Haha thank you. But to be fair, then I lost ALL credibility by NOT recognizing The Hound from Game of Thrones, even though he was wearing LITERALLY NO DISGUISE WHATSOEVER. lol
@@DavidvsFilm Tbf he was a lot more hirsute in GOT! The hag, Billie Whitelaw, was in one of the all-time great horror films, The Omen, the leader of the neighbourhood watch, Edward Woodward was the original Equaliser, and the original Wickerman. His last line in this "oh god no" are the same as those in The Wickerman. The twin desk sergeants are played by comedian and musician Bill Bayley, worth checking out. P I Staker is Stephen Merchant, Ricky Gervais's writing partner, check out The Ricky Gervais Show, a podcast they did with their radio producer, that will introduce you to Karl Pilkington, aforementioned producer, that will lead you to the 3 series of "An Idiot Abroad". They wanted someone like Timothy Dalton to play Skinner, then someone said, "why don't we ask him", apparently he jumped at the chance, and said it was one of his favourite roles. It was filmed in Wells in Somerset, which is a city rather than a village, where Edgar Wright grew up. The three judges are Edgar Wright and Nick Frosts mums, and Edgar Wrights old drama teacher.
This film is wild and brilliant! We watched it at school when I was like 15 and I was traumatised for life by that guy getting some church on his head 😂😂 and don't worry Martin Freeman gets promoted to one of the lead roles by the next film 😂. Hobbit and Sherlock hit between this one and World's End. He and Simon are mates anyway but I enjoy that his roles grow acorss the trilogy from basically an extra to bit part to main role. I think also they tried to bring everyone back for film 3 who was in both 1 and 2.
Yeah, Danny's DVD library is almost as big as mine. ... okay mine is a lot bigger, but his is still respectable. And in case you didn't recognize him, the character of Michael ("YARP") was played by Rory McCann, AKA "The Hound" from Game of Thrones.
I would be in awe of a DVD library like yours if that’s true! I don’t pretend to be a smart man, but I was especially ashamed and shocked that I did NOT recognize him, actually. I cannot tell you how much I absolutely loved this movie though.
@@DavidvsFilm I wouldn't feel ashamed or shocked at not recognizing McCann. The first time I saw Hot Fuzz I didn't recognize him immediately either (The character is completely different). He looked familliar, but I couldn't place him until near the end of the movie. And I NEVER placed Cate Blanchett, which you did (as others pointed out) after one second just from her eyes and voice.
If you are disappointed that Steve Coogan and Bill Nighy are on screen for such a short time, spare a thought for Peter Jackson, who only found out how short he was on screen when he first saw the film. He played the “Man dressed as Father Christmas” and was only on screen for 2 seconds.

@@SPKdesign1 It makes sense, though, it's not set in the UK. And that's all I am going to say because I don't want to give any spoilers. 🤣 I may have said too much already!

Thank you!! Oh I plan to. And I did NOTTTTT recognize him, no! Though once someone told me, now I can't unsee it. And also now that I'm rewatching GoT with Marc, I keep waiting for the Hound to say, "Yarp"
NWA are kinda like the AARP? Not really. NWA in the movie is Neighbourhood Watch Alliance. In the UK, a Neighbourhood Watch is typically set up by a handful of concerned residents in an area to act as the eyes and ears for the Police to help reduce crime. Having a Neighbourhood Watch can sometimes reduce house insurance costs (safer area = less crime = less payouts for burglary, vandalism, etc by the insurance company). My understanding is that similar schemes exist in some areas of the US. Whereas the AARP are a lobby group for the rights of older people against age discrimination etc.
Thanks, @WithTwoFlakes! Yeah, I realize this now haha. And I guess I could try and take the stand of "Well THIS division of the NWA is like the AARP given their age..", but not really. lol. Thanks for letting me know!
Love this film. My favourite 3 films are always going to be the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but this is an easy 4th. As for where it was filmed, I may be wrong and I'd welcome anyone correcting me if I am, but I think I read it was filmed in a town called Wells, and it's on my bucket list of places to visit. It seems like such a nice place.
My favorite early performance by Bill Nighy is the 1980 BBC radio play of Lord of the Rings, where he did the voice of Samwise. He is just brilliant in that role, opposite Ian Holm (who was Bilbo in the film trilogy) as Frodo.
My husband and I quote this movie (and Shaun of the Dead) pretty much on a daily basis 😁 Also, this is the first movie I remember watching that made me realize I should pay close attention to all the details given throughout a movie to help solve the mystery P.S. Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings director) plays the Santa that stabs him in the hand at the beginning! Michael was played by the same guy who played the Hound in Game of Thrones.

Lol I love that description of the 1973 The Wicker Man as "the good version". I could barely make it through the Nicholas Cage version. Plus, Christopher Lee was delightful in the original.
@B.C. Although it was apparently a troubled production, the resulting film was both entertaining and disturbing in equal measure, both Woodward and Lee were great 👍
This is mainly a pastiche of "The Wicker Man" - where a doomed police officer (played by Edward Woodward, who plays the head of the NWA here) goes to a remote Scottish island only to discover that the villagers are all in a pagan cult, with a human sacrifice being burned alive every year ... Woodward's final line as he's being burned is "God! No!" ... the same final line as he has in this movie :) ... such a great movie, but it was later remade starring Nicholas Cage - and it sucked ass! [I hope Americans learn the lesson - and DON'T remake Hot Fuzz!]
Yes, that was Cate Blanchett in a cameo role. Another LOTR cameo, apart from Martin Freeman, is Peter Jackson. Yes, that Pete. He played Santa who stabbed Nicholas in the montage.
The N.W.A. is a parody of the thoerized N.W.O. (New World Order) complete with the village elders being a cultish Illuminati-styled cabal. LOL The film writing is superb comedy!
Yeah so I muddled the comparison to the AARP (I knew what I meant in my head but it didn’t come out right lol), but I TOTALLY didn’t connect NWA to NWO! That’s freaking hilarious. Ok I like that.
What I love about this movie is Nick Angel is a great-cop like Barney Fife. He's not a Clint Eastwood renegade, he's as by-the-book as it gets until he discovers the local-police is as corrupt as it gets. Even then, his tactics are non-lethal.
This is only second to Airplane, in my opinion. I love this movie, it's hilarious, one of the most quotable movies. And the cameos are amazing (such as Peter Jackson being Father Christmas). I ADORE it
Unfortunately, the Chief Inspector played by Bill Nighy at the beginning gives it all away at the beginning of the movie. If you pay close attention to what he says… Plus you did so awesomely at recognizing all those actors, especially from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. But you missed The Hound from GoT!!!! Arrrgh!!!! Anyways you got a new subscriber.

Olivia Colman has said that she owes her "serious" career and her discovery by Hollywood to Paddy Considine (they met on this movie) who cast her in his film Tyrannosaur which won a slew of awards; he believed she could give a shattering performance when she didn't.

Timothy Dalton played a good bad guy in The Rocketeer movie too. Lots of big names here, including Edward Woodward and Paul Freeman. The guys are going up against James Bond, The Equalizer, and the bad archeologist from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
There are three Harry Potter actors in this film : Jim Broadbent (Horace Slughorn), David Bradley (Argus Filch) and Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour - minister of magic)
Shaun of the Dead used to be my favorite of the 3, but I've found myself leaning towards this one recently. No one likes a go-getter, lol. Drinking at 15? Across the pond, that's a late start, lol. The editing is so on point. Haven't seen Bad Boys? Nick Frost was asked to watch 20 films to prepare...he only watched Bad Boys. Can't wait for you to get to the next one.

When Nick Frost explains how the Michael Armstrong character lives with his mom and his sister, and that it's the same person, he means that literally the mom is the sister as well.
Basically Alabama
it’s filmed in englands smallest city Wells
there’s a tour if you ever come to the uk
my dad grew up there so we didn’t go on it but it should be good
Oh cool! I think I had a few people point out the city, but I believe you're the first who said it was the smallest city in England, so thanks! I would love to visit. One of my long-term goals for the channel is do vlogs touring the cities where the movies I watch are either filmed or take place, and then pair them with the reaction.
@@DavidvsFilm yeah Wells has a cathedral which means it’s a city
very small doesn’t feel like it should be one 🤣🤣
I think hot fuzz is my fav of the three, but all of them are great! I actually went and saw a marathon of them in the theater. So much fun!
I am seriously impressed that you recognised Cate Blanchett from her eyes! Clearly a man who had no problems with not knowing people during Covid mask wearing.
I may not know you well, but I ***KNEW*** you'd like it. 😊 Love this movie!❤
Well clearly you do because you were RIGHT! Lol. The World’s End next month!
@@DavidvsFilm I actually haven't seen that one yet. I guess I've got a month to get on that!
@@d.t.nelson8805 Haha well thanks, that makes me feel better then!
If you are disappointed that Steve Coogan and Bill Nighy are on screen for such a short time, spare a thought for Peter Jackson, who only found out how short he was on screen when he first saw the film. He played the “Man dressed as Father Christmas” and was only on screen for 2 seconds.
Yes!! I was shocked a) to find out that was him afterwards, and b) that it was so quick. However, for what it’s worth, a damn good cameo! 😁
On the swear box the C word isn't only the highest, it's also the only one without censorship.
Ahhh true!
Hot Fuzz was filmed in Wells.
Thanks! Looks nice. And now I know there’s some feisty old folks there if I visit :)
A stellar cast all the way through.😊💚
Ah, but the actors that you see who aren't in Harry Potter, are in either Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, or Doctor Who. ;)
I'm surprised not many reactors recognise Belloq from Raiders of the Lost Arc.
Oh I didn’t at all!!! Holy crap! I don’t think anyone’s even pointed that out yet. Wow. Thanks
The Father Christmas who stabbed him at the start was Peter Jackson!
I did not recognize him AT ALL, though it warms my heart knowing it was him haha. That’s awesome
also I love that you believed in Danny.
always and forever lol
Mr Weaver (Edward Woodward) was 'The Equaliser' in the eighties. The Vicar was Paul Freeman who was Belloq in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'.
I love this movie and it is one of my all time favorite movies period...... also when they say the country thats like what 1-2 hours west lol. Just saying.
And the bug fucker is the Mountain from Got
big
Hahaha so I read your first comment before expanding to see your correction, and I've been wondering who the "bug f*cker" was for the last hour.
@@DavidvsFilm haha
Once you have done the Trilogy, look for "Paul".
Paul is hilarious, you don't see many reactions to it.
@@tinastar1972 It's missing all the cameos by British actors but still a lot of fun.
@@SPKdesign1 It makes sense, though, it's not set in the UK. And that's all I am going to say because I don't want to give any spoilers. 🤣 I may have said too much already!
After you've watched "The Worlds' End" (because you can't NOT complete the trilogy) and you want more Frost/Pegg, you should check out "Paul".
Also, you not sure if you recognised "Michael" as "The Hound" from Game of Thrones? Bit of a character shift!
@ 36:00 Chekhov's mine.
👏👏👏👏😁
He was also a lot of fun as Slartibartfast in the 2005 film "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" :)
Didn't the chief play Prof Slughorn in HP though?
yes it's cate blanchett
My husband and I quote this movie (and Shaun of the Dead) pretty much on a daily basis 😁 Also, this is the first movie I remember watching that made me realize I should pay close attention to all the details given throughout a movie to help solve the mystery
P.S. Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings director) plays the Santa that stabs him in the hand at the beginning! Michael was played by the same guy who played the Hound in Game of Thrones.
It’s hilarious! I can see why you guys do. And Oh. My. God. Are you serious?? I didn’t look twice at Santa, but I saw The Hound the whole movie and didn’t even recognize him!!! What??
I couldn't believe you recognized Cate Blanchett (I've never seen a reactor who picked her out before) but missed The Hound!
@@melthinks Ha, first for everything I guess. With her it was the eyes. The voice threw me a little because it didn’t sound like her normal voice, but the eyes. The hound I am COMPLETELY ashamed of myself. I didn’t recognize him at all.

There are many other notable actors, but theses are the main ones not mentioned
Excellent reaction 😊😊😊
Having Edward Woodward and Paul Freeman in your movie must be quite a kick.
@@Panzer4F2 indeed 😊😊😊
Thank you so much William! A lot of them were not immediately recognizable or known to me, every single one of them were outstanding. All hilarious with their one liners or facial expressions.
You know that "Yarp" guy is the Hound in Game of Thrones right?
Yes, that was Cate Blanchett in a cameo role. Another LOTR cameo, apart from Martin Freeman, is Peter Jackson. Yes, that Pete. He played Santa who stabbed Nicholas in the montage.
What???? Ok I had no idea on that one! Wow!
He stabbed him in the hand. Its in the video. Do your research. 🤔
@@DavidvsFilm Also, the guy who played big guy Michael "yarp/narp" is Rory McCann, who'd go on to be in Game of Thrones as The Hound.
@@wesleyrodgers886 what did they say that was incorrect?
The N.W.A. is a parody of the thoerized N.W.O. (New World Order) complete with the village elders being a cultish Illuminati-styled cabal. LOL
The film writing is superb comedy!
Yeah so I muddled the comparison to the AARP (I knew what I meant in my head but it didn’t come out right lol), but I TOTALLY didn’t connect NWA to NWO! That’s freaking hilarious. Ok I like that.
The only thing I'd suggest is that it might be useful to edit in an image of some of your references when you mention seeing the cast in other films
Great suggestion! Thanks :)
I ADORE it
Also, at 33:00 you say "that guy looks really strong"... Of course he's strong, he's The Hound
Damn bro you really talked over my favourite scene😢
Aww I’m sorry! Yeah, hazard of the trade with reactions- I’m bound to be talking over something that someone loves :( Which one was it?
Opinions on the third are divided, which is a shame because it's arguably Frost's best performance.
I mean I have to watch it though, right?? How could I not after seeing the first 2 ;)

Hey Alexandra!! It was so, so great.
Unfortunately, the Chief Inspector played by Bill Nighy at the beginning gives it all away at the beginning of the movie. If you pay close attention to what he says…
Plus you did so awesomely at recognizing all those actors, especially from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.
But you missed The Hound from GoT!!!! Arrrgh!!!!
Anyways you got a new subscriber.
Thank you so much for the sub!! Yeah Hot Fuzz was as great a movie as the fantastic others of theirs I’ve come to love. Do you know that months later I’m STILL kicking myself for not recognizing The Hound?? lol. I guess it’s just the younger look and the short hair, but still, ROOKIE MISTAKE!

Olivia Colman has said that she owes her "serious" career and her discovery by Hollywood to Paddy Considine (they met on this movie) who cast her in his film Tyrannosaur which won a slew of awards; he believed she could give a shattering performance when she didn't.
Get out of here! That’s awesome. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, one of THE BEST aspects of having this UA-cam channel is the slew of information I learn from you guys in the comments. Thank you so much for sharing this, @Jane at Home!
The guy in the purple tracksuit is called p cocker and the way he was walking is called peacocking
Also I love how they try to have some of the same actors but in different roles throughout the three movies Shaun of the Dead,Hot Fuzz and the World's End.
not sure if you know too but the "yarp" guy is the actor who plays The Hound in GoT.
I am just now hearing this, and I had NO idea!!! He looks so different, I didn’t even recognize him.

YESSSSS!!!! one of my absolute favourite films
It was epic!
I highly recommend you watch one of those "things you didnt know" videos about this movie. there are so many great details about this movie. Like all the great cameos and all the really cool gags. I also highly recommend the movie _Grand Budapest Hotel._ It's directed by Wes Anderson and it's one of my favorites
It was filmed in Wells, Somerset which is actually a city---albeit the smallest in England.
Went there back in 2008. Lovely place.
Love these movies! So glad you're reacting to it. And Timothy Dalton is hilarious(I still see him as James Bond...along with Remington Steel Bond 😂)
His plant...his one and only plant. Not sure why but it cracks me up!🌱
Timothy Dalton played a good bad guy in The Rocketeer movie too. Lots of big names here, including Edward Woodward and Paul Freeman. The guys are going up against James Bond, The Equalizer, and the bad archeologist from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
@@Panzer4F2 You're so right!!!😂I forgot about The Rocketeer (haven't seen it in over a decade). What a great collection of stars in this film.😊💚
There are three Harry Potter actors in this film : Jim Broadbent (Horace Slughorn), David Bradley (Argus Filch) and Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour - minister of magic)
He is really strong. It's Sandor Clegane
Baby Driver - a movie by the same director, is also great, not the same actors and completely unrelated to the corneto trilogy but it has a good cast and a similar editing style well worth seeing
I love how Frost's character runs like an upset 7 year old!😂
The fence jumping cracks me up.
