He is an amazing man on many levels! But what gives me a chill is the thought that if he had received say $10m less from his sale of Paypal then he would not have been able to trade thru those "2 or 3 days". What a disaster for humanity that would have been.

On the other hand, I never managed cafe before. If I mess it up, I would spend years trying to pay the bank back. I would like to have it, but not really willing to risk that much to get it.

I think you only lose when you quit. That's the thing about Elon musk, he's persistent. He doesn't quit. And the best thing of all is he chooses to persist. It's not because he has to, he really wants to without end.
Magic... What always strikes me about Elon is his delivery, no matter the message. So many entrepenuers spend so much time working on the spin, the delivery, so slick, almost pure pitchmen. With Elon, all of that, typically falls on the floor. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see his pitches early on, and the meetings where he was selling the idea. However, whenever you listen to any of his interviews, humble, not rehearsed. In fact he breaks, so many "speaking rules" you'd believe he's never focussed ten minutes on that subject. However, his earnest, passionate, humble, manner/methods, are just spot on priceless. His vision, comes through so clear you realize none of this has been about becoming a zillionaire. His ideas, his passion, is always about improving our lives, following dreams and making an impact. Hell it's damn near impossible to not get sucked in. Truly the DaVinci/Michellangelo of our time. Such a great thing to witness and top it off with to this day, the man comes off with someone you'd love to grab a beer and munchies with and bullshit about, most anything.

The genius of Elon Musk is not only what he learns, but how he adapts to change. Nicola Tesla was possibly the greatest genius of the last two centuries, but he was not able to adapt when the rules of the game, business, and politics changed. Tesla was dependent on benefactors to support his work. Musk has succeeded to the point that he is free of that burden.
