Did you know One of the writers for Jingle all the way tried to get his kid that Buzz Lightyear? It was sold out everywhere and the writer finally got it. I feel like Turbo Man is Jingle all the Ways version of Buzz Lightyear.

My dad has both of the original toys, and has had them for 26 years. But something strange in particular about buzz is his battery power. My dad has not once changed the batteries. And he still works, too. 26 years.
Could you imagine Billy Crystal and John Goodman in these roles? At 1 point they were considered to be the voices, but instead Pixar went with Tom and Tim and later had Billy and John be the leads in Monsters Inc.
There first choice for Buzz Lightyear was actually Jim Carrey, but he asked for too much money. I would actually love to see that alternate reality, but on the other hand I feel like it would’ve been like Ace Ventura as a Space Ranger.
I cried at the end of toy story 3. The movie came out the beginning of my freshman year in college. So I was the same age as Andy in a sense as he left for college.

I was three years old when the first Toy Story film was released. And I was already been exposed to a few real-life toys that had buttons, fancy lights, and sounds just like Buzz. But once they started selling real-life pullstring Woody dolls, for some reason, I was blown away. To this day, he’s still one of my favorites!
I was 5 when it came out as well. 1995. And I had both that exact woody and buzz that they were playing with in the early clip. A cowboy and a spaceman. Genius. Just transcends time man. You could argue those two themes are the most popular of all time in cinema and they’re just romantic themes, classic Americana. They’re ingrained in the fabric of our history. The Wild West/frontier, and the final frontier/space. What’s cool, is even someone like my dad, born in ‘55 could find just as much joy. Cowboys and spacemen were just as popular when he was a kid. Good times.

Man, I remember when this came out. I was 4 years old and our whole class went to the Movie Theatre to watch it. My mind was blown. I thought I was watching real toys move on screen.
I was 4 years old as well, when the first movie was released in 1995. I don’t remember much about the theatre experience, but maaaan I turned into (in my eyes) the biggest Toy Story fanatic. I used to draw the characters non-stop. My favourite character was and always will be Woody. My mother would freak out at how detailed I’d draw Woody, mainly. Then when I got a Woody doll, that was it. I never left him out of my sight. Even though now I’m 31, Toy Story will always have that special place in my heart.

The funny thing is back when the original came out, in the movie Buzz was the hot new toy to have and Woody was the antiquated one. But when I went to the Disney store to get those I had absolutely no trouble getting Buzz but I had to wait weeks for Woody because he was selling faster than Buzz was, the opposite lol.
That is kind of to be expected. People seem to always prefer to have merchandise based on the main characters over the secondary ones, rather than following their own wants.
