They call him the father of British blues and what an incredible career he has had. People often talk about his incredible range of band members over the years; Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Mick Taylor and so on.. yet many gloss over the man himself! Truly an incredibly talented and influential figure. Thankyou for your contribution to the music we all know and love!

Thank you for entertaining us throughout 60 years.
more like SEVENTY!
@@martinmoffitt4702 in a word,legend!
Very sad today to hear the news that the great John Mayall has died at 90. He was a big part of my teenage years, from the wonderful 'Beano' album and beyond. I used to go and see him playing in the Marquee club in London in the late 60s with Peter Green and later Mick Taylor on guitar. He was always such a great showman. Sad to see him go but he's a true legend who brought so much happiness to his fans over the years. Godspeed John.. there's a party happening somewhere up in heaven tonight! Thanks man! :))x
❤️🔥👍
I can only hope that the Big Guy upstairs gives John Mayall enough "Room To Move". Rest in Power.
FJB is the Big Guy downstairs
I was waiting for one of the morons to show up@RambleOn1969
"The big guy" upstairs?😮
“Put away your phones. Be present.” …needs to be said at every concert!
RIP John Mayall, safe to say you changed music.
Cant aggre more people in those days are more intresting in smartphone and livestream on facebook rather tha looking to the artist its insane
No c phns at any concerts full stop
Used to get searched for recording devices when entering gigs, back in the day! Now everyone has their phones in the air and not taking in the moment and truly enjoying the gig. What is it with having to film and record everything? RIP John Mayall, true music legend.

We have been truly blessed with such a long life and active career.
Rest in peace John, the Godfather of British Blues! Everyone who is anyone got their start either playing with him or digging him!

Thank you Mr Mayall for many years of music . I first came across you in 1968. Travel well in peace.
His music has been so important to my life… so blessed to have been able to see him
R.I.P. Mr. Mayall and thank you for the music. ❤
I followed John since 1963 so it was a very long journey for me, especially when I had to explain to others who he was and how influential he was.
We played numbers from the album John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers 1967 with Eric Clapton. All your love and others.
Born in 1933; so he’s what - 89 here?
Still much better than so many guys that “mail it in” decades earlier.
Legend.
Yep...and this is touching!
i hope that he becomes a 100
my first blues album was john mayall, 1969.
Mine too - I ended up buying many of his albums and a blues enthusiast having seen multiple performances of King, cotton, tan mahal and muddy waters once but unfortunately never got to see mayall -room to move started it all for me
@@edwardtedesco5388 yes, ditto here. i hack around with guitar a bit also and have been able to play some blues especially some slide with an open d tuning on "dust my broom'. it sounds good at least to me and it's fun.
Much Respect for Mr John Mayall. Thank You

I was there!! Never had seen him before, and so glad I went!! He was an amazing talent.. guitar, harmonica, vocals and keyboards and a mentor to many great musicians that we all love!! RIP John!! and Thank you!! 🎼🎁
I was there as well. Saw John for the first time in 1970 when I was only 15 years old.
- WELCOME HOME JOHN - YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ANY MORE!
His voice and musicianship were in fine form til the very end. A true profesional.
Was blessed to have MC'd the Mercer University sponsored concert with Crazy Horse opening for John Mayall's Jazz Blues Fusion Tour, on 11/12/71, at the Macon (Ga.) Auditorium. A night I'll never forget. May he RIP.
That's a lot of WIND for a man that age. Had it to the end
Le père du british blues... fan absolu de cet artiste qui a accueilli des guitaristes d'exception depuis 60 ans ! Merci au légendaire John Mayall .

Rest In Peace, the Master of Blues! 🙏
RIP, John 😢
R.I.P. 24-07-2024, sad day for musicworld
this guy mentored so many famous players.
God bless your soul, John Mayall. I only got to see him once live and that was in 1973 at Winterland, San Francsco . The Marshall Tucker Band opened for him, and this was well before Marshall Tucker's 1st album was out. It was a thrill seeing Mayall. He had Freddie Robinson playing guitar , who was great. I was hoping to see Larry Taylor on bass, but Mayall had Victor Gaskin instead. I'd been a Mayall fan since 1969 even before I entered my teen age years. My older sister brought home a Mayall album she'd picked up in England while she was there. I was hooked on blues ever since and bought many Mayall albums after that.
Cool!
What a great experience that had to be. As I age myself, I get more vicarious enthusiasm hearing about shows and legends I didn’t get to see. Thanks for sharing your tale. 🙏🏽✌🏽💙 from Minnesota
@@strummercash5601 Thanks.......it was one of those concerts that ranks in my top concert memory list. I remember standing in line at Winterland in the late September afternoon and people looking up at the marquee wondered who Marshal Tucker was. I think we had an image of some guy looking like Festus from Gunsmoke coming out on stage in full cowboy gear. Winterland already had a history of putting some pretty bogus warmup acts on before the headliner so nobody was expecting much.
Marshall Tucker with Toy Caldwell on guitar blew everybody away, the were so good. No body knew their songs because their album wasn't out yet and so there was nothing on the radio. After they played a song or two, you knew they were going to be stars. High energy, great dynamics and very tight.
Mayall, to be honest was a bit of a disappointment, even though I'd been a huge fan for a few years. He seemed to be intoxicated and the band wasn't that tight. I was hoping he had the same lineup from the Jazz Blues Fusion album, but the only hold overs were Freddy Robinson on guitar and Clifford Salomon on sax. I don't know who his drummer was ( not Ron Seleco, who I really liked ) and he had a decent bass player, Victor Gaskin, playing a Fender P bass, but he was no Larry Taylor. Anyway, Mayall looked kind of strange to me, almost too flashy looking , with some kind of glitter collar wrapped around his neck, more like something you'd see on Rod Stewart or Mick Jagger.
John wasn't in the greatest mood, pretty cranky and didn't get anywhere near the huge cheers and positive vibes that Marshall Tucker got. I felt bad for him because I already had a ton of respect and love for John. Freddy Robinson was great to see but his volume was too buried in the mix. Anyway, I was still thrilled that I got to see him and hoped to see him again with a better band, but ......I never did.
John ... love ya brother. So sad you're gone, but time waits for no one. Peace!
Thanks John Mayall. God blessed you
Saw Mayall in Perth in Western Australia in 1986. Think walter Trout was his guitarist. My partner saw Mayall carrying his equipment on stage and asked me, "Is he a roadie?" Not realising that Mayall did all own carrying.
I got the 66 LP "Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton." Only time Mayall put the name of his guitarist on the album cover.
He encouraged Clapton to sing on the LP, resulting in "Rambling all on my mind." His first vocal.
Mayalls talent is on display on "Blues Alone " LP. Playing all the instruments except drums, which I think is Keef Hartley.
To my mind Mayall is the most important musician. Playing and promoting the blues before the Stones and Yardbirds etc made it. Producing the greatest guitarists, by giving them complete freedom.
Using international musicians, promoting the music of the great black musicians, experimenting with bands, recording without a drummer etc. And constantly touring. I was lucky enough to correspond with him briefly some years ago, he took his fans seriously. A great innings.
Thank you! John significantly shaped electric blues rock music starting in the 60s through his showcasing of then unknown great lead guitarists, although one of his most popular recordings "The Turning Point" was largely acoustic and featured no lead guitar.
Rest in Peace John Mayall XO 🧡
If for nothing else, Mayall belongs in the pantheon for supporting Clapton in his battle with the studio engineers to let his guitar rip and take the fat, distortion of American blues to a whole new, transformative level.
Makes me a bit sad. But Carolyn gives me life. 😍She was great when I saw him back in 2019 too.
So long, John. It's been an extraordinary career.
RIP John Mayall. 💙🙏
Back in the day Mr. Mayall would be bare chested for this ! What a MAN. What a LIFE.
Yep saw him play a small venue in Boulder '80?
John Mayall - may his memory be a blessing
RIP John. Jamming in heaven no doubt 🙏🏼
I got to meet him at B.B.Kings Club, Manhattan. Gave me his autograph, very soft spoken.
Lucky you !! :)
Bin 66, wir lagen mann umd frau fiedlich auf der wiese oder im wald... Mister mayall, du hast uns inspiriert, danke.... Der himmel gehört dir❤❤❤❤❤
thanx John! * playin harp because of your influence! * carry on lad! * aloha a hui hou 🧚♂️ 🌊
in the midst of a lifetime of a legend. Hat's off Bravo Bravo! Great memories
Saw John twice in my life.Once in Italy,1974,and then at the marquee club in London in 1976.Great stuff, never forget, learned a lot of harmonica from John,God bless you and your sacrifice of music.
I had the Honor to see John Mayall, with this lineup in the fall of 2019- Sept or Oct., at the Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville, IL. i am an older dude, and have been going to concerts since the early '70s. Mr. Mayall's show was probably the Best I have ever seen! He was out in the lobby, selling and signing CDs before the show. I had wonderful seats, and watching he and his band was an experience I will never forget. And, since he has just celebrated his 90th Birthday, I wish you a Happy Birthday, and Thank You for all the music and Joy you have brought to the World. God Bless You, Mr. Mayall!
The grand father of British Blues
I was just in St.Louis and visited the Blues Museum. If he is in the museum, I missed him. If he is not, because he is from the UK, they should make an exception. He is really good!
I saw John a few times, and met him at the Country Club in Reseda. He was a friendly, gracious gentleman. Rest in peace to this legendary master.
RIP John Mayall
Thanks For Your Music
The one and only 🎉so great for so long
I saw him in '99. He rocked w real joy. Thanks John for sharing the good times Blues.
'cause I can't give the best
unless I got... room to move... thx JM👍
One of my biggest influences for my life of playing Harmonica, great to see he kept playing all the way to his passing,he was like my harmonica mentor.
John Mayall , o rei branco do blues ! Curto desde a década de 70.
December 4th 1982, the only time I've seen him live and still one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my whole life.
What a cool guy! At the age of 14 years "Blues from Laurel Canyon" was the first album I ever bought (we never got any pocket money in those days), which was my big treasure for years. And I will always love "Turning Point", a political statement at that time. Rest in peace, music man.
Turning Point took us on another journey through a completely different style of some of the best music ever. Room to Move was almost a foot-note to this amazing album.
one if the greatest ever has passed away😢
Great JOHN, my idol for 40 year. RIP.❤❤
RIP JOHN MAYALL.
R.I.P. , thanks for the music 🖤
In his 90s. Amazing.
RIP JOHN MAYALL ❤❤❤
Love me sone Mayhall. Rest in peace
What a legend. Room To Move was one of the most incredible songs ever written. I first heard The Turning Point back in the summer of 1970 in Brentwood, Missouri, hanging out with my buddy Dan Howard. Some things you just can never forget.
God bless john mayall❤
