I'm wondering what happens if mechs will appear in the future? Man, I want to live up to the day when such a 100 ton beast will walk the face of this here planet.
This track...falls into the same category as Brief_04 from FreeSpace 2 (1st heard I believe when the Sathanas runs a blockade). Both have that "relentless" sound and feel while this one has that "glimmer of hope against the tide".
Re-installed, then un-installed and re-installed again to listen to this song. Fave mech is the Gladiator with four ER PPCs, 1 ER Large Laser and a Clan Ultra AC 10
PPC's are sick. They pack quite a punch for their weight, and require no ammunition. Range is decent, too. I find that they heat my 'mech real quick, though. I usually use my Thanatos as a Sniper, hence the Light Gauss, an LRM, and a few Lasers for close combat, if my opponents can actually match my speed. The Jump jets allow me to leave larger, heavier 'mechs behind.
The crazy thing about technology progression is that if one was determined to make a battlemech and had all the funds, and worlds greatest minds. Then the battlemech would soon be produced. But nobody cares about such a weapon. Most care about biofuels, solar panels and space telescopes. If somebody is given enough time and resources then any futuristic or space age technology is within humanity's grasp. Who knows, maybe even you would build it.
@JoshuatheKodiak Compact fusion energy, artificial myomer (muscles), advanved metallurgy, advances in uses for electromagnets (gauss rifles). These things could give us boundless energy for ages, repair broken limbs for those who are disabled, make huge skyscrapers, and power advanced Maglev trains that travel faster than 4 times the speed of sound, Yeah.. alot of what we take for granted is much derived from military technology. The internet especially :)
Nice! I've been searching all over for this song, did you rip it from the CD or download it from somewhere? If the former, how? and if the latter, where? Thanks!
Have the game on CD ROM and played all the way through several times, and that includes the arena competition games at the end at all three levels and loved it very much but i noticed it made me too aggressive after i got off the computer. Luv that one wingman that says: "Yo wasted 'em man!"
some techs are still under research that games like this provides innovations for the military, navy is researching electromagnetics for their ships and the airforce on lasers while marines and army are stuck with traditional ballistics and missiles which is getting better and better after some time and been field tested in warzones
@XkriskrossX And seriously, by simply riding such a mechanical harbinger of destruction, people could feel like GODS OF WAR. I like Mechwarrior and I'm waiting for the reboot of the series (the new look of the Atlas rocks).
@zackunderscorefalcon Ah yes, Thanatos. Properly used it was completely unstoppable. I fancied Autocannons and if I remember correctly ER Lasers and PPCs on it, plus SRM missile pack. After some meddling it was quite fast and agile for a heavy 'mech, still had couple of tons of armor and packed a heavy punch on every distance. 350 degrees twist gave such great offensive and defensive capabilities too. Ah, Thanatos, we all love you.
....I learn about the previous games of mechwarrior and thats great but I REALLY REALLY WISH THEY HAD THE MECHWARRIOR THEME FROM THE TRAILER ON HERE! you know, the teaser trailer one? If anyone could point me to that, unless its a song they made, that'd be nice, sorry, you can get back to the comments now.
@XkriskrossX Nah, I'm not a gear head. Maybe somebody will eventually create a mech in the future. Still, I would do (almost) everything to go just for a spin in something like that.
@Hask79 I actually replaced the 10 with a 20. I wanted a short rage weapon so I can fight better in close quarters plus if my heat is high and can still hit hard
fafnir: 1 ClanFlamer, 4 ClanMediumPulseLaser, 4 ClanMachineguns with maxed ammo. its not really good, because it has to get really close to the enemy do do anything but everything thats within 400 meters is wasted instantly. really fun to play, even though it sucks a bit in the higher levels and is propably quite useless in multiplayer
Gladiator. 4 PPCs. Game over, man. (Everytime you fire, it says "warning heat level critical" but it cools off in time for the reload). Always liked a shadow cat with an ac20. 1-shot almost anything.
@@christiane.g.4142 Hes talking about the several paragraphs that the installer would cycle through describing the first recorded use of mercenaries in Egypt, going up through the Battletech timeline.
pfff. The stocked variant of Fafnir sucks if you think what exactly a guess rifle...is Strip all weapons, add 2 hyper AC20's, continues large laser in centre, and 2 Med Lasers. Add rest to ammo and whatever you like. or keep the AC20's and make what ever beem weapons you want on it. still can rip a mech to shreds.

This is the most fun I ever had installing a game
my friends: everything is on steam!
Me, a man of culture:
Sadly many nostalgic games are not on steam :(
indeed..
At that time waiting for a game to install was actually fun, nice graphics and soundtracks in the setups!

@@xxgoodboy1499 THIS.
Fafnir...packing the 2 heavy gauss and 2 ER PPCs...with all firing as an alphastrike ...
I totally bought this music, "Enmity Road" (MW4 Vengeance ST) from iTunes.
Holy shit, almost 20 years, time flies faster than an SSRM6! Tempus fugit.
i don't remmebr ever dedicating so much time playing a game like this one back then. especially the multiplayer, aww yeah!

Favorite heavy 'mech? Thanatos. Jump Jets, decent speed, can load a Light Gauss, and, of course, can torso twist 360 degrees.

Try out a madcat mk ii with pair of lt gauss and clrm20s. and a BAP. great sniper mech
I finally found out this is Emmity Road from Vengeance.
This brings back SO many memories. Thanks for the upload!

Does your wife sometimes look at you strange and say there is more to life than mechs?
Yes. And you must answer this way:
"Yes there is. And as soon as i beat this next mission, i'll look into that"
@@christiane.g.4142 I disagree; it's is either she must share the love of all things mech or pack her shit and throw her out. No exceptions.

All the mechwarrior games are based on the sci-fi book series

I'd also like to know. It's also possible that it wasn't ripped from the game.... MS published the soundtrack separately on CD.
