I have been flying the DA-62 for 2 years for an owner. It is very high tech and easy for single pilot IFR but this plane is a maintenance nightmare. It has been down repeatedly for small and major issues including the gear not extending (on a very low hour aircraft) resulting in expensive damage. They aren’t fast. They are not roomy. I’d take a Seneca V any day over it

King Air 90... half the price, faster, carries more, has a lav, and PT6 turbines, pressurized, icing. Yeah, take $1.2mm leftover and you basically almost got the operating costs covered annually in investment returns... for a much more capable plane. Oh yeah, and PT6's- about as save as they come.

I would love to see what the sales figures in Europe are between the lighter and heavier version. Once you have the $$$ necessities to buy one of these, do the higher ATC fees for the heavier aircraft really bother you? If so, are they all grounded with the explosion of diesel/JetA prices and you spent all your money on the plane and can't afford to fly it? I mean ATC/CASA fees in Australia are horrendous (and have arguably contributed to the collapse of GA in this country), but if I won the Powerball, I'd just laugh it off, as I'd laugh off the fact that here this is a AU$3million(!) aircraft.

@@thezeek2745 Yeah.. It's a Diesel engine. Sure wish everyone would stop with the "Jet Fuel" stuff. Diesel engines have some distinct advantages..and a few negatives too. (I have one in my F-350 dually truck).

You are absolutely correct! At least 60% of today's twin pistons will not fly on one engine except in extraordinary circumstances! All they do is give pilots FALSE sense of security and they try to continue flying "low altitude, T/O and Ldg" on single engine until they get below their minimum control limits, then they roll on their back and kill everyone! Also, the pilot must be extremely diligent and have continuous engine out training at least every 90 days to be safe! About the best you can do on most recip twins is if you lose an engine at low altitude, pull the good engine back and maintain CONTROL! You can't argue with proven statistics! Give me a single turbine any day over a light recip twin!

@@joncox9719 Well said. Thank-you. A old saying with piston twins. The good engine takes you to the scene of the accident.

@@pilot3016 People do not realize, especially in the older 50's-70's light twins, the reason they have two engines is because at that time, they did not have an opposed cylinder "non Radial" engine big enough to power the airframe, so they put two engines on to get them in the air! Not so they could fly on one engine! Look at the early Piper and Cessna twins, marginal at best!

If you stick through the whole video, you get the same script with US units towards the end. It seems Diamond made at least two videos for different markets, and the poster just mashed them together here. Hardly elegant, but we get what we pay for. While talking about the vids, I have to say I feel bad for the narrator. He knows as much about airplanes as I know about moon landers. Poor guy isn't even reading a script - I think they just handed him a marketing brochure and told him to read it, acronyms and all.
