I used to be self-conscious about my stuttering problem, but seeing Elon comfortable in his skin and achieve the success he has is truly inspiring. My favorite talk of his to date.
I mostly solved my stuttering and stammering problem. I have partly developed a weak voice too. Mainly from past traumas and maybe head injuries. It took a lot of self reflection and understanding myself. I still do and I still fumble my words, where it is an uncontrolled mumble or false pronunciation under lightest of stress, but it really isa relief to see it can be improved, elon improves and also that people see a figure that dispels judgment on speaking = intelligence or charisma. Elon has a personality and intelligence, people look beyond because they see his success. I am glad he is a good example.
I used to not even want to talk in front of a couple people. Elon’s “awkwardness” when speaking made me realize it was ok and I actually make videos now. Still self conscious about my speaking ability but much less than a decade ago.

This really expanded my view of Elon Musk, seeing how sensitive he is to the difficulties we face and yet how stubbornly hopeful he is that we can build a better world. You can feel it really matters to him. We need more of this optimism and principle in the people we allow to dictate the path of our future. I wish him well.
I gained more respect for Elon as a result of watching this ted talk. I agree with you that Elon wants to make a better world. I hope Elon can help us understand the mind and brain more so we can understand and treat all types of issues that people are going through today. In addition, Elon is focusing on tesla and space x which is also really great for mankind. The future looks bright and I believe Elon can help us reach that level:)
It is nice to see that more people are coming round to the fact that he is not "just another billionaire". I have been following this man for the last ten years, and it has been increasingly hard to convince folk of his genuine intentions. I strongly encourage anyone to look back on interviews and talks of the past. His stance does not change.

Some people just can’t cope with the idea that a billionaire can be a good human. They think they have taken away money from others in massive amounts. Like taking away more share of the finite pie. Elon's willingness to be vulnerable on a global stage is one of his most remarkable qualities that I think is overlooked. Andrew championed much needed 21 century solutions in light of the rapid emergence of our historically unprecedented science & technology of AI direct autonomous robotic systems & the potential disruption it has & will increasingly continue to create. As Andrew wisely pointed out, the problem ISN'T Trump! Trump is a symptom of an extreme winner take all form of capitalism thanks to it being on steroids of the technological variety. This sentiment was also expressed by Eric Weinstein as he aptly put it, *_“We think of capitalism as being locked in an ideological battle with socialism, but we never really saw that capitalism might be defeated by its own child - technology.”_* and so the demise of the foundational principle for the continued viability of the most successful socioeconomic system historically, capitalism, is inevitable, & that principle is *'labor for income'.* The critical question is what socioeconomic model design will be the most feasible in our AI directed technological context, we have to acknowledge that none of the historical models cut it.

Elon is opposed to Biden funding electric car infrastructure in the US because it would benefit all electric cars and not just Teslas. Elon took 47 million dollars from the city of Las Vegas in order to build a one lane underground road that can only use Tesla car and can only move a small number of people at a time instead of building a much more effective train system and wants to expand this to several other cities. I love and respect this man. We are fortunate that he is here, now. Together with love we can build a better brighter future. Let's go!
Agreed. It's like Zig Ziggler taught. You can get whatever you want, you just need to give enough people what they want first. Basic entrepreneurship and networking. Give unto others, without expecting anything in return, and they'll become more willing to give to you.

I can see his many thoughts crossing with each other while he is speaking and at time he's trying to put them into words. Modern day genius and we are lucky to witness one who is living with us. I wish him the very best.
There is a risk that often comes with genius, in that sometimes they cannot see the forest for the trees. I've been following and, at one point, idolizing Musk since Tesla's inception, and many of my life's endevours aligned and still align with his direction for the world. That being said, for all his genius, he can be really stupid sometimes. Simple solutions to seemingly complex problems that he's spoken about that he somehow still manages to overlook. I wish humanity the very best and hope that he doesn't eff it up more than it's already doing on its own.

Einstein had his cousin, as a publicist. She made sure of his fame so that, even decades later, we all know his name. Her inspiration is why we know him as a wild haired, scruffy, eccentric genius. Elon Musk is actively causing the displacement of indigenous peoples in Bolivia, by trying to extract lithium resources on the lands they live in for his own profits.
“Obsessed with Truth” which drove him to study Physics is spot on. Physics is the set of unbreakable laws about the universe. Unlike politicians, it will never lie!
Unless you’re dealing with the subatomic world where things don’t make a lot of sense and normal rules of observation don’t seem to apply… meaning, we have a lot to learn about what is truth
I've studied physics in one of the world's best physics departments to the Master level, and it's rather easy to tell Elon Musk is a narcissistic manipulator. For instance when he makes you believe he is at the origin of the Twitter edit button when it has been on the works for months, well before he even bought shares.
Elon Musk is actively causing the displacement of indigenous peoples in Bolivia, by trying to extract lithium resources on the lands they live in for his own profits. he literally tweeted in 2019 "we will coup who we want!" against the government of Bolivia
I thought he lacked a bit of depth, in some moments, to be honest. Also a couple times I was rubbed a bit wrong by his verbiage, and a couple questions I wouldve just eliminated and replaced with others completely! When Elon talked about how he stayed on the floor and why he did that, I loved that he revealed that to us, it was a pull back on the curtain of himself and the words followed out of the interviewers mouth had me aggitated, he said something like "didnt he think that displayed him making unwise choices when things were in such a vulnerable state" I was like dhdhfjgi! Hello you kidding? GAF on peoples opinions about that ...it was important AF that he did what he did it was huge, respectable AF , shiiiet..GAF about what people "see" people more often than not cloud up with there own selves what they see of others actions anyways, lol, idk if you get what I mean..but ya.. He (the interviewer) was great in parts though, I appreciate that he asked the public if there were things theyd like him to ask...I did like that he was thoughtful to do that.

His obsession for truth is equally as impressive as his remarkable focus and persistence. “When someone you don’t like says something you don’t like, you have freedom of speech”… Elon Musk
Freedom of speech has limits by law for a reason. If you think that's ludicrous ask the question, do you want where you live to have someone come and say to other people to physically assault the innocent?
You should ask him about how the monkeys in Neuralink's testing fared, see how honest he is then. also focus and persistence arent good traits when being used to con people.
Thought I'd comment on something different - I could see Elon getting emotional again about the things he fundamentally feels. Truth in science, but also in all things; getting the questions right; meaning of life; and being positive about the future for everyone. He controls it well. Better than I can. I couldn't sit in front of that many people and keep it all in. My respect. And also to Chris who asks many more right questions than wrong, in my opinion.

A long time ago I heard someone say, "there are two types of workers, those that say, it's not my job, and those that say, it needed to be done. "There is no question what type of worker Elon is. If more people approached their work with this mindset, the world would be a different place.
Despite the interviewer interfering... Elon truly revealed his true feelings at 37:27 it was so emotional... One of the traits of true South Africans is that they will die for a cause if they really believe in it... Despite health failure, Pain or Prison or how long it will take.... If they believe in a cause they will die for it no matter what.
Yeah I think the interviewer was really excellent overall, I won't sit here and lambaste him. But there were a couple spots like that one where I thought this isn't the time for an I know better than you gotcha question. Tesla survived, the end. I understand the sentiment, but sometimes what is required is immense work with a lot of pain. And I think the thing Elon wasn't going to come out and say is him running at 20% was still having an outsized impact compared to not being present. For me personally, I'm useless on low sleep. Probably some degree of truth here for him as well but I think the context was just not really appreciated.
@@pirotrav I agree he was good overall but its annoying being asked a question and getting cut off while you answering it. Most times you could see Chris already silently fumbling without listening to the full answer. You ask a question, let people talk
@@pirotrav That is very true overall the interviewer did a brilliant job i just think that he is so much of a fan of Elon and wanted to squeeze out many answers from him in this interview... Overall I applaud Chris and I enjoyed the interview... I just miss the classic technical Elon who would speak in text book language in every interview... Over the years he somehow changed it and became more business focused and leaned towards using business language over engineering language. I think the human race is blessed to have Elon... What I love about him the most is that he is down to earth and human despite his reputation. I think we must appreciate him more.
I didn't know Musk suffered from asperger's disease. After knowing that he has gone through such grueling times that almost cost him his sanity and yet managed to keep his optimism and enthusiasm despite it all is mind blowing. I have immense respect for this guy!
Asperger's is not a disease! It's a different brain type and he is blessed with having the ability to see things differently than the neurotypical. You can see him hyper processing several thoughts, and when he stumbles it's because he has many solutions to the questions and is sorting his thoughts. Looking away is because it's another stream of "data" to process. The only struggles are people's lack of understanding and insistence that being neurodiversity is a hindrance!
One must first imagine it, some reason it, most don't "make" it. "You got to do things that get you excited" and in his case it is what is best for all, for humanity. Yes, he "makes" believes after the rigor of first principles in physics, and the hard work of engineering and tradesmen-ship.
Is it just me or did this interview feel like he opened up more about himself and his feelings? I've always been a big fan and listening to him talk about everything he's been through makes me like him even more. He is such an inspiration!
Yes, but he is bound to say something like that, at the very least. I would have never known, otherwise, that he was manipulated in the manner that he was even though I've admired him for so long. With that revelation, I, now, wonder how blood boiling and rattling it must've been to hold such facts within him while he was being vilified and degraded publicly for the things that took place. Is he telling the absolute truth in his statement? Not sure, but frankly, I have more trust in his integrity than I do in the integrity of our public institutions or in the integrity of journalism (if one can still call it that, nowadays).
it was definitely very welcome to see, i wish he would have opened up more 4 years ago on ted talk i could have really used the look into someone else with a similar view on life and his surroundings it would have helped me alot. it will help me alot now.

I do sometimes think he's still naive to the general toxicity of those in opposition to him (word carefully chosen).
The "free speech" internet had and will continue to promote the divisive " my way or the highway" echo chamber society we now inhabit.
Is that *really* good?
umm....Elon Musk has retaliated against MANY people for their speech. He cut off access to self drive from a Tesla owner because he didn't like his blog post. He tried to buy off and then ruined a kid who published PUBLIC information about him. I am pretty sure the only free speech he is interested in is speech he likes....at least that is how he has acted. We should be cautious of his talk when he hasn't been the bastion of free speech in his own life. (and these were just two of many publicly reported examples of his attacking speech)

*_"Elon is the first in a long time (and only one) who embodies hope"_* not true, looking back at the US presidential campaign of 2019-2020, Elon did endorse Democratic Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang.
This sentiment was also expressed by Eric Weinstein as he aptly put it, *_“We think of capitalism as being locked in an ideological battle with socialism, but we never really saw that capitalism might be defeated by its own child - technology.”_* and so the demise of the foundational principle for the continued viability of the most successful socioeconomic system historically, capitalism, is inevitable, & that principle is *'labor for income'.*
The critical question is what socioeconomic model design will be the most feasible in our AI directed technological context, we have to acknowledge that none of the historical models cut it.

Truth... Is the best enemy of mr. Elon..
Lol his track record of lying is worse than that of Trump...
Elon is a historical figure, we're blessed to him here in the states.
He came to America, as he said it's the land of explorers and the freedom to do that.
no one does anything so
He sold his soul, he's a puppet, f/m what up
@Mhlengi Nah, he left for a reason
@Mhlengi Nah, he has stock, not dollars, but he owes you exactly none of it either way lol
Chris Anderson likes the sound of his own voice way too much. Could not stop interrupting Elon.
Can we also acknowledge how good the interviewer is. Doesn't try to corner Elon in any way, asked great questions too.
He was weak - he does not have the IQ. He sounds a bit like Trudeau, who makes me physically sick when I hear him speak with that feminine man voice.
It's all preplanned
He (the interviewer) was great in parts though, I appreciate that he asked the public if there were things theyd like him to ask...I did like that he was thoughtful to do that.
lol he was terrible.
Wow, this is such a raw and inspiring interview
What a man, Elon is a real, pure human, an idealist in real life.
what .

5-10% any buyers to buy NOW? who and for how much?
What he has accomplished with the full weight of the mainstream media against him is insanely impressive
Yeah, it's a shame. They're starting yo come down on him. TDS will extend into the future for some time I suppose
when mainstream media comes down on Elon, they come down on us all as a society...a united society with differing views. It's a slow process, but with access to info, common people are starting to rise up
Never heard the media going against him... Last I remember they were hailing his slow car tunnel as something liki hyperloop

they're for him if he agrees with the narrative. against if not.
@@AnoNymous-dh2sv that’s already illegal. Read.
@@bigdefense777 Nobody told you it's not smartypants.
You should ask him about how the monkeys in Neuralink's testing fared, see how honest he is then. also focus and persistence arent good traits when being used to con people.
Love listening to this man speak.
I think it's the first time I've heard a billionaire state he's not in it for financial gain and I believe the words.
think mate, stop feeling ffs

You can understand how deep, analytical and critical Elon thinks by lookin at his eyeballs while he speaks.
That’s him flicking through his neuralink and the stuttering is deciding how to portray the data his mind is interpreting

A long time ago I heard someone say, "there are two types of workers, those that say, it's not my job, and those that say, it needed to be done. "There is no question what type of worker Elon is. If more people approached their work with this mindset, the world would be a different place.
Spot on. The world simply would be a better place.
It's not my job to make a comment but it needed to be done.

Amen! Conscientiousness is what you speak of, and it's sorely lacking in most organizations / company cultures.
@@thefamousdjx That is very true :-)
I didn't know Musk suffered from asperger's disease. After knowing that he has gone through such grueling times that almost cost him his sanity and yet managed to keep his optimism and enthusiasm despite it all is mind blowing. I have immense respect for this guy!
Aspergers isnt a disease, and it isnt something that i want cured. (Someone with aspergers aka autism.)
It is not a desease it is a condition, and seems he lives very well with it :)
It’s a syndrome
Suffers?
Elon, one of the most important human beings ever to live. He makes me feel optimistic about my children's future.
Thankyou Elon🤛🤛🤛
That's what he is best at . Make believe
I think his underpaid, overworked employees beg to differ
One must first imagine it, some reason it, most don't "make" it. "You got to do things that get you excited" and in his case it is what is best for all, for humanity. Yes, he "makes" believes after the rigor of first principles in physics, and the hard work of engineering and tradesmen-ship.
Then your kid sold your house to buy tesla battery lmao
I agree, however it’s sad that someone very rich is roughly the only that can bring positive change, so that end of it makes me sad.
Great interview!! Great questions and great answers ❤
Thanks for all your love and support towards me ❤️❤️
How long have you been a fan.

Is it just me or did this interview feel like he opened up more about himself and his feelings? I've always been a big fan and listening to him talk about everything he's been through makes me like him even more. He is such an inspiration!

Yes but I kinda seemed like he was tense during it. Not a bad thing but I felt a bit differently watching it even before he talked about the scc
