Very entertaining. Your blind work Cath made me laugh out loud. It’s happened to us all. Love your DIY skills and the 4x2 resting ready for your future woodworking project.
A tip regarding the blinds. We replaced all our curtains with blinds a while back now, and found that if you wind them onto the roller the other way round it moves the blind about an inch or so towards the window, which gives you just a little more room, especially useful in the corridor area! Loved the bit where the connector flew off and got lost! So like me!!😆 Stay safe and stay well!👍
Thank you for your homey weekly videos. John and I look forward to seeing what you are up to each week. During this lockdown, it was especially appreciated! Instant potato flakes and canned salmon ( bleack) sounds so awful, but I am glad it made a decent meal for you. I cook tons of amazing food from many different cultures for both us and another young family that is struggling. The young mom was a good friend to one of my daughter’s throughout school and was here a whole lot! Such a Delightful, creative child, with less than able parents. She now has 3 under three and an 8 year old, trying to be the most amazing mom ever! I am happy to cook them 5 to 7 meals each week. I also cook for a sister in an retirement center and often for one or two of my (3) children and their family’s. John and I (and Charlie our 14 y/o mini poodle) absolutely loved the video you recommended - windows? It was our church service for Easter! Thank you so much for being there for us. Please remember us if you decide to visit Seattle Washington, in the awful USA. We would love to put you up, feed you, be tour guides etc. We are so lucky to live in one of the most beautiful and unique places on earth.
Great to see your vlog today. This is perfect and fun to watch. Smash cakes ! Thank you so much, as always. I see you like The Sound of Music. That is a wonderful movie and we sing those songs to this day. I am making instant potatoes today with butter. And tuna sandwiches.
Brownie! Not a fan of fish....... My partner Tom and I, along with Alex and Shadow (the cats that rule the house) love you both! Glad you spared the egg for a sweet treat. We just spent 4 days isolated in the Maine woods (thanks to 18 inches of snow) with no electric or running water - thanks to a freakish April snow. Happy to start catching up again with the world!
Thank you so much for your delightful and informational videos. I do look forward to your new postings, I have been a viewer since Ewart and when you first moved aboard. Take care, be safe and tickle the kiddies for me.
Hi ladies, thanks for first making me actually laugh out loud with tea, when the blind flopped round !! Second, hopefully to make you smile - we also have no eggs - which is ironic as we actually rescue hens! Sadly our ladies are all too old or too hot to lay! Be safe and be well xx
Thanks for the update, I’m glad to see you’re both still safe and well. Well done for saving that egg, we’re also stretching everything out at the moment so I don’t have to visit the supermarket very often. Luckily we have plenty of eggs in our family because my dad has 40 hens but I appreciate that would be tricky on a NB! It’s about 30 years since I had smash but I remember with a bit of butter mashed in it was OK so good idea for buying that. Take care and stay safe.
I was cracking up when she fixed the blind. LOL! That was a good laugh. Oh, I just subscribed too. I found your channel from Cruising the Cut's video crossing the aqueduct. I'm happy to have discovered all these wonderful narrowboat videos. We have nothing like this here in Texas & I'd absolutely love living like this. If I can ever convince my wife to cross an ocean to visit the UK, we'll have to go on a grand adventure on one of these. I'm sure you get to see parts of the country that most people will never see.
Back 40 years ago I was living alone in a furnished room on a very limited income, I got a popcorn maker and starting just living on popcorn for almost 6 months lol. It was very cheap! If you like fresh popped buttered popcorn it wasn't actually a bad way to live lol
When I went winter camping with a dog team powdered ‘taters were used a bunch. Needed to eat half a stick of butter in the meal per person each night to stay warm especially if went to -40F/C. We also had chocolate covered doughnuts warmed under the little tin wood stove. Glad I have a big cellar with a bin of ‘taters left from the garden last summer.
Thank you both for making your vlogs. We look forward to each one. My husband and I live in Raleigh NC and are not boaters but live the life through you and other narrowboat vlogers. We have 2 cats Gracie and Smokey and will try to send pics of them. They rule our landlocked boat. Stay safe
Glad to hear you are both staying safe and sane. Part of my inheritance was 5 thousand acres of land in the Blue Ridge Mountains so my social distancing has been exploring and camping with my Rottweiler "Pepper". Not a sign of civilization for a fortnight, absolute heaven. Stay safe.
Great video as usual. I like how you're interacting with the other boat tubers. I do enjoy seeing how well everyone gets along with each other and enjoys doing the crossover videos. One last thing. If it is a choice between salmon patties or brownies for goodness sakes choose the browies!!!!
They are not pets, but hummingbirds are back in Northern New Mexico, USA. So lovely to watch. Good thing I already had purchased sugar for their feeder fluid. You both appear to be doing well. Remember to try and keep your senses of humor. Cheers.
I knew you both had good taste when I spotted the picture of my hometown ,Worsley Village in the background. Spent many happy days around there in the past. Take care...!!
Watching the sunset from the roof makes me remember The Drifters in 'Up on The Roof' When this old world starts getting me down And people are just too much for me to face
Heya I'm a new subscriber! I have loved binge watching your channel over the last few days, thank you for allowing me to day dream about buying a narrowboat while I am stuck inside! I really appreciate what you guys are doing and hope that you are all well. I am staying at my SO's and am missing mine (don't worry they live with my mum as I am a student) so have loved watching your cat's adventures as well.
Thank you for sharing this video. I’ve become a bit stir crazy and your videos help me to see the world without leaving my home. I live in Canada, but the thought of narrowboat life has been attractive to me for a couple of years. I was voting brownie, so I am glad the egg was saved for the brownie!! Thanks for the video!
I’m in Canada, I had to look up what “smash” was... we have instant potatoes here too but they tend to be more like flakes rather than powder... glad the fish cakes turned out half decent... I often make canned fish cakes as well, served with peas on the side usually. A quick lemony white sauce is very good on the top... butter, flour roux... bit of milk until thick and add zest and some juice of a lemon after its thickened...
I very much love watching your daily news. It must be hard where you choose a life of such freedom to be “locked down”, even the word lock down, brrrrr 🥶. Thanks for sharing and take care.
A great thing to pass time during what we call lock down is to do some creative cooking. My wife has let me do the cooking and it is not easy to be creative and tasteful at same time but I spend many doing this . Our lock down will be till beginning of May at least. I enjoy your videos
Hope you find/found the missing bit. Lovely vlog, really enjoyed the "ration cooking" segment. Amazing what one can cook up with only a few cupboard basics.....like folk did years ago, but seems a lost art now days. I was very impressed...:) Enjoyed your vlog as usual, thank you...Cheers.
Just sitting down to a morning cuppa and my first "notification" EVER. :) "Gross-blind" repair plans very clever; egg-saving the salmon cakes, too. Happy Easter, you dear women, Happy Spring.
Happy Easter! Enjoying the vlogs as always, especially the ones with guests. We're on day 31 of sheltering in/ stay at home here in South Carolina. Stay safe and healthy!
Thanks for the tip Re potato flakes, I don’t use eggs, so making things stick together is a challenge sometimes. The well-being tips too, you’re always looking busy, so I guess that is a big help?
That potato tastes good if you put the onion and some herbs in the dish mix it all together make them into a potato cake then fry them lightly in the pan they are lovely:))
Nuts to politics! Lovely to see you two again. I just finished watching The Narrowboat Chef and their oatmeal burgers, so you should swap recipes. Stay well. John, Ontario, Canada.
It’s probably too late now, but the local village corner shop is probably the best place to get eggs! Our village shop has a plentiful supply of eggs, because they come from a farm just up the lane!
I'm not sure I've ever eaten Smash before either - but I do remember a slogan from one of their TV ads back in the 70's "For mash get Smash" !! Oh the weird stuff in the distant recesses of my grey cells !! 😱😎👍👍
Instant potatoes. Shudder! My brother fed me Smash and fish fingers for three weeks while our parents were away. It was the only he could cook. Lol. Yay for the ehh for the brownies. Hugs
I would definitely go with the salmon cakes because that would be more nourishing for me. I would probably mix up the brownies anyway so I could have the best of both😋
Just saying hello to you both day 29 locked in for us we are lucky enough to have a home delivery supermarket where we live I am an introvert so being locked in doesn't faze me big hugs stay safe and hope your Easter was lovely:)))
Hi girls; love your vlogs, keep up the good work. I make “fish cakes” out of anything, and they’re great. Mince up any leftover meat, add fine chopped vegetables (green or red pepper and green onion tops) and fry in butter just like the fish cakes. If you have eggs, fry one and serve on top. Great for breakfast or dinner. I’m going to try it with instant mashed potatoes.
If you like spaghetti, consider stocking up on it. It is very shelf stable, a box of noodles doesn't take up much space, and you can be pretty creative on the sauces you put on it (tomato, Alfredo, chili, etc.). If you think boiling it is too water intensive, you can cook a bunch of it ahead of time (like before filling up on water) and keep leftovers in the fridge for several days (if you have room). By the way, I like your spice rack! It looks like you have a wide range of spices available.
Hi Girls Happy Easter - we've got those roller blinds fitted so the fabric falls to the inside of the roller, which I think makes a neater job with less of a gap at the sides especially near the top. BUT - maybe your way is right? Keep safe - loving the vlogs Ki & Kaz xx hugs
Just a small suggestion which I know someone will like but the other will say no way - hooks that you can fit a bike onto on the wall in the dinette for all those bits of wood that are too long for your workshop :)
The smash cakes looked good, but defiantly should have gone with the brownies. Kath as usual you made me laugh today, especially the work room blind, closly followed by the massive plank of wood in the way just in case you can think of a project to use it on, instead of which its your Yoga plank, bending, ducking and stretching around it. lol :)
To replace an egg, I used 1 tablespoon of chia seeds mixed with 3 tablespoons of water and let the mixture sit for 15 to 20 minutes or you can prepare it the night before. Mix the chia seeds and water together in a small bowl and let it sit for 10 - 15 minutes until the mixture becomes gel. Chia seeds are shelf stable and great for you. Great for baking .
Thanks for the tip. We will look into getting some of those. I used chickpea flour instead of eggs when I made pancakes the other day and was surprised at how well they turned out.
That blind installation! Laughing, laughing, laughing! Thank you soooo much. I neeeeeded that!
Very entertaining. Your blind work Cath made me laugh out loud. It’s happened to us all. Love your DIY skills and the 4x2 resting ready for your future woodworking project.
I’ve really enjoyed all your videos since the crisis began. Thanks for including us in your daily tasks and lives. Best wishes from Georgia USA.
Thank you very much for doing these videos. They are a welcome distraction from the chaos here in New Jersey.. Stay healthy!
You two are a delightful hoot. I can always count on a smile and a chuckle when watching your videos
Thanks for the vlog, dears! My goodness, what a sunset!
Nice to watch you both takes your mind off the present situation for a while .stay safe and well ladies

It sounds like you do a lot of cooking. We are always looking for new things to try so would love to see some of your recipes.
Thank you for sharing your time with us. It helps me feel connected while in our confinement.
amazing how you can entertain even though you are restricted. Thank you
That trial run of Kath's blind was a hoot! :D
Always good to spend a bit of time with you girls.
Great to see you both in good spirits and keeping well
Please forgive me but I laughed my socks off at Cath's blind fixing method, stay safe x x
You did exactly as was intended!

That was an enjoyable video with some funny scenes. Jasmin is fab. I love your T shirt Annamarie.
Thanks x
Good to see you two!
It was very good to see you girls. I missed your videos.
Thanks for the beautiful sunset. I would have chosen the salmon and smash patties! Glad you can still have your brownies. Deb...Oz
Great to see your keeping well
Another good one ladies, thank you.

We are hoping there will be eggs next visit. None at the moment. However, we have been using chickpea flower as a substitute. It is very effective.
That’s my daily dose of putting a smile on my face in these strange times :)
Oooo.. Caths got a shed..fantastic..great vlog ..great fish cake idea....but when you opened the salmon were you inundated with cats...would be here
Thank you ladies for sharing this with me !
Gorgeous sunset! Stay safe and healthy!
Another great vlog by 2 lovely ladies. Stay safe and sane.

Nice catching up with you girls and I will check out Jasmines channel. Glad you got to keep the egg for future brownies Kathy 😁
I grew up on smash, can't believe they still make it. I still remember the adverts on TV "For mash get Smash"
Followed by the manic robot laughter - great memories!
Thank you for sharing this video. I’ve become a bit stir crazy and your videos help me to see the world without leaving my home. This vid will now forever be remembered as the Smash Blind Fiasco! Oh I chuckled. Keep healthy and happy girls 😷

You could add butter & pepper to the smash, livens it up a bit. Cool video. 👍👍
Great vlog ladies. Keep smiling and stay safe. Great sunset.
Happy Easter ladies and stay healthy and sane. We will all make it through these tough times.
I very much love watching your daily news. It must be hard where you choose a life of such freedom to be “locked down”, even the word lock down, brrrrr 🥶. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Hello, just wanted to thank you for all the content, hope you are both well x
Kath you done a great job in the end! It did make me laugh while you done it though.... Thankyou ❤️
Happy Easter, Ladies.

Brilliant vlog. Hope you had a rewarding Easter with lots of duck eggs? He he Take care and be safe.
Wonderful combo.
I love you two. You take my mind off as to how bad it is here in the USA.
Stay safe and well ladies. Much love.
Hope you find/found the missing bit.

I did find it but then I lost it again. It will turn up eventually I’m sure...

Chocolate Brownie. Always Chocolate Brownie!!! 😎

Looks like the work room needs some work! Good you have lots of isolation time to rearrange it. Enjoy the challenge 👍✌️😊🙏🏼⚒⚒⚒
It does need a little bit of a tidy up...
Oh, you two are perfect as you are! Many thanks for inviting us to join you in your beautiful, and Loving, home. I enjoyed every minute! 💕
Nuts to politics! Lovely to see you two again. I just finished watching The Narrowboat Chef and their oatmeal burgers, so you should swap recipes. Stay well.

Brownies of course... Not a huge salmon fan too much... I do love the lemon or lime squirted on it though...

I would have made the brownie. You are better than I am! Love your videos

Hi Girls Happy Easter - we've got those roller blinds fitted so the fabric falls to the inside of the roller, which I think makes a neater job with less of a gap at the sides especially near the top.
BUT - maybe your way is right? Keep safe - loving the vlogs

Happy Easter Annamarie and Kath not forgetting pussykins , stay safe xxx
Happy easter to you too
Salmon fish cakes or chocolate brownie? No contest, brownie wins hands down!!
Oh wow my Bees on your video 😊😊🐝🐝🐝🐝 thank you so much 😊
Just a small suggestion which I know someone will like but the other will say no way - hooks that you can fit a bike onto on the wall in the dinette for all those bits of wood that are too long for your workshop :)

Hiya. See, I'm weird; my first thought was Salmon Brownies! All the best to you.
Yuk!!
To replace an egg, I used 1 tablespoon of chia seeds mixed with 3 tablespoons of water and let the mixture sit for 15 to 20 minutes or you can prepare it the night before.
