Doors sound tech said John is a small man who wouldn't likely weigh more than 90 lbs even with lead shot in his pockets. But he got a mighty and powerful sound with a simple setup and no double kick drums. It's in the wrists and fingers.
Favorite Doors tune: Riders on the Storm Favorite Densmore beat: Peace Frog Densmore is great I always liked his groove and swing. Very tasteful percussionist.
I love these style breakdowns! Good timing on this one as I was just grooving on Soul Kitchen yesterday, thinking "man this is a funky song - the syncopation of the bass, drums and guitar lines is fantastic!
One of the most dynamic drummers very reactive player the doors would not have been the same without him Nice shirt Bill Ward doesn’t get enough love he’s another his Playing was very different very musical
When I was starting out, learning to play the drums way back in 1990 at the ripe age of 13, I was getting into all of the late 60's & early 70's music and The Doors were by far, my favorite band til I was at least 15 and Densmore's drumming really inspired me to listen more to jazz
The Doors. The first rock band that engulfed me into music. My father played “The End” for my brother an I on the birthday of our Late uncle. It was the song my uncle played at his last moments. I fell in love with the song. The ample voice of the drums. The keys were mystical. The guitar was textured. And the vocals beautifully haunting. This song and many more by The Doors inspired my brother and I to pick up instruments. My brother first learned the keys, and I took up the back beats. This was back in 2018-19. John Densmore was the first drummer to inspire me. Four years later, I’ve grown into a drummer that I could’ve only dreamed of when starting. I owe my journey of drumming to his career and influence. And I am still growing. As a drummer, I love this Video!
You're awesome dude.. Solid drumming n a fine teacher.... Not a bad voice either. Keep the vids coming..I really enjoy them. I've been playing drums for 50 years now..I play in our church band..I taught my son to play n now he's the drummer for the band, the menzingers..✌🏼🙏
The Doors without Densmore would never had been The Doors , yes indeed !! Glad that you are seeing him as the great player , he always strucked me , and way tight..Excellent playing by you there buddy !! a very enjoyable video !!The blues mate , the blues : )
You do a fantastic job with these videos. I've been playing since 68 and you have a lot to offer. Your dignified demeanor separates you from u tubers great job 👍
I gotta tell you Cobb, I can see some Levon Helm and Chris Layton in your drumming as well your tribute to John Densmore. Thanks for reminding this old drummer of loving The Doors. Peace and Blessings!
Super cool break down of John's drumming. I was so influenced by the Doors back in High Shool that my HS buddies thought I'd become a music producer later in life. This was back in the middle to late 70's. Love the Doors! Thanks for the video!
Thanks dude. I actually play drums in a UK doors tribute, and you just educated me - there's some stuff I didn't realise I was doing slightly differently!
Excellent analysis of an under the radar great Drummer. Yes the Latin in the verse, Rock in the Chorus' was not something I never noticed. Salut. Color me subscribed.
Nice video dude! I wanna learn about drums so I'm subbing ps you should do more videos like this where it's what makes a band different from a drumming perspective I think those videos make people learn the best me at least cause it helps you learn what to listen for in your favorite songs
I found this thoroughly informative and enjoyable. Great information displayed and communicated in an eloquent and easy to understand presentation. Bravo!
All four members of the band had such a unique sound but Densmore definitely flys under the radar. Great job displaying just how unique his playing was
JD had a very distinctive style. It doesnt sound hard or complicated from listening to the music, but learning their songs note per note wasn't too intuitive for me. This also indicates how good of a musician he is, playing something complicated, but making it sound good and fitting to the track requires skill.
Favorite song by The Doors or John Densmore drum beat?
the end!!!!!!!!!!!!
alabama song
Peace frog
L'America and its psychedelic style
L.A. Woman
John Densmore just posted this video on his Twitter.
As a teen I remember a interview where he says he trys to punctuate Jim Morris singing
yup, they fed off each other
You know you hit the nail on the head when John himself shares your video.
As a doors fan and a beginner drummer i really appreciate your video, you made me realize more about the genius of John Densmore
