Watching zep go through the stages of grief in this was entertaining. denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance. The world is large, little zepla, and full of wonders.
My tip: You can rearrange the order of your retainers. There is a gear icon in the upper right corner of the retainer window. I know about this one BECAUSE THIS WAS MY PERSONAL REQUEST ON THE UI SECTION OF THE OFFICIAL FORUMS AND THE MAD LADS DID IT.
The funny thing is that it flat out TELLS you about the HQ / NQ item bind (the aetherite thing is really usefull tho) edit: theres also SO much more that this video doesnt even tell you, a million small QOL things that they add silentlly without talking about them. but once you know about them are all SUPER usefull, i wish they would talk about them more lol
CTRL shows the difference between high and normal quality anything. Not just food/potions. You can use it to quickly see the difference between a high and normal quality piece of gear :)
My FC had done some extreme trials together, and got in a new group of savage raiders (I was also new). Both groups were surprised when I would say "nature's minne is on ", I'd have to explain so many times what it does. I don't usually use it in normal content, unless a healer or tank is really struggling. Mentioning warden's paean reminded me of this XD The amount of panic when a healer can't get doom off, so I say "I got it" and the utter confusion that follows is great lol. If you don't know, Nature's Minne is a buff a bard can put on another player. It recovers that player's health by an extra 20% via healing actions. So each heal is 20% stronger for 15 seconds. Some of my friends keep thinking that it's like a regen and they stop healing, absolute chaos that I love watching the tank (my brother) die. I made a macro to say it was on someone and added "don't stop healing, hold on to that feeling", but I only use it with my friends.
Some of them are stated in easy to see places, like the item quality trick, which is stated in text hovering at the bottom of every item tooltip. I died laughing when she realized that xD
It's still useful in certain situations though, like when you are fate grinding and are zoomed out on your map waiting for fates to spawn and the aetheryte is blocked by merchant and/or mender symbols.
The only thing I didn't know with the control key was the shifting pov up and down, everything else I knew. Also surprised Zeppelin didn't notice that on item that can be hq has some writing that says press (key) to see hq or normal. That bit actually got me into looking at consumables like hq food giving more buff and the cd timer for potions and the likes.
12:07 It would of been more useful if they talked about cancelling the LB3 animation lock. You have to use Rescue after the cast though, otherwise it will cancel the LB and waste more time instead.
This is a myth. You can not cancel LB animation lock through a rescue. You can move them yes, and save them if an AoE happens to spawn on them, however this does nothing to their animation lock. They will still be unable to move or act for the same amount of time as usual.
This was so funny, golden content! The camera angle with the arrows is so useful, knew it since i was a sprout in heavensward i think xD SO good as a lalafell player :D and on certain bosses :D me and my friend im teaching the game a bit, yesterday found out about the HQ food with control by accident xD the tings you dont know lol
As I posted on his video a little while ago: Caveat to the transcendence buff. It is NOT a catch-all immunity. Any incoming mechanic that a tank invuln cannot save a tank from will also affect someone under transcendence. Some raidwides in Savage do this, as well as knockbacks(as KB's don't do damage. :3)
You can drag and drop items from your crafting log onto your action bar for easy access to the location of that item in your crafting log. This is very useful for dyes.
@@starlitghost Oh yeah, I've definitely used the slider. I was just wondering if there's a way to use it quickly without going through all of the menus

That thing about debuffs pointing down and buffs pointing up is something I noticed right away as a sprout because they do the exact same thing in GW2 :D
as a SCH main since 2.0.. yes, you have to know the chart. This is why you don't generally want two shield healers in an 8-man, it's confusing AF on which shields work / overwrite what.
some more weird mechanics: If you lower your fps you can walk off a cliff and you only fall on the next frame. Queued actions only activate on the next frame, making a low end gpu a dps loss. Ground aoes tick based of a timmer from when the instanced was created, hots and dots tick based on when the entity they are on was spawned in. Every frame you cast an action you tell the server you haven't moved, when you more to soon before the end of you cast the server tells your client to stop the cast, this can end up with you slide casting one spell canceling the next spell that you haven't moved during.
What's funny about using CTRL to show normal/HQ of an item is that it literally says you can do that at the bottom of the tool tip window and people still don't figure it out. Been doing it since I was a sprout because I guess I'm weird in that I read things.
@@IncIceronix lets say youre level 85, but you get a dungeon synced to level 70. food buff, FC bufff. and the earrings all stack. similar for the items for low levels like the level 30 item i forget what its called. say youre above level 30, the game drops you into halitali. or something. you put the ring on and you benifit
For shield healing, your tool tips already tell you what stacks and doesn't stack so you already get in the habit of which spells stack or don't. So yes, technically you can run into a problem like a shield timer coming close to a mechanic, but most healers will have a stackable shield/spell ready for that moment. Really for Shield mages, its like just like 2 or 4 shields that won't stack a certain way (usually just their single vs aoe counterpart and cross role equivalent). You will still have another 3 or more shield abilities waiting in the wings. Plus in higher content, that shield you may or may not be worrying about will probably have been spent anyways plus you'll have coordinated either verbally or just watching who had casted what. So in moments of refreshing, unless you are overhealing and spamming, the situation mentioned in the video usually isn't a problem. Also the LB is thing is similar to you self canceling it by moving. It will work til the cast bar finishes.
i just started playing this game 2 weeks ago and i figured out most of these things on my own.. no shot u put years into this game and didnt know until this video
wow, all of it i discovered by accident during Hunt train :D (always have my map on, and some abilities with ctrl+key, then it popped...) and camera adjustment... well, by accident, while playing lalafel.
the CTRL camera movement can be done in the options menu too, theres a slider that goes from 0 to 100 to adjust the height of the camera. CTRL is just the hotkey to change it without digging through menus. bonus tip, it defaults based on your characters height when you create your character or when you fantasia, so lalafells have it set very low, while viera have it very high! CTRL to see items at high quality or normal quality is right there on the tooltip, that ones pretty obvious to learn early on for sprouts. as you get into higher level stuff, low quality becomes an obsolete concept, and everything is HQ if possible. id wager Zepla DID know this, but forgot over time because why would she care about low quality crafted gear? just buy the HQ stuff and move on with her day. the bonus xp from menphinas earring sounds really good and useful, but remember that it only counts monster kills, not roulette bonuses. 30% more xp sounds great, but if you find yourself in sastasha as a level 87, its literally the difference of killing one mob in the overworld. a 30% boost in totorak is fine, i guess, but aurum vale would give significantly more xp even though it loses the boost from the xp ring.
I don't suppose you know the controller equivalent for the camera slider? I've adjusted it in the menu before, but it would be really awesome to have it on the fly.

I found out about CTRL bringing aetherytes to the front only a few days before Zepla - from the Grinding Gear boys, who have only just dipped a toe into ShB.
Ok, the CTRL for maps is news to me, because I play with a controller and it generally snaps to aetherytes, however the camera control one is actually news to me. Was surprised that I happened to know all the others though. Gotta say though, the interupt and Esuna ones were kinda a no brainer from when they added them but I feel they would be harder to pickup on for a starting player, unless they say somewhere.
10:36 I had actually learned this from playing on my lalafell BLM and wanting to get a better camera angle view, super helpful edit: I see I'm not the only one that learned the CTRL camera movement as a lalafell. I guess it's just something us lalafells have had to learn out of necessity. I can see how Zepla doesn't know of CTRL camera movement because she's a viera.
You can also use it on the Summoning Bell to get your retainers if there's a horde of people stacked on it. It makes it so you click through other players and the summon bell/npc/dungeon entrance/etc is visually on top of the stack.
The ctrl + up/down is a slider in the camera settings too. I like to keep it lifted up so I see more of the battlefield and world instead of a bunch of useless floor behind me
I don't even play the game no more, but I am just as clueless as you and excited to know most of these tips. Can't wait to come back to the game after reaching minimum N2 Japanese and replay the game from zero to 7.0 and hopefully I'll still remember these tricks.
I have 20k+ hours played and never once noticed all the buffs were pointing upwards and debuffs pointed downwards, am a healer main so I did know about the esuna-line though... I always just memorized what everything did by reading the buff/debuff text and remembering the icon's picture x-x; Also the Ctrl on the map was news to me too... lmfao.

I love how confused zepla is over the shield heal graph because its unnecessarily confusing. Every shield stacks except for gcd shields. The bonus shield from a single target crit stacks with everything. Otherwise the bigger shield will replace, unless it is a sage which is immune to pesky scholars because of the toxicon mechanic where the sage gets rewarded for a shield breaking.
Today I learned: - Buffs have an up arrow, Debuffs have a down arrow - Emotes can have more power than Esuna (You would've thought use emotes all the time to NPCs would make me realize that by now) - Ctrl can compare HQ and NQ items - Ctrl can toggle Aetherytes to the front of the map - Ctrl is all-powerful
I told my tank in my static about a month ago buffs point up and debuffs point down and they didn't believe me till he saw for himself. And he has been playing since heavensward
So if your leveling a job your terrible at, would it be a valid move to equip brand new ring and menphinas earrings and only run dungeons under level 30 for extra 130 percent exp on them?
I bow down to the power of control ,so many things it does I never knew about. I am shook :D I struggle so often to click the damn aetherytes on a map, now I never have to struggle again XD
I knew about the buff/debuff arrows and I've only had a stint between 2016-2017 and actually really playing it from a year and a half ago to now. Oh lordy, Zepla, hahaha.
I never knew about the Atherythe cry map thing and the EXP thing being synced to your level holy shit. I really thought I was gonna know everything here and I knew a good chunk of it, there was a good amount that was obscure as fuck. lol

The TLDR is that you ideally should not bring two shield healers in the same party. Confusion over.
Today I learned:
- Buffs have an up arrow, Debuffs have a down arrow
- Emotes can have more power than Esuna (You would've thought use emotes all the time to NPCs would make me realize that by now)
- Ctrl can compare HQ and NQ items
- Ctrl can toggle Aetherytes to the front of the map
- Ctrl is all-powerful
This stuff have been in the game for years!
You never scrolled through your control settings girl? xD that's how I figured out I could pitch the camera. Your content is really funny btw
He didn't have to hit her like that with that knowledge right-cross.
I told my tank in my static about a month ago buffs point up and debuffs point down and they didn't believe me till he saw for himself. And he has been playing since heavensward
I only learned about /comfort in a duty recently when I saw somebody else do it and I saw a debuff get removed and it was like.... headasplode!
That was the sweetest rage quit I've ever seen when you found out about control showing stats 😂
The "Like of shame" lol
So if your leveling a job your terrible at, would it be a valid move to equip brand new ring and menphinas earrings and only run dungeons under level 30 for extra 130 percent exp on them?
I bow down to the power of control ,so many things it does I never knew about. I am shook :D I struggle so often to click the damn aetherytes on a map, now I never have to struggle again XD
I knew about the buff/debuff arrows and I've only had a stint between 2016-2017 and actually really playing it from a year and a half ago to now. Oh lordy, Zepla, hahaha.
For the buffs / debuffs, if they weren't 10 pixels tall.... I have to make everything like 200% to notice it.
fuuuuuu... i'm starting to wonder if the misery/comfort thing a reference to the marroon5 song...
How to do that camera ctrl thingy on a controller
Menu or chat command, it's /tiltcamera
The menfilia’s earring blew my mind.😮
Menphina's Earring btw.
XP boost items working in lower level dungeons was definately interesting to find out and keep in mind
Brb keeping Mephina’s earring for MSQ roulettes forever bc holy shit.
I never knew about the Atherythe cry map thing and the EXP thing being synced to your level holy shit. I really thought I was gonna know everything here and I knew a good chunk of it, there was a good amount that was obscure as fuck. lol
the CTRL + Up and Down..... how do you think Potato players are able to do Savage's so well? :P
The power of CTRL! I am a reborn ff14 player today.
I'm only 2 month in and I knew about camera movement CTRL. when you're short (F Au'ra shortest option) you need it for dungeons/raids or you won't see anything lol
Damn, learned a lot.
And here I was literally clearing out all side quests to see the aetherites better…
"shoebill is Emet-Selch"
Its not, because you can find it in Elpis aswell , but its one big mystery.
One of the twelve, my guess.
"icons that point downward are debuffs. Icons that point upward, are buffs."
Me: wtf??? 🤯🤯🤯🤯
