For Bona Power Drive you can get now weights ( like the trio) and steel hard plates . Both Trio and Bona use same power motor. And I see guys running the Trio without the self-containing dust collection unit, they attach vacuum hose and run it with the vacuum. I think cost of the bags account for that. Also what is not mentioned here is that Trio runs with the support of the behind wheels So has much bigger turn around radius than Bona. It might be important in small spaces like kitchens or closets.
and can get under some or most shelfs...
If you run the trio with the wheels off the ground it’s more aggressive.
I have 30 years of experience in the floor busines. The first years use a Cobra belt sander, then Lägler trio, but a modifided version, use 4 of these extra weigths 27kg,took away integrated dust can and use a separate dust separator and hose.
so many dumb know it all comments on here. you don't think these guys know to use a big machine like the hummel first and the trio is the finishing machine to fix the big machine waves and chatter?? they're just showcasing the power and capabilities of these machines on bad floor...
Thanks your videos are very informative and help us make the proper decisions
Thanks for this video. It made me to get one of the bona flexisand. Thanks again for great comparison.
Thank you from Vancouver Canada! VERY useful video for big decisions!
Glad we could help!
From the looks of things Bona is doing big things,I wouldn't be surprised that they become FrontRunner of the industry.
Loba is buying lagler !
Hi. Great video! I learned a lot watching this. Do you have the Roll Woody? I would be very interested in seeing how it compares with the best three machines you have in this video.
Hi guys, any chance of a video on how to dial in new carbon brushes with a commutator stone for Clarke Edgers please.
Cheers
Andrew
Would you be able to tell me why would that serpentine belt on Hummel Trio sander tighten up during operation making the motor hault and hum? The machine would stop working?
PLus for the Bona Power Drive, you don't use it like a buffer for aggressive sanding... the handle is meant to almost be completely upright but just a slight angle. Add the weights and use it correctly and it would do even better than here.
whats the part number or name on thise metal plates?
Which is the best in your opinion and which one would you buy?
How much set of floor sanding or per unit?
Where did u get that long hose???
You guys should do a video, of difference machines at work, like edger to big machine, from Clark, to glaxy, to pallman to lagler, just like this one but the difference on how to sand witch each and what machine would be the best, also forgetting Bona machines, don't judge me i know my machines lol, there might be more out there I don't know about but top 3 would be lagler, galaxy and Clark
You should compare one of those machines to the big machine. In my mind the big machine is gonna take that down better than those. However, I have never really used one.
Hellow …. From Spain !
Spider or Epoch HD?
Cobra or Hummel?
Power drive it is !
That absco is good finish by theway
Laegler recommends initial 40 Hummel, 60 Hummel, 60 trio, 100 Hummel, 100 trio. If you’re planning on staining the floor what do you do about the circular scratch pattern from the trio final sand?
2010GT500 You get a Clark obs square (12in x18in) buffer orbital sander, in my opinion the BEST final sander that a wood floor should have, but again...just my opinion
Water popping takes them out
Multi disk on a buffer for your final pass
120 screen with the edger. 120 screen with a 16” buffer. Take your time. I’ve only ever had one problem in 5 years working alone. don’t cut corners
I read it? Do you do big machine (belt sander), then do trio, then go back to belt machine again? Go back and forth twice. It doesn't make any sense
Manda uma de presente , que show.
I’d love to see the spyder in the mix
We might just have to redo this video with the Spider thrown in!
Hummel life baby!!
Can you do a demo with bona craft 2k oil on Brazilian cherry?
your vidia they said yes but in fact no because with our belt sanding you can’t sand deeply as you can see this video they use new sand paper for only small panel imaging if you run this mashin for 1000 sqft it’s take you 10 hours to sand it done plus lots of paper I think it could be 3 or 4 box paper if you do sanding with this mashin plus 1 day full time spend
@ your vidua, just a few weeks ago' I sanded a Brazilian floor and stained it with charcoal Kraft oil, and it turned out amazing, . ( I also buffed it on with a carpet pad)...
Estou a 29 anos trabalhando com lixamento de assoalhos.
I love being done with the galaxy after roughing off but the real pay off is the time it saves you edging, dealing with offsets and r.o. sanding...Bona 1.9 power drive all the way 👍
Could you rough off a flat floor with the power drive? What about raw wood? Considering getting one even if not. Just curious.
It's aggressive enough like you see in the video but it would be slow. I've never used it to rough off raw wood but wouldn't recommend it. You will still need a belt sander unfortunately unless it a really small job like a hallway or a entry .
Would the Epoch or PowerDrive be able to flatten dish out on oak floors?
Epoch not really. But power drive will for sure
Yes with steal plates
How good is the epoch hd ? Ik this is a video of someone using it but didn’t really tell you how durable the machine is and how many times does the floor need to be gone over to get it cleaned enough to stain… tbh look like something you still need big machine and then use this for fine sanding but is that really worth it?? Thanks in advance
I still think you need a belt sander first as nothing can dig as fast as it
We got the bona power drive Ike a month ago it pretty good it will take color off and get it flat it is slower than using a big machine but it does get the job done haven’t used it on a really messed up floor but I used it on pine and it didn’t gum the paper up once and that’s saying something if you sand floors
Them all are good machines but... nothing beats a drum sander..
Alpha1 hell yeah, old clark 220 drum sander or bona super 8 belt sander
I have being working lagler trio for few yeras now. I love it, I need another machine like trio, I have doubts about the American sander 3ds, bonna power drive. Or trio.. My problem whit the trio is to find helpers, who knows how to do trio..
The powerdrove you use with pads.....and no heavyweight on it
Powerdrive you can use for finish between coats its extra.
No extra machine for sanding equipment
Powerdrive ....I have 2.....😀😃👍
Minha lixadeira tem 60 anos.😁
The weight kit for the Bona DCS Power Drive turned my unit from Meh! to somthing I use a lot. IMO it needs the wight kit to be realy effective.
Wont replace your belt sander but is a different tool for a different job.
Best dust containment vac would be a question I'd like answered.
The best dust containment system is the Eliminator 3000 . It has 340 cfms . You can run a big machine and a edger at the same time . Cost is $5000 but it is worth it there is no dust .
They all have their place I think. I’m more interested in the cyclone attachment for the Festool vac ! ......bryan31yrs
Pushing that trio pretty hard 🤣
You said you were going to put all the weights on ea sander.not a true test
i use bona multi disc after final paper is done with big machine.. but to do the ruff there is no way its as good a big machine..
Sylvain Lepine my schedule on most floors is :
big machine rough
Multi disc perimeter rough
Edger rough
medium grit same sequence
Fine grit :
Edger
Multi
Big machine
Scrape corners/ hand sand
Orbit perimeter 1 grit back from final grit
@@edwh164 muti disc before the big machine? whats the point?
The reason I do the multidesk in the order stated is it cuts 80% or 90% of the edging out of the equation. After you make that pass there’s only 2 inches of edger work
This mashin wont sand deeply it’s just good for final sanding to get good results and flatten floor otherwise it’s take full day to do only 1 rough sanding comparing to big mashin you can finish 3 cut sanding with big mashin
Hi Guys, Im torn between purchasing the trio of the flexi, in your opinion which would you choose for a scratch free job?
PROfloor-restore higher grit sand paper or screen
I have a trio it is never used like that. its always lifted off its wheels 3 times more aggressive this way. .so be fairly even with powerdrive
hey mate used this on decks? any good ?
@@Deckrejuvenationcom no the deck would need to be dead flat and that is Never the case. prob need a belt sander
Wat do u mean off the wheels please let me kno. Email me. Jasonurbaninc@gmail.com
@@jasonurban3597 Take the wheels avay.
David Haugh trio is not supposed to be aggressive that’s not what it’s for it’s a fine polisher
I’m wander if big area you are not able to sand it done unless you should run belt sander for first rough cut especially I am seeing you use new sand paper and you keep moving very very slow why don’t you peoples let know these mashin should be use it only for finishing sand and fine sand instead of advertising to sanding from start to finish
Thanks
Alex - Thanks for your question. This was really just a comparison video. For a cupped hickory floor such as this was, using a floor sander to get it flat would be a first option. Again, this was just demonstration to show the differences between all the units.
power sand is nice . but that tri vacuum is sickkk fuck
Bona power drive is always way better!
220v is not very convenient since American homes do not have 220v.ASre you In canada?
Flex sand, 3rd machine demoed runs on 30 amp with big machine cord.
We sold the trio as just to bulky & heavy when working on your own. We now have the bona 1.5 & 1.9 and very happy with them especially the 1.9 flexisand. There is also the Pallmann spider that is meant to be more aggressive I just think it's over priced!!
Yer 12k is a joke
You called this a showdown however with the bona power drive vs the lagler thing you didn’t do a fair comparison.
You should have taken off the intermediate pads added weights and used it at more of an upright position and that would have done a much better job.
It was like you were trying not to show the bona blow them all out the water
Power drive out performs all these ,with NO weight 😂 ...it's a true planetary unit. Trio=POS ,those days are gone !
Sorry we’ve tried them all in the real world and nothing works better than your big belt machine. Many of these new machines are simply a novelty.32 years laying, finishing, fixing and resurfacing.Get busy with your Hummel and Super7.
I've worked with floors for 19 years, I worked several years doing work without a trio, you can do a good jobs without a trio, but nothing like a job whit trio, I start using a trio and everthing change, , you can be the best sander in the world and you won't do anything close to the quality of a job done with trio.
@@marimthe1083 should i buy trio or bona powerdrive?
@@andersbreivik3399 If you can afford it, Powerdrive! As others have said and you can see in this trial: it outperforms the trio already without added weights, and with intermediary pads added to the plates. If you really did a fair testing under equal conditions, meaning with comparable weights added to the Bona AND either both machines used with intermediary pads OR both with paper directly on the hard plates, the Powerdrive would always give a superior result in terms of flatness, and cleanliness, - in one pass (overlapping 50%) - AND that MUCH closer to the edges (- leaving less than 1/2" to edge, if you get the right hang of it; - that perfectly blends out with a handheld orbital &/or delta on a good rotary tool like the Rockwell. -)
You DO want to get the weight kit for the Powerdrive, as well as the steel plates, and the (Flexisand) Multidisk head! - With that equipment, you can go, where needed, with ONE machine from first cut all the way to truly swirl free fine sand/burnish for waterborne pigmented sealer as well as intercoat screening/buffing!!
@@bjoyia3799 thank you 💪
@@marimthe1083Will be same quality sanding first big drum big machine, then finishing with Bona Power Drive to have 100% wood floor flat. I am not sure what to buy Trio or Bona Power Drive?
I think pallmann spider beats all this sanders
I know this comment is 4yrs old but can you elaborate?
@@rowankeltizar5961simple…I had them all…trio is really inefficient, flexisand and hidro are not enough aggressive, bona powerdrive is really great but spider is superior
@@yourvidia5815 what makes the Spyder better than the power drive?
@@rowankeltizar5961 it’s an advanced machine…variable computerized speed, heavier and more aggressive…the only desadvantage is that is not really for US electricity and gets hot sometimes and stops
Hell no just run big machine way faster.
Josay- did-it i agree
True these people have too much time in their hands time is money
meh! ill keep it old school hummel 8 inch then buff after .
Exactly 👍👍
Not a fair test
The trio is the biggest waste of money! I hated the one I had and I had to run it for years
Trio won
The price of the trio is outrages. I stick with the hummel sander , quicker and does better job. Take it from a pro.
If you are a pro hardwood flooring contractor, none of them work well for you. It will take you much longer time to do work and costly sanding papers. No matter what, go with a floor sander for rough and intermediate cuts. Time is money....
Danny T hell yeah
Pro hardwood flooring contractors use this for finish work routinely.
Who is this guy and has he ever run one of these before? Obviously a salesman never a user. A LOUSEY demo!
Michael Clairforet not a l
user, but a loser !
🤦 man just show how it works don’t worry about how carring it to the van, we’re not here for this work work work, 1000SF with you take an year
Throw the trio in the trash. Too heavy and to slow and also solo worker can’t carry themselves
Trio is worthless tried one years ago
Only if you follow the directions, and sorry not sharing solution.
too much talking
Trio is trash by the way and over priced trust me !
