AaronbTV better then the barracks here in Germany! You don’t get your own room you share it 1-2 dudes one shitter one shower ! Unless your an NCO you don’t get no space
In the late 80s, I was stationed at Fort Drum when it was being transitioned from Camp drum to Fort Drum. I stayed in the Old World War II Barracks that had I think 50 bunks in one big room. Thank you for showing what they look like now it makes an old man's heart feel good.
Thanks. So different from what we had when I was in 1988-1991. Rooms were just a room. Depending on the size, you could put two men into each, two wall lockers, two desks and two chairs, two chests of drawers, two standard beds and that was it. There was a battery shower/toilets/washing machines and sinks. Usually a dayroom, a TV room, and the CQ desk in the hall. Refrigerators, if we got one, were minis, and their was a microwave in the common area. But so very basic living compared to this! And our room appearance was structured and regulated.
Thanks for the video! I'm retired Infantry so I love watching slice of life videos like this, reminds me of the good old days!!! Some things change, other things stay exactly the same, food was always great tho!!!
That room reminds me of the wounded soldier barracks. I got to stay there when we first came back from Afghanistan. I wasn't wounded, but they had nowhere else to put me. But I eventually got a room in the single soldier barracks, and they were nothing like what you're showing. We had one open space with two bunks and two desks. A small sink and a fridge. That's it.
Dude. Got here on drum last January just got back from jrtc last month. I'm proud to say I watched your videos when I started my military journey and even when I learned I was coming to fort drum please keep making videos you helped me and I'm sure you'll help others who are looking for up to date information again thank you for taking the time to do this when you could be doing something else with your free time. God bless you😀😀
The barracks are better when I left. I was station there in 2008 and I dont miss it. I am from Mississippi and you imagine the culture shick and weather shock I experienced. You need to be in the outdoors to have fun in Fort Drum. I didnt stay too long in Fort Drum and I dont plan on coming back in the future.
I like your videos bro it's helping me out I'm gonna start my process of going in the army January please keep making these videos and giving the info that your giveing ✊🏾💯
This is tight, your own room, no roommate, The walk in closet is nice, they use to have lockers, and you would put them together for your privacy. One day they may give separate bathrooms.
Haha, cold and snowy you say. Me= laughs in “Fort Wainwright Alaska” where people are out doing PT in -20 degree weather. Average temp in winter is -30, depending. Fort Drum is a lot of fun. You just have to branch out and get off post for more things to do. Four day weekends take an Amtrak out of Syracuse into Penn Station in Manhattan and hang out in “the City” for a few days while staying at one of the several military hotels there in Manhattan. Go to Destiny USA, Sacketts Harbor for the mom and pop places to eat, A-Bay, the drive in movie theaters, get some ice cream at the “Way Cool”. Finger Lakes wine region, etc. There is soooo much to do if you’re proactive and look for it.
Haha it is extremely similar to my barracks in Wainwright. Common area and everything. I guess that's what I get for going from cold place to slightly less colder place.
Do you plan on buying a vehicle while out there bro? I asked this in your 1 month thoughts video, but what is your home state? Would you be able to take a vehicle you bought during active duty and take it home ? When you’re out ?
I plan on buying a vehicle here but not anytime soon, I’m gonna keep saving my money, im going to make a video about that when the time comes. When you’re out of AIT you can do whatever you want pertaining to your vehicle I recommend you bring with you to your first duty station, if you feel it can make that drive.

I lived there in 2001-2003 and it was nothing like that for us lol. 41st engineers. The snow looks the same though ha ha
When I was stationed at Ft. Drum, we lived in wooden barrack. It wasn't even a active division yet. That tells you how long ago it was.
