37 years old, male. Have been consuming around 500-600mg of caffeine anhydrous 5-6 days a week over the span of 14-15 years. There have been periods where I stopped because of tolerance. Been off it for around 4 days or so. Last two days I’ve needed to take a nap for an hour or two.

Been off coffee for months now and feel so much better. Stomach also feels more settled too - coffee was so acidic it really played around with my digestion without me realising how much. It was only when I came off it did I realise how much it was having an effect on me. My sleep is also considerably better. That being said, I’ve been drinking matcha green tea in the morning (one cup only) and feel great. No jitters, stomach is settled and my sleep is great. 3 things. 1 I swear I can tell if someone drinks coffee regularly but their under eyes. 2. Genetics...fast/slow metabolizers matters and most people don't know. 3. there is no really safe time to ever drink coffee due to it's fairly long half life, even if you drink it at 7am, and go to bed at 11pm you will have SOME caffeine in your system so most people always have it in their blood and don't even know themselves without it until they stop. My sleep is so much deeper without and wake up fresh not feeling like i have to have it, stomach way better, and eye bags gone. Coffee is a poison designed to keep the worker bees working.

You can have coffee once in a while. Its not a problem. But when you have caffeine everyday like multiple times what you are doing is becoming reliant like literally letting caffeine control your life. Afterall a stupid cup of coffee shouldn't predict your day when you are a human being. Caffeine doesn't provide you energy it just makes your body and nervous system go crazy which makes you feel good due to dopamine. I won't say give this up or give that up. But you should decide whether you want to be reliant or independent. He is saying it isn't a performance enhancer anymore. It is something that you need to consume in order to even not feel worse. Also it feels super crazy when you drink it after a certain period of abstinence.

Don’t see what the big deal with caffeine is anyway. Seems to me like most people in the fitness industry use it as a crutch. People should learn how to train regardless of how they “feel”. Eat consistently well, get some decent sleep and don’t skip on your fruits and vegetables.
If you are having an off day at the gym lessen volume, the intensity or both during the workout, DONE!!!
The fitness industry is making a killing with all the pre-workouts that are sold. It’s a product while useful on occasion is one of the most overrated supplements in existence and can be done without 99% of the time.

It doesn't seem to matter for me when I take it, it causes me to crash at some point and I struggle to sleep through the night. But I do feel like as long as it's not a dependence it does provide some great benefits, but better sleep is more important

I just enjoy a fucking coffee! 3 black coffees during the day. Usually wake up, cold shower (min and a half cold/ 3 min warm/ min and a half cold), then a litre water. Around an hour to hour and half later, first coffee. Personally, no issues. Good sleep routine, workout 5-6 days predominantly resistance training. Balanced diet, no monster/red bull drinks, barely drink any alcohol (maybe 1-2 drinks every 4 months). Puff a bit of bud every now n then ;) (pure, no baccy). Fair play to him if he feels good though. However I don't really see the need imo. Potentially as I get older this opinion may change. Interesting convo though guys.

It's great to hear that you have a well-rounded routine, including a balanced diet and exercise, and that you enjoy your coffee without any negative effects. Everyone's relationship with caffeine is different, and it's great that you have found a balance that works for you. It's also great to hear that you're open-minded and willing to re-evaluate your opinion as you age. Thanks for sharing your perspective, and I hope you continue to find what works best for you.
