The Doors channel is the official UA-cam home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.
How lucky we are to hear from and listen to you after all those years. 🙏
John is still so sharp, youthful and engaging. It always feels like he's talking about his band from 5 years ago, not 50.
Wait till you're over 40 every year is six months, next thing you know you're pushing 60, life if short. I'm 57, 37 mentally and feels about 7 year's ago not 20
@@m42037 I'm in my 40's & agree. I guess my point is: When you listen to Robbie speak & play now, he's (respectfully) an old man. The Doors seem like a lifetime ago.
John however is still a young man in the way he talks and plays. He obviously looks old but it feels like he just saw Jim last week.
@@m42037 When I was in my 40’s it was like “it’s Friday again, it’s Friday again.”
Early 50’s; “it’s January already, it’s February already…”
I’m almost 60 now and it’s like “it’s my birthday again, it’s my birthday again!”
Yes it goes faster and faster.
Probably all the acid and weed he partook 😂❤😂Break on through
Inspiring.
John Desamor does not get enough credit for his drumming 🥁 and trippy style of drumming. Epic music! 🤙🏻
I disagree, john took Jim's song Light My Fire with out permission and sold it to
Ford. It is called THEFT!
For sure!
@@elainebrown6230 Can't steal from a dead man.
@@elainebrown6230 In October 1968, The Doors are approached by Buick to use Light My Fire in a television commercial to promote sales of the Buick Opel. On February 5th, 1969 the advertising manager for GM issues inter-company letters outlining the advertising campaign for the Opel, stating that magazine ads, a poster, and a television commercial will be used for promotion, however it appears that the television commercial did not enter into production stages, and hence was never broadcast. A recorded copy of this television advertisement has never been found. While Buick did retain the rights to use Light My Fire in their advertising campaign as they saw fit, The Doors were not scheduled to appear in the advertisements themselves. John Densmore recalls "It all started in 1968, when Buick offered us $75,000 to use Light My Fire to hawk its new hot little offering--the Opel. Ray, Robby and I OK'd it, while Jim was out of town. He came back and went nuts. And it wasn't even his song (Robby primarily having penned 'LMF')! In retrospect, his calling up Buick and saying that if they aired the ad, he'd smash an Opel on television with a sledgehammer was fantastic!".

Obviously LUDWIG Drums is just Mooching Off THE LEGENDARY and a few minutes is All those wankers feel is enough.
He should get an award for "when the music is over". Great musician!!
I wish he and/or Robbie would share how 'When the Music's Over' was created, to this day the greatest rock song ever recorded.
My daughter is 12 and love that song.
She say is a haunted song 😂
Enjoy this man while he’s still around. Most legends seem to die young. We’re blessed to have John still around.
All four members of the doors were musical geniuses.
As a young drummer in the mid 60s, John was one of my heroes. My best friend, also a drummer, and I would take turns playing to the first Doors album. He had a den where his set was. And we would turn up the volume and play along. We learned a lot. Thanks John. Thanks Doors.
Densmore inspired my quest to be a good drummer . he was unlike any other drummers in the 60's rock scene. his interest in latin beats made some of the Doors songs unique. how he blended latin into a rock beat was quite a accomplishment . i was surprised after the doors broke up he did not join another band and further his talent . a drummer is as much of a composer as any instrumentalist or song writer. why he hung up his sticks , so to speak is a mystery to me.
i am going to do some research on John Densmore career as a aspiring young drummer.
i believe he took lessons from Hal Blaine ( RIP ) the session drummer in the " wrecking crew " a group of musicians who cut the tracks for many recording artists . Hal Blaine was the
actual drummer on Albums by the Byrds, Beach Boys and many top forty one hit wonder groups. also 100's of advertising jingles. he did not tour with the groups.
i can't imagine any other drummer but John that could play for the songs the Doors wrote and recorded. he was a perfect fit for the doors. like Ringo Star was for the Beatles. thanks John.
Ps. that was Densmore who played the drums on Doors Albums. he was not " replaced " by a studio session drummer.
Late 60s early 70s
He did some post Doors side projects, look on his Wiki page for some of it mentioned in his "later years".
Beautiful drum kit played by an amazing drummer! Loved seeing him play that fill in “Hello I Love You”. Thanks John Densmore!
The Bossa Nova break in LA Woman [" I see your hair is burning, Fields are filled with fire..."] is coolness exemplified.!!
What a great guy John is happy birthday 🎂 for 1/12/22 John, from a fan in Australia 🇦🇺, you are a legend on those drums
Seeing John at the Whisky is very cymbalic
😆😆😆
Niiiice! 😉
Супер! Дядя Джон, давай еще!
John Densmore - intelligent, engaging, great player, huge influence for so many of us…down to earth, I think he could hang with just about anyone! Thank you, John, for being such a cool guy and a great drummer, propelling The Doors music to such great heights. 🥁❤️
🫶🏻best band forever!
John's def got a unique sound, I haven't heard anyone replicate anything close what he does
Doors and Creedence ... don't sound quite right when bar and do them. They always miss that 'interior' stuff in the drums and rhythm.
I'm a guitar player and I started playing in the 60's. I have to say when I heard John Densmore's drumming on the Doors 'Light My Fire' I immediately signed up for drums in the music dept at my Jr High school - all it took was that opening snare snap before the rest of the band plays a note. Those great understated fills, all that rhythmic angst he put into the drum parts of each Doors song just blew me away and still does to this day. I got tossed out of drum class (just like I had the year before in 6th grade) for my smart mouth, my lack of dedication to learning the rudiments of drumming per the textbook and the sheet music. I was an ear player and still am and the teachers didn't like it and I told them where to jump off. As I got older, I always listened to the drums in bands even though I am a strings musician. I still love the drums. The Doors couldn't have created the sounds they did with a lesser drummer or one that played more (say like a drummer like Keith Moon) - John was what and who was needed for that band - Even Ray and Robby both said that. Maybe John and Jim didn't get along so well - that's understandable - John is a serious musician and knows his stuff. Jim was not a musician per se. Kudos to John Densmore for his incredible drumming. It's a crime that he is still under-appreciated - and that goes for Robby too as a guitarist. They were both overshadowed by guys like Ginger Baker and Clapton, Keith Moon and Pete Townsend, John Bonham and Jimmy Page, Mitch Mitchell and Jimi Hendrix, Ian Paice and Richie Blackmore etc. Even Ray has been overlooked as a great keyboard player. But they were all three absolutely GREAT! What a band The Doors was!
John Densmore is a legend in my book! Definitely one of my major influence....I just love playing Hello I Love You and Light my Fire.
78th Birthday coming up on December 1st.. Happy Birthday John! Jim
John Densmore An American Legend! Love You John And All Of The Great Doors Songs!
Thank you John for your excellent drumming and creativity.
John Densmore is the only person on the planet who could play drums to The End and create the style to help make it a great record.
One of the greatest and coolest drummers in human history ☮️
"Unhappy Girl" was the song with the backwards keyboard.
I wass never a Doors fan but they one of the most original bands i have ever heard and so Great
The Doors hit me hard, especially John. I used to lay in the living room with headphones on listening to Weird Scenes inside the Goldmine on vinyl. It was a compilation like no other.
Спасибо, Господи, что есть такие 77 летние дядьки, как Джон !)
Да, для своего возраста он выглядит потрясающе
Thank you John we Love you for keeping The Doors alive 💕💕💕💕💕 Awesome 😎 Jim🌹🌹Ray
Always loved Densmore's drumming. Those songs wouldn't have been what they were w/o his contributions on the kit. I would argue he was one of the guys that helped advance the form of rock drumming.
I remember leaning over the portable record player with a weak speaker so that I could hear what I was playing along with, and I never thought that I would be living in a "Time Machine" that rekindles my early Days of Drumming. Thanks John, and Ludwig, and Whisky a Go Go, this was great but could easily become a movie. You think? Maybe Rick Beato could run with this and produce it?
De los únicos bateros que hacen hablar al instrumento, sus líneas legibles cuentan una gran parte del gran cuento
Que dios te bendiga John, gracias siempre !!!!
Happy Birthday John! 🎂🥁
Ludwig Legacy series! 🏆
The drum base of doors is so creative and rich. John is really a big inspiration. Totally different of nowadays but, looks like updated.
I love the way he tunes and that he just immediately took those bottom heads off to get his signature tom sound. I wonder if he was one of the first to really go full time concert tom?
John, avec 3 jours d'avance, bon anniversaire. Toute ma vie a été accompagnée par vous quatres. Hier encore, en me balladant, j'écoutais '' Queen of the highway ''. Et ça dure depuis 1973. Salutations de France et bonne continuation. Merci les Doors, merci. ❤️🎶🥂
Thanks for posting this!
....m speriamo sempre che i membri dei doors siano eterni!.... ma un giorno ci lasceranno ed io sentirò una mancanza!
Fabulous Drummer. John has such a jazz drummers perspective and feel. He plays so
Many jazz fills in the doors music library.
This is the 55th anniversary, not 50th...correct? BTW, my 4th grade teacher, 1978-79 school year was Ann Baldwin -- John Densmore's aunt. Elmer S. Bagnall Elementary School, Groveland, Massachusetts.
Legendary band, extraordinary drummer!
I really liked when he said Bossa Nova, Jobim. I'm brazilian and I appreciated it.
Wow, John Densmore is the best.

My dad was a drummer in the 50's would probably love this set. The Doors are a big influence and would have love to have known Morrison to share my poetry with and ask his opinion.
O Brasil foi citado pelo gênio, que orgulho !
I owned a six piece Ludwig Mod Orange kit (custom wrapped) from 2005-2014. It sounded amazing and looked even better!
I’ve been looking for this video for awhile, I’m glad to see it back up. I remember seeing it a few years ago when the kit was released, but then the video was hard to find. Beautiful drums

Thanks for sharing John, always fun to hear stories and how things happened. Drums are very nice.
How refreshing to see John Densmore did a great job displaying a beautiful orange Ludwig drum set been a big fan for years. Seen them at the Felt Forum in Madison Square Garden if you do the research, you’ll find is a very talented drummer .
One of my favorite drummers.
Great sound!
The beats that they came up with were just legendary.
Outstanding! Many Thx..
love for the Doors always
He's still got it.
I noticed the standard bass tom muffler on the bottom (actually drum is upside down) of the drum in the vintage concert photo. I have an original 60's kit in silver sparkle (same dimensions). Was great to watch this video PS Lot of drummers used 7A's back in the day
Sounds great
Cheers John!
