One point that you missed is that Scrooge didn't immediately go and get rich in the Klondike gold rush. He wandered the word for nearly 20 years before he finally struck rich in Klondike. I think that's an important part about his journey, since it establishes how Scrooge didn't just get lucky, but made his fortune through hard work and never giving up.
One of the best things about life and times is that it's not just about the riches Scrooge accquires. As he himself says, he spent 20 long years after he first left Scotland searching for a way to become rich until he found his first wealth in White Agony Creek.
Friend of mines parents filled their above ground lap pool up with gold chocolate coins for their birthday. The pictures I saw were great. The even sent all the kids and their parents home with money bags filled with the same coins. He brought a few to school to share with every one! That was so cool.
I had some idea how he made all his money, having read at least 3 of the comics, but this definitely helped fill a few gaps! I also have a few suggestions on videos to do in the future: Anastasia, Bartok, Sing (haven't actually seen the movie yet but it definitely looks like something you could do a theory vid on, perhaps how it may connect with Zootopia?)
Could have gone more into depth with the Life and Times storyline there, it's actually super interesting... For example, the very first thing he did in America was sail a riverboat with his uncle on the Mississippi. There's also the time he was chasing bandits in the badlands with Theodore Roosevelt... Or his time in Africa where he was infamous for taming lions and using them as his primary mode of transportation
Small objection - Scrooge's problem with the dime wasn't that it was a piddly amount of money. Rather, he took exception to the payment because an American dime was all but unusable in 19th-century Glasgow. Not knowing that his father was behind it, he felt that he'd been stiffed.
Yeah, except he worked for all this money, expecting no help. Now people (in general, yes there are exceptions) tend to just expect the world handed to them on a silver platter, whether they are immigrants or not, people expect to be given whatever they want, whenever they want.

During the that last issue before he became the billionaire, he became over protective of his fortune, bad tempered, foul mouthed and cynical towards people including his own family. There has been a few dark moments in the comics which show how Scrooge made his fortune and survived in a world of greedy corrupt people trying to steal his money.

Yup. And one of those natives from the village he destroyed sent the original Bombi the Zombi to get Scrooge. The original Bombi was not hunting 'The Richest Duck'; it was after Scrooge, specifically.
In the US and Canada they are releasing something called "Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: The Don Rosa Library" They are worth their weight in gold, especially the "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" and several(all) other stories after that. I Love Good Old Scrooge McDuck,&,if I Could Buy Anything in The World,It'd be Xan's Diner,a Retro 50s Diner That my Mom,Dad,Sisters,&,Myself Used to go to When I Was a Little Kid
Scrooge McDuck is my favorite character from the Duck universe. A true entrepreneur and a great role model. He´ll be celebrating his 70th birthday this year!
I like McDuck as one of my personal favorites since "Mickey's Christmas Carol". His drive to work hard and not settle for anything less than what's fair is admirable, to say the least. If I had his type of fortune, I'd help out my family and friends and benefit the world before I settle down in a mansion at Golden Oak at Walt Disney World.
Yeah, it's my dream to become rich enough to not only have a nice house like that and help my family, but also if like to use my money to help out needy people... and also go on a lot of adventures like scrooge lol
I love Scrooge McDuck. I had watched Duck Tales and a Christmas Carol as a kid. I never knew how he made his fortune though. This was a really interesting video 👍 As for what I would buy: a huge house for my mom, an art studio for myself and Six Flags!
Well that's true too. He wasn't a very conspicuous spender. He saved his money and was willing to do whatever it took to earn more. Thanks for watching!
To avoid AR Cs problem, you should consider building a nonprofit transition housing system that you own and keep. The best way for it to work would be if you started a property management and construction firm, whose sole purpose was to build, maintain and offer studio sized properties to impoverished people as a transitioning house. Install a form of voluntary rent, where each month you ask for a chunk of cash, which at the end of their time with your business, will all at once be given back to them to use to buy a property of their own. Successfully transitioning the homeless and impoverished up to the low-middle class. You could work alongside career advisor groups to help find these people good work to do and build up their resumes. I know of a few places in San Francisco which do this with apartments but I haven't seen one who purpose builds places. I think it may be overall cheaper in the long term to maintain, though I have nothing to back that up other than basic property costs. You can get some initial money together to buy some acre of land and build a small place on it for maybe, what.. 50k maybe? More research will be needed from your local area land and material costs. A home equity loan might cover it if you own a place. Otherwise you'll need to try and fish around for a philanthropic investor, which will be easier to find in the city if you're there. Just need to know where to look. I can probably pull up a few books on finding and talking to investors if you're interested in pressing. The majority of your business model will be built on the back of donations from those who want to help from what I know of similar projects. However it is very possible. Capitalism tends to reward those who help others.
There's a A LOT of information missing here -His time as the Mississippi king -The silver mine he had for a moment -That time he was a cowboy where he was known as Buck among other things
I wanna thank Tuomas Holopainen for making an album that turns Scrooge's life into a fantastical adventure and making the American Dream a beautiful opportunity
Scrooge McDuck is where my love of accents came from. It wasn't till I was older that I learned his voice was different because he's Scottish, but by that time my own "Scottish" accent was basically a rendition of his accent. Made me sad when I learned Alan Young died. Although I am excited to see how David Tennant will take on the aging, lovable, selfish bagillionaire.
Have you ever done a video on Wart/King Arthur? He's one of my favorite overlooked Disney characters. Unfortunately I haven't formulated any theories about him yet...
In Europe, they have released a series of collection which is called "Hall of Fame" specific to Disney author, in which several volumes are dedicated to Don Rosa stories. However they are making an English series of compendiums which goes under. "Walt Disney Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: The Don Rosa Library " There are several volums allready released and more to come.
I was also so curious about him. If he's so rich, why was it that in some shows/ movies he did not appear so? in some movies /shows he appeared in, he was not in his big beautiful mansion, he is in an entirely different house.
In my country, there was a satiric short story "Scrooge McDuck's Death" explaining Scrooge's wealth comes from his business and political role in Duckburg. Check "Kematian Paman Gober" on Google (in Indonesia, Gober is name for Scrooge, from Dagobert in Germany and Netherlands) The story itself explained about Indonesian politics, people hoping for Soeharto's death. Lack of freedom of speech made the creator had to make it into a Scrooge fanfiction
HORRIOR He was also punished by it since one of the survivors casted a curse which would make him being followed around by a ghost or something like that
When I would read The Duck Stories by Carl Barks, and in modern days by Don Rosa, to my kids, I would impress upon them how Scrooge comes to realize that family is the most important thing, even more so than money. When it comes down to it, he'll sacrifice for them. But that's not all. When someone has been loyal to him, he will return the loyalty and put their lives above his fortune (see North of the Yukon). And more, when he has inadvertently caused a misfortune, he will sacrifice his own well being to make things right (I don't remember the title, but in a space adventure, he accidentally drove away the only food supply of an aboriginal tribe, so he sacrificed a huge chunk of fortune to arrange for them to reach a plentiful land they could only see but were never able to reach before).
A question to you who is reading this: I am curious. Scrooge McDuck and his nephews are called different names all over the world. How are they called in your country? In Germany Scrooge is Dagobert Duck and his Nephews are Tick, Trick and Track.

I always wondered how Scrooge McDuck made his billions. Very nice theory. And yes, I like the way he thinks.

Can you so a theory about how Riley from Inside out is Bonnie's (from Toy Story 3) big sister
Interesting idea. I will have to look into that one. Thanks for watching!

His name is Dagobert Duck in Germany
He treasure hunts and invests in business, factories, diamond mines, gold mines. etc
