No way coupes are lower wider shorter the coupe is rolling artwork the 8th generation was the first where the coupe has completely different sheet metal from the a-pillars back the sedan is wedgy asf
@@kevinwhiting8391 I think a lot of people would disagree with you on that lol. It's really a matter of opinion as opposed to fact. Some like the coupe, some like the Sedan. I personally prefer the Sedan- along with many other people as well.
Kenny_Fa5 I am looking to buy a 2008 with about 113k for about 5 grand. Is that a good deal? What’s should I look out for? The car seems to never have been modified.
@@teacherpaco Hey Paco - That seems like a pretty good deal price wise, and mileage is also quite low for that year! In regards to what to look out for: Specifically with these cars, you want to look out for the following: - Clear coat fade (very obvious if it's there, especially on the hood, roof and top of trunk) - Third gear grind, shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at a high rpm and ensure that the car shifts smoothly, you'll feel and hear the transmission grind if there's something wrong with the synchro's - How much oil does it burn? DOCH VTEC Honda's are famous for burning oil so it's normal almost all of them to burn a bit, but as long as it's not smoking out the exhaust and the owner doesn't have to add 4-5 quarts between changes, you should be fine. 1-2 quarts between changes is relatively normal for these cars, although less is ideal! In regards to what to look for in general: - Any accidents? - Any rust? - What has been done in terms of maintenance? Does anything currently need to be done? - What mods have been done and have they been done professionally? - When you're driving it, does it make any unusual noises? Those things should help you get off to a good start - all the best with your purchase!
Ive always strictly driven European cars until i finally made a family of my own, and considering the budget and reliability this may be my greatest choice for my next car, How is ownership? Fun Factor? Im so intrigued since this might very well be my first Japanese car
I had a C6 Corvette, 05 Subaru Sti and got the itch back to get a sport car. I got an 08 Si Sedan....and damn what a life change 1. Comfortable 2. Easy to drive. Shifts are smooth, 3. Low maintenance MPG varies but if you shift under 3200, City =25 Highway-30 My best was 26 city, 32 highway, Reading *low fuel light at 350 miles
I have an 08 fg2 that just hit 185K miles. Hondata shows my engine redlining over 1,400 times. Modified from tip to tail and driven spiritedly whenever started. Only ever used Royal Purple in the engine and the gearbox. Beside routine maintenance absolutely nothing else has been done to maintain this car and it has been flawless since day one! Still starts and runs like butter and has absolutely no problem beating up on the 1.8 T 2.0 T and 24v VR6. I've even whooped a few Foxbody 302 V8 Mustangs with it. I will never own anything but a Honda from here on out.
It’s kind of hard finding a decent one nowadays and finding the right owner is crucial. I bought a 08 si about 2 months ago and the starter, clutch lines, clutch and pressure plate assembly itself needed work after just 2 weeks of buying. Not to mention how the owner did NOT care about the car transmission maintenance and how he mentioned changing the clutch weeks prior.
Nice review. I’m buying an 08 si tonight. Totally stock, 127k miles, clean title, and it was repainted due to the clear issues. Should fit the bill for a fun, reliable daily.
Bought my 2007 SI a year ago bone stock absolutely love it best car I've ever owned. Of course I had the clearcoat issue Recently got a brand new paint job at macco they did a great job everything was just under 1800 dollars
@@Txcowboy80 overall they got the major dents they missed a couple of small dings that aren't really noticeable. they got rid of the rust around the wheel wells. They sand off the original paint and clearcoat from the car and start from scratch so those faded patches aren't a issue again.
2010 SI owner here. Hope to keep it until I die. My clear coat has started to go (I've had it repaired) and the A/C stopped working like most Honda's, but other than that, ZERO mechanical and drivetrain related issues. Been an awesome car. I love and miss high revving Honda's.. If you are listening Honda.. Come on.. Do a few more like this again one day.. Sadly they're all getting older and harder to find.
Couldn't agree more - I've missed my 8th every day since selling it. REALLY hope that one day we see another high revving N/A Honda :) Hope your car continues to be reliable for you!
@@KingdomAuto keep it going, I transformed mine, I have it on my channel, no biggie but im proud of it. The clear was bad but i got a pretty good paintjob just a few months back with rims and new exhaust its great for now
Just bought a 2010 coupe with 200k on it. He was original owner. Apart from peeling clearcoat it’s mint, garage kept, lowered, exhaust and tune I paid $5200 for it.
My mom actually just bought the 2008 Civic Si for $8k with 114k miles. What are the average prices you see on these in a good running condition and clean.
That seems like a pretty good deal. They hold their value quite well, so a lot of times it depends on supply/demand. If there aren't many for sale, the seller can bump up the price a bit. 114k miles isn't much on that car though so hopefully it runs well for years to come :)
Wow, that's a very rare find these days. Honestly I am not sure how much it would go for, but it seems as though a clean 8th Si with over 100,000 miles goes for at least $8,000-$9,000 depending on location. If you have such low mileage, might be worth asking $13,000-$15,000 - maybe more??? I haven't seen one with such low mileage for years so I'm really not sure, but that's pretty incredible though!
Not certain if this has affected others but I also have discovered my fan blower takes a while to change from one option to the other. For example switching from defrost to front blowers may take 3 miles of driving before it actually switches. This started when I hit 120k miles. Overall good car.
Good to know, thanks for sharing! I've personally not heard of this before but thanks for your comment though. Always good to know about potential issues when making a purchase for a vehicle :)
Bought my 09 fg2 in 2017 with 132k. Since then, I've swapped in the skunk2 header/exhaust, Hybridracing intake and a pro tune putting down 240hp 176tq. It now has 156k, and She still pulls like a bat out of hell. My cousin has an 09 fa5 with the exact same mods putting down 251hp 185tq. An absolute joy and pleasure to drive these 8thgens!
Great video. I've owned a Taffeta White 2007 FG2 since 2015, about to hit 100k miles. Awesome vehicles. For anyone interested in an 8th gen, the Taffeta White models don't seem to suffer from the crows footing or peeling clear coat defects. On the downside my TW paint is prone to rock chips and gets spiderweb cracks on the rear bumper from relatively minor impacts. Kingdom Auto Consulting is correct, if the previous owner didn't get the factory paint defects fixed within the recall period (5+ years ago, before I bought my FG2 in 2015) then you're unable to get it done now. The paint recall deadline was many years ago. I've also seen online that Honda was only respraying panels with visible damage, so it's possible that body panels that weren't peeling at the time of the initial paint recall are now peeling (Honda wasn't respraying entire cars). The peeling clear coat is believed to be caused or exacerbated by UV exposure, so it's best to keep these 8th gens in a garage whenever possible.
Get this gen 2009 or later. Ive had a Wrx, Gti, and a speed3.. My 8th gen Si's are my favorite out of all of them.. Its such a fun daily. Basic maintenance is key on these cars. Check pulleys and fluids and the k20 will take you well above 250k. My 2 door daily has 283k on the dash and it still rips.. Never selling my Si's😁
@@KingdomAuto Thanks!! I'd say It'll be asking for a new trans or engine soon, but for now I'm hoping to take it to 500k kms! Once the boost comes into play... I might have my Hope's up too high lol but with proper maintenance, ya never know!
I owned 10th gen si, but i picked one up 07 si with 84k miles. The 10th gen is faster and more refined however the sound from the 8th gen stock is amazing.
I hear a lot of good things about the 10th gen's - especially the handling. I haven't driven a 10th Si but I have driven the Type R and it feels like it's on rails even stock. But I definitely agree that the high revving K20 will be dearly missed. It would be really nice if Honda brings back a car that can break the 8k rpm mark stock again. I miss that a lot.
Checking out a black 08 si coupe with 100k miles for 6k, I owned a 9th gen si and a fk8 type r and im more excited to pick this car up more than the previous civics lol, great video and very clean fa5
Wow that's really saying something, considering the other two Civic's that you've owned. I can definitely appreciate where you're coming from in regards to the 8th Si being a fantastic car to drive/own. I used to own the one that I used for this review and it's been years since I sold it, but I still miss it all the time. You really do get the whole package with those cars, and that high revving K20 is such a blast to drive. All the best with your purchase and I hope the car lasts you for a long time! Cheers :)
Civics from 06 to 08 tend to have engine block issues, due to a problem with the alloy used on them. The engine breaks. I suggest you to get one from 09 to 11
@@limahead134 Hey thanks for your comment! I believe the engine block issues were mainly on the R18 engines, which was not the Si trim level, but everything below (DX, LX, EX, etc). But you're correct with the years though, from 06-08 it was a more common issue. The K20 engines (Si trim level) were built stronger and have been known to be a very reliable engine (apart from burning oil). One big thing to look out for on the Si between 2006 and 2008 was that a handful of the transmissions had synchro issues. Honda addressed this issue though and it was far less common from 2009-2011. Thanks again!
@@limahead134 They are FANTASTIC cars. Especially the 8th gen (in my opinion). It was the last generation that Honda released such an amazing, high revving fun engine like the K20Z3. Don't get me wrong, newer Si's are also a lot of fun but there's something about an engine screaming past 8000RPM that just can't be replaced. All the best with your purchase and I hope you enjoy whichever car you end up buying :)
The clear coat can be fixed if you just want it to look better, but if you want it perfect it would probably cost close to the same to get the section repainted. The key is to keep a lot of protection on the paint on those cars that tend to have clear coat issues.
Nice review . I had an 06 si for about two years . And let me tell you the engine in these things are little gems. Probably one of the best naturally aspirated 4 cylinder ever made. In stock form top speed was 127mph. Add in invidia q300 cat back exhaust, hybrid racing cai, p2r tbs, lightweight wheels, hybrid racing short shifter, stiffer sway bars and top it off with a good tune. And your looking at a super fun dd/ commuter. That tops out at over 140mph which is kinda insane.
@@TheWessGarage That seems a bit fast haha. I wonder if your car was already tuned somehow?? The top speed for these cars was factory limited to around 130 mph ish. Here's a good video where you can see it - keep in mind that this video shows the speed in KPH, not MPH. so 214KPH is around 130 MPH: ua-cam.com/video/ffBtl0wYey4/v-deo.html
@@KingdomAuto yes they are governed, but for some reason when I baught my car from the dealership. It never had the Governor put on. They will do 260km in stock form - it takes awhile to get there though.
2007 Civic Si owner here. Mine has about 195k miles. Trying to decide if I should just keep her until she drops. I test drove a Veloster N, which was pretty sweet and definitely faster. I also test drove a Miata, which is a great car. But when I got back in my Si, I didn't feel like was missing much. So I'm in no hurry.
@@dxrkknght Of course, if you'd like a 2 seater convertible, the Civic Si is a different beast. But I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything for handing and performance. Just based on one and only one test drive.
Sounds like the car has been running well for you! Have you driven any of the newer boosted Si's? I hear quite a few people are enjoying them and they seem pretty quick as well
Got my 2007 Si Coupe a week ago! Your video really sold me on it! And I got good deal (For Utah at least) $7300 with just under 90,000 miles and the paint is still in good condition as well as unmodified! Very excited to own and drive this for a long while.
Thank you very much! Seems like you got a really clean 8th!!! It's rare to see them with mileage that low and especially unmodified! I'd say you got a pretty good deal for sure. Hope you enjoy the car for years to come! Congrats on the purchase!!
Get the valves checked & adjusted if it wasn't done already, replace the valve gasket too; did you get anything else serviced or know if done prior? I'd change all the fluids (engine, tranny, coolant, refrigerant, clutch, & brake) since ppl are pretty neglectful.
Totally agree with you :) I REALLY miss the 8th K20 engines, the VTEC kick/noise and the 8200 rpm redline (among many other things) made these such fun cars! Thanks for your comment!
I just bought a 2007 si sedan 2 days ago, 1 owner, 120k red, pretty clean all maintenance up to date, . I always wanted one red or fiji blue .. pretty fun car hope everything goes good with it.. 🤞 😁
Still have my white 2009 Civic SI sedan, and car as been such a trooper over the years (90K). No mechanical problems. All I upgraded was the stereo, did some sound deadening work, and replaced all the headlights and interior lights with LED's. Car also does great in bad weather, rain and ice or compacted snow. Car struggles even with really good all seasons in heavy or fresh soft snow, so bought a set of winter tires. If you're considering this car, also consider swapping out the seats. The cloth seats are comfortable but require frequent cleaning and care vs leather. And YES...road noise is so bad. Sound deadening is a MUST with this car.
Have a 07, Si and I so agree with you! FUN car, and this is coming from a guy who has had multiple cars from Range Rover, Tesla P85, Lexus 300 HS, etc. I have the coupe version and I’m 6’3” , clearance is good in regards to leg and head room.
Thanks for your comment, great to know about the room you have as well, thanks for sharing! Yeah, these cars are a blast, something just can’t replace a high revving NA engine :) Hope the car runs for a long time for you!
I've been seeing a lot of the clear coat failures cross makes. As to the engine, I test drove a 2012 which has the K24. Intown, very responsive and easy to drive yet when you need to get moving quickly or on the highway need to pass, it does so easily and quickly. Your explanation about the cabin space versus the engine bay proves everything comes with a price.
Yeah good call on the paint, I’ve seen paint failure on some other Honda’s as well, like the Pilot and Odyssey, seems like it’s mainly with the white paint. But the clear coat was across multiple colours. Agreed though, those K24 engines have a lot of useable torque! The K20’s had the better top end but it’s not uncommon for the K24’s to “feel” faster just because of the added torque and change of the powerband. Both options are fantastic though, reliable and tons of fun! Just stay on top of oil changes and make sure the timing chain tensioner is in good health and you’re pretty much good to go for years Thanks for your comment!

that engine has got a lot of kinetic energy waiting to be uncorked. except for a k&n drop-in filter, mine is still stock and it's still has got a lot of kick to it. just be sure to treat it well w/ the right honda fluids (most especially the one that comes w/ the a/t transmission variant) and it's practically bullet proof.

Mr. Christopher under $10,000 because of higher mileage. I thought about buying from a dealer but I might just buy it off of someone from Facebook for less.
well done review and i'd echo all of your comments as being spot on as the owner of a 2010 Si sedan. if you're a fan of the n/a engine driving experience, but still want a practical and reliable car there is nothing that can touch these Si's at this price. everything feels like it was engineered by someone who understands performance driving, from the floor-hinged full length throttle pedal that is perfect for heel-toe work down to the torsen diff, fast steering rack and buzzsaw redline. yet i can still take my entire family on a 1000 mile road trip and get a 32mpg average (literally did just that). they're not a numbers car (unless you want to modify the engine in which case they can be extremely quick) nor are they without issues at this age, but overall its just an incredibly satisfying car to own for an enthusiast. i have no intention of letting mine go.

There's a ton of stuff now for the 8th gen. Lots of lip kits/side skirt trim pieces, especially because of the Type R and Mugen RR Sedan's that were made in Japan. A lot of those bits are now readily available for these cars which is great. Definitely can't argue with the fact that the engine bays are small, but where the RSX-S fell short was the fact that they didn't come stock with an LSD transmission. I really like the exterior's of the RSX though, nice shape and aggressive looking as well :)
About to buy a 2007 Civic Si Coupe 131k from my uncle. He works at a shop so it was very well maintained. No issues. Just needs a new paint job, going to Tijuana for that since I’m from SD. Good deal?
How much are you getting it for? If it's well maintained and in good mechanical shape then yeah you're likely getting a good car - I just hope he doesn't charge too much for it :)
I'd go for it at that price yep. Might be a good idea to get some quotes on fixing the paint but overall that's a lot of car for the money! Hope it all goes well!
Oh boy this going back a ways. From what I remember: Skunk2 CAI + alpha header Invidia q300 cat back exhaust Flashpro + tune Koni shocks in the back, Truhart in the front Neuspeed sport springs Fast hayaku wheels - 17x9 Don’t remember the name of the front lip but I had one on there. And that’s about it. I had a rear engine mount as well to help with the header movement. I’m pretty sure that’s about it maybe apart from some other cosmetic things
Had my 09 SI for two yrs now. No engine mods yet but have some suspension bits upgraded. Completely love it. Had other Civics in the past and this one by far is better overall
It really is a great car and very fun to drive!! A tune + some light mods will REALLY change how it drives. It will pull quite a bit harder in the high RPM's and will really "wake up" the response. Hard to believe an NA 2.0L engine can perform that well and still be so reliable
Yeah no rush!! I totally understand the payments :) lots of time to mod the car my friend! You’ll be that much more excited to do it when the time comes :)

A buddy of mine is around your height and he found the 8th gen (Sedan and Coupe) to be a little smaller inside than some of the previous gen Civic's (especially if they have a sunroof, as that removes some head space). I am only 5'10 so I can't give you a good perspective. If you don't need a sunroof, you would definitely have a little more head room, but I would recommend taking one out for a drive and determining if you have enough room. I hope you're able to fit!!
So if you purely want a sporty sedan like the si then sure get it , it’s reliable , fun to drive , looks good , good mpg , and etc. however it won’t have the latest bells and whistles that some of these other cars have , specifically talking about the technology aspect of the vehicle. OVERALL It’s a great buy

The CSX is basically the same car with the exception of the base CSX models vs. the base Civic models. The CSX Type S was essentially the same car as the Civic Si aside from the fact that it came with leather interior and usually a navigation unit. The base CSX model actually comes with a DOHC Vtec 2.0L K20 engine, just like the base RSX models. It's not tuned the same way as the Si/CST type S engines and uses some different internal parts, so it puts out around 160hp and 135 ish Tq but it's definitely an improvement over the base Civic engine which was the 1.8 and only SOCH. Other than that, they were the same cars :) Regarding the deal, yeah that actually sounds like a pretty good price. Low km's and quite a fair price considering the Acura's are almost always priced higher than the Civic's :) Hope that helps!
I’m looking into a 2009 sedan si, The seller wants 4K usd and states that there’s no problems. There is 187,000 miles and I can’t tell if it is a scam?
If it's not a scam, that sounds like a pretty good deal! I'd definitely go take a look at it, go through the basics - no accidents, transmission shifts well, clutch doesn't slip, does it burn oil, clear coat fade, etc. But if all those check out and the engine is still running smooth and strong, I'd jump on that - great deal if it pans out!
I know that prices can vary by which insurance agency you use, but I am considering purchasing an 09 civic si, and I was wondering if they are considered as a sports car (insurance wise)? And are they are expensive on insurance? I’m 19.
I agree with what Juan said - one of the benefits of these cars is that they're usually considered an economy compact vehicle so they're typically pretty good for insurance :) Happy car hunting!!
Hi, great review of one of my favorite cars.I am looking at a 2010 Si that has 170,000kms in Montreal area. It is completely stock. The present owner said he recently changed the Transmission oil. Is this something that you find is good to do with an Si with this mileage?Or did he do it because of 3rd gear issue that you mentioned? Thanks alot eh!!
Thanks for your comment! With regards to the car you're looking at purchasing, I would *try* to find one with less mileage (if you can). If you can't then you're right for looking at the newer 8th gen Civic's. From 2009-2011, they had less issues than 06-08 :) When it comes to the transmission fluid change - it's recommended that the fluid is changed every 50,000kms or so from Honda so great that the previous owner has changed it for you. This won't really do much, if anything at all if 3rd gear has an issue though. It might make the shifts a tad smoother but if the transmission has synchro problems, then you'll feel that when shifting at high RPM regardless. When the test drive happens, just ensure that the car is shifted at high RPM's a few times through the gears to see how it does. Hope that helps and all the best on the purchase!
Seems quite high but used cars are going for a little more these days due to the shortage of new cars on the market. If it's in REALLY good shape and has been well maintained//doesn't need anything then maybe it's a decent deal. In a normal market I think it's worth closer to $8500 (ish). Hope that helps
Very generally speaking, a 2 door vehicle will be a little more expensive to insure, but this really depends on your record and insurance provider. That said, these cars are usually classified as more of an economy vehicle and from what I've seen, they are usually very reasonable to insure. Your best bet would be to call your current insurance provider and ask them to quote you on pricing, for both a Coupe and a Sedan and then you'll have the concrete numbers for yourself :) Hope that helps!
@@yukonstriker1703 I wouldn’t be surprised if they came out with something in the future with an engine similar to the K20. I’m sure it would be a limited production run, more for novelty but I wouldn’t put it past them just yet. Obviously one never knows but I’ll continue to hope :)
Are we talking in Canadian or US dollars/mileage? That makes a pretty big difference these days haha. If Canadian $ then yeah that's a pretty solid deal, especially because the mileage is pretty low for that year/car. If in USD and in miles vs kilometres then that sounds a little expensive but still a good car to purchase if you can get the price a little lower. Hope it works out for you!!
@@doublelung44 Ok, still a decent deal for sure, I would just see if you can get the price a little lower. But as long as it's in really good shape/no issues then it sounds like a good buy!

Chris (the owner) is fantastic. He's probably the most knowledgeable guy out there for 8th gen suspension and he has great deals on his site as well :) He hooked me up back when I owned my Si and gave me exactly what I was looking for. All the best!!
I love si 8th, gen, can you tell me the specs of those rims? Looking for something like this 😁 PS did someone have an issue with missing coolant in the small tank because every couple of months i miss it and there are no leaks and my engine passes all tests 🙂
The wheels are 17x9 with an offset of 35 all around :) They just fit in the front but they do clear the suspension. Also, you're going to need to run a mild stretch and at least -2 degrees of camber to have no rubbing unfortunately. A more ideal setup for these cars is an 8 or 8.5" wheel with around a 35 offset, that way you'll clear the fenders for sure. Then again, if you don't mind your tires rubbing the fenders then go for the wide setup haha. I'm not sure about the coolant though. Sounds like the car *might* be drawing some coolant into the engine which is usually a head gasket problem but hopefully that's not what's causing the issue!
That’s really down to preference my friend - both are solid cars, reliable and very fun. The Scion has more low down torque if I recall correctly. It’ll feel faster around town and has more useable torque. The Si likes to live above 6000rpm after VTEC kicks in, and it’s a lot of fun to hear an engine rev past 8000rpm all the time :) Personally speaking I would take the Si, mainly just because of that K20 engine and the really smooth transmission that Honda made for those cars. But the TC is also a great option that’s a lot of fun and very reliable. It’s hard to decide between the two for sure!
Seems like a pretty decent deal :) I'd make sure that the paint is in good shape as the 06-08 years were more known for clear coat failure than 09-11. Also would ensure that the seat belt is professionally fixed. And apart from the obvious things - certified, no accidents, drives smoothly, regular oil changes and maintenance, you should be good to go! Also the R18 engines are absolute tanks. They go forever and typically have very little issues, so 148,000 miles is still quite low on the engine. Hope that helps a bit!!
Depends if everything else is totally perfect on the car (or close to) 7k seems a tad high for that year/mileage but if the car is in great shape and recently serviced then it's a decent deal :)
Sorry to hear that! For an Si with low mileage like that I’d just get a reputable shop to fix the clutch and drive it for another 150-200,000 miles. Those things will go forever as long as the oil level is maintained and you stay on top of oil changes :)
Thank you! This car isn't mine anymore, sold it about a year ago but I had 17x9 wheels with 225/45/17 tires. The wheels were made by Fast and the model is called the Hayaku. Apparently they don't make that specific spec. anymore unfortunately. I was really happy with the setup though!

What was the redline raised to? Also from your charts at the end seems like you didnt rate reliability very high? Also what coilovers did you habe and wheel n tire specs?
Hi and thanks for your comment! The redline was raised to 8600 rpm because that's still a very safe limit for a K20 with a stock oil pump. And yes, if the car is modified, the reliability inevitably goes down as aftermarket parts are very often less reliable than OEM. This car was running on Truhart sport shocks in the front, Koni Yellow shocks in the rear and Neuspeed sport springs all around :)
I think if you're resting without pulling on it, it'll be fine. If the resting of your hand causes you to move the shift knob then maybe. I've done that all my life and haven't had any issues but I can see what you mean though!
What an excellent review! Am I crazy comparing this and an ES 330? Currently in a 2005 civic and desperately want more power. Can’t decide if I want to wring one of these out on the highway every day, or cruse in silence in an ES 330zz
Thanks for your comment :) - nah I don't think that's crazy at all. All depends what you're looking for :) I can completely appreciate both vehicles as they serve their purposes really well. The Si will have quite a bit more pep than the 05 but honestly they're still down on torque. Don't get me wrong, they're a ton of fun, but the torque number leaves you wanting more over time
I love Alfas and have owned two 156 before both their glorious v6 engine. I also am in my mind cross shopping between the UK spec Civic 1.8 and the Guilietta. Somehow I seem to lean more towards the Civic. The Guilietta is still based on the Fiat Bravo, not such a bad thing but still can't beat the Civic which feels more purpose built and still looks futuristic and sporty.
I bought a 2006 civic si for $4300 Canadian with 190,000km on it. It has an injen cold air intake and came with set of brand new winters. Only problem is I had to spend $2000 to get clutch replaced. Spent about $6500 total. Does this sound like a good deal?
What year? Mileage is nice and low though so mechanically it should be in great condition. If you're willing to get the paint fixed and there are no other issues, should be a really good deal. It's hard to find 8th gen's with mileage that low these days.
Kingdom Auto Consulting 2008 sedan model. I’m very happy with it. Have already put 3000 miles on it since picking it up in April. Thanks for your reply!
Kingdom Auto Consulting we appreciate you for making this video. Before the pandemic . I had a 10th gen Si and owed a bunch of money on it. This video and many others prompted me to sell my 10th gen and buy this 8th generation outright. It’s so much more fun to drive, seems easier to fix, and I’m not as worried about Knicks and dents. So much happier. Thank you for making these videos!
@@LianghisKhan Thank you very much for your comment! I'm glad to have been able to help! Also really happy that you're enjoying your 8th Si. Even though Si's after the 8th were still good, I personally feel that something is lacking on them because they've lost the high revving fun that you got in the 8th (and older engines as well). Personally speaking, the 8th Si is my all time favourite Si that Honda has ever made, up until this point anyways! I hope your car offers you fun, reliable driving for years to come! Cheers :)
Seems like a pretty good deal, although mileage is getting a tad high though so you might want to ask about the health of the engine/transmission. Also, see if the timing chain/tensioner have ever been changed on it. If the oil isn't maintained in a K series engine, the chains would stretch faster and this would result in a failed tensioner as well. Also would be good to know if the car burns oil too, and how much between changes. If all checks out though then I think that's a relatively good deal!
Don’t get it. Just wait for the right one!! If your gonna have one get one with as close to 140k or less!! Honda’s are reliable but you will probably have a very hard time reselling it with 170k or more miles so good luck cause most people wouldn’t even touch it. I see some car with that much or more miles I instantly don’t wanna have anything to do with it.
I'd stay away, even w/ Honda reliability, that's some heavy mileage and you'll be fixing a lot more wear n tear. Plus, you don't know if internals were babied by old owner(s) unless you abs know the guy, and an old Si kinda defeats its original novelty.
Picked up a 07 Civic Si last week, a older lady owned it has about 142,000 miles. Picked it for $4500! New clutch and bone stock, love driving it!
Congrats on the purchase! They are great cars, hope you enjoy your time with it!

In regards to what to look out for:
Specifically with these cars, you want to look out for the following:
- Clear coat fade (very obvious if it's there, especially on the hood, roof and top of trunk)
- Third gear grind, shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at a high rpm and ensure that the car shifts smoothly, you'll feel and hear the transmission grind if there's something wrong with the synchro's
- How much oil does it burn? DOCH VTEC Honda's are famous for burning oil so it's normal almost all of them to burn a bit, but as long as it's not smoking out the exhaust and the owner doesn't have to add 4-5 quarts between changes, you should be fine. 1-2 quarts between changes is relatively normal for these cars, although less is ideal!
In regards to what to look for in general:
- Any accidents?
I got an 08 Si Sedan....and damn what a life change

Beauty!!! Thanks for your comment!! Glad the car is running well for you and I hope it continues to do so!
So so true. Sorry to hear about the rough experience when you bought one, I hope it runs great for you from here on out!
Nice review. I’m buying an 08 si tonight. Totally stock, 127k miles, clean title, and it was repainted due to the clear issues. Should fit the bill for a fun, reliable daily.
Congrats!!! That's a good find for sure. Hope you enjoy it!

That's a great price to get the paint fixed. Glad you'r enjoying the car :)
Just got me one a few weeks ago. Thought about heading to macco. Did they fix all the dings and hail damage for that price?
@@Txcowboy80 overall they got the major dents they missed a couple of small dings that aren't really noticeable. they got rid of the rust around the wheel wells. They sand off the original paint and clearcoat from the car and start from scratch so those faded patches aren't a issue again.
2010 SI owner here. Hope to keep it until I die. My clear coat has started to go (I've had it repaired) and the A/C stopped working like most Honda's, but other than that, ZERO mechanical and drivetrain related issues. Been an awesome car. 8th gen civic is legendary
Agreed! So much to like about that car.
@@KingdomAuto I have a 09 civic si w 15 k original miles in the garage. How much do you think it’s worth?
Wow, that's a very rare find these days. Honestly I am not sure how much it would go for, but it seems as though a clean 8th Si with over 100,000 miles goes for at least $8,000-$9,000 depending on location. If you have such low mileage, might be worth asking $13,000-$15,000 - maybe more??? I haven't seen one with such low mileage for years so I'm really not sure, but that's pretty incredible though!
That is a fair deal. I usually see si's under 10K that range 110K-200K. $11k-$14K are those under 90K miles

Not certain if this has affected others but I also have discovered my fan blower takes a while to change from one option to the other. For example switching from defrost to front blowers may take 3 miles of driving before it actually switches. This started when I hit 120k miles. Overall good car.

Glad you’re still enjoying your car! They’re so much fun.
Really appreciate your comment, thanks SO much for the information!
Hope your 8th continues to run well for years to come!! They're such great cars!

The clear coat can be fixed if you just want it to look better, but if you want it perfect it would probably cost close to the same to get the section repainted. The key is to keep a lot of protection on the paint on those cars that tend to have clear coat issues.

I'm looking at buying a 2007 - 2008 Honda Civic Si Sedan. I really don't want one but it is all I can find for a good price range and Manual Transmission her in Massachusetts. Driven a hybrid Civic and I am still sold on the Manual Transmission because Automatic Transmission is meh for me.
AKSOXTS What price range are you seeing? I’ve been doing the same here in Pa. There are 2 cars of interest for me both 2008 but one has 94,000 the other has 72,000 both listed at a dealer for 10,995.. they appear to be in the same condition but I still need to look at them there’s no way I’m paying the same price for the same car with more miles lol. In the same breath there is a 2010 si sedan I’m looking at tomorrow with 86,000 on it for just under 10,000 (can see working that down a bit too) that seems more reasonable
Mr. Christopher under $10,000 because of higher mileage. I thought about buying from a dealer but I might just buy it off of someone from Facebook for less.
I completely understand what you're saying. Manual's are so much more fun to drive - all the best in your search for a car!
well done review and i'd echo all of your comments as being spot on as the owner of a 2010 Si sedan. if you're a fan of the n/a engine driving experience, but still want a practical and reliable car there is nothing that can touch these Si's at this price. everything feels like it was engineered by someone who understands performance driving, from the floor-hinged full length throttle pedal that is perfect for heel-toe work down to the torsen diff, fast steering rack and buzzsaw redline. yet i can still take my entire family on a 1000 mile road trip and get a 32mpg average (literally did just that). they're not a numbers car (unless you want to modify the engine in which case they can be extremely quick) nor are they without issues at this age, but overall its just an incredibly satisfying car to own for an enthusiast. i have no intention of letting mine go.
I appreciate your comment! You have summed up an 8th Si to perfection!

These civics don’t have much exterior mods like that and the engine bay is so tiny though they are fast N/A... but the Rsx-s is better IMO
Throw an 8th gen diff in the RSX and its wayyyyy better
RSX has worse suspension geometry and no LSD

Neuspeed sport springs
Fast hayaku wheels - 17x9

It really is a great car and very fun to drive!! A tune + some light mods will REALLY change how it drives. It will pull quite a bit harder in the high RPM's and will really "wake up" the response. Hard to believe an NA 2.0L engine can perform that well and still be so reliable

Totally fair! The Accord definitely has more room
This would all pretty much hold true for the Canada only CSX too, right? Looking at a 2011 at 86K miles, 7900CAD (~9K total post tax). Worth it?
The CSX is basically the same car with the exception of the base CSX models vs. the base Civic models. The CSX Type S was essentially the same car as the Civic Si aside from the fact that it came with leather interior and usually a navigation unit.
The base CSX model actually comes with a DOHC Vtec 2.0L K20 engine, just like the base RSX models. It's not tuned the same way as the Si/CST type S engines and uses some different internal parts, so it puts out around 160hp and 135 ish Tq but it's definitely an improvement over the base Civic engine which was the 1.8 and only SOCH.
Other than that, they were the same cars :)
Regarding the deal, yeah that actually sounds like a pretty good price. Low km's and quite a fair price considering the Acura's are almost always priced higher than the Civic's :)

If it's not a scam, that sounds like a pretty good deal! I know that prices can vary by which insurance agency you use, but I am considering purchasing an 09 civic si, and I was wondering if they are considered as a sports car (insurance wise)? And are they are expensive on insurance? I’m 19.
Its technically a compact car so you should be good

From 2009-2011, they had less issues than 06-08 :)
When it comes to the transmission fluid change - it's recommended that the fluid is changed every 50,000kms or so from Honda so great that the previous owner has changed it for you.

2010 Civic Si 145,000km $9500 decent deal or overpriced?
Seems quite high but used cars are going for a little more these days due to the shortage of new cars on the market. If it's in REALLY good shape and has been well maintained//doesn't need anything then maybe it's a decent deal. In a normal market I think it's worth closer to $8500 (ish). Hope that helps
Way to much bro
So is the 2 doors more expensive on insurance? And is it considered sport?
Very generally speaking, a 2 door vehicle will be a little more expensive to insure, but this really depends on your record and insurance provider.
That said, these cars are usually classified as more of an economy vehicle and from what I've seen, they are usually very reasonable to insure.
Your best bet would be to call your current insurance provider and ask them to quote you on pricing, for both a Coupe and a Sedan and then you'll have the concrete numbers for yourself :)
Hope that helps!

He's probably the most knowledgeable guy out there for 8th gen suspension and he has great deals on his site as well :) He hooked me up back when I owned my Si and gave me exactly what I was looking for.
All the best!!
I'm sporting ebach lowering springs. Price is affordable and the ride is stiffer but not harsh. If your on a budget this might be the way to go.
2009 civic si or 2011 scion tc as my daily driver???
That’s really down to preference my friend - both are solid cars, reliable and very fun. The Scion has more low down torque if I recall correctly. It’ll feel faster around town and has more useable torque. The Si likes to live above 6000rpm after VTEC kicks in, and it’s a lot of fun to hear an engine rev past 8000rpm all the time :)
Personally speaking I would take the Si, mainly just because of that K20 engine and the really smooth transmission that Honda made for those cars. But the TC is also a great option that’s a lot of fun and very reliable. It’s hard to decide between the two for sure!
Easy choice SI
How does a 2007 coupe LX with 148000 miles for 4,500 US dollars sound? They driver's seat belt has to be replaced.

Don’t rest your hand on the shift knob. It wears it out pre-maturely.

78000 miles for $6500. Clear coat is shot but completely stock otherwise. Is that a decent deal?
Very nice! Glad everything worked out and that you're enjoying the car!! They really are a ton of fun
Cheers :)
Is 4k reasonable for a 07 Coupé with 170k miles.
