- Last time we reported that the 2026 Toyota Supra might be going full electric. There's new information that's frankly a full 180 from that last story. Now we hear that the 6th generation Supra will have a revised version of the B58 or perhaps S58 BMW engine.

What BMW are they using for the platform ?
G29. Just the Z4 and the Supra use this platform.

Hopefully it isn’t as aggressive as the render, and goes the softer/calmer direction in design like the FL5 Type R. It should take design cues from the GR86, 2000GT, LC and MK4 Supra. Center exit exhaust is cool, kind of pays homage to the 2000GT.
It's not a bad render from the front. The rear idk.

I think that's very unlikely. We're looking at renders. I think the artist had some Z on the brain.
Probably going to be a B58 Active Hybrid powertrain.
A version of that powertrain is definitely a possibility
Or Mazda's Skyactiv-G Inline 6 Turbo. It's basically fresh out of the works.
My Japanese told me not tomlisten with that magazine info,most render was not true in fruition most of tme😂 it could be hybrid ipbut if enthusiast asking for a continues ICE then they will comply. They won’t built cars if no demand.
Dont like they should stay more into the FT-1 body design. Keep it consistent like Ferrari 812 and Porshe 911. Feel there going backward like RX 7 which turned into RX 8, ruined the body design.
I agree. The RX8 was a wrong turn. Porsche actually has the right idea and there's a lot of the past in the Mk5.

Rumour said that Mazda's brand new inline 6 on CX 90 were co developed with Toyota, if it's true then Toyota should use it for 6th gen Supra instead of using another BMW engine....
That could be interesting. On the other hand, the B58 is a reliable monster that is capable of massive power and torque. The Mazda six is entirely unproven.
I think the render is ugly, they fixed the front but it seems like someone combined a Corolla with a Camry, thats a big no for me. There wont be a A100 Supra till the A90 turns 10 years old that's my prediction. (Mazda has a inline 6 Toyota can use).
You can definitely tell this was photoshopped as the body is clearly a Nissan Z shell and someone just photoshopped the front fascia of the current Supra with the FT-1 Concept front fascia and the rear is just a tightened up version of the currebt Supra's taillight making it look like it is a mid-cycle refresh, but it's not a mid-cycle refresh just yet. I think the next model year is the official mid-cycle refresh.
Side note: I'm surprised the aftermarket companies have yet to make modern-day taillights from the MK4 Supra that would fit on the MK5.
Actually, there is one company that has mark 4 supra aftermarket tail lights for the Mark five

Not many cars have a 4 year model run. 6-9 is typical in this century.
If they don't keep it under 40 grants, forget it. Same failure like the late supra, and the Nissan Z.

@@bman1668 are the Nissan Z and the Toyota Supra regular cars? I guess no. They are not in the same cathegory of some american and european sports cars, but they cost the same or more. I check under my rock and the sales in these two models are ver, very low.
@@LuisFSilva-gm9ms Supra sales are good what you talking about and manual Supra sells more than automatic I haven’t even seen z in wild yet which is nuts because dealer markups 70-80k for damn z
The BMW partnership is ridiculous, as well as the Subaru partnership. Toyota might as well just team up with GM to cut the costs of the motor for the new corolla. They can use the 3 cylinder geo metro motor. After all, they are worried about money when they already built a reliable fan base.
Explain cause I don't see any lexus being used nearly as much as the 86 is in track or drift fields nearly as much at all to where they're like a Easter egg to even be seen. Even in the case of the mk5, how many lexuses do u see being used in drag compared to those or even in the case of making alot of power? If people won't even try with the rwd platforms they've got or even buy them when they've been around for the past decade then theirs no point in wasting millions on them cause it wouldn't be worth doing for such a niche market that'll more than likely not buy it.

Looks like an even more neutered version of the original 5th gen concept. EV makes it worse. But that said, these guys have been talking about a Celica return for a while and haven't heard a peep so I dint buy it
I keep hearing Celica rumors as well, but really nothing concrete. Same as the MR2 rumors
