I am so surprised by the lack of people that know about Jinjer. Tatiana is my absolute favorite female vocalist, and no one I've met has even heard of Jinjer.

Really? I saw Nightwish co-headline a festival a couple of weeks ago. Within Temptation kinda storms our charts whenever they bring out a new album and Epica was on national TV only a month ago. If anything they are huge.

As a personal lover of female vocals in metal genres, I think that Ms. Mojo should do a part 2, and maybe even a part 3 of this top including After Forever, Delain, Leaves' Eyes (one of the big bands in my opinion), In This Moment, The Agonist, Sirenia, Stream of Passion, The Gathering (another classic band), Theatre of Tragedy (of course), Xandria, Diabulus In Musica, Beyond The Black, Tristania, Kobra and the Lotus, Unleash the Archers, Avatarium, Draconian, Battle Beast, Nemesea, Amaranthe, Amberian Dawn, and well, I could continue, but in my opinoin, this bands also have carved their way to the top charts and reached high popularity.

On the other side, Leaves' Eyes needs to release new material with Elina, we've only heard Fires In The North and some new re-recording of songs from the King of Kings album, maybe the new material will give the band a new twist and still rock the scene.

Excellent list! I saw several of my favorites, including Nightwish (of course), Within Temptation, and Arch Enemy. One I would add as an honorable mention is Eluveite. While Anna Murphy was "co"-lead vocals, she was incredible. After her departure last year, Nichole stepped in and is also amazing. Also: Ancient Bards has excellent female vocals: one of my all time favorite songs is "Through My Veins".
@@laurenblake659 Maybe but on this list should be metal bands and Evanescence is not a metal band. And you can not tell me that Evanescence are metal bevause they are not. They are an alternative rock band.
I am so old that i remember Girlschool as a warm-up band for Rainbow on the "Rainbow Rising" tour in denmark back in the days. I liked them very much. Even went out and bought their record. Some of the best money i spent :)
The Pretty Reckless is post-grunge, hard rock and alternative rock, there not metal at all yet there far from it and Flyleaf is hard rock and alternative rock, they do have some metal n there music but there confirmed a rock band.
jmohlerr i do! Krysta Cameron definitely should have been on this. Even though she was the original lead singer not the newest one. Though the band broke up recently :(

I don't care what you people say about Evanescence, their first album was Nu Metal & their second was Gothic Metal, & I think it's good shit & I don't think of them as a one hit wonder band at all with songs like everyone's fool, going under, call me when you're sober, & lithium.
PATRiCKFBi MetalHead im an evanescence fan too. but always thought they'd be more alternative rock. but I thought the same about within temptation so I'm prob not good with genres
While I really like Evanescence, I clearly prefer some other bands with female lead over them. They have some really great songs but they seem too similar imo. Other bands like Epica and Within Temptation are more diverse with albums that actually sound different from each other. In the case of Evanescence, their first albums sound a lot like their newer ones while Epica for example developed their music much more as time went on (just compare the phantom agony to any of their newer albums).
A riddle/joke: How do Hitler and Lzzy Hale, one of the singers of the band Halestorm, compare and contrast? They both have mean and angry demeanors. However, one has a moustache while the other has none!
They are all worth a spot, Nighwish, Evenesence, Jinjer, Halestorm, Within Temptation, In this Moment.. but my all favourite is Arch Enemy, and Alissa is my absolute favourite of the female lead singers 🤟😝
I listen to a lot of japanese metal band with girls. Not only metal mixed with pop like Babymetal, there are also japanese girls bands doing other kinds of metal too. Here are a few that I like : -Exist Trace, which is/was a visual kei band. Now they have some electro sounds too. They are very well known. -Aldious, which is power metal (please correct me if I'm wrong). -Fate Gear, they use a steampunk esthetic. -Galmet, they define themselves as melodic death metal. -Bridear, I guess it's power metal too ? Not sure... -PassCode, they use pop sounds, autotune, electro sounds and screamo. For those who know the band Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas, it's similar. -Ladybaby, it's similar to Babymetal. They use to have a male singer too, but he left the band. Now they are a four girls band. -Well Babymetal was is the video, but I can't not list it. -GangLion, which is more hard rock than metal, I guess. There are also some great japanese metal bands not entirely made of girls, but with girls in them. For example : -Cross Vein, it's visual kei, similar to Versailles, but the singer is a girl. -Magistina Saga, visual kei too. They take inspiration from fairy tales. -Yosei Teikoku, they are great and they are especially known for the opening of Mirai Nikki. -Unlucky Morpheus, they started as a Touhou metal band, now they have their own songs. There's the singer Fuki, who also has a solo career and is in several other bands, and the violonist Jill. -Mardelas, with Marina, the former singer of Destrose. -Blood Stain Child had two female singers, though now they're back with their first male singer. There are other bands of course, but I don't know all of them. I'm interested if you know some other good japanese metal bands with girls ^^.
what..the..fuck this list was terrible i love Evanescence, but they are FAR from metal and how can you not even include In This Moment?! They are extremely well known and successful.
I knew Evanescence would be on this list before I even clicked the video but the disappointment was still there. I love them but they're definitely not metal.
I'm not too surprised my favorite band didn't make it even to the mentions :c but still saddens me that Unleash the Archers wasn't mentioned. you guys should check it out :D great vocals and great music
mentioning nightwish, epica, evanescence and within temptation brought me back to the times a few years ago, when i listened to symphonic and gothic metal, for a moment
the pretty reckless isn't metal, there hard rock, alternative rock, post-grunge, and blues rock, there is a difference out of all of those, I don't think new years day is not noticeable enough compared to these bands, and yea in this moment should definitely be on this list.
You ought to dig into the huge number of all females bands in japan. Having the second largest music industry in the world, its incredible to see how common it is for women there to be involved as much as men esp. in the rock/metal genre. Some of the best ones imo are Band Maid, lovebites, Doll$boxx, Aldious, Mary's Blood and Bridear. You'd be surprised to know that this has been the case since the early 80s and the only reason why its become rare to see females in these genre of music today is probably because of Japan's strict copyright laws like prohibiting even fancams in their concerts and their reliance on tradition music distribution systems rather than digital and online medium like youtube. Its only been a few years since Japanese artist have started to open up their music to the international audiences through their youtube channels and such. Jpop idol groups managed by few of the biggest music labels were pretty much the only ones that barely surfaced early on but things are starting to change rapidly esp. with babymetal making waves recently and while it also further adds to the 'unique' characteristics that some japanese media is already known for but for better or for worse, its definitely proved that online presence is crucial today. And the best part is the huge rock/metal scene there is gradually starting to realize that they are being very well received by the international viewers and this has led to many of them finally releasing their contents online. A majority of them probably still remain buried but things are definitely changing albeit slowly.
1- infected rain 2-spiritbox 3- straight line stitch 4- butcher babies 5- arch enemy (with angela) 6- in this moment ( only the first 2 albums) 7- jinjer 8- kittie 9-deadlock 10- walls of jericho female fronted bands are the best 🤘🤘🤘
More metal and better than Evenescence, but they're still fairly young. If there was a top ten hybrid metal bands with a female lead, they'd better be top 5
Pissed they aren't on here, along with Unleash the Archers and Once Human. Glad to see Jinjer, Arkona and Arch Enemy made the list in some way. (Fucking Nightwish at #1.... GTFO!)
absolutely. After Tarja was asked to leave, I lost interest after their 1st album with the replacement girl whom I forget her name. Watching Jansen sing and perform gives everyone the Floorgasm I only discovered a few weeks ago that Floor was now with Nightwish since 2016. I did know she was with Nightwish to finish the tour in 2013 after they gave the other girl the boot, but I thought it was a temporary thing as Floor had ReVamp (they weren't very good and could do floor Justice I wonder how they'll replace Marko now, He complimented Floor so well
Finally MsMojo is spot on with this rank even when amaranthe was left aside the top ten and 3 first places are right 🤘 those three bands have influenced and changed the female metal scene remarkably. Amazing singer Floor Jansen.
Nice list but: Nightwish is my fave and deserved their spot so I am ok with that. Halestorm and Evanescence should definately be higher :( Within Temptation is an awesome band so I won't complain 😂 Xandria NEEDED a spot guys :(
Wtf.. You missed some SERIOUS Goddesses. like In This Moment and New Years Day... You cant have Women vocals without In this Moment.. Not even a mention.

well at least there on the bottom on the list. there mostly hard rock and confirmed hard rock. but they also have a small amount of metal n there songs.
scifino1 I was just thinking about this post on my way in to work. the line is so blurred on bands like Halestorm that you can't really definitively say one way or the other.
Love Halestorm and Evanescence, but they shouldn't be here. Not Metal. Again, no Doro? And Lita Ford is more influential and more Metal than the aforementioned 2. Even if Hair Metal. Delain, Leaves Eyes, and The Gathering should've all been somewhere here. And Straight Line Stitch and Kittie if you want Nu Metal on here. But seriously, how can you snub Doro? That's like making a greatest Metal bands list and snubbing Priest, Maiden, Sabbath, Scorpions, Motorhead or Dio.
halestorm has a small amount of metal n there songs but there music is mostly hard rock and there confirmed hard rock and evanescence is metal like has metal n there music and also rock too but there also confirmed a rock band amy lee said n a interview back n 2003 "we are definitely a rock band"
You guys are still not even gonna mention New Years Day and Ash Costello's awesome vocals? I know they're not the heaviest metal band, but they're really good.
They are not a metal band. They are a hardrock band. There is a reason they were moved to the Another Century label from Century media. Century media deals with Metal bands. Another Century deals with hardrock bands. Why is that so hard for people like you to get?
+Delain124 I had no idea they used to be with Century Media. I've never over-analyzed NYD's music, or really thought about it, but I can see why they'd probably fit into the "hard rock" label.
mjolnerd Here's the thing the if NYD were to tour with Delain. Delain has more metal riffs going on. On top of that the whole set up of Delain is metal they then mix in the other sounds. NYD does not have the metal riffs. That's not to say they don't have riffs at all. But if you start counting them then soon you can say just about any band is metal. KANSAS has riffs in there songs but it does not make them a metal band.
All time favorites, in this moment, Kittie, black brair and semblant, just to name a very very few. So much talent in metal, 10 picks bare scratches the surface.
Although Lacuna Coil is my #1, I do also watch this channel to get myself exposed to bands I've never heard of, even if their the kinds I'm not too fond of.
Yeah so fucking what. Women like Floor, Simone, and Sharon have been doing it long and are far better and the bands they are in have all done more for metal then Maria.
Joshua Graham No they have not do much to really push the genre forward or even open up doors for other bands. No like the three women I just named. That's why you don't have other bands such as New Years Day (who are not metal) on here. I don't agree with having Eva on here seeing as how they are not metal. But on the other hand they opened up the door for people to find bands like Epica and Nightwish and helped along with bands like Epica and Nightwish bring more women into metal.
Joshua Graham I will put it to you this way when In This Moment is play at more really big metal fests then you can get back to me. As it stands though they just are not that big. I mean they have yet to even play Graspop or Wacken Open Air. Those are the two biggest metal fests in the damn world. They have to play at either one at some point if they want to really be talked about along side bands like Epica, Within Temptation, Halestorm, Nightwish, etc.

ik!!!!! I wanted to see them on this list!!!!
THIS!
In the Hard Rock video. Not metal.

1. Within Temptation
2. Epica
3. Nightwish
4. Lacuna coil
5. Amaranthe

Same
That's how you know who are halestorm freaks lol don't worry I am the same way
That's how you know who are halestorm freaks lol don't worry I am the same way
I've just discovered them recently and I love them
Haha so am i a simple guy
Excellent list! I saw several of my favorites, including Nightwish (of course), Within Temptation, and Arch Enemy. One I would add as an honorable mention is Eluveite. While Anna Murphy was "co"-lead vocals, she was incredible. After her departure last year, Nichole stepped in and is also amazing.
Also: Ancient Bards has excellent female vocals: one of my all time favorite songs is "Through My Veins".
One of my favourite band is "Trees of Eternity". That ghosty vocal gives me goosebumps
Omg I love Trees of eternity!
#5 Lacuna Coil
#4 Halestorm
#3 Evanescence
#2 Nightwish (Tarja)
#1 Within Temptation
Swap #4 and #3, and I'm with you
YOU FORGOT "IN THIS MOMENT"
OMG. YOUR LIST IS INCOMPLETE!
You guys should check out Aghora. That band has a Female Lead, but I don't know if they are ever going to release another album.
Flingship373 Yeah, but man... HAHAHA it took me so long to get into their music!
is that the band that sang minds reality and atmas heave? I FUCKING LOVE THAT BAND. good progressive metal with lady vocals
I really glad Halestorm made the list!! I'm a huge fan of them and Lzzy Hale!!
Thank you for including within temptation! my inner 10-years-ago teen is hyped
No In This Moment????
In This Moment is fantastic. I don't know how hey didn't put it here.
John Kravich I didn't watch the video yet... now I'm triggered
Agreed!!!
I waited to see if they were in this video just to be upset they werent
John Kravich that's what I thought as well
How do you have Halestorm but not In This Moment🤨🤨🤨🤨
Because In This Moment sucks live
@@laurenblake659 But they are still a metal band while Evanescence is not.
@@SisterTheohild and like i said Maria's vocals suck live anymore and she changes clothes 200 times
@@laurenblake659 Maybe but on this list should be metal bands and Evanescence is not a metal band. And you can not tell me that Evanescence are metal bevause they are not. They are an alternative rock band.
@@Brotherofthe4thCompany in person? Kinda, but i still enjoy their music. But i wouldn't consider Maria top tier with vocals at all
I can't believe Kittie didn't make the list.
Yea same here WTF
Yet evanescence does. They’re wack as fuck
Those were the band with female lead, meaning rest (or most) of the band is male. So Kittie does not qualify for this. But I love them too :)
Girlschool was 9, and they are all-female as mentioned in the video.
Oh, so it was, my mistake.
Within temptation got me into symphonic metal. They're still one of my favourite metal bands.
I am so old that i remember Girlschool as a warm-up band for Rainbow on the "Rainbow Rising" tour in denmark back in the days.
I liked them very much. Even went out and bought their record. Some of the best money i spent :)
If Arch Enemy isn't on here...
You had me worried for a while there
I thought they were number one, my heart broke
+GrahfMetal yeah well I love them, and I have seen them so
GrahfMetal
I like Nightwish more though :D
+toreswe basically metal is life :)
Other HM's:
In This Moment
Butcher Babies
The Pretty Reckless
Doro
Kittie
Straight Line Stitch
Delian
Leaves Eyes
The Gathering
Flyleaf
The Pretty Reckless is post-grunge, hard rock and alternative rock, there not metal at all yet there far from it and Flyleaf is hard rock and alternative rock, they do have some metal n there music but there confirmed a rock band.
Daniel Mart nobody remembers IWrestledABearOnce?
jmohlerr i do! Krysta Cameron definitely should have been on this. Even though she was the original lead singer not the newest one. Though the band broke up recently :(
@daniel mart thank u very much i very mucg agree
My top 10(in no particular order)
1. Tarja Turunen (favorite Nightwish singer)
2. Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation)
3. Brittney Slayes (Unleash the Archers)
4. Courtney Laplante (Spiritbox)
5. Tatiana Shmailyuk (Jinjer)
6. Charlotte Wessels (Delain)
7. Elize Ryd (Amaranth)
8. Vicky Psarakis (the Agonist)
9. Jessie Williams (Ankor)
10. Fuki (Unlucky Morpheus)
Right she's amazing singer every one sucks who dislikes her
Evanescence is definitely good... But there's nothing metal about them. Nu-Rock, Gothic Rock, Hard Rock, sure.... They're not metal tho
Lol Evanescence is soo "metal" let me tell you.
What happened to In This Moment and The Pretty Reckless???
Flingship373 I'd like to point out the fact that rock is a very large genre of music where metal and metalcore and other sub genres are
Flingship373 I listen to Dorothy all the time..... I like all there stuff
Agreed!! Maria is easly #1!!!
This is specifically metal. Make your own list. ;)
right on who in the hell put this list together
The fact that Unleash the Archers isn’t here is absurd. Brittney’s voice could revive a dead man
underrated comment
A riddle/joke:
How do Hitler and Lzzy Hale, one of the singers of the band Halestorm, compare and contrast?
They both have mean and angry demeanors.
However, one has a moustache while the other has none!
They are all worth a spot, Nighwish, Evenesence, Jinjer, Halestorm, Within Temptation, In this Moment.. but my all favourite is Arch Enemy, and Alissa is my absolute favourite of the female lead singers 🤟😝
I listen to a lot of japanese metal band with girls. Not only metal mixed with pop like Babymetal, there are also japanese girls bands doing other kinds of metal too. Here are a few that I like :
-Exist Trace, which is/was a visual kei band.
For example :
-Cross Vein, it's visual kei, similar to Versailles, but the singer is a girl.
I'm interested if you know some other good japanese metal bands with girls ^^.
what..the..fuck
this list was terrible
i love Evanescence, but they are FAR from metal
and how can you not even include In This Moment?!
They are extremely well known and successful.
Exactly my thought on Evanescence! It's not even close to metal wtf
ikr. in this moment is amazing.
I knew Evanescence would be on this list before I even clicked the video but the disappointment was still there. I love them but they're definitely not metal.
I came in thinking "In This Moment" too. They sing one of my favorite metal songs.
ik if u look on iTunes evanescence's music is on iTunes and there section on iTunes is rock. anyways iTunes is not wrong.
My favorites are Eluveitie, Evanescene and Nightwish
I'm not too surprised my favorite band didn't make it even to the mentions :c but still saddens me that Unleash the Archers wasn't mentioned. you guys should check it out :D great vocals and great music
Why didn't In the Moment make it on here?
Shoulda had the #1
Sweet Pea RIGHT! I LOVE THEM I SAW THEM TWICE IN CONCERT
mentioning nightwish, epica, evanescence and within temptation brought me back to the times a few years ago, when i listened to symphonic and gothic metal, for a moment
1 Nightwish
2 Evanscence
3 Burning Witches
4 Xandria
5 Bayond The Black
6 Delain
7 Lyriel
8 Within Temptation
9 Semblant

9. Girlschool
8. Walls of Jericho
7. Epica
6. Lacuna Coil
5. Otep

2. Arch enemy
1. Nightwish
Tatiana Shmayluk from Jinjer is an amazing awesome singer she is # 1 now in 2017/18/19 . . .
She’s good but she ain’t no Brittney Hayes from unleash the archers
Tatiana Shmayluk would mop the floor with Brittney Hayes' a$$.... no comparison...
What about In this Moment, New Years Day, The Pretty Reckless?
Cassandra Cronje Ik, nobody ever mentions them, also butcher babies.
Alex Ulasinska New Year's Day doesn't have nearly enough credit, ash is amazing
the pretty reckless isn't metal, there hard rock, alternative rock, post-grunge, and blues rock, there is a difference out of all of those, I don't think new years day is not noticeable enough compared to these bands, and yea in this moment should definitely be on this list.
Pretty Reckless should be included. Lyrics have morbid themes.
no they shouldn't cuz they are not metal.
1- infected rain
2-spiritbox
3- straight line stitch
4- butcher babies
5- arch enemy (with angela)
6- in this moment ( only the first 2 albums)
7- jinjer
8- kittie
9-deadlock
10- walls of jericho
female fronted bands are the best 🤘🤘🤘
What about Amaranthe?
More metal and better than Evenescence, but they're still fairly young. If there was a top ten hybrid metal bands with a female lead, they'd better be top 5
Amaranthe is the best! Digital World is my anthem. I was sorry to see they weren't on here.
Yooo i forgot about them!! Thank you!
They should be here. Great band.
Pissed they aren't on here, along with Unleash the Archers and Once Human. Glad to see Jinjer, Arkona and Arch Enemy made the list in some way.
(Fucking Nightwish at #1.... GTFO!)
Nightwish was saved by Floor Jansen
Yes mam! Amen!
Its not that Annette was bad. By all means, she was talented. It was just eclipsed heavily by Tarja and Floor (which are incredibly high bars)
@@fatcarl76 Exactly. Hard to follow a voice like Tarja's.
absolutely. After Tarja was asked to leave, I lost interest after their 1st album with the replacement girl whom I forget her name. Watching Jansen sing and perform gives everyone the Floorgasm
I only discovered a few weeks ago that Floor was now with Nightwish since 2016. I did know she was with Nightwish to finish the tour in 2013 after they gave the other girl the boot, but I thought it was a temporary thing as Floor had ReVamp (they weren't very good and could do floor Justice
I wonder how they'll replace Marko now, He complimented Floor so well
Finally MsMojo is spot on with this rank even when amaranthe was left aside the top ten and 3 first places are right 🤘 those three bands have influenced and changed the female metal scene remarkably. Amazing singer Floor Jansen.
Lizzy hale has an amazing scream and voice...as well as being cute
Nice list but: Nightwish is my fave and deserved their spot so I am ok with that. Halestorm and Evanescence should definately be higher :( Within Temptation is an awesome band so I won't complain 😂 Xandria NEEDED a spot guys :(
top 10 female drummers in rock music??? please!!!

My thoughts exactly.
I love the song The Howling by Within Temptation.
Also what about Xandria?
and they also forgot about Amaranthe
I always felt like Amaranthe was kind of a, "Look we can be Nightwish too" band. They're fun to bump your head to, but they're not original at all.
Halestorm is not metal, they are hard rock
CalmingNight arguable. they definitely fit the definition of metal, but borderline.
well at least there on the bottom on the list. there mostly hard rock and confirmed hard rock. but they also have a small amount of metal n there songs.
what exactly is the definition of metal though?
scifino1 I was just thinking about this post on my way in to work. the line is so blurred on bands like Halestorm that you can't really definitively say one way or the other.
evanescence is rock also
Otep is amazing. I am glad she placed on this version of the list.
Conclusion: Redheads kick ass at heavy metal.
I guess u r talking about Dave Mustaine lol

Charlotte Wessels 🖤
Simone Simons is a kick-ass redhead too.
No Maria Brink of In This Moment?! She’s insane! Their best music videos are the ones she was creative director for, I friggin love her!🤘🏼👯♀️🤟🏼
Love Halestorm and Evanescence, but they shouldn't be here.
Dana Chappell they are metal
halestorm has a small amount of metal n there songs but there music is mostly hard rock and there confirmed hard rock and evanescence is metal like has metal n there music and also rock too but there also confirmed a rock band amy lee said n a interview back n 2003 "we are definitely a rock band"
My favorite bands with female leads are Halestorm and Evanescence
Cmon WatchMojo People who don't even know what heavy metal is could tell you That evanascanence is rock
A good 80% of the time atleast
You guys are still not even gonna mention New Years Day and Ash Costello's awesome vocals? I know they're not the heaviest metal band, but they're really good.
They are not a metal band. They are a hardrock band. There is a reason they were moved to the Another Century label from Century media. Century media deals with Metal bands. Another Century deals with hardrock bands. Why is that so hard for people like you to get?
+Delain124 I had no idea they used to be with Century Media. I've never over-analyzed NYD's music, or really thought about it, but I can see why they'd probably fit into the "hard rock" label.
mjolnerd
Here's the thing the if NYD were to tour with Delain.
+Delain124 great point. I'll have to check out more Delain songs.
I only discovered Night Wish a fortnight ago thanks to a friend! Amazing!
All time favorites, in this moment, Kittie, black brair and semblant, just to name a very very few. So much talent in metal, 10 picks bare scratches the surface.

When will In This Moment get any respect? I mean, Maria Brink has been voted Rock Goddess twice now
Yeah so fucking what.
Women like Floor, Simone, and Sharon have been doing it long and are far better and the bands they are in have all done more for metal then Maria.
Delain124 I get what you're saying, but in this moment should've at least made the list.
Joshua Graham
No they have not do much to really push the genre forward or even open up doors for other bands.
Joshua Graham
I will put it to you this way when In This Moment is play at more really big metal fests then you can get back to me.
