Great and much needed video/advice. Sad but true, too many people experience this at some point in todays work places. I'm one of 2 people thrust into a Team Leader position due to the person who held that position retired. Neither myself or other person wanted the responsibilities of the position. Nor had either of us had proper training which has resulted in degrading humiliation threatening loss of job because some aspects of the job were unknown due to no training. I actually felt like I wanted to quit my job this past Friday 11/22 because of the bullying. I'm dreading going back into work this coming Monday.

I am sorry to hear what you are going through. It is unfair for an employer to 'force' someone into a leadership/supervisory position when they don't want it....and even moreso when they don't provide you adequate training to be successful in the new role.
They aren't caring about what YOU want.
Sounds like it might be time to get your resume polished up and start looking for a new employer. There are many great employers out there struggling to find skilled people. Life is too short not to be in a job you aren't happy in! You deserve better so now might be a good time to see what else is out there. 🧡

@@VirtualJobSearchCoach I've been sitting on the fence now for nearly 2/3 years about changing jobs again. I use to have an awesome job of 20 + years until it closed. Since it's closure I bounced around worked and moved on from 3 different jobs. It is more difficult for me as I am 56 years old, most jobs today are for the younger generation. Regardless of what people may think,if a person is not in the "click" a target is on your back. Extremely thick skin is needed which is a shame for certain. Thanks.

I'm so glad you found it helpful Brando! It's sad how often harassment occurs in workplaces. It needs to stop and I'm so thankful Canada among other countries are taking action against it to protect workers. 🌞

Thanks for your comment Lolabeng. I am so sorry to hear what you and your coworkers are going through at work. If you are in Canada remember as I talked about in my video, under legislation your employer is obligated to take action when a harassment claim is made and provide a safe work environment for all of their employees!
I completely understand the challenges employers are facing with staff shortages and difficulty hiring right now but that is not an excuse to allow bullying behaviour in the workplace. Ensure you and your coworkers have documented everything clearly (dates, times etc) and I would suggest you and your coworkers again approach management with the complaint and ask what they will do about it - you want to remain calm and professional through this (don't make any threats). If your employer does not take action or punishes you or your coworkers with any form of discipline or termination then you need to seek legal advice because legally your employer can't fire you for reporting bullying and harassment.
Alternatively I would suggest reaching out to your provincial Employers Worksafe agency (ie. in BC it is WorkSafeBC, in Alberta it is WCB Alberta, every province will have one) for advice and information on bullying in your workplace and steps you can take. Also the Canadian Safety Council has some great information and advice on workplace bullying and harassment canadasafetycouncil.org/working-bully/ and an anonymous employee complaint reporting system.
I wish you and your coworkers all the best - I know this is a difficult situation. If you love your job then it is worth fighting for. If you don't, then maybe it is time to consider finding another one. If your employer continues to lose good employees because of one bad one, they will eventually realize the mistake they have made.
      Kind regards❣🌞 ~ Stacey

    Hello there guys,
I am considering moving to Canada, because over here in the UK I keep on losing jobs because people come and bully me.
I lost jobs because of: someone following me around and stopping me from talking through the company, managers lying about me to upper-level management, reporting feeling very distressed as a result of being shouted at, and now my current manager created a list of some minor transgressions and some false offences that he is passing on to HR, for the purpose of getting me fired.
My career has been all technical support jobs.
Here, if you speak the truth about employers like this, then new employers decline you straight away, expecting you to lie, to leave the industry maybe? I don't know.
    Is Canada any better?

I am so hurt and sad to tell you that I am being falsely accused everyday from a coworker. Although I love my job and don't want to change my career as PSW my supervisor received 40 emails of alledge complaints from a coworker and the supervisor in question had a great conversation with me about the problem but the coworker is still imployed with them as this coworker is under investigation but she still working with elderly vulnerable people. For example she would bring a bottle of strong alcohol to a client as a gift .. Jack Daniel it was a dark alcohol and has done countless things that ate not allowed in our career but for some odd reasons she keeps on bullying me and constantly lies to the supervisor os things I never done. I need help because I love my career and adore all my clients. Please give me some tools .. xo

Thanks for sharing your situation Maria Sunshine! I'm sorry to hear what you are going through - you are in a difficult situation. Is your supervisor being supportive of you? are they recognizing that this coworker's behaviour is inappropriate?
If you are in Canada, you'll learn in my video that you have rights under new legislation and if your employer is not taking appropriate action then I would suggest talking with an experienced employment lawyer (I provide the contact info for one in my video).
If you are in the US then you'll have to do a bit of research yourself on human rights, employment laws for your state. Unfortunately many US States have laws favouring the employer rather than employee, in fact many states still have 'at will' employment laws meaning the employer can fire an employee for any reason without warning and usually without any form of severance payout. Because of this, if you are in a US state with an 'at will' employment law then I would encourage you to protect yourself, which may mean looking for employment elsewhere. It doesn't mean you have to change careers but you would need to change employers. It is much easier to get re-employed when you are currently employed and you wouldn't have to worry about a negative reference check from you current employer, whereas if they terminate you first then you now have to explain to a new employer why you were fired and may not be able to give a reference, which makes it harder on you.
I know how much employers are struggling to find good employees and PSW's are an in-demand job right now, so your employer is probably struggling with what to do if they fire someone and become short-staffed because they know the struggle to recruit new people. If your employer is supportive of you and is not believing these constant false accusations and complaints from your coworker then try to hang in there, they will likely fire the troublemaker once they know they can replace them.
I hope things turn around for you soon at work❣🌞
