Damn, I miss the 80’s - what great music. What a powerhouse lineup here!
Why in the 80's live concerts were so awesome?
I miss the days of music like this! Nothing compares to it today. Thanks for sharing this great blast to the past. I love Gene Loves Jezebel!
🎶🌹🎶
There is really good music out there today. You have to find it. Dig online, there are great bands making great music.
James Stevenson is phenomenal !!! His Playing is so creative, his guitar sound is enormous.
Yup
Seeing them both performing together, they compliment to one another. I miss them together. No sibling rivalry please.
Love the Ritz!! Have lots of good memories there! What a great show!! ❤❤❤❤
This is really awesome! The best of GLJ. Miss the Twins perform Together under one band.
So impressive they sound so great live💞💞💞
Gene loves Jezebel. A talented group of young men who could sing and play instruments quite professionally. Really good harmony, too. I remember listening to their songs when I was in my teens. My favorite song was (and still is Break the Chain). There are good reasons for that. Today when I hear that song I hear a man calling out to God. "God help me break the chain!" he says. No matter who and where you are in life, Jesus came to break every chain. Romans 10:13 says if you will call on Him that He will answer to save you. It's only in His saving grace that our chains are broken, and we can finally have the freedom our hearts long for. I don't know if any of the band members will read this, but if any do, I want to see you ALL in heaven. Through the blood of Jesus you will be. All our sins were laid on Him. And He will give you eternal life when He is your Lord and Saviour. Our faith in Him is a gift and He is ready to give that gift today. GLJ much love for you all. In Christ, K
This may sound Crazy...but for some reason I got looking for an old song...l used to play at the Club I worked at (DJ) at a Strip club... Anyway it was the song Jealous...l was then lead to this...and to read your comment on Jesus...!!! I love your comment...!!! Please pray for me...That Jesus will break all the chains on me ..!!! I hadn't listened to Gene loves Jezebel in over 25 yrs. or so... Thanks...!!! and Thank you Jesus...!!! Amen...!!!
Cool
They play, stand, move and look like rock stars should. Amazing!!!
I was the guitar tech for James when he played with Idol and for him Jay and Pete for there first 4 tours
Any road stories you prefer to share?
@Dave State-61 awesome would love to hear more road stories.
How f in cool nice dude met him twice when they played here twice killer gigs! Great memories!😻
Dave State-61 like fur sure great GKJ guitarist 😻
GJ The DJ yep me too plz!!!!!!👍🙀
Que buenos eran Michael y Jay cuando estaban juntos en un escenario,épocas doradas de esta super banda.
James Stevenson is a great guitar player
My all time favorite....style is precise and sexy!
What a sound! What an energy! How I miss the days when bands transmitted this kind of vibe! So unfair how underrated this band is/was, so few understood! I got goosebumps when I listened to this video! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!!!
Every live gig is awesome saw em twice met em twice killer live gigs twice!........👍❤️😻
Reminds me of Jane's Addiction...
Perry Farrell sounds like he could've been influenced by them.
Gary Edward Allen great ear! I never caught this before. U r absolutely right.
@@yragnellaable Definitely picked up some fashion from them too💞💞
I love this concert, it's fantastic! What sensuality of these guys! Although "I love Jay"! .. They were and still are beautiful !.♥️💋
very underrated band. They always had a guitarist in the band that was incredible.
Totally agree! Loved seeing Jay play guitar here. He is actually an amazing guitar player. He was named as "one of the best goth-rock guitar players" by some well known website. (I forget the name.) But yeah, a criminally underrated band. For sure! They put out some of the best albums in the post-punk/goth genre.
+Mitch Quintana Jay never played the guitar parts at any time. It was James Stevenson or Ian Hudson. Those were the two early players. Say them 8 times in the 80's and 90's and never saw jay play the guitar parts. Sorry to misinform you. Maybe he does play well, but he has never been" the" guitar player for them.
+Giovanni Joseph That’s not correct... Jay is credited as playing guitar on many GLJ albums. Yes James & Ian probably played the majority of the guitars, but still... And on all the post-breakup and newer albums Jay has played guitar on those albums. Jay also plays guitar in this video! In my original comment, I never said anything about him being THE guitar player for GLG. So IDK where you got that from?
That's a video. Many artists use the guitar as a prop, some, can actually play. But as I said, having seen them many times and following them for more than 20 years, I have not actually seen Jay playing the guitar but rather strumming. Anyways, I meant nothing by my comment.
+Giovanni Joseph Yes it's a video. A video of them playing live. I can assure you that his guitar isn't a "prop". Jay is not playing lead guitar, but he is playing rhythm. Rhythm guitar consists of chord sequences in a song. Also, strumming a guitar is playing a guitar...
I just started playing their cds again after 20 years, thanks
I saw this tour 3 times. They were just fantastic. And James Stevenson is a superb guitarist.
Thanks for uploading this.
Far out how damn cool! I saw em twice & met em twice!!!!........👍❤️😻🙀😱😹🥵
Ian Hudson was the real guitarist. Stevenson was a dude they brought in to cover . He is only Kym Wylde band after all
@@chancesareshewearsHudson only lasted for 2 albums and I believe Stevenson was on all the rest. He is fantastic and has played with a ton of different bands in various genres, not just Kim Wilde.
I think I saw this as bootleg 100 times, around their heyday in 1985-1989ish. I was such a big fan then, until about 1995. I moved to London in 1991 and they moved to LA. 😂 Looking forward to their gig in London tomorrow night. 😆
WOW. Great live perfomance. Love GLJ!
This group was very underappreciated here in the United States in my opinion. I saw them live back in the day and they were one of the few that gave you your ticket's worth!
I loved/love them💞
Gosh, they have a same voice. Proud to be a teen of 80's.
The sound, lyrics, and style really were nothing else in the scene at the time. GLJ were not part of the New Romantics, not quite New Wave, and influenced Early Goth musically, but had a colorful Glam look. Just a Phenominally underrated force. From Promise right through Kiss of Life. Loved Them!
WOW. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!
All time favorite 1980's Band. So many great songs put out during that period in time. Sad I never got to see them live but I at least got these vids
THESE GUY INSPIRED ME IN 1986 AND STILL DO TO THIS DAY . BLJR.^.33
This band is awesome..... i wish i was there and watching this band.. i thought that i was see this band performing live here in the phillippines in the early 80,s but sad to say it was cancelled.... Thank, s for uploading this video.... Let, s wait and see is part of their album titled house of doll....
I saw this the night it premiered on MTV. Yes, I'm old. And yes, it was amazing.
Wish they were still together and performing,id go see them again, they were so amazing.

Great days. My friends and I were big fans . Promise, Immigrant, Discover. Still listen to those cds all the time. My sister and her daughter's are now fans.
Such a fabulous tour and absolutely entertaining from start to finish!
Witnessed this line up at the I Beam on the same tour and loved every minute. Absolute true entertainment and so much fun!
kevin knox I-Beam in SF!! Yes!! They also played at One Step Beyond Down in Santa Clara!! Those were the days! The 80s fucking ruled! So glad I was around back then! 😎😎🎸🥁🎹🎤🔊
def underrated band they should have had a major success ...
Thank you for posting! Loved "Desire" and earlier albums & agree with other commenters that this band is underrated for sure. Regret not seeing them live b/c they sound great here.
Over the rooftops and into the Ritz. I saw this tour.
Fantastic post. Thanks for letting me know Bret~
Rob/Boston
I saw them on the gates of Obras Sanitarias, year 1987,i didnt found any ticket, then Mario Pergollini told me,they will back soon!!! until 2015 it doesnt happen!!! Long time.... Beers from Uruguay!!!
That guitar player is James Stevenson he played with Billy idol in genX
He did, that is a fact : he played in The Alarm, Gene Loves Jezebel, Gen X, The Cult and a few others.
a firm player!
He was also the guitarist in the “Kids in America” song/video by Kim Wilde.
Wow never knew
omg!!! i was there!!!! lol
me too ;)
kerrsgurl me too!
Me too! I was at several Ritz shows that were filmed for MTV and even saw myself in the audience in one when it aired on MTV.
Cool wish I had been Micheal so entertaining while Jay plays guitar love these bros!...........👍❤️😻🥵
This was when they were opening for New Order, saw this tour way back when. BTW add to the song setlist: 3:59 - "Worth Waiting For" . Their guitarist James Stevenson was really great. Thanks for this upload.
this was 1986 when they headlined... 1987 they opened for echo & the bunnymen / new order! those were the days right!
The unsung heroes of this band -- musically -- were the drummer and bass player. James Stevenson, too, of course.
Thanks for this. Quite a gem.
I remember this show - it was an awesome one....
yes! sat. nite 11/15/86 on mtv!!!!!!!!!!!!
they were magical live😍
The best line up ever of GLJ!!!
Thanks so much for posting this. Amazing.
I'm from the the same sleepy town as these lads, met them a few times, know some of their family well, something of a fan of their music etc.
But only now does it occur to me that one of the twins should be cast as the Joker in an upcoming Batman movie.
These musicians think abstract, not ur normal songwriters/singers,,...FN AWESOME !!! I always felt they were ahead of their time \m/
Awesome dude! Thanks.
Thanks for posting! So great to see them pre-House of Dolls.
Lyric/gender change in "Stephen" made me shriek in horror. I don't recall them doing that before, but maybe I was too busy singing along to hear?
awesome! Woah - THAT takes me back :-)
I was so young and had the biggest crush on Jay and almost got backstage with him..damn!
I so love this!!!
The very best !!! Tank you post
Thanks for the upload
Hi Mike and John Aston hope your keeping well ( A ghost from your School days at St Josephs) I followed the bands early days and got most of the releases Some I loved - I never got to a UK gig despite keeping it on the radar it seemed Gene Loved Jezebel played the whole world bar UK. Hope that your both health and the music careers are going to plan. ) My favourite track is Gorgeous which got me into the band. I went many times to Astons Night Club in Bridgend and often watched bands play there.
We Love You Michael and Jay Dear Celtic Twins!👍💜💋🙆😻💑👬⚓🎹🎼🎷🎶🎻🎵🎤😄Shame and I die for You are your Greatest Hymns🐬🐻🐼🐨🐘🐴🐈🔦👽💪

si me dijieran a que concierto te hubiera gusta ir de los 80s y despues te mueres a este sería ver juntos a jay y michael aston grande gene love
Great show.
thanks man!!
Back when they were en fuego. A clear case where the sum is greater than its parts. Stevenson amazing.
Claro q tem...banda showwww sempre ouvia e ainda ouço.
Was fortunate to see them 3 or 4 times during this era, mostly at the Living Room in Providence…for my money one of the greatest clubs ever. Saw ‘em at a summer shed once opening for New Order/Echo & TB. They went on in broad daylight, which I found a little unsettling.
I’m Truthfully, despite Bowie being my all-time favorite, I wasn’t usually a fan of theatrics and such, a band had to be really f****n’ good for me to look past it. They were that and then some. First heard them on “Nocturnal Emissions” on the late, great WBCN.
Saw this tour in person @ the Roxy in Hollywood, crazy awesome!
I remember getting to meet before concert they where sign autographs I had crush on both brother💋I like the first album
Loving this!!! I discovered them just a few years ago and I love most of their stuff. Wish I'd been more in tune when they were touring years ago. But that's the way life goes, sometimes. Better late than never!

the 1980's and heroin took so many great 80's band's it's really sad I barely survived as a session player
How did you do it?
Micheal & Jay together soooo awesome!!........ 👍🇺🇸❤️🔥🙏💯😻🎼🎧💋☮️🧨🤩
I agree!
omg this sounds so much better than the solo versions they do.
I really wish they could have put their personal differences aside - they were magic together!
i remember watching this live on mtv - sat. 11/15/86 ! those were the days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those days are gone forever..reminisce. The intensity of the time was a precursor to what would be lost.

Oi Bear yep still r wish it had never ended best time to b alive memories now & so damn awesome!.......❤️👍☮️😻
I'm hooked in this band, especially Michael, he really is awesome!
Thea played in Essen/Germany 05/17/91 a grateful concert :-)
VERY GOOD !!! SALU2 DESDE ARGENTINA !!!
@41:32. Lady didn't go down easy...respect the fight she gave.
Great band
@03.40
that feeling of being covered in spaghetti while wearing your dead grannys old clothes from the attic...
The lady crashing the stage ❤
Ugh
Love 😍..
Jay Aston was Everything!!!💜
Espetacular

Btw that same voice from both so crazy
Muito Bom!....Será que Bono e U2 não veio/eram a buscar alguma coisa aqui? Muito bom, Lembra-me os meus anos loucos 70/80
Hey, Thanks for posting. Though we are VERY grateful for your posting this legendary gig, do you own the DVD, where it could possibly be re-posted in HQ? Thanks!
+ivorytower99 This show was recorded directly from the TV to a laserdisc and then passed to a dvd format, i own this dvd, but the audio is not very good and I try to fix it a little, thanks for watching..
+erick hdez Thank you. Please, DO!
Me encanta
Loving it, thank you for uploading. Iwas just searching for the "chain" song out of nineties nostalgia. I didn't there was so much more. It reminds me a bit of The Pop Group's music. I wonder if there is a higher quality recording of this
GLJ on fire here,.. Boom xxx
43:43 hear jay say "this is being recorded on mtv... wahhhhhh!
Loved this band when I was a kid......not so sure now.
great band! unique and sexy! I always found their movements onstage pretty bizarre...
♥⚜
So the key change in Worth Waiting For at 5:28 is amazing! Is there an album version where this is in it?
Aguante Argentina buenísimo music
These guys were great! Saw them with Flesh for Lulu, as I recall, back in the day. Who was the joker who pumped up the reverb? Were they new to the soundboard?🤔
