A mad dog out shooting anything is a surprising turn of events since it's really a missile support mech. For example; a typical Jade Falcon star of heavies is composed of two Mad Dogs (Vultures) for ranged support, two Hellbringers (Lokis) for close up fighting, and a Summoner (Thor) as an anchor to fight at any range.
To clarify; A single element shouldn't jeopardize an entire team, unless they're not working together. Because a team of any description needs to address the most threatening obstacles together. Using the meta game to your advantage is one thing, and it's not all that difficult to do; however, if single players out fought entire teams. That speaks to a lack of teamwork I've never seen in a team mp game. Especially because you can divide a single threat's attention, and draw it off form support

Given the OP might not be talking about this, but even if they don't understand it they might note the discrepancies it's bound to cause.
No mechwarrior game has really been huge. Weapon load outs really depend on sacrifice, balance, and play style. It doesn't matter what you have if you're taking fire from a walking missile base.On the other hand those laser boats also can pack a surprisingly effective punch. Since it's about how you use your load out, rather than what the load out is.
Actually it'll randomly play during some missions. This also applies to the Black Knight expansion and the original MW4: Mercenaries with out the Mektek mekpaks. Only in later missions though for any of them.
@TheTrollIsYou There were more mechs than the Uziel, most notably a Novacat. It's hard for a Vult' to outshoot a Novacat, let alone one in a lance and fire support. =/
Oh don't act like it's so complex. I started with MechWarrior 3, compared to that MW4 and it's spinoffs were fantastically simple. I did miss the ability to move my crosshairs and weapon focus point independent of the torso in the forth game but it made it up with far more action packed game play.
That reply made no damn sense, especially when you first posted about missiles, mech and autocannons. Which do are not story line elements, they're equipment. At any rate the backlash against Clan Smoke Jaguar is a fairly complicated event compared to the typical infighting of the Inner Sphere Great Houses. Especially because the former involved an incarnation of the Star League.
Spoken like someone who never went up against some of the giants of the game back when multiplayer was a big deal. There were guys who could take out a whole team in a light mech, or conversely guys who could do the same in a heavy mech and rarely get hit. The videogames were dumbed down versions of the tabletop yes, but there was still more than enough metagame to separate the average player from the people who understood the math and understood how to abuse armor and heatsinks.
Reactors Onlines. Sensors Online. Weapon Systems Online. All Functioning Systems Nominal.
This series should make a comeback in the modern gaming community (and not just mechwarrior online)

The Clan Streak SRM is just about your BEST ballistic weapon for toe-to-toe close range slugging it out with another mech!

Yup. My Madcat was 2 er large, 4 re med, clan Lrm 10's the rest to armor and heat sinks. Win against assaults with it.

This game can be a really obnoxious to play with a mouse and no mum pad, but still, a truly amazing game!
I find using the Numpad to be obnoxious as hell, and discovering the mouse option was a great relief.
