    The prevost safety coupler is one of those must have tools. It's a game changer once you have one. I purchased one on a whim years back.

    Hi Matt, I just received my order which included 2 swivel couplers, I'm sitting at my desk rotating the coupler. It's awesome like you mention. Thanks for finding these items, like you, I like having the best of the best.

    Will the blue button male connection side of the plug go into an American bought standard compressor - like a Dewalt pancake etc with 1/4" inlet ? Or do I have to replace those too?

    I woke up this morning to my 10 horse air compressor this morning. I have to do a little re-plumbing on my airlines. I had a salesman give me one of those fittings about ten years ago and haven't been able to find where to buy them. I wanna do my whole system with that:) thanks for the video

    I work maintenance at a manufacturing plant, we use swagelok for cu compression fittings, ( 100's of variations) they work very well for that. for non compression water fitings we use parker, I would suggest you stay away from parker water fittings

    Absolutely brilliant product review. I’m looking to purchase these for my shop air lines and wondering if all the green prevost couplers are high flow? As I’m based in the uk I’ve only found a few places that sell them but they don’t stipulate if they are high flow or not.

    I'm a complete amateur and nothing (almost) confuses me as much all aspects of compressed air, from the compressor itself, all through hoses, couplings (in particular) and even the tool itself. I'm still confused, but tempted after watching this video, but will definitely look further into it. Thanks for your effort to spread the knowledge.

    Wurth makes equally high quality couplers, in my opinion the Prevost button can be a pain when you have gloves on. However I don’t think Wurth makes the variety that Prevost does. Festool uses the high flow couplers as well.

    So, is it actually only letting out the air from the device connected to the hose vs. emptying the entire hose out like a traditional connector? The amount of air that released sounded really minimal.

    • @ckotterman
      @ckotterman 5 років тому +1

      Yes, essentially it just depressurizes the tool. Any quick coupler is "self sealing" once you remove the QD. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to change tools while the line is pressurized. The "pop" you get from a traditional coupler is the pressure in the line blowing the tool out of the coupler once you release it to close off the hose and allow you to change. Once you push a new tool in you get the same hiss that you heard as the tool seats. The safety coupler basically retains the tool while the air pressure blows the male end out of the coupler and seals, and when you finish pressing the button it releases the tool. The depressurization is so fast that its basically impossible to shoot the tool out of the coupler.

    RE: AIR RELEASE: You should demonstrate disconnecting an air hose of big pneumatic nailer where there is a ton of air to release.
    RE: 90* couple swivel is amazing, HOWEVER, for the ultimate in maneuverability (construction/roofing nailers) you need the swivel as close to the tool as possible. Some people sell short whip hoses that have the swivel @ the tool end. QUESTION: Do they have a 90* swivel PLUG?
    NOTE: Friend of mine has changed over and I got to handle a Prevost and yes, it is like handling a precision instrument. Since I'm the sort that appreciates that sort of thing, I may have to cave!
