I was stationed there in 1971. Old WWll barracks, coal fired heaters and cold as hell. Only 70 permanent party back then. Went straight from there to Vietnam. So you can say I went from the freezer to the fire. Thanks for the video, and good luck
Those barracks have been renovated. I was a 13B in 3-6 Field Artillery,1st BCT. Stationed at Drum from 2006-2009. Those rooms were stuffed with two soldiers. U got one side n they got the other. There wasn't no kitchen. U had two huge wall lockers n the other side was ur mirror n bathroom style sink. We had mini fridges until we got back from a 15 month deployment to Kirkuk Iraq. Then we got those fridges n a microwave. The bathroom u shared with the room next door. Being one toilet n two stand up showers. But man those older barracks have changed. It sucked sharing a room. Especially when ur room mate drank every damn night til 3-4am. Smh. Was always a party somewhere in the barracks every night too. Things look different. Anyway...stay safe brother n Climb to glory!
I'm jealous you got your own room, a mailbox and a day room. I'm at fort hood and got to share a small ass room with my annoying roommate right next to me, no mailbox, no day room. This place sucks
Nice video, I’m headed to Drum in September so i been looking for what it’s going to be like, i don’t hear any good things about Drum from anyone lol but i guess it’s what u make of it
This shit is giving me flashbacks except when I was in, it was two men to a room, one bathroom, two showers that connected to another room with two men. So the setup when you walk in is the exact same but the room setup is a bit different. Didn’t get my own room until I went down to Fort Hood with 1st Cav. Got medically retired in 2012
I was station ft drum in 1992-1994,my room was the same. But their were 2 wall lockers your kitchen is . The bathroom was shared with your neighbor and we had not closet where the living area is.
Hey i got a question , in case they let me go to FORT DRUM , im going straight where u are showing all this or is different ? Becuase i really like the place that you just show us in the video
Thank you for this video. My boyfriend is a Sergeant there. I don't get to speak to him with FaceTime or calls, because he is in an area where videos and cell phones aren't allowed until he leaves base.
Back in my day, lopsided pool table made out of wood and missing balls and no sticks in the day room. 2 washers/dryers on each floor and people would take your stuff out when it was still wet and leave it there. Not allowed to cook in room, 3 guys to a room and no desk, no chairs or a/c. No vending machines and basically nothing provided to us except for a low paying job.
I was in 10414 on 5th Armored Division Drive from 2012-2015. That cell reception absolutely SUCKED! Apart from hating the really cold and long winters, I do miss it. Also, the smoke detectors kept going off more often my last year there. How do you like that cold winter weather?
@@AaronbTV nah bro, I'm also from Illinois (suburb Chicago) and I was raised in New York (Queens) and neither of those locations are matched by Fort Drum. I started my career at Drum lol -- spent 5 long years there @ bldg 10524 (medic). I'm since retired now and only stumbled upon this video reminiscing about that place. The barracks, they look exactly like they did in 91. I mean they all look the same so I don't know what I'd be expecting but aside from tech advancements (like keyless entry), they look the same.
7:20 "probably gonna get another hook for my nike bag over there" 😂 wrong brand bro that's adidas not nike😂😂😂 and then u mess up the bathroom and kitchen 🤦🏽♂️😂
Love this video. Wish they gave you better barracks though. Like a better bathroom, a mini living room. How do people from like Texas, New Mexico from hot weather states react to Fort Drum very cold frigid winters?
Maaan looking at these barracks piss me off, both my barracks I had, we had 2 people, one barracks in Humphreys had no divider just our furniture as a divider, second was Irwin which had a big divider in the middle but each had only a bathroom sink, fridge and microwave small bathroom and the furniture, that was it lol..
Hey I'm 24 and going to Fort Sill for basic training on February first. I am a 13j so my AIT is also at fort sill. Do you know how the AIT is over there, or if doing AIT at the same base that you do basic training at is an advantage or disadvantage.
I bet you were a miserable little barracks rat when you were there. It's been some time but even when I was there, apart from the damn mall, there wasn't anything to do there. Come to think of it, I miss it too :(
Well considering you are a dental spec, You are living a hel of a lot better than I did when I was with the 2/14 Inf. Can you give me an explanation on what a single soldiers room means. If you want to see what struggling is, go check out an 11B's room and then come talk to us.
So Am I living lavish or struggling?
lavish fasho you don't even have to share
Lavish
Look like a struggling college student. Lol. Pretty much dorm life. Thanks for the video. Leaving for basic in 13 days.
A bit lavish.
Struggling my guy. You are in the barracks with out a stove lmao
lotion discreetly next to bed for obvious reasons and bible there for when the job is done

The lotion next to the bible kinda sus😂😂😂
You caught that too?😂😂😂😂
I was thinking the same thing!

Ft. Drum was my first duty station back in 87, we stayed on the old post before while the new post was being built.

@@averygaston9937 there’s 50 different barrack buildings. With like 20 different types of rooms. It just depends where you end up.
The barracks haven't changed. My last time at Drum was Sep 03. We had a common bathroom between two rooms and we only had the dorm size refrigerators
See thats what I remember, I'm 92-95 and we deffinitly did not have our own sleeping space...2 to a room, Damn you guys got it made
Nahhh lotion with the Bible next to the bed is crazy 😂😂💀😂💀
Hard to believe I lived there before you were born and ZERO has changed.

and to think, when I lived in the barracks - it was a 40 man open bay - one shower with 6 showerheads, commodes with no partitions! -- 50+ years ago!
"gonna buy another hook for my nike bag" pans over and its adidas XD love your videos man

This big muscle man told me to watch this video on your story and give it a like, so I did.
Smart man!
I have nightmares about the time I spent in these barracks. Real shit bro.
what happened bro
Currently in fort drum and my barracks actually does have a stove top
Reminds me of my college dorm - pretty much the exact same layout, except we had a stove 🤣
It’s doesn’t seem like much to a lot of people but personally to me this is a perfect room except no kitchen sink lol
My son graduated from fort drum and did 4 tours overseas good luck
I need a hoodie or shirt that has “freakin” or “umm” on it
