- Part 19 of my cabin reno is a bit of a turkey sometimes, but the end result of a week of building has improved the cabin immensely. I also try a new "beer"!
Sorry if I look like a lobster, it's because I was having monitor color issues. Hope to have this fixed real soon!

Beer equivalent to a blow up doll... definitely my new favorite Slim line. What an absolute legend. I appreciate your content so much!
You've done an amazing job on remodeling the cabin, Slim! I'm inspired by your abilities and creativeness- love the rough trip around the window! I also enjoyed the video of the Turkeys and the Deer very much! Thanks for taking time to make this video and post it for us!
"But decorating your face with fake genitalia, you know I think that only works in the turkey world" 🤣🤣🤣 Got a stomach cramp from laughing so hard at that one! Good stuff Slim!
You are a true craftsman. The room is beautiful. ❤
When finished, Slim should show a before & after shot of each area of the cabin. It would truly demonstrate the remarkable transition.
I absolutely love your new "window seat." Rustic is such an inviting esthetic, and it lends itself so well to repurposing, diying and making do with what you have. Have you named your cabin? You were the one to see such potential in the poor old thing. Everyone advised you to tear her down and start over. Now she is blossoming anew thanks to your hard work and perseverance. She's turning into a stunner.
It's raining it's pouring watching slim is never boring
I love how you’re keeping it rustic.
Beautiful job for sure on that wall and window trim. Absolutely love your drop down table under the window. That is a prime spot for relaxing, eating and simply just watching the critters outside. You have many gifts for sure. Thank you for this video and God Bless.
OMG! You never cease to amaze me! I love starting my mornings with Slim! Your work is beautiful and your humor lightens my heart. Thank you 🙏
Thinking the same...😂🤣😂😅
“Beer equivalent of a blow up doll, looks like beer but has no personality” 😂😂😂😂😂. That’s hilarious
$120 for that lovely pine is a steal! Good job, it really looks nice.
Pat D it would cost a fortune in Newzealand.
You never fail to crack me up with your narrative contents.
Turkeys, deer and a woodpecker within the first two minutes, this episode is off to a great start!! 🦃 ❤ (edited) The cabin is looking great, love the warm wood tones!
Build a small wood feed trauph out in yard, get sum oates & a jug of molasses. Pour a sum molasses over the oates in a coffee can pour it into the trauph. Those deer will let you pet them while feeding them. My friends neighbor use to do it every summer at the lake cottage.
The turkey shots, wonderful job!
Cabin is coming right along👍
The window trim turned out beautifully. Nice job, Slim.
I absolutely love the way you framed out the twin windows and added the flip up table. They are awesome 🥰
That window though! I absolutely adore everything about it! Beautiful job Slim!
Why someone would criticize your efforts blows me away..its YOUR place and YOUR money and time..thanks for bringing us along
u have a good eye
Ah Slim - every video has a new idea, a view of nature, a twist of humor (or humour), and a beer (or not). Again, thank you!
So glad I came back to viewing your Channel. Truly enjoyed the camping videos but now the remodeling ones.
Wow! So awesome to see the deer and turkeys! They really trust you and you must be feeding them well eh?
I'm sure there is some trust, however they don't get much food from me. If Prudence comes by she may get a handful of corn, but here friends typically keep their distance. The turkeys however have a large territory they forage from so I don't see them often. The large group of over 50 only passes by every few weeks, but they do remember me. They eat ticks, so the exchange is mutual! SP
Last night, after watching your "window seat" video, my wife and I scrolled back to many of your previous videos and came across the one when you announced your 100,000 subscribers. It's been such a pleasure to follow you these past four years. You are an artist, indeed. You make the best travel videos of all youtubers. Job well done!
You're doing a great job giving it a cabin feel blending in with nature with creatcher comfort
I have to admit that when you first bought the cabin, my heart sank. 😮 That roof covered in black rotting leaves, the sagging foundations, the strange lean-to wall facing the lake-view.
Ooh! What a costly mess.
A bloomin' _Disaster !_
How wrong I was, as I now realise I was merely projecting my own inability to "see properly" the way a sculptor does when they view _a lump of rock_ 😊 but only see the great possibilities hidden within.
Thanks Slim, for turning a 🥔 Potato into a Meal 😅
All is looking Fantastic!!!! I truly enjoy watching all of your videos! Thank you Slim 👍
Im impressed, this cabins come a long ways. Such good work and the new boards add a warm cozy feeling.
I enjoy renovations that are harmonious with their surroundings, like yours. You deserve a real beer. Cheers!
Great work! We really like the window trim and the little table. The walls look perfect too. It is always fun watching the renos.
That whole project is awesome the window trim and the table with the view, can’t wait for breakfast.
Wow that wall, window and table turned out excellent, love the live edges and natural shapes. Keep up the good work Slim.
The natural edge you did on that window trim looks so beautiful.
who knew male turkeys were so beautiful?? and your window seat is gorgeous... I agree that piece of wood was a good catch... lastly the sound of the rain on your roof, even with that drizzly view outside, is so relaxing...who needs psychotherapy when you have such a place as yours...good job again, thanks
This is a wholesome channel. I enjoy it very much.
Excellent!
A comedic carpenter. ♡
Thanks for tips & laughs.
Very beautiful job putting paneling inside your cabin. You certainly have an eye for design. I envy that. The turkeys are a bonus plus too. Nice video.
The cabin in the woods is coming together and looking great.
Nothing better than the good old Robertson screw.
Nice going. You’re a man of many talents!
LOVE your progress and your wildlife documentary. Gorgeous birds!!!! The room looks so much better after the Slim Touch.
Yes, the cabin’s interior is definitely “looking good” Slim. Your property looks like a wildlife sanctuary, and what a wonderful view that provides. Thanks for sharing and allowing us to enjoy it as well.
Mr. Slim, you are making that cabin a true treasure! Something I think a lot of people dream of doing but very few ever see their dream come true. Looks like you’re about there. Good luck!
Love the pine walls!! Love the breakfast shelf!
Damn, that looks fantastic. You're the perfect combination of engineer and artist Slim.
Fantastic window treatment! 👍👍 Awesome seeing the deer and turkeys.
Hahaha the blow up doll analogy. Was not expecting that 😂😂
The window trim looks great, a contractor would charge extra for that look.
Looks great! You have a great slice of heaven there with all the wildlife.
Lol at the blow up doll.
I have been home brewing beer since 2010 and you may want to check into the laws in Canada. Home brew is also a lot cheaper than any other beer. And the kits are as easy as making soup. I even made my own beer when my wife and I were full time in an RV for 3 years.
Love the videos!
Hopefully you inspire Slim enough that we get a beer making video! That would be a treat.
I used to brew my own beer but couldn't handle the bottling. All the cleaning and mess made me wanna drink! SP
Yes, that comment cracked me up.
I too brewed my own beer. One day I took a six pack to work for my boss. He put it in his truck. it was a super hot day. Super hot. It took us awhile to clean the mess up. Exploded like a bomb.
The next day, his wife said: ' Did you throw a drunk'?
@@SlimPotatohead I wonder if you can you use Ball canning jars instead?
I'd imagine longneck bottles would be a pain to clean and fill.
Would they be spoil if they are kept in a dark, cool/cold place prior to consumption?
Cabin is coming along nicely Slim love it, definitely a cozy little slice of heaven👍
Loved the woodpecker in the background.
Terrific job on the carpentry…the non-alcoholic beer, well, good luck with that project!
Great video, Slim. I love the window frame, especially the top piece. So rustic-looking. As well, there is the spring and summer to look forward to as you proceed with the renos. It will be more pleasant to do these in warmer weather. Greetings from Ontario.
Love what you did in your future kitchen. Everything looks fantastic. You trimmed out that window perfectly. Also, your humor is my favorite thing about watching you Slim. You always put a big smile on my face. 😊
I love what you did on the walls & window in your kitchen! So nice and homey.
You could be on a TV show your voice is magnetic, very appealing.
You seem to know how to do anything when it comes to fixing up your cabin and RV, and you make it look easy ❤️
Most things are pretty easy if you've got time and a little patience. Best way to learn! SP
Slim you are making an amazing cabin! Everyone of us loves it! Sweet window seat. Ancient Cinee secret..... when its wet outside get wet inside. Enjoy the brew and the view my friend.
Nice work. You give us viewers good ideas for our own places.
Great work Slim .tables lovely and the window trim adds cozy n comfort to your home..love watching the process.✌️❤️😊
Hi Slim, I LOVE the live edge trim around the window. So beautiful!! ... Cheers!
that window trim looks amazing, good job Slim!
Slim I really like the idea of a breakfast spot with a view. That will be a great spot to relax. She is looking good buddy. Cheers brother.
Never thought you were going to become a finish carpenter , did you great job
The breakfast table window trim is very nice.
Gosh Slim, I love watching you reno. I’m way down here in Louisiana and look forward to your projects. If I were closer, I’d help!
Another great edition of "This ole Slim's House"! Your craftsmanship and mental thoughts to craftsman design are inspiring.
It's really starting to have the vibe of a This Old House type of show!
Absolutely lovin' the Cabin. Great job Slim
SIMPLE YET RUSTIC. GOOD JOB
Simply Splendid Slim! The cabin and your videos are super ❤️
The spacers are a great idea so your plates will be flush with the wall. Great tip Slim. The cabin is progressing nicely.
The "kitchen" walls look so cosy and nice!
The white lamps matches perfectly!
As always I find your videos good evening watching. Calm and interesting with a bit of doing things the way you want. Looks very nice and hope your proud of the work you do. THANKS.
I would call that a stunning upgrade! Looks amazing!
Absolutely lovely, The window trim looks great! The top piece really was a crowning glory.
Best table top saw ever
Tator love the wood trim! Your cabin is getting so cozy! Nice job!
Nice work with the live edge window trim!
I wouldn't get much done when the Turkeys dropped by, except drink coffee.
Gorgeous paneling and trim! Wood windows would have been nice but they’re costly. Loved seeing those magnificent turkeys as well.
The wood for the drop table was a great find... and it took the color nicely too !
I love the reno! And the Turkeys!!
Your cabin looks like the ones I stayed in on Lake Minnewawa in MN when I was a kid. I love the knotty pine. That says cabin to me!
I think I'd rather drink a light beer than non alcoholic. Something in the beer does wonders for my digestion.
What a beautiful job! I love those trims! On the first window when you put that top piece that just sealed it ! And that table is gorgeous! Oh man I could t stop laughing when you compared the beer to a blow up doll lol you’re such a character and your video are always a joy to watch no matter the subject
The table you created is beautiful. Also love the way you trimmed out that feature window!
The cabin is looking great. Can't wait to see what comes next in the restoration. ❤
Things are definitely looking up at the cabin. Nice work Slim!
It’s looking amazing now love the wood walls.Oh yes the deers and turkeys were great to watch thanks, from Newzealand.
Hey Slim, Looks FANTASTIC! I love the fold up breakfast bar. Keep up the excellent work!
A couple safety tips to do what you want with:
1 - Make sure any rags you use for finishes get laid out flat to dry before tossing them - they could catch fire if balled up.
2 - With the table saw - best practice to not wear gloves. If by some chance they were to get into the blade, there's a possibility it'll pull your hand into the blade more.
Awesome job on the window trim, it's perfect. anything else would have looked out of place. The top trim board brings it all together. Keep up the good work.
Slim, when you have combustible material such as wood added to your walls, you should use extension boxes on your device boxes instead of spacers. Without out them, a fire in the box could catch the wood on fire. That is code in the US, and I think the Canadian code is similiar. It cost more money, but it is much safer. I enjoy all your videos, but especially the Cabin videos. Keep up the good work. Awesome wild Turkey footage. Thanks, Russ, Electrician from Oregon.
Before and after comparisons are always satisfying, I really liked how especially smooth this one was.
I love what you’ve done. Beautifully rustic!
No, humans are into changing (by obliterating theirs).🤦🏻♀️ Most beautiful workmanship with nature’s simplicity.😍
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Love the live edge trim and table etc., also love your wildlife and nature shots. You’re our favourite UA-camr Slim!
You nailed it with that, live edge window trim!
The paneling and table look beautiful and makes the cabin so much more homey!
You take amazing videos! It is like you have a camera crew following you around👍🥳👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love your window frame! Well done, very creative.
Awesome job Slim, love all your rustic approach.
