That said I watch your channel because you unapologetically do things your own way, you are creative beyond measure, and you present your content in a unique way devoid of nastiness and pretense and you seem like a great dude. The camping, either by rv or tent are just a means to an end to write via vlog an ongoing autobiography. Thank you for this beautiful channel. For almost forty years I worked in the construction industry. I helped a friend make a small company a large company. I got mean as a snake to survive. When I retired I came to the conclusion that anger is a wasted emotion. Your experience on UA-cam confirms my feelings about anger.
Long after we are both gone, and as long as Utube survives, your videos will be continously viewed and admired as true classics !
Wish I could like this video 1000 times. I don’t know if there is another video series or show on tv that I look more forward to than yours. I appreciate your honesty and simply being yourself. It inspires me to travel more, try to fix things myself more, and just enjoy the small things in life more. Even try to make my own videos, but I realize the effort you go through to make content you do. I’m a long time from retirement, but it’s important to enjoy the small things throughout our whole life and not wait to do it when we have more time. You never know what will happen tomorrow, so live each day the best way you can and be grateful each morning you’re given another day to live, even when things don’t seem well. I hope for every bad comment you get, you get 10,000 good ones.
I've never considered you a nomad or a homesteader, more like a modern-day Thoreau or John Muir. Naturalist, philosopher, and video story teller.
I think it was around 2019 that I found your channel. I was (and still am to a degree) interested in narrowboat living in the UK. One of my absolute favorite UA-camrs is Cruising the Cut with David Johns. One Christmas he posted a video of 'his' favorite channels and he highly recommended yours. I've been a subscriber of your channel ever since. When I want to relax with a smile on my face, I come to you. As much as UA-cam irritates me at times, I am also thankful for them. I've stopped watching regular tv and replaced it with real people, doing real things. Things that interest me. I joke with friends saying I'm going to UA-cam U(niversity). I've learned so much by so many fascinating people and I include you among them. I can't understand hateful people but I'm so thankful that you decided to keep going. Thank you for all that you do and know, I'll follow you as long as you keep posting.

I can’t tell you how much my wife and I have enjoyed all your videos. It’s a time that we both sit down together and share your journey and our own as we plan our camping adventures.
While we were tent campers and canoer’s in the BWCA of Northern Minnesota for 35 years, we decided it was time for a little better sleeping arrangements. So like you, we bought an Aliner Ranger and really enjoyed it. However about the same you were looking for a camper, we were doing the same. My wife found out about the Escape trailer made in BC. We found a beautiful 17b and used it a couple of years. My wife then decided with a little trepidation from me, decided that a little more room was desirable. So we ordered a 21c Escape, with a 2 year wait time. We are now enjoying our travel in New Mexico and Arizona. Your inspiration and kindness are deeply appreciated.

So I got laid off after 15 years 12/12/22: 64. Done a fabulous job, but company sold and well I was to old. I was. Devastated. But it’s turned out to be the best. Thanks Slim for sharing your story. It is probably a story of many. My husband says I retired to camping coordinator and dog agility puppy mom 😎. You have blessed us with so many places to see and how to deal with weather. Your photography is so so awesome. I love every video you have posted. God bless you. You have given us so many dreams to camp explore and see.
Slim, I discovered your channel only a few years ago. I enjoy everything you do. We share some similarities - I’ve spent my life living being outdoors. As a young man I was passionate about backpacking, hiking, and camping, but I also enjoyed rock climbing and whitewater canoeing. For several years while in college I live a lacto-ovo vegetarian lifestyle.
I too gravitated to small scale RVs. Even though I eschewed them before, I found them to offer much needed comfort to an old man, and my bride of now 40+ years enjoyed them far more than tent camping.
I lived and adventured in AZ and other parts of the US west for several years and yearn to return, if only for extended visits.
2019 was pivotal for me as well when two years after retirement I received a soft tissue organ transplant. Needless to say, life during Covid while taking anti-rejection meds designed to subdue my immune system. My hope for more travel grew dim.
BUT, I have vicariously enjoyed travel through UA-cam. Your videos, and videos of other “toners” have helped me maintain my sanity and helped keep my travel dreams alive.
Like you, I considered UA-cam, both for a possible source of income and because I still have much to share. I suspect my platform might be at lease a little similar to yours. I feel as though I have things I’d like to share from “how-to” tips to travel adventures. BUT, also like you, I have seen the all-too-often nasty side of comments. It is not that I have thin skin, I just have great difficulty suffering fools, especially narrow-minded, unenlightened, hateful fools, so I have not yet started a UA-cam channel, and I may never. No great loss to the world or me, I suppose.
So I guess this has turned into a long message, and I will close it by offering the hope that you will continue to produce your outstanding content. I’m sure I speak for others as well as myself when I thank you for the effort you put into your productions, to thank you for opening up a corner of your life so graciously to us all. Thank you for being a part of our lives!
Let's hear it for Slim. A great guy. I sometimes camp on new years eve. I don't need the fireworks at 1:00 a.m. The brightest meteor I've seen was on one of those campouts. By the way, you are aging well.
Slim this was a wonderful video. Hard to imagine that for some people tearing others down is how they exist. As we know that loud small group is over represented on line. Your videos connect with many of us because we can see a little of ourselves in you. We may not have your talents but we share your aspirations. Slim, I have been watching you for a while now.....silently. I enjoy the fact, that you do it without unlimited resources, like with a gazillion dollar 5th wheel or dramatic political statements. Just a regular person. I saw quoted by someone on line, that the World is Angry. And trolls are everywhere, waiting to release it on anyone. Don't let it stop your creativity. Because it is an art, doing this. Anyone who creates content , realizes how much editing time it takes. Keep it going. Hello Slim - I have been following you since about 6-mos before your “viral snowstorm” video. Coincidentally, we got trapped in a snow storm that same spring - only, lucky for us, in a campground in South Dakota. I have commented and complimented often enough - I guess because I don’t have near the ‘knowledge’ so many of your friends have. As we sped about a third of our year in our own trailer, I often get a laugh and am always amazed at your efforts to “make things interesting.” Thank you. Thank you for your tips, your reminders to take time to appreciate Mother Nature and thank you for…..sharing. I’ll try to remember to show my support more often. Safe travels & Peace to you in 2023.

Slim I stared watching you a few years ago. My wife would set next to me and she started watching you also. You give us ideas and the want to go camping. we both love photography. We hike and snow shoe. You are amazing for the time you put into the videos. We always look forward to watching you. Just remember we can not make all the humans happy. There probably isn't more that I can write to you that hasn't been already said...but I wanted to inundate the comments section with even more words of gratitude, appreciation and respect. This video is the epitome of why I will always click on the play button when I see a new video of yours posted. They are always funny, insightful, entertaining, and wonderfully executed stories (you have a phenomenal gift of story telling as others here have noticed...even in your how-to videos!). But, most of all, at the end of them, I'm left feeling uplifted and happy. This video especially gave me so many good belly-laughs. (even just seeing your More Cowbell shirt was a hoot)
I'm soooo grateful that you kept going despite the negativity that came into your life because of creating and uploading these videos. I don't think I would have the strength to endure that day in and day out. Knowing how difficult that decision was for you to continue bringing us videos makes me even more appreciative of them. THANK YOU for allowing us into your life! You certainly fulfilled your stated goal as can be seen by the enormous outpouring of support here. You rock, Slim! (now if I can just find out how you picked that nickname🙂)
I got posted with the military from Winnipeg to Ottawa in the summer of 2020. Travelling over both provinces, I was amazed at the amount of travellers on the road in the midst of the pandemic. We made it through the pandemic and it's starting to get better - not there yet but on it's way.
Your posts filled the empty time and helped many through it. Enjoying all your new adventures.

When my life is chaotic and noisy I watch your videos. You are peaceful and calm which we all need more of. My favourite videos are the bad weather ones. You accept how things are and just deal with them, no fuss no drama. I adore your channel ♥️👍

When I started watching your channel, all I had was a backpacking tent. I’m now in my second year of owning a new Casita and have to give you a lot of credit for that change in my life, Slim. I don’t have near the subscriber base you have, but I’ve had my share of the hate. Just consider it a badge of success, because no one rags on someone who doesn’t have real influence. Rock on!
We have watched your channel almost since the beginning. We appreciate and look forward to your stories, videography, and photography each time you post a new video. Try not to let those trolls get to you, they're just unhappy people working hard to make others be like them. Keep doing what you're doing.
I don't know why it's necessary to categorize videos. I follow you because you do so many different things. I followed you originally to learn and experience your creativity. I loved the DYI improvements you made on your Aliner; every new idea put into play. But I enjoyed the camping aspects and the unique landscapes you visited. Your videography grew in leaps, and you've taken me places that I will never experience despite them being in my own backyard. I like your simplicity, your willingness to try new things, and that you will always be you. I don't need you to be any one thing. Just keep doing what you want to do, and I will follow along
UA-cam categorizes creators so they can make suggestions for other videos on the same topics the viewers are interested in.
Slim, the winter snowstorm video was one of the first of your videos I watched and enjoyed. Been a subscriber ever since. I live vicariously through your videos. Trolls will be trolls. Don't let them get you down.

We are no longer able to travel and you are bringing a lot of enjoyment to our lives with your videos. We love when you work on the cabin or the trailer as well. The fact that there are people out there that think they should be mean to a genuinely nice person like you makes us mad and sad. Slim, I do not comment often but this video touched my heart. I want to say that I find you to be the most sincere, humble and down to earth person that I watch on Ytube. Your story reminds me of parts of my life and I recognize that. You are doing a great job, doing your thing, doing it your way, doing it on your budget, and doing it the best way you can. Keep it up and just ignore the trolls as best you can. They're just jealous and lost souls. I love the little A Frame camper you had, want one myself, but not sure if my Honda Civic is big enough to pull one. If you get a chance and the time, could you tell me if you think a Honda could handle one? Happy New Year and blessings all around.

I won’t be as flippant as to say ‘just ignore the trolls and other small-minded vicious types’ because I know it’s not that easy. People get my back up more often than I should allow and over relatively insignificant things and it’s something I try to work on. I’m glad you do the same and overcome the situation enough to carry on as we’d all be missing out on some of the best UA-cam content. I’m also glad you are promoting the East Coast in general and New Brunswick in particular as I feel it is often overlooked. Sorry it was suffering a loss that brought about the move, though. I think I have been watching for about 4 or 5 years periodically as videos were recommended and have been consistently watching for about 3 years so there are some early videos I should probably go back and check out as I didn’t recognize, for example, the white Jeep or your dog and only have some vague memories of the A Line trailer. Yes, the catagorizing is a bit of a pain but sometimes it brings people to your attention and you can follow their other exploits outside of the field that first brought you in. The annoying part for me is others being outraged when someone switches topics or adds new ones as if it’s some kind of betrayal. I watch one guy in the UK for his old car content that I enjoy and he recently bought a pop up trailer so he and his family go camping in it. “Great - he’s doing something else I enjoy” was my thought but others were complaining it was going to turn into a camping channel. Can’t please all the people all the time, I guess but you know that already! Keep doing what you are doing - and whatever else you feel like doing, too. 👍🏻

I found you many years ago on a travel binge. It brought me to Arizona to live and I'm not sad about it. Your ability to shoot scenery and the calm demeanor of your voiceovers has kept me around. Hopefully this year will present many great travel memories.
