    I used to work for a cable Co. just give them a call and request for some conduit to be installed. most decent plant managers will dispatch a tech. we had to do stuff like that all the time. 5 min call and you and Frankie are all the better!!

    When plugging the damaged area, why didn't you just pull the weeded areas, and then backfill with good Bermuda? I would think it would reduce your chemical costs. Instead you opted to remove areas with dirt, and then left the areas with weeds you sprayed.

    A suggestion. When pulling the plugs from the new area, put them a bucket or other receptacle to refill the holes left by the donor plugs.

    I have a question about when to cut new grass. We sowed grass seed, fescue (TN) close to 3 weeks ago and after a good 2 days of rain, I am finally seeing sprouts! YAY! The miracle of rain vs watering. Anyhow, I just spotted that we have about 1 1/2 of grass seed sprouts. When should we start to mow. Staying off the area 2 weeks or just start mowing it 2x a week?

    Quick question, I'm in SoCal, and I think I've inherited (new house) a lawn of Fescue... and I want to get Bermuda going because, well, it makes more sense in SoCal.
    Can I just overseed? Should I crop the Fescue down super low before seeding?

    As a teen starting a lawn care business, what do you recommend me to offer to my customers? Should I buy an aerator? What all can I do without being licensed? How old do you have to be to get a license and how do you get one? And then being licensed what all does that allow you to do?

    Another good video LCN! I found your channel about 3 months ago and have gone through about your entire video collection, lots of good stuff. After being in my new house for a year, I have already gone through one growing season to see what the yard will do, and am ready to take control. I have centipede (Columbia, SC), do I really need to stay away from 2, 4-D for weeds with this type of grass?

    Allyn! Big fan! It might snow up here in the transition zone (Virginia), what are your thoughts on the old wives tale about throwing cool season seed on top of snow for an overseed/reseed? Also, for those planning on spring seeding, what do you think about putting starter fert down before the snow hits so when the snow melts completely, the soil is a fertile hotbed, loaded with seed, ready to germinate.

    So here is a question to you. In your last home where you seemed to dominate for years, how long did it take you to get that lawn to domination state? So far, and forgive me for this, florida seems to be kicking your ass so far. Now granted that you pretty much had to start from scratch, so I was wondering, what is the time frame you expect it to take for your lawn down there to dominate?
    I also have a lawn question for you about my lawn. My yard was overseeded with tall fescue last year and it looked pretty dang good. During the fall, I did a frakenlawn test with my back yard. I put down rye and let me tell you what, I have the best looking lawn back there (with the fescue starting to grow in with it, it looks like a plush carpet lol) compared to anyone. In fact I already have had to mow 4 times since February and thats highly unusual for around here. So my question is this, Im getting ready to overseed again with tall fescue. Im mowing at 3.5 inchs, should I take that down to about 2 inches before I seed again?

      D. Cole as a long time resident of Florida...it is a lot harder to grow a nice lawn down here than most anywhere else. Extreme heat, sandy soil, bugs, excessive humidity....wish I could have those deep green perfect Midwest lawns down here but that's not gonna happen

    • @xDoomsdayx
      @xDoomsdayx 7 років тому

      yeah but you are not the lawn care nut who happens to be an expert in
      the field. Pretty much his entire channel has been about domination
      over your neighbors through knowledge. Im just trying to get a feel for
      his dominance timeline. See, not only is he in a new climate but he also
      started the grass off from scratch. I have been working on my lawn for a
      year now trying to get it fully dominate ready but I didnt kill off my
      lawn, im in stead taking a multi year approach with overseeding and more
      actual lawn care. This was the first year my lawn has seen grass seed
      or pretty much anything except mowing in at least 20 years and it
      already looks a 100% better, I cant even imagine how great its going to
      look in a few more years.

    New home owner question, I recently put Bermuda seed in mid March in South TX (bordertown) all was going well until we had random cold fronts and got the temps at 50-55 at night. Now I notice some (not all) purple and brown. What should I do?! I put starter fertilizer earlier this month. It's warmer now and am hoping it comes back to it's green self

    Those utility companies do dome odd things.. I found phone and TV cable laying on the ground in weeds up to your waist and only stapled to a post to keep it from getting ripped out of their box. A decent install will use some plastic pipe at ground level to protect the cable, but most do not take the time because most utilities use contractors for a new service install.

    • @jordanroberts1519
      @jordanroberts1519 7 років тому

      Yes, but as the season changes, let it get taller. If it's fescue, longer in summer shades the base of the plant and keeps dark color. Basically 3"-3.5" Spring/Fall, 3.5"-4" Summer. First and last mows of season 3".

    hello from cold Syracuse NY. Question on how to level a bumpy lawn. I get a lot of ant hills in the summer. little tiny brown ants and they leave small softball sized hills and leaves the grass bumpy. Also it seems my lawn is loaded with fleas as my 6 tiny dogs seem to get fleas even though they are on flea meds all year long. So whats the best product to kill ants and fleas and to level my lawn. I mow with a 900lbs zero turn and still dont level the dirt.

  • @Herintruththelies

    Would it be beneficial to do your bermuda plugs with longer unmowed grass? My thinking is just that the more greenery up on top of the plant, the more it is able to support new root growth into it's new home soil.
    I just know many garden plants prefer to be transplanted when they have full green growth going so I was wondering if this isn't also true of bermuda grass. It may be a detail that doesn't matter though.

    • @TheLawnCareNut
      @TheLawnCareNut  7 років тому

      bermuda will be encouraged to grow "out" rather than "up" if you cut it super short and often. It's natural for it to do that.

    Instead of spaying the weeds in the big bare spot, couldn't you have plugged them out and replace it with the bermuda plugs?

    Hey Allyn, what is it about reel mowing at lower heights that rotary can't handle? Like what are the mechanics of it that make it brown up.

    • @rey3472
      @rey3472 7 років тому +1

      Not Allyn, but I can probably answer. A rotary will start to grab and pull on the stolons. A rotary also does not shear grass straight across. The whirling blade tears the tops off of the grass. A rotary will also find every single deviation in the ground and scalp in a circular pattern.

      rey3472 thanks for that info, Rey. I had my suspicions that would be the case. So can you train Bermuda to be sub 2" with a rotary mower and not have scalping issues and return to a vibrant green color?

      @rey3472 7 років тому

      It can be done provided you keep the blade razor sharp before each mowing, ground has to be countertop flat, and you need to mow such that very little height is taken off at each mowing. If you are willing to do all of this religiously, it can work. Otherwise, a reel mower will be easier to manage.

    My front lawn has a. Tree and it's roots are showing above grass. Also the grass is super thin and badly grows. I live in Wisconsin. What should i do?

    • @jordanroberts1519
      @jordanroberts1519 7 років тому

      KumarHD make a mulch ring would be easiest. Hard to get grass to grow under trees as roots are in constant competition. Roots showing also hurts that possibility.
