You can also use 2pts Golden soft gel gloss mixed with 1 pt water as an isolation coat. That’s what Golden recommended before they released their pre-mixed version. Just fyi 😊
Thank you Barb
Hello, Cathleen. After watching this video I realized how much I 've learned from you about varnishing. I am very happy now and not afraid of trying it on my acrylic pours and brush paintings. I'm subscribed now. Thank you soooooo much!!!
Thank you so much! Don’t be afraid of anything Gauchatierna I use to hate varnishing. I love it now. It makes everything more beautiful
Thank you so much Cathleen 🥰
Thank you so much for this video, great information. Your art is so beautiful. Have a great evening!! 😊💖👏👏
Great video, Cathleen! I would love to resin, but I live in the country. There is so much floatsom in the air I would be there forever picking out dustbunnies forever😮😉. I hold my breath too...bad habit.😊🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇
Thank you for sharing this video with us its very helpfull 👏 👏 👏
Thank you for this tutorial. Very much appreciated 😊
Great refresh video. You know what i’ll do? I’ll make myself sample mini canvases of all the different varnish I use. Matte, satin, gloss…
I love this idea!
Merci pour tous ces précieux conseils .
Always love your finishing !! 💕🐷💕
This was so awesome! I greatly appreciate all that you covered! Its info I greatly needed since I am a new artist and had no idea about other ways to finish my paintings other than resin! And i love this satin finish!!!
Hello Leette and thank you. Reach out if I can ever answer a question for you.
That is a wonderful tutorial! So grateful for you gal😃 can’t wait to try it.
Same back at ya Jo
Very very well explained. Thank you so much😉
The high gloss one looks like resin!
Very educational, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was extremely helpful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Ein sehr informatives Video. Das meiste habe ich verstanden. 😅 Vielen Dank dafür... Seit langer Zeit verfolge ich deine Videos. Ich mag die Bilder sehr. Thanks. 😊 pouring_gabi...
Thank you for putting this video out very helpful
Interesting process, thanks for sharing how u varnish. I'm like you, I don't care for the shine...gotta get some satin varnish. I always use gloss but some paintings it definitely takes away from the painting so thanks for the Satin tip!!!
This is an extremely informative lesson, thanks!
Thank you for sharing !
Good to see how you varnish your paintings. Thanks for sharing Cathleen ❤️😀
Absolutely very informative video. Actually very nice and creative project. I like this video. Keep up the amazing work
Great info 👍
Excellent information!
Thank you that was very informative ❤❤❤
Informative video. Thank you for showing us this technique. ❤
Dziękuję za informacje. Bardzo przydatne informacje. Ja na próbę kupiłam werniks glass firmy Amsterdam w spreju. Zobaczę jak wyjdzie gdy obrazy wyschną. Serdecznie pozdrawiam😘💕
I like a gloss varnish on most of my Dutch pours but always seem to prefer a satin finish on my swipes. Haven’t worked with resin yet.
very nice 💖💖💖 new subscriber
I love watching you! You just make my day and your paintings are gorgeous! I have a question: where do you get your frames for your paintings? I love this frame! Thank you and I hope to come to one of your classes in the future. I currently live in Germany, so things are a little logistically difficult. 😁
Hello “Z” its nice to meet you. I get my frames from several places. Jerrysartarama, blicks, canvasplace.com
Ty for this video.. I have no clue on how to open these picnic tents.. I broke two lol
Lol. Just pull girl

First, Congratulations on your up coming marriage, Cathleen!! I'm so happy for you! Hope you'll show us a few pics of the big day. Thank you for this video. I learned a lot. Also, I'm crushed my budget won't let me go to pourcon this year. Any chance this might become an annual event?
Pat thank you. I hope so
Thank you for making this video - it's super helpful! When you varnish a larger picture, do you have any issues with the varnish you've drizzled at the beginning starting to dry or getting sticky before you get to the end? If so, how do you handle that?
Rachel I do not. I tend to put down a bit more then I need. Then slowly brush the excess off. Hope that helps
Hi Cathleen, have you ever used liquitex Satin Spray varnish instead of the liquid so you can give me your opinion or if you could recommend any other satin spray varnish that you have used that you liked the results? Thanks!
Sabrina i have not. I have used the Kryon. I am partial to the liquid varnish from Liquitex. Love the finish.

Do you use isolation coat when resin
Yes Isolation coat first
Thank you! I needed that. I just finished a huge 40 x 40 piece and have a gloss varnish on it. Turns out, the wall I have it on gets too much natural light and all I can see is a big shiny blob! Do you think I could put a Matt varnish on top? Would that calm the glare down?
Dana i would start with the satin varnish. Then if its still to bright go with the Matt the satin varnish has a matting agent in it.
@@COZCreationsArt thank you!
I find it’s harder on a big painting than when you do it on a small painting it’s a little bit easier I find that the varnish dries rather quickly …if you’re doing a rather big painting……. so on a bigger painting do you put a little at a time and then work up or down the painting with the varnish …. rather than putting all the varnish around? I hope you get my drift? Thanks in advance🙏
I do a little at a time. Much easier that way.
Great video. I tried the Golden Isolation after watching your other varnishing video but when i applied it the paint bleeds on the brush (not sure bleeding is right term). Couldn't figure out what i was doing wrong. Other artists say to use a spray Kamar especially if paint has pigments. I would rather use Goldens because i live in an apartment so want to use sonething without a strong order. Any advice is appreciated.
Good to know.
I have only gotten bleeding when I also used acrylic pens to embellish Marj
Do you suggest a heat gun or a torch to do this and also help cell creating for pouring? What brand?
I like both but invested in an electric heat gun simply so that I don't have to keep getting butane refills. I find it works just fine.
I use both Charlene
Omg coz!!! I bought those and they shed all over my art and because the bristles are clear I missed it!! Ruined two large pieces!!! Be careful!!!
Joanne what shedded all over your art
@@COZCreationsArt I think she means the brush you use to varnish with. I'm guessing you've had no shedding issues with the brushes you've bought, Cathleen? It's a good point to make though...some inexpensive brushes do shed quite badly.
@@COZCreationsArt the bristles. And because they are clear I missed it till the piece was dry😱. Fortunately the resin covered all of it but i had not intended to resin that piece.
