 years and then I'll probably get a '15+ Mustang GT once my daughter is old enough to crawl in and out of the back seat herself. So here's the question...2010+ Mazdaspeed 3, 2009+ WRX, 2007+ GTI or 2008+ Civic Si? I'd prefer the power of the turbo cars but I'm worried about reliability, especially reliability of the VW. I think the MS3 is my favourite, I like that is has great power, heated seats and dual climate control. I feel the Honda is the underpowered but reliable choice. Any advice from actual owners is appreciated...
Good starter or 2nd vehicle for those who want to get into something for more spirited driving. Cheap to buy these used, cheap to insure, cheap to repair, and quite reliable. Easy to drive in the city since it has favorable dimensions, but still great interior room due to efficient design. Visibility is also great as mentioned in the video, which makes a huge difference compared to a lot of cars these days. Old radio buttons is also quite refreshing to use compared to terrible $10 smartphone-equivalent touchscreen designs of today, even on so-called luxury cars.
Can you make a review of the 2013 -14 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T or 3.8? And if you review the 2.0T can you compare its handling with your BRZ;) haha Thanks!
I had an 09 si coupe. And personally I think it had the best seats ever. I can't say too much about performance cause mine was tuned and had some goodies. I think it was good for any car, I would drive it over most any cars out there.
I owned a 2008 SI 4 door with navi. Was a great car. Traded it in after it hit 97'000 miles. AC pump failed. Wiper motor failed. Replaced breaks. Didn't even have to, but the rotors rusted out at 75'000 miles. I loved that car. Always fun. You could drive the weals off, without getting arrested. Picked up a 2016 WRX. Also loved that car. Much nicer overall, but not as fun. I missed that edgy power band.
I owned this car 10 years ago and have regretted selling it ever since and I LOVE the transmission/clutch combo in the Si. It's the best manual I've ever driven and I've driven many.
Thats crazy you think it has "the best visability" ive been driveing one for the last two weeks and itd the worst vissability ive ever been in, the a pillers are so massive , you cant see shit when your turning.
+Photosbydrew710 All newer cars are like that. I drove a fiesta st and I could not see anything. It felt like I was in a box with eyeholes to see out of.
it has the biggest front windshield in any sedan i've ever seen, partly because the engine bay is so small upfront Visibility is excellent for a sedan.
I would love to see more "normal" cars, eg. a 2006 base model Civic Coupe instead of the 09 Si, more of a car most of us can afford. Thanks, and congrats on (almost) 200K!
I have a stock 2011 Civic Coupe {EX 1.8L (Manual)} I have a very short clip of me in it on my channel. To be honest, I've raced a 2010 Civic Si Sedan (One like in the video) and stayed ahead until I hit about 65mph (midway through my third gear). The only reason K could think as to why I wa able to stay ahead that long is because my car weighs in at about 2500lbs give or take, and the Si Sedan is very near 3000lbs. Another reason why I question why people got the sedan Si when the coupe is significantly quicker.
Yes! I owned a 06' and loved it, but tried out an 09' and hated the clutch travel and the throws. Didn't really feel like you were really shifting, haven't tried out a 13' but I'm hoping they fixed that.
I pulled up one of these at my work the clutch was really heavy but i liked that it was short travel but accelaration was very smooth and responsive i wish i would have gotten one of these instead of the ford fiesta i currently have
I think these years are the best looking Civic Si 's ever made, ya probably think that the Civic type R is pretty and I think it is ugly as Hell designed by a 13 year old kid..
I got an 08 Civic Si coupe, and I don’t think I’ll ever sale it. Put Catback Exhaust and a Cold Air Intake on it and it’s a blast to drive. You definitely have to drive it like you stole it to drive fast, but that’s the thrill with the K series engine.
For enthusiasts who plan on 1st time owning the retiring 8th gen. Civic Si's, which there probably will be like how some people today can only afford to drive 6th gen Civics, I strongly recommend that you install coilovers, an air intake, a header, 3in. exhaust, ECU tuning, a very thick rear sway bar ie. progress, front strut tower bar, performance brake parts, performance radiator, and lighter wheels + wheel locks as the MINIMUM. With low torque + power, front end body roll, quick understeer, heat soak, and heavy weight, the Civic Si reaches its perforance limit very quickly and will be very disappointing. Remember, it is Sport Injected not Type R tuned from the factory. The car drives only sportier than average compact cars and regular trim Civics and is not a proper performance, 4 cylinder sports car. It does have a legendary K20Z3 engine but its popularity and performance are overhyped. For example, its oem parts like brakes, suspension, & sway bars are only slightly thicker than the EX Civic's parts thus revealing its mild tuning. Seriously, just look them up; they're not that different from each other. The 8th gen Si needs aggresdive mods and tuning in order to perform very well if you're an enthusiast.
The only real reason to buy the RSX is for looks and the hatch. Refreshed RSX-S (05-06) is going to be more expensive than an 06 Si which is a much better performer. The motors are nearly identical, but flashpro > kpro. The 8th gen has a far better chassis and will handle much better, especially if you want to modify your suspension. And of course the Si comes stock with an LSD which is a wonderful thing on backroads.
I owned two Civics before I bought my V8 Challenger. But just last week I dropped $4k on a used, 200k+ mile 08 Si. I was putting too many miles on my Challenger and needed a secondary vehicle. Always wanted an Si. Plus, I desperately wanted to learn to drive Stick. After a week of driving this thing, I'm having a blast. Really starting to get a feel for manual. Finally taking off smoothly and rev-matching. This is a hell of a fun car to drive. Obviously, it's no HEMI. But due to its light weight and VTEC, it manages to be a thrilling ride. I think I'm going to drive this thing until it disintegrates. Or until I find a Type-R for a good price. When I'm ready to upgrade my Challenger, I'll have no fears of going manual. :)
dude this guy expects to much for a 2009 honda pastic door handle of course dude!!!! its not fucking gold bro damn this is a review does it say on the title my opinion on the honda so relax bro this isnt a luxury car its a daily driver.

I love my 08 Civic Si Sedan. I do have to say though, I love driving it every day. It's perky and decently quick. You're reviews are awesome. Keep them coming
Hey SubaruWRXFan, I am looking to buy a new car for myself. I was wondering if you could review the new Subaru Forester XT. It looks like you can't get your hands on new cars but if you it would be amazing and greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work, I watched your videos since the day you picked up your BRZ. You have come a long way. Congratulations.
Good review, and good catch about the clutch pedal travel. It came from the factory like that.. and it requires you to adjust the pedal to get the best throw... i
Thanks Matt! For reviewing this car. There's like hardly any review for the 8th gens. Really appreciate your feedback about the car because I'm in the market for one. :)
Vtec only cam technology that takes advantage of the lift and timing aspects. add the I-vtec and the low speed cam can advance or retard up to 50° depending on engine load, rpm etc. i miss these na civic si
This is kinda funny, it could be my old car. I traded in the exact year, color, model and level car in 2011 at a dealership in Pa. And few of that configuration were produced.
Great review Matt and just wanted to say thanks for the awesome hangout on Monday. You stayed up way later than you needed to in order to hang out with us to talk about cars. You are by far one of the most considerate and caring youtubers out there. I've watched your videos for years and keep up the great work!
The 8th gens will always be a very driver oriented vehicle. It likes to have every input available to use from the drivers experience. The more u drive this car the more u feel it come alive which provides a very rewarding feeling when u drive it excellently I drove all my friends 8 th gens and bought a four door si a week ago best car I’ve ever driven
I’ve owned 08 coupe si for 5 years when I was 171/2 I’m 27 now went threw like 8 different cars now I have a 2020 Bmw m340i my dream car and just coped a barn find 07 fa5 civic si down my street been eyeing it and it just needed a clutch bought for under 3k in 2023. Perfect combo of cars in my eyes and I’ve tried all kinds of cars
139lb ft torque. What a huge fail. What a shame...its not the hp you feel when u take off..its the torque...hows anyone suppossed to be blown away by 139?????
Torque is the amount of pressure it takes to rotate an object....so if your accelerating then your axle is rotating as is the wheels...so torque is still what keeps you accelerating my friend
Perfect combo of cars in my eyes and I’ve tried all kinds of cars 8th gen si will always have a place with me a good friend of mine had 8th gen as well in Highschool R.I.P Jeremy and so did my cousin who was a year older , we started a 8th gen only crew , some of the best memories I had , races meets , cruises etc Long live a real generation of cars after this a lot of car brands weren’t the same
I’ve had my 8th gen since 2013 got it stock now 500whp e85 turbo ssr wheels only 86k miles on it and have no intentions on getting rid of it anytime soon
Dude...please. The correct pronunciation for the engine gauge that measures revolutions of the crankshaft per minute is "tack-"amm-a-ter....not "tock"-amm-e-ter. My God man...get it right ??
The fact that Honda VTEC engines have like no torque, that's what makes it so fun, to be able to rev that engine out and hear that engine~~ Classic Honda~~
i have an 08' SI with slightly higher mileage. thing runs like new still. HFP suspension really tightens up the suspension problem. That exhaust....wtf?!?! not even close to stock. 2.0L engine is better than the newer 2.4L imo. a lot more fun. Flashpro fixes that lul b4 Vtec as well
I laughed pretty hard when you said this car had an aftermarket exhaust system and cut to the short clip showing a rusty ass exhaust tip lol
Hot cheetos man
I mean...it was aftermarket
Got me 💀😂
Haha

the rust makes it sound more crisp
That VTEC cracked a smile. I love it

The exhaust is like a home made one
rusty and shitty just like a street hooker's cuuter

that insurance company sounds retarded
Yeah I can’t find an Si anywhere near me for under $10k and they’re all clapped out.
''Intresting'' exhaust.

bobbyredskins21 Genesis can't compare to the BRZ in any department except maybe interior cubic inches and 0-60 time.
I own a 2007 with over 200k miles and it's still running strong !
I have a prelude but I wanted something a little more fuel efficient. How is the si on gas?
Its pretty good I like to hit the vtec a lot so I average around 17-20 city on the highway I got as high as 31

Love my 07 si coupe. Great review
great review! i really want one of this civics.
should I buy a 2009 Honda Civic for 5300 with 160,000 miles?
Personally I'd rather get the '05 with less miles
I get this car next week! so excited!
lolol that exhaust wtf
What kind of homemade shitty exhaust was that?
139lb ft torque. What a huge fail. What a shame...its not the hp you feel when u take off..its the torque...hows anyone suppossed to be blown away by 139?????
Torque is the amount of pressure it takes to rotate an object....so if your accelerating then your axle is rotating as is the wheels...so torque is still what keeps you accelerating my friend
They should of made the si interiors better. Add a bit more expensive feel to in with better materials since it's a higher end model
looking at potentially getting this as my first jdm/manual car. such a good and fun looking car when modded

Are you trying to get hired at cars.com?
Should do a 2008 Honda civic 4dr Si Mugen edition that car is sexy
I’ve had my 8th gen since 2013 got it stock now 500whp e85 turbo ssr wheels only 86k miles on it and have no intentions on getting rid of it anytime soon
Dude...please. The correct pronunciation for the engine gauge that measures revolutions of the crankshaft per minute is "tack-"amm-a-ter....not "tock"-amm-e-ter. My God man...get it right ??
that muffler.lol what a pos.
The fact that Honda VTEC engines have like no torque, that's what makes it so fun, to be able to rev that engine out and hear that engine~~ Classic Honda~~
Nice review. Can you review a Mazdaspeed6. I hear they're good cars but I want your opinion.
i have an 08' SI with slightly higher mileage. thing runs like new still. HFP suspension really tightens up the suspension problem. That exhaust....wtf?!?! not even close to stock. 2.0L engine is better than the newer 2.4L imo. a lot more fun.
Flashpro fixes that lul b4 Vtec as well
The dual axis front suspension combined with the LSD gives this car a feel unlike any other fwd sport compact out there from the same era.
7:43 the smile inducing VTEC - hate if you want, but this is why peope actually ENJOY driving a Honda
