- Trifone Walter Ferrante is the maestro behind Bari Food Cart, a small operation he runs in Portland, OR that serves a delicacy from southern Italy: panzerotti. Walter’s passion for food and hospitality started at a young age back in Italy and brought him to the states where he worked in many restaurants as a server. Once the idea came to make and serve panzerotti, hand-held fried turnovers that are known all around the city of Bari, he knew he had to make it happen. Walter’s panzerotti are filled with the best ingredients he can find, like fresh mozzarella, house-made pesto, tomatoes, peppers, and much more. His passion and love for his customers have made his food cart a hit in Portland.

This man is dangerously Italian.
I feel like I visited Italy just by listening to such passion.
Viciously Italian. I feel like I need to change my nationality to Italian now out of sheer force of Italian accent overload.
I don't know if he is really exagerating the accent, because it seems like he is transposing the (strong) accent of his dialect to english. His italian accent would be as strong as the english one from his dialect I guess
@Nixon E No he's not, lol
This is how some of my family sounds.
Fred Armisen could play him
He's literally like this, he's not pretending at all. The definition of nicest person you will ever meet
@Ding Lao Bing Lao what the hell do you know?
@Ding Lao Bing Lao Well that's rude. I, for one, do know him, and he is genuine, full of energy, and incredibly nice. He is exactly as portrayed in the video.
he's a clown
@Ding Lao Bing Lao I think the person who originally commented actually knows this man in real life, lmao. That's how the comment makes it sound. It's crazy there's such angry mouth breathers out there like you that can't stop and take two seconds to comprehend what was wrote.
@@rummhamproductions8208 Miserable assholes tend to hate naturally happy people.
I'm 100% italian...but let me tell you...this guy Is like 200% with all the italian stereotypes put together ahahah
I feel like I need a nap after watching this.
I thought it was offensively obvious myself 💯 glad I’m not alone 😂
I have a taste for some Paleetza!!!
no offense, but your name gives it away
This guy is the literal face of white privilege.
This is up the street from my house and I never knew about it. Stopped by after watching this. He was sold out and said "thank you for coming to see me today was fucking crazy! The youtube is driving me fucking nuts. I need more space for more food for everybody!" Can't wait to try this soon.
Really happy for him! Hope he'll grow larger in his activity, wish him best luck by an Italian fella here!
If you wanna give him a smile say to him "se Parigi avesse il mare sarebbe una piccola Bari" (if Paris was on the seaside, it would be like a little Bari), I'm sure he'll appreciate; it's a way of saying from Bari made popular by an Italian actor called Lino Banfi. (You can check on Google translate for pronunciation!)
@@FractalMannequin you made my day ❤. That is exactly right
we went too, talked to a kid and asked for cannoli which they were also out of.... the boy was cute ! I assume son ? Anyway soo bummed but totally understand not having enough room for the masses ! wow;; we will be back when we are in that part pf PDX! !
I'm in SE and want to go there after seeing this! This looks amazing!
Fuck ya! imma def check it out next time in the area, sounding like panzerotti for breakfast will be the move to make sure to get one
The Italian says, while assembling the Panzerotto "you have to be gentle, delicate" only to proceed to beat the shit out of the dough. Proper passion right there.
"hard to communicate, but love is blind" LOL love this guy
he's a clown
@Van Lian 😭

As an Italian American I notice Italians from Italy seem to keep a certain childlike joy that they never lose, I love it.
You're right, there's a place near me in NYC called Via Della Pace, if you're ever in the city, the owners there are delightful people., same age group (30'a/40's) but we still act youthful sometimes haha.
Youre prolly 1/1000000 italian
Noticed this too. As an American I was like "wow, can I have what he has in the morning?" he has a certain bouncy jubilance to his energy whereas Americans are feeling a little more somber/serious these days.
I love how he misspelled his food truck and when they tried to fix it he said NO LEAVE IT!! I love how proud he is of who he's become!
I loved this too!
His energy makes me want to go to Portland and buy whatever he's selling.
Ditto ditto ditto!
"you have-a to be a-gentle, delicate" SMASHSMASHSMASH
Haha, I laughed so hard when I saw that
It's to seal the edges, you then trim off the extra dough before cooking.
Lmaoooo
I've always wanted to try those!!!! It's impossible to find those here in phil.
Will probably just fly myself there just eat those kind if things.
@Baku Deku Ny is a couple hours away from phil , little Italy def has some
"In America the dream can come true, but you have to work for your dream. You have to chase your dream. You have to earn it".
Love this guy
Why does America have this rep? And why can't it be done in other places?
In America, the Murder rate in a city like Portland can increase by more than a thousand percent within a year, but vice won’t report on that.
@@1will2kill I take its because of the rampant corruption in other countries.
Look at Mexico for example, a country rich in resources, yet under the firm grip of Cartels. A man can make his food there but wages are low, crime is rampant, and the police are corrupt.
@@twintrbo92 Yes, this is the only thing which saves the US so far, imo.
@@1will2kill Much curiously in Southern Italy there are many people who make a honest living selling panzerotti :D
I love how passionate this guy is about Panzerotti.
Italians do seem to be very passionate people!
This guy is a star.
he's a clown
This is guy real name is Bob Lasar , he might b from the stars , now im starting to think he did provably work for area 51 🤣🤣
@@shlomovenezia101 you’re a clown
@@TheRickestRick33 I'ma loser
@@shlomovenezia101 He maybe a sincere and lovable clown, also a genius of simple south Italian food. You, on the other hand are, a pompous ass, SHLOMOOO!
I have to say, coming from the part of Italy where he comes from, he's doing a pretty amazing job with the english language. Considering that people from that region are almost impossible to understand when they speak italian itself. xD
Walter is such a friendly and warm individual. This makes me so happy seeing my friend getting the recognition he deserves. He really makes the most delicious food.
We love Walter! Such a friendly, genuine guy. I always bring my born-in-Puglia mom here when she visits. The panzerotti are excellent-- great dough, perfectly cooked (I prefer it traditional, just mozzarella and tomato).
Passion in his voice is beautiful.
Speak with passion love your life
He sounds like a genuine italian when he keeps the "A" on southern. What a man.
Not only he sounds like a genuine Italian, he has a strong BARESE accent :D
@@gianmarcorusso1713 That would happen with someone that lives in Italy for 29 years than moves to America lol
I became Italian after watching this video. He’s so Italian it’s contagious.
Right I’m so high rn and I started making pinched hand gestures and sticking my chin up
Maaarone!
The man deserves a medal for spreading happiness. I had a hard day, but just by watching his video about his great food he made my day.

This man must be protected at all cost. I smiled hard when he even drove a beat up Tacoma, such a humble hard working guy 💪
I once hadn’t seen Walter for a few months and he noticed my dog had lost weight. He is the most valuable type of person in the world. Glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves.
If you like salty fish like you should, try the one with anchovies and capers, it’s incredible.
This place slaps so fucking hard, I'm glad you guys are highlighting him
Ahh, can't get more Italian than him, great looking stuff, will have one day
A true Italian. Not that fake murican one who always trying to be and never set a foot in Italy.
@@brianpalmer3560 same goes to the so called "Irish". They've always try and exhaust all the options of being white rather than being themselves. Oh the irony.

The food or the man?
I’m exhausted just watching this. I LOVE THIS GUY !!!!! Italians are so passionate.
"I talk Vrong" had me in stitches
This man is so funny and cute. All good to him
I live right by the carts on foster and hit this spot up often. He's like this all the time. The food is excellent.
bro same i live like 3 mins fron there
Basically a empanada, pastelito, beef patty and Cornish pasty. Amazing how different countries and nationalities have a connected food culture
So true. I firmly believe that food & sharing meals connect the world - it’s a universal language

I want a pastel now!?!
Fatayer
Or chiburek
The food is legit. I go here anytime I make it past 35th on the Eastside. He's just as energetic and happy in person.
Let's stop acting like Fred Armisen didn't just crush that character 😂
bahahah
Lmao
Fucking hell 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is him after shooting Schmigadoon. Lol
3:44 Brings up good memories, visiting italy, with my grandparents as a child, the People where so nice, ciao Bello ect. Specialy squeezeing your cheeks, i hated it. But looking Back. Crazy how nice people can be!
This guy's personality is larger than life. Someone give him his own show!
OMG I used to live a block away from Carts on Foster and would visit Walter all the time, genuinely the nicest person you'll ever meet! I miss him and his amazing panzerotti!
I love this guy! He brings a smile to my face just listening to him tell his story and I can tell he is full of passion and love that's why he is successful. He has got it down, the true wealth is how you make people feel!
The voice of the Panzerroti is spreading 😭❤️😂😂🥺 GET THIS MAN HIS NETFLIX SHOWWWWW NOWWWWWW
hahaha this guys energy and knowledge is so special. i cant even imagine moving to a new country at 29, not speaking the language hell not even being on an airplane before. this guy kicks ass
I respect this man.
This guys positive energy and view on life contagious
This man has a beautiful mind, playing his part beautifully. Which is why he, is successful, and will prosper beyond his own dreams if he keeps this up.
This guy has the greatest vibe. A true business man
Freedom, hard work, sacrifice, hope…and passion.
If you handcuffed this guy he wouldn't be able to talk. Love it!
His shoulders would do all the talking
He's a real Italian! I love it!
2:40 to 2:55 those genuine, kind, friendly interactions between people always leaves a smile on my face
Accent or not he deserve respect, he left all for a change to live far away from his family. Look how much passion put on his work. Bravo Walter questi sono i veri esempi di italiani all'estero che meritano stima💪
I stumbled upon his cart in SE Portland a couple weeks back before seeing this video, and it was truly a great experience; really lovely.
I’m from jersey and the panzarotti holds a special place in our hearts
I worked for a Calabrian chef who had this same thick accent yet had lived in Australia for 30 years... they sound identical and it’s bringing back memories.
this street food icons series is incredible
This guy, he's what makes America the best place on earth. For me he answers the question, what does it mean to be American. It's not by being entitled or by birth but by the ability to dream and work hard to earn it. America is beautiful because of people like him.
He doesn’t need to be rich, the love of the customers makes him happy. I’m gonna throw away all my self help books
I love that his whole home town knows him because he is the son of THE mailman
Oh yes He is
I went to Italy 10 years ago with my daughter. It was her quinceañera present and we had the best time of our lives. Such passionate and beautiful people, we felt right at home. We have so much in common and it wasn’t hard to get around. Being a native Spanish speaker we had no trouble communicating. I’d love to go back once again. Ciao bellissima Italia 🇮🇹
His passion is un matched got love people who love and respect the history of food like this
"you have to be gentle, delicate"
>proceeds to punch it
*SMASH*
What a nice guy!
From Portland. Heard about it but have never gone. Definitely adding it to the list of places to go.
My son and his girlfriend just drove from Sacramento to eat here and said it was amazing!
OMG this guy needs his own show!
My Great-grandfather was from Bari!!!! Still have Picheo family there too!!!
"Sauthern..." that killed me! Loved the fact that he just kept it since that's how he talks.
Grazie mille for introducing Panzerotti to people :)
"The more people happy I make, the more happy I am."
Americans are missing out on this kind of philosophy.
Got damn! I’m watching on my tv but had to grab the phone to leave this comment 😂. This dude is the KING of Italy! Even Mario’s not this damn Italian 😎. I had a lot of Italian friends in Vietnam but he takes the cake man! If I wasn’t on the east coast I’d sure love to try his food and listen to him talk 😅😅
I’ve met this guy in person and he’s the sweetest! His food is amazing too!
Will have to try this tomorrow.
what a great person 👏🏽
His energy is awesome
So much energy this man!! :)

Holy buckets! This man is the epitome of walking enthusiasm! If his food reflects his personality, I imagine he has a very steady stream of regulars.
This guy would be the easiest person to fall in love with. No wonder his wife didn't even need him to speak the language.
Place is bomb....he's always super happy and full of energy
What a champion. His food looks so delicious! I hope he can expand his business some day to share his passion and food with more people.
he sounds like what non-italian people think Italian people sound like. Hes almost like a characture, but he isn't. Its mindblowing
This guy is soooo well prepared for the interview ahhaha love the energy and food seems legitttt
So great to see this guy featured, I live nearby and this place is the shit. Delicious food and good people.
4:05 it's linguistically interesting how he observed a sign that almost certainly said "Welcome TO Oregon" but then still said "Welcome IN Oregon"
He definitely didn't drop is Italian accent on the way there.jeez
We love panzerotti waglió!!
Fuck I was just in Portland. I wish I knew this was there, I would've loved to buy several of these.
Amen I like this guy... God Bless him
I’m from the town near his one in southern Italy, may life can bless you, keeping our beautiful region up❤️
I miss home 😢! He lives in Vancouver. I did the same lives there and worked in PDX.
Even if It wasn't about delicious panzerotti i could literally listen to this king talk about anything and be entertained for hours.
What a guy. In bocca al lupo Walter sei grande.
This guys energy is absolutely wonderful. Bless him.
Grande Walter !!! Best Panzarotti in America !!!
Im so happy that people like this guy exist on this planet
My god, I seriously want this guy as a friend.
Panzerotti is one of the best things I've ever eaten, underrated.
I’m so happy I live in Portland omg I’m going to Bari later.
Lmao he was so hype picking up his order of meats and cheese. 😂 honestly same. Who doesn’t love Italian meats and cheeses?
Impression of mom sounded like Mario. I was expecting to hear.. ITS A ME MARIO! lol! He’s a good dude!
I went to check it out and god! It was great… plus we took all the panzerotti he had left for the day…. Walter is a really cool guy and food is amazing I give it a 10/10
Love his energy!
What kind of sick bastards would thumbs down dislike this video, there is absolutely nothing to dislike about a passionate nice Italian man trying to make it this is a great video and his passion and energy makes me feel great to be an Italian chef myself
