For a country lad who spent 25+ years in the country side before I moved to the concrete jungle. Adrian your videos bring me back to my lovely days in the countryside getting down and dirty and enjoying it. I have to say that your channel is probably the best of its kind on here. Thanks very much for the great work.
Thank you Gerard, I’m glad it brings you back, you know what they say “ you can take a lad out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the lad “ 😜 👍
Nice video. Fair play for given Alan in drone dairies a mention. Good channel. They no heating in them John Deere's Adrian? The only thing Gerry has to heat in the morning is his porridge
Very interesting video Adrian I’m liking that bale splitter more and more😊😊. We put ours in with the soft hands and set the bale on its end. With the bale splitter there would be none of that nonsense.👍👍
Wel Adrian the way we split are bales with the Bale splitter so the Bale doesn't fall back we do one split it the middle of Bale and the drop your prongs on the ground and do another split. I find even when the blade on the splitter is sharp it still falls back. Hope this helps
hi adrian you inspire me alot i really want to be a farmer when i am older thanks for all the lovely videos you bring us bye i will make sure to watch your next video
I like the way to keep on top of things and never seem to be on the back foot. I seen that lime spreader on a few other channels and looks a good job. The dog clip has us in stitches 😅👍🏼
Hello Adrian, I am working my way through all of your videos from oldest to newest. I'm in south-suburban Minneapolis, Minnesota. I'm a great and great great grandkid of pioneer farmers in northeast Iowa, USA, beginning in the 1840s. I hope you will be notified of the existence of this comment. The spiral that broke in the meal-feeding machine is called an Archimedes Screw. Archimedes was one of humanity's first and greatest physicists, and he lived in Greece thousands of years ago. Once I was touring a waste-treatment facility in Tucson, Arizona where I lived at the time. We were shown an absolutely huge Archimedes Screw that was working full-on. It was lifting what arrived at the facility from the Tucson sewers, into the facility, to begin its treatment. An astounding sight to me! Just think, you have a critical piece of equipment that was invented thousands of years ago!
Enjoyed the video as usual Adrian, great explanations to all the work, some spell of weather, ground can't take much more water, hay ho, well done girls you will be in charge shortly, good luck to you all
Adrian you make and explain everything with such interest. You make it all sound so easy and I know it’s not cause having olive groves in Greece is also hard work not as bad as yours though.
It’s true what they say Adrian, every day is a school day and none of us know everything, like you I’d always listen to advice from others, that way we might learn something 😉
Hi, the extra pin is for lifting half the bale if you wanted to move that. It might also be an idea to Quarter the bale with 2 extra cuts as it makes grapeing so much easier
To be honest we like to knock all the bales flat if your feeding a few bales in one go. If you are gathering the plastics outside then cutting the plastic to the ground on both sides so the plastic stays where you have knocked the bale is better. This saves you time on plastic gathering in the shead and cutting. Dad bales 500 a year for beef so trust me we have feeding like an art form. Let me know what you think..
ALWAYS Love watching all your vlogs from Corona, California U.S A. Merry Christmas to you & your Beautiful Family with Peace, Good Health & Happiness throughout the Holiday Season 🙏❤️💙🤗✝️
Lime yoke is a super job. Although it makes it a lot easier if you use the strap with the wee ball at the end over your opposite shoulder to the limer. A good quality drill is definitely worth the investment with it too. 👍
Hi Aidrian, I feed all the cattle with minimiser and grapple, no forking ultra quick once you get the system going and mega handy for orher development work!
Adrain i cut both ands out of what ever amount of bails that i am feeding and cut them across the top as well .so thats once of the tractor for opening .and the plastic atays outside .this mite save you a bit .Thanks for video
Hi Adrian, pity to see the whole flight had to be replaced. Welding those is a very simple job once you dont overlap them too much. About an inch is loads because as in your case them two full turns overlapped acted like a solid lump in a flexible auger so that i believe is the cause of the break a little bit further on. Looking at where it wore through would seem that the original was stretched quite a bit also. Ideally they should be relatively floppy inside the tube. But its sorted now, so best of luck with the new one! Have no experience with a bale splitter like yours, when pushing in the silage can the blade actually touch the concrete? Definitely wouldn't help your edge! Perhaps make a silage pusher with timber 6×3 that slots onto the tines someway?
Usually when it breaks a second time it’s best to replace it, it’s around €2 a foot and i needed 40 ft which isn’t to bad considering the length of time it’s in. The bale splitter blade can’t hit the ground as there a 2” piece of steel welded on the tip to keep it up and the two pins protect it from the side. I only sharpen it once a year 👍
Good lad, you'll be buying cordless drills every 6-8 weeks with them vink lime buckets they don't like lime dust. The only tractor I've ever seen extremely hard started on a cold morning was a massey 4265 😂😂😂😂
Yes I thinking the same Jim, So i bought a cheap 18v drill just for it, taped all the vents closed as it only runs for a minute or 2 and shouldn’t overheat. 🤞 that will work. It would of been even better if the drill housing was separate for the lime compartment. Our 4270 was a nightmare to start at times in fairness
That’s called a hay knife, it holds a Stanley blade. Great thing, I got that one from Fast Parts online but I think there available in plenty of agri stores as well
Hi Adrian, from my understanding the pin is missing for one side to fall and the other to stay. Is there a protector bar missing off the bale splitter.
Yes we took it off a few years back, it was quite dangerous and had damage the cab on our last tractor by fallen back onto it. Not the best of designs. Keeping the blade closed is the only real protection that works. Never knew that about the pin James, always wondered was why it was missing
Would love to hear anything you have to tell us about your collie but specifically any grooming tips. We have one a farm dog, he won't go in a crate at all. Finds every burr on the place. Do you have 5 daughters now? I keep watching back vids but never see a birth announcement.
I have Bailey for nearly 3 years now, and before that we had Star who was identical and lived a healthy life for 15 years. I love the breed although they are very protective which can give people a fright, they have a fairly sharp moody temperament. They do need a good bush out to keep the coat from matting as they shed very often. Fish oil in her food helps for a shiny coat.
SiloWrap I think it was called. I just pick up what ever is in the local co.op Conor, it’s different brands nearly every time. I find very little difference in wrap as long as you put enough laps on. Them fusion 3 balers make a great tight bale, and the conditions were great this year.
Very good content thank you , you might know this as your a dewalt man , question would you happen to know if your dewalt batteries fit on a mawaki power tools , and vice versa , strange question I know , thanks Adrian
Enjoyed your video as always adrian. Not trying to be negative but was just wondering would you not be scared the sparks would damage the glass on the tractor. I ruined the window on a transit with sparks before 🙈
That’s a good point, that disc doesn’t fire to many heavy sparks but it could still happen. You kinda have to try aim the sparks away from the tractor if you can.
Had to take it off as it was dangerous, was nearly like a hammer slamming up and down, broke a lump out of the cab of our last tractor. Could never see what protection they offered as the blade would be still exposed. I’d always have it closed when not in use for sure 👍
Not really, i had not trouble that way. It comes with a shoulder strap for support but I didn’t use as it was just awkward and really not needed. It doesn’t hold much lime, probably get 6 - 8 fills out of a bag. I heard there are larger ones out there but one fill does about 50 cubicles here. Just a light dusting
Would you ever do a video on a rough overview of farm profits and Expenditure etc not being nosey lol just as good knowledge for young farmers as there isn’t any material where you can see how much is actually to be made or maybe it’s to personal thanks
Unfortunately if I do that the bales sometimes falls apart, the net along doesn’t always hold it together. I learnt that one the hard way 🤣. Good point though 👍

It’s a great machine, I bought that one for around €1300 brand new 10 years ago. You just couldn’t go wrong with that
Here is me like a gobshite using the steal disc for sharpening blades. That’s one tip ill be getting and that is a sand disc.
Awesome sunrise, best time of the day.
Brilliant video Adrian as per usual. Thank you very much for the mention. I appreciate it. Keep up the great work. See you soon. Alan.

Great vid they are a great machine
Adrian you had mentioned Jerry 6420,but he has sold that tractor 🚜. Now he has a new one. Shouldn't he change his name to Jerry 6-215?
I think that was the first tractor Gerry bought new himself so I could understand why he would keep that name.
Great video again! Wheres your bale wrap cutting thing from? The yellow thing
That’s called a hay knife, it holds a Stanley blade. Great thing, I got that one from Fast Parts online but I think there available in plenty of agri stores as well
Think it's called a "centreless auger"?
Mike
Hudson was just supervising as he needs to or nothing would be done right.
Adrian how is the matts working in the parler working out, great video
Love them Paul, great comfort and so fare there not slippery 👍
I think it’s when your pushing up the feed that’s when your blunting the blade,
Shouldn’t really lad as the blade can’t touch the ground, I only sharpen it once a year and it never has a damaged edge just natural dullness. 👍
What kind of drill do you have on the Lime spreader I got one and my drill does not fit it
Great videos as always Adrian when do you plan on opening the silage pit
Probably the next week Ryan 👍
@@IFarmWeFarm just another question Adrian where did you get that knife you use to cut the wrap from the bales?
29/9 rod??
Welding doesn't like any shear force though.
If you prefer the mchale bale splitter why not weld Eurasia brackets on or make a euro linkage adapter
I will do David, hopefully have it to fit on the front and back if possible
@@IFarmWeFarm the
Euro hook will fit inside linkage mounts with not problem

Hi
Not sure why you have the guard off. If you do plan to leave it off maybe get into the habit of putting the blade down when not in use

How are the mats in the parlour floor working out 🤔
Very happy with them, fierce comfort Richard
Adrian why do you paint the silage wrapping
Helps keep birds from pecking holes in them lad 👍
Is the lime spreader heavy when full of lime plus the drill?

Is that a Paul cooney bin adrian
No that one is off his brother but the one we got on the out farm is Paul’s
Why do you use that pole to cut open the bales we just ues the trusty stanley knife
It’s a great job Harvey, it’s holds a Stanley blade. Great reach and harder to loose

I don't know why u bring the plastic on the bales into the shed
Good question James, if I remove the entire plastic the bale sometimes falls apart even with the net on.
