There wouldn't be one without the other, If this song had no MTV video, it would not have been as big of a hit, since MTV, and Much Music in Canada ,was not about the quality of music, just as long as the video was good is all that mattered. that is why ''music'' today isn't worth shit, the only decent music out there now isn't well-known because... you guessed it... no videos!! MuchMusic and MTV were the worst things to happened to music..

@@waynesbutler7834 That’s awesome.. Myself & my friends (young & annoying I’m sure to 18 yr olds) begged my brother & his friend if we could go to the ‘Presto Tour’ in 90. I almost got to go to the ‘Counter Parts’ in 94.. however I got sick!🤬 It was at the now shut down, Orlando Arena. They had a pre concert party signings etc at Jani Lane’s Rip “Sunset Strip.” I’m sure you know about all of those. Probably went to them as well. Like i have mentioned i have seen every concert since the 80s but each time it was at the Maple Leaf gardens in Toronto and once in Hamilton , i have not seen them in any other venues and had many friends who grew up with them . Fun Fact , Geddy Lee real name is Gary Lee Weinrib , his mother was Polish and when she called him Gary it came out as Geddy and it stuck plus Neil , RIP , was not their first drummer it was John Rutsy who only played on their first album , quit due to diabete issues that he died from in 2008 from heart failure . And Neils story is so tragic , lost his daughter in a car accident , his wife dies 2 years later from cancer , remarries has another daughter and now he is gone . Have a great day ..

In the early 80's I was at the Whiskey A-GO GO in Hollywood attending a punk rock show (my choice of music at the time). When the show was over and I was heading towards the exit and I heard people saying "Van Halen sucks" and more expletives that I don't want to say here. The isle to the exit turned right. The was a round booth with David Lee Roth sitting with a smoking hot chick on each side of him. He snapped his fingers on his right hand and made a V with his fingers. The girl on the right placed a cigarette between the V. He then moved his hand to the front of the girl on his left and she lit it. A true rock star moment.

One of the things that sets Eddie apart from most of his peers is his instrumental approach. The solos are only a relatively small part of it. His rhythm and timing, and musical phrasing and arrangement, are the meat of his music. Without all of that, the solos wouldn't exist and Van Halen music wouldn't work. Try tuning your ear to hear what's going on behind the vocals: and all the guitar, bass, and drums, as well as keyboards. Aside from the drums pretty much all of the music is played and/or arranged by Eddie.

Watch the official Van Halen video for 'Pretty Woman'. He has an interesting guitar solo before it called 'Intruder' before Pretty Woman starts. Sounds like random noise but he makes it work.

Eddie Van Halen claimed the metal guitar picks he habitually held in his mouth caused his tongue cancer. It's more likely, though, that his heavy cigarette smoking and alcohol use had more to do with his cancer - yes I Googled that!

Guitarist Eddie Van Halen is in the Top 5 Greatest Ever. Unfortunately, his brother, and drummer Alex does not get the “greatest” praises he deserves. Is seeing Alex perform this song live….I could see his hands move….lightning fast!

EXTREMELY popular song AND album - Van Halen’s best selling & last w/David Lee Roth > I used the “I don’t feel tardy” line a few times when arriving late @ school - exact line from lady in the office. - you two are tardy! (my friend & I look at each other, grin & say in unison) we don’t feel tardy. Yeah. We got a detention 🙄😂😂😎

I’ve been a die-hard VH fan since 1978, Eddie was the soundtrack to my teenage years.
In my opinion, the best of VH’s work was with leadman, the red rocker, Sammy Hagar!
David Lee Roth was all about gimmicks, all about himself.
Sammy brought sophistication and a great partnership on songwriting.

First concert the summer before I went into 8th grade - epic! Great week for concerts in Houston- Van Halen had 3 sold out shows and a few days prior Prince did the same thing on the Purple Rain tour- 1984- what a year! You guys should really just start with Van Halen I album and work your way through- total powerhouse of good times
