Who... besides people who haven't ever seen him... DOESN'T think Greg should have his own show? The only problem would be keeping the typical "reality TV" scripted drama out of it. Just let him be himself: playing, joking, looking for guitars and amps and it would be FANTASTIC!! Damn, now I'm thinking of how awesome a Greg and Les Paul episode would have been if only it had happened when Les was still with us!

Well I have got to say that this purchase was worth it. I did figure out a way to use it with my pc as a controller while using it with my ipad for fx control. The expression pedal does send MIDI CC out as well as the two extra expression connections. So using a USB to MIDI I/O cable from my pc to the Stomp I/O, I connected two extra amp clicker boxes to the extra expression connections. These transmit CC messages out of the MIDI out on the Stomp I/O to my pc as well as the Stomp I/O's expression pedal. BOOM! Got control to my PC Amplitube as well as my ipad version.
A few caveats. #1 The four main stomp buttons do not transmit MIDI CC's while in ipad mode. They only control the ipad Amplitube. #2 The Stomp I/O expression controls both the ipad Amplitube as well as the pc Amplitube. Just FYI, the MIDI in on the Stomp I/O will let you send MIDI messages in to your ipad for control from your pc/mac. It is amazing.
Once again IK Multimedia have made a great, fun, easy to use product. Thank you IK!!
Only one request. An ASIO Driver for Windows. ASIO 4 ALL works good but a dedicated driver would be better.
IK emulations are one of the best out of them all. I use them often when i'm away from my reliable amp+mic.
Yeah as a beginner it’s made getting good tones so much easier, I won’t say it’s right on the money but it damn good.

The show should be called Guitar Monster! An unscripted reality tv- with Greg’s comedic timing and way ‘beyond mere mortal’ chops. He just needs a side kick or two - perhaps a rhythm section 😄 I’d watch it! Oh yeah this and his others videos deserve two thumbs!
IK's Emulation is reaaalllllly good, love this new concept - nice to get it out of Logic or your DAW and into reality and of course - gregs playing is face-meltingly good!!

I'm about to give in to digital.
I did about 3 years ago not really understanding the entire Amplitube 4.. it's taken me a couple years of really messing with it (which is part of the fun), but now looking to getting this and some monitors for those days I don't want to use headphones and be able to change between settings without stopping..:) but the tones are incredible.
me too! ran my iRig pro into an old 60s Gibson amp for FX from the iPad. sounded fantastic! i just put up the iRig for sale to buy this one for gigging. no worrying about a pedal board for a while.

A dream amp room... ! IK does a lot of great stuff. SampleTank has the best drum sounds there are. Only thing is I can't quantize the drum track by playing them from GarageBand through Audiobus :( It processes the track in audio only and not MIDI. If this was part of an upgrade in a future version, SampleTank would be the most awesome drum machine on iPad without a doubt !

Is this rig going straight through a PA or mains?
Just want to make sure there's no amp/cab it's routed through and simply using iRig/AmpliTube amp sims and effects to some speakers.

So this stomp i/o is the only footswitch compatible with my Irig hd2 - iPhone setup? I thought I found a footswitch that gave a little wah simulator and activation/switch before this came out. Anyone familiar with that?
The iRig BlueBoard is another great foot switch. iRig HD 2 is an audio interface however, so I'm not sure what you mean by the only foot switch compatible. I can confirm AmpliTube will accept MIDI from any CoreMIDI device, like the iRig BlueBoard or iRig Stomp I/O :) www.ikmultimedia.com/irigblueboard/

What are all these sounds being played out of? Greg says... "This is my amp"??... But What are we hearing all of these different amp types through? A mic'd FRFR? A direct source into a DAW? Into an "amplifier" with a clean setting?...
iRig Stomp I/O is also an audio interface which is running out directly to the board which is what you are hearing. This is pure AmpliTube through iRig Stomp I/O.
So I was thinking of buying a power PA speaker, with 400 Watt capacity. Would that work well with this type of set up
Yes, a full range powered speaker will sound great with amp sim software that includes speaker cabinet simulation.

What would be a good headphone impedance to use with the iRig Stomp I/O - 32 or 80ohms? The specs say Headphone Output Power: 100mW into 50Ohms but I don't understand if that is going to be enough at 80 or too much at 32 or whatever xD

Correct, the built-in high-quality audio interface provides very low latency performance. Plug your guitar in, and go - preserving the tone of your instrument with very low latency. www.irigstompio.com
You will experience whatever latency is inherent in the device it's connected to, plus a little bit for IK unit. The real issue is the computer / tablet / phone / pod you are using and how low-latency that can go.
just sold my iRig Pro for this baby, solely because i tried effects emulation on my iPad into my amp, and it sounded fantastic! the software was Tonestack, the iPad is a Mini 2. i experienced an indiscernible amount of latency. it convinced me that i needed the tactile control that this thing has, and i no longer had to worry about a pedal setup.

Is he running everything direct to a pc or is it running through a cab? Can it run through a cab?
He's using an iPad connected to iRig Stomp I/O www.irigstompio.com You can run the balanced outputs to a PA/mixer but not directly to a guitar cab. A guitar cab would actually color the sound further so a PA/mixer/power speaker with full range speaker(s) would give you the best tone.
ikmultimedia Could it be ran through an effect loop on an amp head through a cab. Run the head clean? Just trying to see how I could use this in a live setting with a bad PA.

The real question for me is can I just use the pedals with my own personal amp instead of using the amps on the app?
iRIg Stomp I/O can be used as a standalone MIDI controller, so it can control MIDI-capable hardware too but it will not replace your amp's channel switching or similar controls (unless they are MIDI of course) www.irigstompio.com

Those are palm harmonics or palm mute harmonics. The technique was used by numerous guitarists, but people tend to associate it with Eddie Van Halen frequently.

Dumb question; so if I get one of these and bring it over to a friends house to jam, what do I plug it into for sound? still need power amp and a speaker right?... like I said, may be a dumb question
You can plug iRig Stomp I/O's outputs into a powered speaker, amp, PA/mixer, and similar.
I like Greg. Great personality and great guy all the way around. However when he does demos he plays "too much and too fast". Just way too much to take in. I'd like to see him slow down a bit. His stuff is just too technical for a normal person trying to enjoy the demo.
