This was great, I've been looking for "how do you fix faded paint on a car?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Banayce Wordless Blueprint - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a great one off guide for discovering how to master car body work and spraying techniques minus the headache. I can only assume we look as endearingly nerdy as you guys do when you collaborate and it shows you're authentic. Love it!

Definitely one to keep referring back to. I think knowing these types of damage is essential when having a conversation with clients regarding their detailing solutions. They need to know what to expect as much as you do. You can't promise someone a mirror finish if they have no clear for you to polish! Some of these are caused by improper technique, which I assume will be discussed in 203. The rest... well, nature is a harsh mistress it seems. As always, 10/10 content. You can't learn this stuff in school!

I had a 2010 Black Honda Civic and they actually did a warranty item for the paint on the tops on the dark color cars. They would get crows feet very badly, and part of it was they would measure paint depth to verify it hasn't been repainted. I no longer have that car, but before I got rid of it, Honda repainted the hood, roof, and trunk lid to "fix" the crows feet issue. I had no idea what they were at the time, but I sure am familiar with them now. Luckily I didn't have to repair it on my own dime.
All good stuff (basic info for me due to my experience) but still very interesting. Will be interesting where it goes from here. Larry has some of the best tools in the industry. Rotary buffers don’t always leave swirls and pigtails. Kevin touched on it you must keep pads clean but that’s true for DA’s as well.
I'm planning on a light paint correction (Sonax Final, or Carpro reflect). If I was going to fill in small rock chips, would I do it before the paint correction and allow the correction to even the touch up paint, or do the touch up paint after the corrections?

I've noticed that crows feet tend to happen more on certain makes and models. Like 2nd generation Subaru Legacy/Outbacks and early to mid 2000 chevy/gmc trucks and SUVs. I wonder if it may also have anything to do with how hard or soft the paint is? But doesn't Subaru have softer paint and GM have harder paint?
I Larry great video. I have older cars where the paint is a mix of clear coat and the colour. Here in the UK it switched to colour paint and clear coat layers in 2010. HELP please, I put a waterproof cover over my vehicle due to a bad storm and hail. As I was installing the cover it began to rain so some moister was already trapped. The cover failed to keep the water out since it was a few years old and was always used indoors. I left it on for about a day and a half to dry out. When I removed it I now have some large huge cloudy spots on my hood. The color is silver on the original paint of a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. I waxed the vehicle about 2 weeks prior with some Barret Jackson paste wax, not the best but I usually don't let it go for more than 3-4 months before reapplying. I tried removing one of the stains with some Turtle wax color back with no results. A few days have passed with warm rain free weather and no change. The vehicle is in an area that only gets late morning and early evening sun right now.
Just watched the video and I consider the defects on my car to fall in the scatches category. They are very light, since they were caused by improper drying techniques after a wash. Hey larry, great videos.. I’m hooked! Just bought a 2011 r8.. the guy I bought it from “claims” I just got paint correction/ceramic coated. If this is true, it’s not to the standard that I want (still lot of nicks, what car has been repainted on part of it, there are a couple (bubbles?)). I’d like to perfect this paint/car. How could I tell if it’s actually been ceramic coated. If it has, how could I get around this to make the paint perfect?
Spray some clearcoat on an acrylic panel. Measure the thickness and the UV transmission through it. Now polish it down, measure the remaining thickness and the UV transmission, and you'll find out where the protection is. Not trivial, but you can get an objective answer.
I can't stress enough how much work Larry is doing with his videos. Insane videos with a ton of knowledge from real pros. Hat's off to you, Sir.

Anyone know if you can revive paint damaged over the year UV where the paint looks like its turning white?
Awesome!!! You guys explain we’ll, thanks!!
Awesome stuff..Cant wait for the next one...
Just watched the video and I consider the defects on my car to fall in the scatches category. They are very light, since they were caused by improper drying techniques after a wash. Are you going to develop on each of those categories, especially mine, in future videos? I sure hope so since I really want to know the best solution between either paint correction on just masking with a glaze, wax, etc...
Why is my clear coat bubbling an failing iam trying to save it with wax .... but I fear it might be to late
Hi , i have some questions
i live in UAE temperatures hit 48 degrees Celsius in some areas and dusty weather some times in summer
1-Should my car paint have more layers to last longer for this weather ?
2- After long day under the sun and high temp can i wash my car or should i wait to cool down the body of my car ?
3-Oxidized Paint caused by the sun light make yellow layer on white paint , how to fix it ? how to prevent that to happen again ? I faced that in my 2 cars ,solution was repaint both of them, i need your advise as professional in my case please and thank you again for the ton of knowledge you posted in your channel .
Can anyone tell me about a paint issue on my GMC Yukon? The dealership called it “Checking” I still think it was their car wash but it is all over the roof and most of the hood of my vehicle.
Hi guys! What is a good and budget dual action polisher for beginners like me? I am so desperate to have a good polisher so I can maybe polish my small car( Mini). Thank you!
Great video, as usual !!!!
As Spock would say... fascinating.
But, which Spock?
Hey larry, great videos.. I’m hooked! Just bought a 2011 r8.. the guy I bought it from “claims” I just got paint correction/ceramic coated. If this is true, it’s not to the standard that I want (still lot of nicks, what car has been repainted on part of it, there are a couple (bubbles?)). I’d like to perfect this paint/car. How could I tell if it’s actually been ceramic coated. If it has, how could I get around this to make the paint perfect?
Ok! So how do you fix this !
where's the video about fixing clear coat oxidation? 🤔
Spray some clearcoat on an acrylic panel. Measure the thickness and the UV transmission through it. Now polish it down, measure the remaining thickness and the UV transmission, and you'll find out where the protection is. Not trivial, but you can get an objective answer.
