I honestly expected to see Yukina from Hanabie or Emily Arima defending the J-metal flag before Babymetal, since they represent a more "metal" image for the Western eye. In any case, the recognition of the pioneers is appreciated.👏👏👏
Emily Arima started out shooting videos in her uniform at karaoke bars when she was in high school. That's how she was discovered for Ladybaby and eventually landed in Passcode. She is awesome.
I can only presume that the reason Lovebites aren't in this list is because they're all-female, and not just female-fronted, Not sure why Frozen Crown aren't here, though. Or Unleash the Archers. I guess Nightwish were too obvious.
The ONLY complaint I have is that several of my favorite metal bands and metal singers weren't listed like Within Temptation, Leave's Eyes, Epica, and Tarja Turunen, I'm sure these fine metal artists would be amazing in ANY list. But I do understand one thing, the metal scene is stacked and packed with THE FINEST performers from all around the world, so I totally understand that you would need a list the size of South America..and it STILL wouldn't be enough to list ALL of the great artists. Thank you for allowing me to state my opinion here, it means a lot to me, and to know that I'm saying Within Temptation, Tarja Turunen, and Evanescence in the same sentence as Babymetal, X Japan, Hanabie, and Band-Maid is the absolute GREATEST. It's crazy how much this has changed during my lifetime. It used to be so rare that when there was a woman singer all the question for the band was just about that. Now it's becoming so common it doesn't raise much eyebrow. And there were so many big bands that didn't even make the list. That tells you there's plenty nowadays.

Elize Ryd is my favorite female vocalist and Amaranthe is one of my favorite band. With that said, I would not label Amaranthe a female fronted. Amaranthe have three vocalist. One female and two male.

the trap of "female fronted" is that the person who amde this list obivously likes likes metalcore. so a whole lot of symphonic/power/modern metal bands i listen to didn't make it to this list. but hey, there are also female fronted bands in other subgenres.
