It's the reason I didn't left the Sony Mic alone. But the Sony wireless lacks 32 bit float, no way to see any battery feedback. So know I finally can switch to DJI❤
Mine arrives tomorrow. Literally ordered before watching a single video because I had feeling these would fly off the shelves. Us Sony shooters have been so spoiled with their native mic systems that this purchase was a no brainer. And it’s definitely priced to sell.
I just switched to the DJI Mic 2 and instantly went and ordered the adapter. That's a complete game changer for my workflow. Thanks for the video Chris!
i have to ask, how is this a game changer for your workflow? you're just replacing a cable that you have to plug into the camera and the receiver, with an adaptor that you have to plug into the camera and the receiver. What changes?
@@danielarmstrong2144 The less cables I have to carry/keep track of stream lines my flow. Not to mention there's no "plug" into the camera now, it's a hot shoe mic, just like the Sony ECM-B1M. Also the fact that I have an L bracket that doesn't have to be adjusted or moved to accommodate a 3.5mm cable, and helps me to go from vertical to horizontal seamless on the fly, and doesn't slow me down.
Hi Chris, it's way to late to comment but it seems to me there are two potential issues with using the adapter. Most significant is that on my FX30 this results in an automatic and unadjustable camera audio level which is not necessarily the level you would want to choose. I just did some initial tests and with quiet outdoor sounds it is setting the level way too low. I then reverted to the cable and was then able to set the level and the result was far far better. The second more minor issue is that the adapter then charges whatever you have attached it too - in my case the DJI Mic 2 receiver - and this means in circumstances where you have the camera switched on a lot of the time but record less often (for example walking around looking for birds) the camera battery gets run down more quickly.
I don’t even own a DJI mic 2 but I bought one of these adapters as soon as I seen it released. Figured they’d sell like hotcakes and bought one just incase I got the mic 2 in the near future
The shape the adapter is means it will work in many cages directly. The front and side only stick out about 1mm-2mm most cages have that space. Also i think thats why they made it about 12mm height so it moves the receiver up to clear most alu cages. Will it work for all cages nope but it will work for many and its easy to check looking at a 'top' picture of a cage to see if you have enough clearance.
Well done Chris. Not seen this anywhere else. Literally is a game changer. Was under the impression only Sony mics would be making the most of the digital interface. Have you done any sound comparisons yet? Assume this is digital to digital interface (like the Sony mics) so skips the DACS?
Thanks! Great overview. 2 Things i might add: In your video you showed ONE mic attached feeding 2 channels on your fx3. Is it possible to feed the 2 mics into 2 separate channels on the fx3? And 2nd: i use the sony uwp series audio transmitter wich also has this digital transmit feature. While not having to use a 3.5mm cable is nice, the main feature of this for me is the digital transmit. Not converting it back in an analog signal wich then gets re-converted in a digital one is a huge advantage resulting is a significantly lower noise level. Audio is way more cleaner this way.
Yes and Yes, you can have 2 channels in max so either stereo or mono (2 channels mixed) but with a -6dB safety track. Transfer is fully digital at 16bit/48khz or 24bit/48khz. All controls will be turned of in the camera but you can control things from the dji receiver.
Hopefully the dji mic 3 has this on the clip already so u dont need an adatper. subtracting a cable but adding an adapter still makes u bring something extra lets hope they make a sony specific dji mic 3 with this already built in.
Great - but I wish (hope) that Sony will make that interface extension cable available to purchase (instead of hoping for a random one on eBay)). I wonder if it can in fact be ordered as a 'part' from Sony??
I would love if the adapter was a bluetooth receiver for the DJI Mic 2 TX - an even more minimal setup to get audio into the Sony digital shoe... But this adapter is pretty cool.
That would be probably 1 channel and lower audio quality this ships the analog convert and no bt signal so you get full 24bit/48khz into the camera. I am not against bt as a backup method but this at $35 is better.
It's sad that it doesn't work for the Sony zv1 :( I was dumb to buy it without even researching. Well, I guess I now have a stronger case to buy a new camera. 🤣😅🤣
I'm new to all this, I'm just wondering why can't they just make the receiver bottom the same as the adaptor so I don't have to use a cable or an addition adaptor to make it work...
i got mine, but when i plug it in, it does not pick up the audio, any ideas? the dji mice shows audio, but on my camera the audio is greyed out, im using an fx3
I wonder if its possible to timecode sync through the multi interface shoe? I know the DJI Mic 2 doesn't have timecode anyway, but wouldn't that be something?
Yeah, appreciate the mention of the 'cage' (which is how I have my Sony camera setup). But, clearly that's not saving me anything so for me I'm out. Still appreciate the information.
The assumption you make is the same one DJI makes… that all users own the receiver. But guess what? Many users only own the Mic 2 and many of those users own two of the Mic 2 transmitters. Why? Because they also own the hot selling DJI Pocket 3… which was offered bundled with the Mic 2, but can support up to two transmitters. So for the many DJI Pocket 3 owners there is really no way just to buy the missing receiver. It would be great if DJI offered a Receiver and Charging case bundle so Pocket 3 owners could complete the set, and also benefit from being able to use the Mic 2 with their other cameras. Because most DJI pocket owners are not going to opt to buy extra Mic 2’s since the Receiver can only support a max of two transmitters. I really hope someone at DJI pays attention to this.
Well said!! They sold the OP3 Creator Combo pack as the one to get, then completely screwed us with options for the Mic 2 pack. I hope DJI see this and rectify it!
not needing to bring the 3.5mm cable is not "one less thing to pack" when you're adding in something else to pack. the addition of the adaptor means you're not gaining or losing anything. you still have to plug it into the receiver and then into the camera, you still have to pack them separately because it doesn't fit in the charging case, and you still need to be careful with it because if you break the pins it's the same as breaking your cable. it's net 0 for packing, nothing has changed except your mic is now more expensive AND doesn't support auto on/off...
Why didn't you tell anything about possible quality improvements on the audio by using this method by the way? Or are there none? And it's it just only for convenience?
Indeed you can expect a lower NR given that it skips the analog conversion and feeds the camera directly with 2 channel 16bit/48khz or 24bit/48khz. How much that effects things really depends on your setup.
you can get the sony multi interface cable with just a simple email to your local sony alpha service center like so: "Hi... I have a sony xlr mic and lost the cable." They will answer: "sure... it's 50 bucks + shipping." The end
this was great, until I tried to mount it on my zve1 with cage and realized I just wasted 35 bucks because it didn't fit. Amazed that they didn't think ahead as most users have their cameras in a cage.
@@chrisbrockhurst I would run an extra two channels of wireless at all times if I didn't have to sacrifice an XLR port for it. I don't want the K3M hanging out up there since it's so big
Always love to discover these new gadgets on your channel but this workaround completely defeats the main purpose and that’s not mentioning the cost, even for the adapter alone.
Too much time, trouble and accessories to make this work. Ima stick with my Rode Wireless Go II Dual Mics. I think those have better sound quality than DJI Mic 2.
Dude wtf man, that unboxing was just so uncalled for, it made my kid puke which then made my dog puke outside which then made my neighbor puke and he got pissed. Chill.
Without being able to store this adapter IN or ON the Rx itself in the case .. it absolutely is "just one more thing to worry about" and just replaces one small cable with one small adapter. This is so useless
Maybe put in your title just for the Sony cameras, such a disappointment this is only release for Sony, Sony ain’t always the perfect camera for most people
I was about to pull the trigger on some Rode mics, but this honestly might sway me to DJI.
Cables are the enemy
Yeah. Major plus. I still record off camera due to cables

Don’t forget now you can use the DJI mic and have a 3.5mm shotgun mic attached the the mic in on the cam and have two audio sources
arg, feels like it should be for the DJI Mic 1 as well.
The connectors are physically different unfortunately
Awesome, btw loving the warm look your doing for the new studio
Thanks man!!
I think it's the value prop that makes this a gamechanger. It's a nifty thing that's appropriately priced... pretty rare in camera accessories 🤣

That last second color grade though
Can use with lumix s5iix?
Game changer, currently collect money for the mic & adapter
i like how this puts more pressure on rode to make something similar but as it stands, id still chose rode over dji
Found my model on you video I just had to pause it. Hahaha. Sony ZV-E10 💪🏽💪🏽
I need it lol ohhh well I guess I have to get the mic 2 now lol 😂 Great video!
Thanks for the tip on the PDF, as I couldn’t find the info on the dji website.
I had to search for that one hard

Any cage recommendations that will expose the cold shoe?
I hope the Hollyland make also a little adapter for the Lark Max series.
Does it powers the receiver as well ?

thanks just ordered from your B & H link
Hope you like it!
Would be amazing if sony could release relocation cable as a separate product for sale.
Does this increase the bit rate vs using 3.5 audio jack?
Adapter power suply?
Is there still a debate about audio quality over the mk1 mics with and without the new lavs ?
HI. Is 32 bit supported with this configuration?

Thank God they threw the 6700 in there ;) mine will be here today :)
Thanks for the PSA that this exists! :D
Any time!
Wish Nikon or Sony would make the camera Bluetooth able to pair with DJI via Bluetooth to transmit the audio wirelessly
It's a shame that the adaptor does not support camera on/off! But thanks for pointing out.
Can you include the link of the Sony models compatibility please. I cannot find on website at all.
great if they can be used it on sony a6000...
Don't they?
Is there a difference in audio quality when using the adapter vs a 3.5 mm cable
Do the DJI mic 2 have the same problem that the original has when using some lapel mics? They would have a ton of noise while using most mics.
Seems to work for the FX6 as well!
Do you have confirmation for that? Would love to use it with my FX6
Is it possible to use the DJI mic 2 only via bluetooth to the a6700? ( that is without a receiver)
They should make a version for Lumix, but I understand why they started with Sony.

can the top bit be charged or powered by the camera, or is it something your going to need to constantly take it off the camera to charge it?
It's sad that it doesn't work for the Sony zv1 :( I was dumb to buy it without even researching. Well, I guess I now have a stronger case to buy a new camera. 🤣😅🤣
Can you record in 24bit or only 16bit?

I’ll definitely consider it when the shipping cost isn’t 50% of the item cost.
Amazon. Free
@@chrisbrockhurst Not yet in Canada. The "included" shipping is just built into the cost for now. It will be a few weeks.

Im so confused, how does the dji mic 2 connect to say a nikon z camera??
Great video! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
out of the compatible camera list, does anyone have any solid suggestions? A lot of those are in the ball park of like $7,000.
wheres the link to the compatability list please
List is in the video
Yeah, appreciate the mention of the 'cage' (which is how I have my Sony camera setup). But, clearly that's not saving me anything so for me I'm out. Still appreciate the information.
The cage makes everything complicated but also useful. We can’t win
Too bad its not rotatable or switchable
can't wait to get the same fir the fuji gfx100/s/sII
Wish I would have waited for the Mic 2.... I have the original and don't feel like buying yet another system.
is it possible available for Lumix in futture???
Sure if they make it market size these days i would bet sony then canon and if demands is good other brands that have a digital in on the hotshoe.
The auto power on/off not working is a massively sad blow.
how about a cold shoe mount for the DJI Mic 2 that doesn't suck.....
This works great
Does anybody know if Rode has made such mounting adaptor for Sony fx3?
The cable is super buggy as well ... Mine keeps on malfunctioning and I lose audio right in the middle of a shoot
Auto Turn Off/On feature is a big dealbreaker for me. Cut the cord but the chances are you are destined to forget to turn on the receiver.
Does this give off any horrible RF noise /interference that the Rode mics can suffer from?
No its a fully digital connection from the receiver to the inside of the sony camera.
Damnit why doesn’t for the DJI mic 1
