I remember in 1997, I played MW2 on my Dad's newly purchased work PC. The graphics were so demanding for the time, it would often crash through loading screens. As a result, I never did play another MW...until now. Timothy Seals, you have single handedly recaptured the inner essence of my childhood with this tune. Listening to this takes me back to a time when things were much simpler. I still get those same feelings I had...all those years ago.
This sort of reminds of something that would be in the MW4 Vengeance campaign. If you ever get the chance down the road to remaster that OST, that would be awesome!

I love music like this. Part of me imagines you are in control of your own custom mech; and you have a squad of high powered mechs like Uziels and Mad Cats backing you up. And then you just hear over the radio "you made a big mistake coming here mech warrior... I hope you are paid well; because I'm cashing you in." And then a very large force of mechs appear on the map and you have to defeat every single one; including a single deadly assault class mech with custom gear.
You have a firm understanding of what a Mechwarrior soundtrack should sound like. The callbacks and inspiration from the MW2 era of games is strong in all of your work. Have you listened to the OST of the first Heavy Gear (1996) game? It's from the same era as the MW2 games.
This stuff is really cool! the music has the right ambience with the perfect matching of instruments that take you back. Keep on working with it to bring that Battletech vibe back! bring the hype back! bring the Legacies album. Everyone will celebrate one track at a time, until its time to hit buy!
Dammit, man, I'm supposed to be subscribed but I haven't seen any of these songs you've made in the past three years. Damn UA-cam, and damn me, I need to go to sleep for work tonight but I'm stuck listening to this ass-kicking music. This isn't just regular ass-kicking Battletech music, this is music I imagine playing as the soundtrack to a gritty, 80s-style rendition of Battletech on the Big Screen, like Terminator but with an Atlas punching it out with a Dire Wolf (Daishi for you Spheroids :P ) as lasers flash and autocannons unload and the city streets are ripped apart in an orgy of death and destruction.
damn I found mw2 on an old pc I got for 100$ it did not run well but the memories of below 20 fps Mech warfare is still there all this time and now I want mw2 on my new pc but can't find it can you some one help me out
sorry but what are you talking about? They are MILKING MWO for all it is worth? Nothing they ever implemented is thought through to a point of completion. Why does the escort mission not just stop when one team has been completely destroyed? the outcome is pretty much certain at this point. why does scouting not stop when one team was wiped out? what is the point of me watching the other team collecting intel for a couple of more minutes. the times you ask yourself why is this obvious thing not working like it should is beyond staggering in MWO.
i played MWLL the last couple of days and to be honest it cant compare with MWO.Sure its all a matter of taste but the controls are so clunky, very few mechs to chose from compared to MWO and the graphics are outdated aswell.I know its a free mod but still not in the position to look down on MWO.MWO on the other hand is no free mod so i am not wondering that they try to cash in to some amount.I think they both have their right to be and MWO woudnt be what it is without MWLL looking at some mechanics and HUD features that PGI incooperated into their game from the mod.What makes MWO a still fair project to the customer is that everything can be bought with ingame currency at some point, that alone makes it one of the few games i can recommend to everybody who not like pay walls and unfair advantages because someone throwing money at the game. P.S. people shoudnt invest over 100$ into whatever game, at some point you just regret it. If you still decide to do so, say goodbye to that money cause its lost and they owe you nothing for it
MWLL can look down on MWO from Mt. Everest. The available game modes are actually thought through and not window dressing that turns into kill the other team anyway. There is a real battlefield atmosphere in MWLL that MWO can't even touch with their arcady game play and the retarded horns and all that useless shit. MWOs soundwork is borderline pathetic, by default it has the worst synthesized shit weapon sounds ever heard in any mech game. I could go on and go on about this but I stop here.
@Timothy Seals Highly suggest you read/reread the Warrior Trilogy by Stackpole or any of the Wolf's Dragoons books by Charrette while making this music. It'll get just the right amount of inspiration mixed with awesome..."In conclave we have deliberated, trothkin. Sealed and bonded, I stand as Oathmaster. The rede you have spoken is my will. I wish some of your work could have been in the HBS Battletech game. The official soundtrack was high quality, but really lacked personality and variety for the most part.
Books to read (dead trees or not) Warrior trilogy, Main Event and Grey Death Legion, do it while listening to the music, note that the books are NOT 'nice' or for squimish readers, Batteltech novels are generally both violent and in many cases NOT happy enders they also have a tendency to move on the edge of the grey morale horizon and more than one character you feel aught to survive….. don't or show themselves to be not what they seem to be, the novels also have several personalities moving thru many of the books in the background incl one who might be one of the scariest and most competent Assassins ever described anywhere in fiction and i incl 40K in this not least since his skills and behavior seems not supernatural just very very good in a beliverble way so you BELEIVE such a creature could actually exist.
Evil Ash I could be wrong, but I think the Legacies concept isn't a tributary rework like the other tracks, but rather, a derivative inspired work based on Mech 2(/4?) music in aesthetic and style, but otherwise being original works.
@Soft Sexcock Probably due to the vocal "oooohs", they're reminiscent of "Icarus" by Michael McCann, which was used heavily in the promos for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. And is a great track in its own right.

I found my dad's original mechwarrior 4 mercs disc box, eight megs of video memory then, I have two gigs now. I probably get like 700 fps
