I have a paralyzing ADHD problem that keeps me from getting anything done ever. Your tips on how to approach painting full armies has helped me to paint a complete unit. I started by making a plan with test models. I then timed myself painting that scheme with decent speed, worrying less about the mistakes and more about a finished unit. I hope to have a full army soon. Thank you for all you do. It's helped me immensely.
This was actually funny to read, because me too.. I've got 2100 points of necrons, and i've got about 30% painted, even have some models that aren't even assembled yet, and haven't been for a month. Some are assembled but not primed, some are assembled and primed, not painted, and my doom scythe is only half painted.. It really sucks
@@eBayMiniatureRescues yeah take motivation advice from the guy with jowls. Why anyone wants Jabba the Hutt to tell em how to paint is beyond my understanding
Yeah it can be a turn off for people to go to ebay when they see a model that well looks in bits or terrible but its just heavy paint and comes off easy enough :-) good way to show it off to people it can be done with no issues.
MY GOD MAN........ Phenomenal Job. Your rescue vids have actually helped me complete armies i have built. I have even taken your rescue tips a bit further. I Rescued a COMPLETE trash super thick painted black templar land raider and REALLY made an over the top converted Tsons Achillies Pattern out of it... i love these video and tips, ive just gotten into 40k and its way to much fun. I just bought my first fire warrior team and battle suit. it really clear how this can put a whole in your pocket
Sure, the glamour shots at the end are nice, but I get more out of the process. You are really pushing me to think differently about how much detail I include on a model, and what sort of time scale I set for myself to build it. Rescuing old model trains is a little different, but getting bogged down and losing inspiration half-way through a build because I set my personal bar too high is the same no matter what the hobby is. Besides, I can always go back later and add more or refine the model further. Thanks!😀
I've got Eternals , cadian and necrons to finish but as I dont play I just add to my to paint collection, your video is a great help as I'm easily distracted by the depression monsters, thanks for the tips and boost to actually finish a box, took me a year just to do and finish 11 gretchins.

I just bought a 21 figure Deathwatch lot for $55. I have this idea of painting up Talon Squad from the Deathwatch book. The rest are a going to be fun getting creative with. I already finished my Chyron, the last Lamentor, ven dread. Rescuing models are fun
I like the idea of Nagash using some kind of blood magic, especially if he made vampires too....pretty sure what was him lol. EITHER WAY, Red is a good look on him :)
Those came out great! I'll have to save the video for future reference as there was a few things that I would like to give a try, including the oil washes, but I hadn't considered using the static grass for my minis as well as the model railway projects. It'll all have to wait until the new year though as everything is boxed up ready for moving house at some point soon. But in the meantime I'm collecting a few playlists of useful videos which will be a great reference when we can get back to modelling.
picked up 2.5k points of space wolves, including a storm-fang about 6 months ago, most did not need stripping (I got them plastic because I don't have a sonic cleaner) and the stormfang is totally going to be on display between games once it is done, with a custom base
Killer results (and great video), Casey! But I wanted to see that big static grass applicator in action a bit more clearly/closely - looks really interesting.
Thanks man, I’ll definitely get more glamour shots of the static grass next time. I need to get longer grass though, it’s hard to see it doing anything with the tiny 2 mil grass. The results are still pretty sweet though, totally worth getting an applicator!
Mig and ak interactive both have a product called streaking grime, which is really just a brown enamel wash. They absolutely stink, I run fans, have windows open, and a mask when I use them through the airbrush, with a paintbrush it’s not overwhelming, fortunately. But you can still smell the enamels. Totally worth it though.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues thank you for the info and reply! I wasn’t sure if you were using streaking grime specifically or another shade in their range. The naval one looks cool for a red undertone (for my big orruk beasties maybe).
Yeah, I'm working through building some Bladegeist Revenants which are a nightmare to put together. I'm trying to keep motivated by planning to reward myself with building the Mortis Engine when I'm done. Nice single bigger model, and it's an older kit so should be much easier to build. Thankfully I already have my Nighthaunt scheme planned out and it's only like 6 paints, thanks to my CC Death Elemental/Mourngul that kicked it off. So once I finish building those I just have to strip some preowned Hexwraiths and then prime everything together.

I’ve definitely had the same issue with this ink, washes, contrast paints. Any kind of water based paint really tears up the ink. I let it sit overnight if I plan on using that stuff with a brush. I haven’t had any issues with enamels though, probably because it doesn’t interact with the ink in the same way water does. Still. It never hurts to use a varnish before using any other products over the white ink, that or let it sit overnight to let it fully cure.
I keep my psi around 25-30. If you are using super thin paints like Golden High flow, or inks, you can usually go down to 15-20 to get a little more control, otherwise its just about practicing that trigger control and just getting better at putting the paint where you want it.
Where did you purchase the static grass applicator from and do you consider it a good purchase? I’ve tried applied static grass by hand and it always feels weird/looks sloppy so I’m considering one
What were the brown enamels you used to coat the minis with? I'm definitely interested in creating this sort of effect on some of my minis. Is there a line of enamel paints you would recommend?

The entire army looks like an alt colour for a character in a game, compared to the colors you see on GW's website. Love the look!
Casey do you varnish after the white ink or mix some varnish with the ink? If not how do you stop the contrast paint from reactivating the ink?

The more I see from the Bonereapers, the more conficed I'm that these are the concept of "Chaossigmarines" in AoS.

Absolutely, it takes longer of course, but it’s totally doable!
What's that stuff you use for gluing down the cork to the big guys base?
