Thank You John for working so hard to entertain. You have done something that all of us wish we could do. Leave our fellow humans with an infinite amount of material / music to enjoy until the end of our days. You are missed and will continue to be missed. Luckily for your fans, you will always be available by dropping a needle on to a turning piece of vinyl and you will once again be directly with us in the same room. RIP and "THANK YOU!"
We got to hear many talented musicians who came through the Blues Breakers at one time or another. RIP man, thanks for the fantastic music that lives on.
My dad had a John Mayall album when I was growing up called "Moving On". Smokin'! Then I found the Beano album and learned every lick off of it. RIP John Mayall.
He could really play the harmonica so well❤❤😊and song play keyboard and gitarr..He be so.missing😢😢buth his music and song lives on to all time❤❤R.I.P.😢😢😢
I saw John at my favorite local blues festival a few years ago. He was nice enough to sign my copy of The Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton album. Rocky Athas was his guitarist at the time, and sounded killer! I realized how many incredible guitar players, violinists, flutists, and saxophonists, bassist, and drummers have played with John over the years and gone on to greater heights. He was the ultimate finishing school for the blues, wasn't he? He always had a knack for getting the absolute best musicians. It's like a badge of honor or a certificate you can carry around! Haha.. People really do mention that all the time when talking about these guys that they played with Mayall. Plus Mayall is no slouch himself. Oh, no.. He played incredible harmonica and keyboards as well as guitar. He really was such a legend with his own signature style. By the way that is the legendary Coco Montoya playing with the Letterman band (Paul Shaffer on keyboards, Will Lee on bass, Sid McGinnis on guitar, and Anton Fig on drums). I have seen him as well as Walter Trout live and both are just monsters on guitar!
"Yah we're constantly in the middle of tours" -rolls eyes, lol. Journeyman blues in a nutshell. All that and Coco too! Maybe we have all that amazing music to go back to when we miss John, but knowing he's gone just makes me sad.
Coco Montoya! Fabulous! As a promoter, I got to present Coco several times. I had Mayal at a summer blues festival one time. I was fairly used to meeting famous musicians, by then, and was thrilled to be able to meet Mayal. When the time came, I was totally tongue tied! I said “Hi” and “great to meet you” and then went blank. John smiled and nodded, then continued walking across the backstage area - and that was it! My moment had passed! And I’ll laugh and regret it for all my remaining days! lol! Peace
I was 14 years old when my brother brought home The Turning Point in 1969. I mowed lawns all summer and bought Blues Breakers with EC, A Hard Road, Blues from Laurel Canyon, Bare Wires, and Crusade. Bought a Marine Band harp in C and eventually learned to play Room to Move. He introduced me to the music Sonny Boy, Little Walter, Otis Rush, and countless others. I stayed with him thru Lot's of People in 1977 and then I think his music got stale and contrived: the drinking was taking a toll. Saw him in Dallas in the early 90's with Buddy Whittington and you could tell he had cleaned up, the show was tight; I was back in the club. The harmonica has been a lifelong hobby, and I still listen to his early stuff. Not many albums will put a smile on my face like Jazz Blues Fusion from 1972. Thanks John, you played the soundtrack to my life.
Great post, Gusdad. And I'm right there along with you. Very sad he's gone but we certainly were lucky that we got to enjoy his contributions for a long time.
I saw him at red rocks in Las Vegas while I was stationed at nellis afb.. the security guard let me run to the car and grab my albums and a sharpie and at the end of the show he signed my ticket stub and both albums.. John Mayall, you will always be a true legend. We lost a truly incredible musician in just glad I got to see him live!!
Launched so many careers. Blues Breakers is still a monster group of early rock guitarist and roots of British Blues. Truly a treasure and we will not see his likes again.
Got to meet him about 10 years ago ,a club called the rose I'm pasadena california,he had a meet and greet before the show ,he signed my bluesbreaker album cover and a picture with him, great guy, great show he will be dearly missed, thanks John R.I.P
I now realize what it was about John. It was his voice. His was the most plaintive and expressive blues voice. That was the linchpin. For all the musicians he played with, and with his instruments and arrangements, he linked it with his voice.
I'm so blessed to have seen him in concert and have 2 autographs from him, from different points in his life. I thank my older brother, who is 68, for turning me on to John Mayall when I was 10 yrs old in 1973. RIP GODFATHER OF THE BRITISH BLUES.
Performed at my school a week after John passed. Played 'Key To The Highway', dedicated to him. No one knew who I was talking about. But he truly was the godfather of British Blues
I bought the album A Hard Road in 1967 which I still have. It features Peter Green who proved to be the match of Clapton. I was hooked from this moment.,
This man will be missed by so many. He was a legit Blues Man, He does it his way not trying to do it like someone else. That makes him super legit in my book.
Followed The Bluesbreakers for years. Have all the albums mostly in vinyl. The Beano Album of course. The Bues Alone was a great Album by John. RIP big loss
Jazz blues fushion was one of the first albums I brought when I was a kid. Guy that owned the record store gave me a copy of live from laurel canyon cus the b side was "scratched" It wasn't. And he laughed when I said it was fine
Inspired my harp playing and love for blues and jazz fusion. What a band master and mentor to so much talent. RIP John Mayall. Take all the room to move in unbound measures. One of my most visited artists of all time. thanx for the memories.
Thank you, Mr. Mayall for your wonderful talent that you gave the world! It was a very fine performance that night at Caravan of Dreams in Ft. Worth, Texas! I'll never forget it!!

You know he can’t hear you, right?😘🤭🥵
@@bodie1098I'd buy that!
I think the harmonica is the instrument that most demonstrates the inner feelings of the Artist !

Without Mayall, there's no Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, and John McVie for good measure.
Mick Fleetwood + Ansley Dunbar on drums. Countless others.
Don’t forget Jack Bruce, Hughie McGuiness and Mick Flint
Is that Coco Montoya on guitar ?
@chrismichaels6928 Yes. He was introduced.
…and Coco
