the mugger had more money in his wallet than his would-be victim did.
My thought we are suppose to think he had a busy & productive day before he encounter Raffi 🤣
It's usually the case IRL that the intended victim has less money than the assailant.
Typical LA
@@amazedsatsuma that was one successful mugger.
(beat)
Emphasis on WAS.
It would be funny if we got to see the mugger complain to the police that he's been mugged 🤣.
LOL! Hilarious scene. Just like an RPG, win the battle, get the cash and XP!
Must be L.A.
Yeah, they'll be doing smash and grabs on the ship
It is LA, Star Trek’s 2020s LA is even worst than ours.
When will crooks learn?...
GUNS ARE LONG-RANGE WEAPONS!!!
You don't have to get within arm reach to use one 😣😣😣!!!
If they had that mean brain cells they wouldn't be mugging people. High risk low reward. LA just go in steal 998 dollars worth of merch from any store and resell it on amazon.
I think she’s been watching too much Detroit urban survival training!! 😂😂😂
Beat me to it!
She wasn't really in danger, they're indications there wasn't a round in the chamber. However she might join a trucker militia..." Got a copy " I don't think that's been used since the dukes of Hazzard was playing in the '80s.
Believe it or not, that maneuver would work in real life.
She had her hands up, close to the gun, she tried to negotiate and kept him distracted. When she grabbed the gun, she moved her body away from the muzzle, pointing the barrel away from her.
Her Star Fleet training paid off here.
Nice to see that in Starfleet 24th century training, they teach cadets how to efficiently dismantle a weapon 400 hundreds of centuries old in seconds. Must be pretty handy against, err... Klingons... Romulans... Cardassians... Jem'hadar... Hirogen... Borg... Pakleds?
@@odojang even better is how on STD, the crew can travel nine centuries to the Future and seamlessly instantly integrate into starfleet elite
@@GilesMcRiker Indeed you're quite right. It makes as much sense as a Roman galley putting into port at Norfolk and having it's legionnaires and centurions seamlessly fit into modern US Navy.
Not to mention their trireme is better than any nuclear sub or aircraft carrier currently in service... and even gets upgraded with 21st century tech like laser targeting and depth charges for their catapults.
@Nehemiah Scudder I respectfully suggest that you should watch Star Trek, real Star Trek, not Kurtzmantrek, not just google on your phone.
''Phaser pistols'' are from ENT; 22nd century.
In the 24th century (TNG, VOY, DS9) they have phasers, not ''phaser pistols'' which look nothing like a pistol, not even a phaser pistol of 2 centuries past, not even of the type2 phasers of a century before. (TOS). Most people would not even recognize them as weapons, (as seen in TNG First Contact TV episode). Raffi is in fact from very late 24th century; almost 3 centuries removed from handguns.
The virtually automatic way she dismantle it is like someone well trained in this very specific type of weaponry, which makes no sense for someone born and raised centuries after they have become totally obsolete. At best, we could suppose that she may be a fan of antique weapons; but that has never come up and is not at all mentionned even in passing. She's not even said to be a career security officer to even hint at such anachornistic knowledge.
Remember Kirk, who can fly starships (i.e. TOS The Doomsday Machine) baffled by a car? Or Sulu in The Voyage Home, ace pilot, taking time to ask questions to a helicopter pilot before flying it, (and surprised by wipers still) despite saying it being similar to his Academy days training? That is well written, beleivable.
What we see here simply makes no sense, just like the entirety of season 2.
True he started it !!!!!!!!!!!😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
One entitled jerk disarmed and KO'd. To borrow from another Paramount holding, splash one!
LMFAO…!!!
Well they got mardon California right 🤣🤣
Cool scene. The way she dismantles the gun kind of reminds me how the The Boss did it in Metal Gear Solid 3.
Kind of reminds me of Star Ocean 4 when they have to fight in the arena and realise that their openents are simply not on their level.
Boss would made sure he can't even use that arm to wipe his ass......
Not really... Would she even know what a gun is? Maybe if she studied ancient firearms, maybe. Why would anyone in starfleet study ancient human weapons. And she just dismantles it in less than a second? What complete and utter lazy "pew pew trek" writing. Garbage.
@@BitBanger41 Actually projectile weapons aren't unheard of in the 23rd and 24th century.... Klingons use an older weapon called a thrust gun which fires a projectile and is even designed to be used in vacuum. This weapon is mentioned in the novelization The Return and is used by a Klingon exchange officer to kill a Borg drone.
@@BitBanger41 She's been in security and people in the Federation are encouraged to be highly educated about a variety of subjects, and history - as well as undergo very extensive training. Especially in the holodeck.
Trek characters are often not written the way they should be by the canon of the setting. In reality, a 24th century security officer should be a superior fighter and more knowledgeable than most equivalent persons from earlier eras.
So this is two years away
She disassembles a gun she likely never knew existed in a second, ctfo ST
Facts. The writers of this show are complete trash.
given that all they ever did was visit the past in holodecks your argument seems stupid.
@@truethat15 Well you are trying, but maybe a tad too much.
Considering shes a human starfleet officer in tactical/security background from Earth a planet that has museums probably filled with old guns, have holodecks, and probably knows of her own races history with combat and weaponry and most likely have diagrams and information about old weaponry in Starfleet computer files it's not a stretch. Remember Kirk had flintlock pistols on his homes wall. I'm sure 21st century weapons like a Glock handgun are sold antiques too in the Trek world.
Exactly. Most Americans in the present day have no idea how to handle a firearm. It would be like someone knowing how to load a musket. Absurd and pointless scene.
He started it!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂

Don't start nothin' won't be nothin'
I love season 2 ALREADY!! Granted the would-be mugger had more money than he needed to steal for, which was weird, but ok!! I literally froze when jerati woke up to find the Borg Queen out of her confinement..they did a great job on that, I was legit scared..that never haplens anymore( well it just did, you get the point)
@Aunchient Pistol he was " canceled" lol
It's eerie how prophetic ST was in the DS9 episode which sees Sisko and Bashir in a dystopian Earth.
There is a mistake in the scene in 18 seconds into the scene when her hand is up in the air when it was supposed to be hands down
another subtle jab..American flags in a homeless camp
fuuuny man
Seriously dude, she barely put anything behind that swing
Would be hilarious if they had some TOS motion picture crossover's in this episode. Like DS9 / TOS and our friendly furry tribbles. Looks like they landed back in a more recent past the than the one visited in the motion picture. I wonder if we will be seeing Section 31 or a confederation iteration of them in this timeline?
What about ST4 the voyage home. That would have been in San Francisco.
Did they film this on location?
Always advance on someone when they are that close and have a gun. He's an idiot for moving closer.
Muggers are rarely clever.
She is such a poorly written character. Her outbursts toward Picard would end in the court room back in the TNG era
Agree. She's a bit of a loose cannon, but she's definitely a lot more shipshape in season 2 than season 1.
DS9 did this better…
I think that guy was taking too much lds :)
As Tuco famously sad, "When you got to shoot, shoot, don't talk..."
Is this scene supposed to be set in a Sanctuary District? I thought the homeless and unemployed had been placed in Sanctuary Districts by 2024.
Don't fret over it. It's not even set in the Star Trek universe anyway.
Probably. People have spotted fliers and maps mentioning the Districts all over the episode.
@@franciscogalvez8891 The sure sign a sci-fi show has no budget or imagination and only shallow dubious messaging is when it is turned into a time travel story in present day local city. Extra negative points if it is about our society turned into a totalitarian regime.
@@odojang Relax, it's only being consistent with what we already know from DS9 so far.
@@franciscogalvez8891 Relax, it's not consistent at all. It's just cheap backlot filming , college student style. The entire show lacks budget as much as imagination, hence this entire season being a cliche story they can furbish with stuff bought at Wal-Mart and Ikea.
Not that i expected anything else, TBH
yeah, its funny how shitty it is
Wow, what a burn "Wonderful ambassador up against a backdrop of Hope". Only thing that would be funnier would be if the mugger looked like President Obama. You know for the tie in of his book "The Audacity of Hope" and the homeless camp setting.
no
Was that one of the fine citizens of Portland?
L.A.
Didn’t split it with 7 ????!!!💵💵💵💰💰💰😀😀😀😀
The spectre of mainstream stereotyping even haunts a ‘progressive’ franchise such as Star Trek...
Well, Star Trek Picard is a 'woke" show so the female members of the cast are strong and know everything'
Still can't stand it ,in the movies, when a woman can knock a man out with one shot let alone a backhand
Maybe. But it's been happening in Star Trek since Dax and Kira were able to knock Klingons and Jem Hadar around repeatedly.
Maybe. But it's been happening in Star Trek since Dax and Kira were able to knock Klingons and Jem Hadar around repeatedly.
I see you have a lot of experience with hitting women.
She's a trained officer, and he's a random thief. It would actually be embarrassing if she couldn't knock him out.
Also, sexism in 2022? Really?
@@ThatElfNerd It’s not “sexism” to point out basic biology.
Raffie is a terrible and annoying character
Whaddya mean?! It's not like she gave him the ol' "You could've been someone, but you just HAD to be a horse-s**t sellout" lecture of present-day media
@@floydjohnson7888 i didn’t like her blaming Picard again and I just don’t think she is a good character. Every time she says “JL” it’s nails on a chalk board
She reminds me of Bones, she just need the script writers to give her some killer one line retorts to be Picard’s friendly foil, then she’s golden...
Dislike.
Just another reason to reject this as NOT Star Trek.
Oh yeah they supposed to stick with the same boring format.
@@kenyettadoyle1200 it would be nice if they stuck with a theme of intelligence. If this entertains people let them watch it... Small changes to something is adaptation... Large changes is replacement and not the same thing at all. I'm glad you enjoy the show it's just not for me.
Really? I'm enjoying it...too bad your not..fyi been a star trek fan since tng
@@patgarci Likewise! If I don't like how this spinoff turns out there's nothing stopping me from going back and rewatching the glory days of TNG. But this show isn't half bad.
I find Michael Sparlin's logic alarming. Is he saying it would have been more faithful to Star Trek if the black woman was mugged? I feel like he may need counseling...
