Impressive motor mount! The price of around $25 and the fact that it works with a gas powered motor makes it a winner! Here’s an affiliate link➡️ amzn.to/3KLtMVH
If you put a very light outboard on it it might be ok. You can get a Honda GX 35, only weight 9.5 kg. Not massive top speed about 4.5 mph but that's enough for that inflatable boat.
A nice video. I also have an INTEX boat (Mariner 4) and a HONDA engine 2.3. But we have a problem. The whole system works well when you drive slowly, otherwise the motor sinks heavily at the back towards the water. This has nothing to do with the weight of the engine, but with the thrust (!) of the engine. Boat is built too weak for that. If you use an electric motor, then everything is ok.
I am familiar with this problem. The motor has so much torque that it’s submarines pushing against the vinyl inflated boat. Check out this video around the two minute mark show my solution that I made. Hope this helps.▶️ua-cam.com/video/UMenBkBJR6U/v-deo.html
Was that a short shaft or long shaft motor? Some views in the video looks like that mount sits high, while other looks like it sits low, so can't tell if a short shaft will work or if its best to get a long shaft?
This outboard is the Honda BF2.3 (sch) short shaft. I use this motor on my aluminum John boat, which is the track or trooper 14 foot. Sometimes I wish I had the longer shaft version, but this one has never been a problem even on the Colorado river.
I don’t see why not. It would just be a smaller floor. Here is the build video that shows all of the materials I used. ua-cam.com/video/hygCX8Nl9Yk/v-deo.htmlsi=aGTCr6rZtLPmkRbe
It really depends on the state that you live in. In utah, if it floats, it’s a boat. Here in Nevada once a motor is added it then needs to be registered with the department of wildlife just like in the other boat.
The first one I had for 2 years and used it dozens of times with no issues. The vinyl is pretty thick. I suppose if you hit a sharp enough branch it would make hole. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
I just bought one of these. I second the motion here, the vinyl is extremely thick but I would say watch out for fishing hooks. Either way you do get a repair kit that comes with it. And they are cheap online. I would just advise you to carry patches just in case
It’s a great little outboard! Mine is a 2016. I change the engine oil and lower unit oil every spring. In the fall before I store it for they winter I run it for a few minutes with a 3 to 1 mixer of gas & seafoam. Every spring it starts within a few pulls.
The motor mount is rated by horsepower. The box said 3hp limit for electric or gasoline. I just purchased an electric motor for a future video! Thanks for watching!
@Teezythadon is have also added a “transom Board” that really helps tremendously! You can see it in this video ▶️ua-cam.com/video/UMenBkBJR6U/v-deo.html
Just got mine but i'm having an issue, the boat won't inflate fully no matter how long i pump it (use an electric air pump)..don't believe there's a hole anywhere since it will stay inflated at the same level for a while (until i deflate it myself)..any idea what could be wrong?
I find that some electric pumps lose pressure and won’t completely fill the boat. If you finish filling with the hand pump you might have better results!
You will have to usually finish it off with the hand pump. Electric pumps get some air pushed back out once the pressure gets to a certain point. Just make sure you don’t over fill!
I had the same problem. The pump was the problem till someone passed me his tire compressor. Some pumps wont give that needed pressure to fully inflate it.
It's Chinese plastic junk. Mine shattered on me last night while trying to mount launching wheels. There is no way to get boat to water without carrying it.
I have seahawk2 use 12v 40 pound thrust trolling motor n 100ah lead battery n i use powermat 580-2stroke short shaft motor with spred bar n support rope on motor mount to stop motor flex/dig when motor is at full power bar is on motor mount to spread load over full back of boat hull n support rope is on bow grab handle to motor mount no hard floor insert still to add one motor mount can only handle 15kg motor 1/5hp 🚣😃👍

informative, short and to the point. Thanks for putting in the time to make it. BTW love the narration tone... it's TV, radio voice :)
Thanks for your information!!

The Intex aren't made for heavy out boards. They don't take enough psi in tubes.

Could u do this on a seahawk 2? Also what’s that material on the floor of the boat?
I don’t see why not. It would just be a smaller floor. Here is the build video that shows all of the materials I used.

The end of one of my motor mount top tubes tore a hole in my intex 5 person boat. I tried a Chinese 1.5 up motor. So for me it was a fail
This might be a silly question. But once adding a motor, does it need to be registered?
It really depends on the state that you live in. In utah, if it floats, it’s a boat. Here in Nevada once a motor is added it then needs to be registered with the department of wildlife just like in the other boat.
AZ too....
How durable are the boats themselves, what if I hit a tree branch of something I can’t see beneath the water would it pop?

I just ran over some branches right below the surface last week and I thought for sure it would puncher but it didn't
@@computergardener I was out on the lake 2 days ago and It's still holding up! Love this boat!
I have an Intex kayak and went over a few branches with no problem
Great! Are you using long or short shaft engne?
Yes, it’s the short shaft. Love that Honda makes two shaft lengths in the 2.3hp!
@@MrFredsDIY Hey, is your 2.3 Honda low maintenance, how do you take care of it?
It’s a great little outboard! Mine is a 2016. I change the engine oil and lower unit oil every spring. In the fall before I store it for they winter I run it for a few minutes with a 3 to 1 mixer of gas & seafoam. Every spring it starts within a few pulls.
@@MrFredsDIY Does your model have a spark plug and a built in gas/fuel tank or is an external little gas/fuel tank and fuel line needed in your boat?
Yes It has an internal tank, 1.1L.
Did you have to deflate most of boat to mount this?
Good question! I had to partially deflate the number 2 chamber about 1/2 way.
@@MrFredsDIY thanks good to know, guess it’s not budging once in water
Is there a weight limit on the motor?
Can this be used for a electric motor? 🤔
The motor mount is rated by horsepower. The box said 3hp limit for electric or gasoline. I just purchased an electric motor for a future video! Thanks for watching!
Add longer brace poles and hook thru the paddle holes to stabilize the weight and thrust of larger motors.
@Teezythadon is have also added a “transom Board” that really helps tremendously! You can see it in this video ▶️ua-cam.com/video/UMenBkBJR6U/v-deo.html
What type is that Honda Motor? model number would be great.
This outboard is the Honda BF2.3 (sch) short shaft.
Can you use this kit on the Challenger 2 inflatable boat as well?
If you look on the Amazon listing of that I put in the description through my affiliate link, it says that it will work on the challenger two.
whats this mat that youre using in your boat?
Here is a link to the boat floor videoua-cam.com/video/hygCX8Nl9Yk/v-deo.html

This inflatable isn't made to take a full heavy outboard.
I like turtles
Mmm turtles! They are delicious!
Cats........evil creatures.
Seriously though, thanks for the content.
I forgot about that segment lol. Thanks for commenting!
