Hey, you there - about to make a comment about cut areas or waxing poetic about how the original is untouchable... even when among the fandom it was already a contested, divisive entry? Like three people beat you to it. Just a headsup. I figure it saves us all a lot of time.

Uh, @trevorbruce1267, broski, my dude - he clearly takes out the helicopter's rear rotor with a projectile. That's not hard for Nemesis to do. He could've thrown practically anything made of metal or concrete to do that. It's not exactly a challenge to Google this if your memory is that foggy.
Also, unless you're new to horror games, almost nobody ever believes the helicopter, train, bus, tank, RV, etc. "to safety" is gonna make it. Especially not when there's a persistent boss and you haven't KO'd them yet. That's basic horror story logic. It'd be like if Tommy Jarvis showed up with a shotgun halfway through F13, shoots Jason, and the rest of the film is just group therapy about the aftermath.
By instead emphasizing Jill plowing into Nemesis with the car, it establishes how DAMN HARD Nemesis is gonna be to kill. It's the exact sort of pacing and escalation as Mr. X and the dad from RE7 get, all just in a shorter package.

I loved it more than 2's remake. My only complaints were not having Nemesis ambush you like the original, and the randomization. Thank God the puzzles were dumbed down because in the original they were ridiculous

Hit the nail on the head that the reason people disliked re3r was context - because the gameplay is peak. If the exact same game was released as an re2r dlc, it would be universally praised. The dodge move was also uniquely well done

My only problems really is the dumb and ABSURD difficulty spike in final nemesis on Nightmare and Inferno and a slight lack of randomness in gameplay. But that's not enough to keep me away cause speedrunning this game is honestly ridiculously fun

It wasn’t ever a bad game in my eyes, I enjoyed it a lot especially the amount of stuff available for new runs from the credit shop.
My problem lies in the fact it’s not worth £40. It’s like you said, Separate Ways DLC is similar in size and stuff to RE3, yet it’s about £10. The math ain’t mathin'.

RE3 Remake is exactly what it should be a face paced action adventure survival horror game that keeps you pushing forward to the very end.
In terms of comparison to the original we have a problem in the fundamental design.
RE3 RE is a first/3rd person shooter, where as the original is a third person fixed angle shooter. At the end of the day they are completely different games wearing the same skin.
I can understand people's disappointment in the camera system change as it fundamentally changes the game, however when assessing the game for what it is it's near flawless. To date it's my most replayed RE game next to the remake or RE1 which I've been playing since it was released day 1 on Nintendo Gamecube.
Edit: fair warning...I really like RE5

For once someone who cuts this game some slack, it's not a perfect game but it's pretty solid all the way around. Haven't played many games that feel this polished while also combining with the 90s action move cheese. It's a rare experience these days. I feel like people have this perfect idea of what a survival horror game should be and if a horror game doesn't check all those boxes well then it's just trash. Even Callisto Protocol is worth a playthrough, despite it's own laundry list of problems.

  • @shadowswept9167

Absolutely a great game, but still massively dissappointing considering the original had more gameplay, interesting features like branching story paths, and a great Mercenaries mode that was all left out of the remake. Coming after Resident Evil 2, which also left out alternate paths but had a decent variation of the original's Extra Game, this was a major upset and implied they were more concerned with their failed online game that got packaged in with it.
If they released a 'Directors Cut' that removed the Nemesis Circle-Jerk outside of the Clocktower and restored the interior of the clocktower in full, then added the Mercenaries game to it, it would probably be the best of all of them.
Bonus points if they delete the nightmare/inferno mode and power coin crap and add an Arrange Game instead.

I feel like if the RE 3 remake was anything else than an RE 3 Nemesis remake it'd have been considered a good game. The characters feel like they are wrong that's more of Clare than Jill & Nemesis is not Nemesis & Carlos & the Mercs are done wrong. I have no Barry & I must scream. The original was better designed for its place & like just they did a bad job with the remake of a great game. Jill is a different person to Clare & the remake just feels like you know Clare the head strong & hot headed bad ass in biker gear & Jill is the sweet & caring but still very much devoted & able to do whatever it takes to survive when it comes to that. She doesn't feel like the person to spew one liners but instead well just play the original RE3 & the remake or original of 1 to see her as she is. I just don't like them changing her like the outfit is fine but I think the originals outfit just shows how unprepared she is for this she was getting ready to leave the city before & is caught just before she can get out & I feel Barry not coming to save her as an ending is dumb as the cannon ending surely has him save Jill as he would never leave her behind its not the man he is RE Revelations 2 shows how devoted he is to his friends & Family coming in to save Morea after Clare tells her she may be alive on the island. Also Brad is done so badly he was a coward & an A-hole & his death felt impactful because you couldn't help him & his fear makes you terrified when you finally meet the tank that is the og Nemesis. Nemesis is smart & fast he is a match for the player & you need to have ammo & very good skills to out maneuverer & out smart him & he unlike most RE stalkers is the strongest at the start & slowly becomes weaker first he loses his Rocket launcher & gets horribly burnt then he mutates at the end & becomes basically a monster that is so much easier to beat but still takes a lot to kill. Also branching narrative has been a stable since 1 & it was more subtitle there & I like 3's more direct telling of it. I think the Remake of 3 needed a bit more time to be balanced & for Nemesis to be properly implemented. He needed to be a stalker that gave into survival horror not just oh grenade & box thanx once terrifying unpredictable & almost indestructible enemy that dropped very useful loot to the remake where he sometimes just drops you know a few rounds. They made Mister X so well but Nemesis was done wrong. The original did it all so much better.
Also you saying that Nemesis not being able to be in areas is a good reason for not having him in places but that's a criticism the game should be designed for Nemesis first & for most as it is his game he is the reason you don't escape & why you are likely to die. also they cut most areas. 3 deserves another go at the remake & I think a better camera angle would improve it the original camera angle is probably best for the fear in the game as it fills the claustrophobia but in a good way. I just don't like it as it isn't a good remake of a classic & is so much of a downgrade from 2's remake & I wish its pros however did make it to 4 but they are different games. 0, & 1 are small scale with not many zombies or BOWs & take place in very unfamiliar areas of Umbrella's secret labs & as a result are a slower paced game with more focus on item conservation & being unsure what's behind any given door. With the puzzles being the main focus. 2 & 3 are a more claustrophobic area in more familiar areas of a city thrown into terror & notable land marks like the Police station & the Hospital & eventually in 2 umbrella's secret labs under the city & 3 has more of the fact that umbrella controlled it all behind the scenes showing how they had a stake in almost every major business in town. 2 & 3 have more enemies & more of a stalker type enemy 2 having Mr X & William Burken & 3 having the titular Nemesis. Then we have Code Veronica which is hard to explain more zombies & a lot larger scale with me not knowing how to explain it. Then we have 4 which is a slow paced game with less focus on puzzles & more on action but it still does have faced paced sections its just more paced. 5 & 6 are fast paced games with little puzzles & really um are games they are fun but resident evil they kinda aren't. 7 is a confined & slow paced horror game with the main enemies being familiar to you & having deep impact puzzles are back & there are a few generic enemies but most is hiding & boss fights. 8 is like 4 & 7 & I haven't played it so that's how I'll leave it. Revelations 1 & 2 are a return to form & act like the true 5 & 6 in the style of resident evil with puzzles mixed with a faster paced action parts & is a nice blend of the style of 0 to Veronica & 4 with 5 & 6's better parts. These are the mainline cannon games explained as best I can the remakes of 0 to 1 are almost identical to the originals but having better voice acting & adding stuff & helping make them more modern in a way & could work as a replacement to them. 2's remake is a modern classic making a great companion for the original being on power with it having some differences some bad (mainly the lack of Leon & Clare playthroughs affecting loot for the next play through) but most great. 3 however is a shell of 3 but if it was its own game based in the events of racoon city with its own characters & the Mercs being a part of that it would be a great stand alone game. We also have the on rails spinoff games which I don't know much about but really are just the games in a rail shooter mode but giving some cannon timeline. Then we don't talk about operation Racoon city (it is terrible & they ruined hunk.) I feel that I missed one nope but apparently RE 0 has no remake just like RE Veronica it has a HD remaster.
Edit: see the accessibility mode thing in the original RE3 if its one easy difficulty at least you start off with the Assault Rifle. Also I think the RE3 remake to do Nemesis right would need to have the loading point door style to allow nemesis to spawn randomly allowing you to decide to run around due to the way the city feels like an actual city where all areas interlock usually. I do feel like I will one day play the remake as I do think it might be fine but first I have to get 2 & its remake & 4 & 0 & revelations 1 & 2 & 8 & the 3s remake cause I want to finish what I already stared oh & then 4s remake I hope 5s remake fixes it to be a better game as it has potential its just um companion isn't helpful unless 2 player.

The game itself is not the worst, it’s better than RE6 and RE0 in my opinion. But there’s 3 huge issues for me.
    1. The price point- if it was a $10 add on like Seperate Ways no one would’ve cared.
    2. It is blatantly obvious they cut things or ran out of time after the second nemesis fight.
    3. The choice mechanic and super questionable revisions like brad dying to Carlos instead of Nemesis.
If Capcom managed the development of this game better and let it sit for another year it had huge potential to be better than re2

A lot of clues implied that the game was cut (we can see the clocktower and not even go in it… final nemesis seems fused with the gravedigger, in the sewers there’s a machine that probably could have been used for the water treatment facility puzzle with the sample)

No it is not it's nothing more than a soulless cash grab. The clocktower was my favorite level next to the police station but they cut that out. Instead of starting with Jill's famous Samurai Edge Beretta you get a boring and bland Glock which sets the tone for what the game is going to be. There's no buildup to Nemesis he just breaks in through your apartment door, you barely get to explore any of the city, the cut one of the most epic openings in gaming history and replaced it with some ridiculous live action news clipping, they through survival horror out the window and made just another generic action game. There's no defending this game there are tons of other videos all pointing out why this game is a failure.
