    Americans are buying a lot of SUVs and crossovers but not everyone wants to look like Camper Kyle every day of the week. Chevrolet’s Blazer is the remedy for flannel fatigue. Think of it as the offspring of Traverse and Camaro. It seats five, holds a lot of kit and is happy to dive into curves and corners. Yep, it’s fun to drive. Tom Voelk checks out a well-equipped 2020 Premier AWD model that MSRPs for $49,060. Is it worth the price of entry? A hint- dust off your haggling skills.
    Oh, and yes, my hands look like hell. Here in Seattle, we're washing our hands 15 times a day and in between that, dousing then in Purell. They're going to look ugly for the next few months.

    Ok, that's it... it's bad enough I had to go to three different grocery stores yesterday to buy my regular groceries but now Tom can't even do his toilet paper test anymore?? Stop hoarding groceries, people! This is NOT the apocalypse we're living in! Have some common sense and think of other people. Your hoarding is creating artificial shortages.

    Optioned out, this vehicle in Premier trim is priced against a BMW X3 and Merc GLC 300, both with a lot of options. No way it's competitive against them.

    Tom, please do not worry the UA-cam subscription count, which no one can do anything about - it is artificially manipulated ... MANY channels have been gravely hurt deliberately, sometimes for absolutely no reason, by the management at UA-cam, which has conspicuously a conspiratorial agenda. Meanwhile, you are just FANTASTIC, and THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!

    Another great objective review from Tom V. This car seems to get a lot of hate if for no other reason than the reused Blazer nameplate. $50,000+ seems a bit high for a top trim model. $40,000 would make it a great choice in this class.

      Bet you a buck if you went to a Chevy dealer right now you could get it for close to that. My wife's Volt MSRPed for $36,500. Paid $27,000. Before the federal tax incentive. As I said...

      J High, it has head room lesser than a Camry ( destroys the whole purpose of buying an SUV over a sedan) and yes, even for its most delicious styling, this is still way too overpriced considering you can get a better equipped and more reliable Santa Fe for at 7-8k USD less asking price or even go for the all new upcoming base model Genesis GV-80, and brother, that SUV puts even some of the best German luxury SUV to shame when it comes to design and styling. So no, all this hate is not unjustified and unnecessary. Chevrolet did make a very weak argument for a very poorly prepared car just hy naming it blazer, and even that never was a market leader to begin with. Hence.... 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Hey Tom, I was against the Look of the new Blazer at the beginning. It’s starting to grow on me. I have a 2017 Impala LT with that 2.5 High Compression 4 banger making almost 200hp. Quite Adequate for the 3300LB Impala but I don’t think it would be enough power for the 4300LB Blazer. And I agree that the Infotainment Screen here is small compared to almost all other makes. And that TOP Spec Model should have more color on the dash and steering hub to break it from lower trims. And you’re right about pricing high and getting a deal That 2017 Impala LT with the PANO roof sticker was $34,500. I offered them $25K and they took $26,300. I know it was end of July 2017 and it was not a popular car which is a shame as I love it compared to Mid sized. It’s much much quieter and smoother and can still handle. Great Review as always.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  4 роки тому

      Impalas are great cars and apparently very reliable. That's a great way to buy a car. Apparently Car and Driver did a quick review of the 2.5 NA engine in Blazer and the lede read it was tolerable (though I didn't read the article).

    Nerdy question for you Tom: When you slowly zoom into a shot, it is done by scaling the footage right? But if your final res is 4k, does it mean you shoot at an even higher res to give you freedom to crop and zoom when editing? Or do you film in 4k and accept a tiny bit of degradation by scaling up the shot to simulate a zoom?

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  4 роки тому +1

      I love nerdy questions. Sometimes I'm actually zooming on the camera. Others I do it in editing. This is the first review i've done in 4K since I'm trying out a new camera that is much more efficient than my Sony FS7. Even in standard HD, the small amount that I zoom in on using editing isn't enough to effect resolution much. So no, I don't "overshoot" as far as resolution is concerned. Besides, this is UA-cam. Most viewers are fine with crappy shaky iPhone video with jump cuts.

    Attractive sure. Reliable? Proven? This makes me nervous. A Subaru is as reliable as my kitchen appliances. They always work. I had 2 Subarus. Really looking forward to a Forester most likely, or an Outback. But this Blazer really does try. I think for Grand Cherokee money I would buy Grand Cherokee. But with spotty FCA quality, it concerns me still. I have a 2014 Cherokee I enjoy but has not been trouble free vs. a Toyota or Subaru. Reminds me of a 4/5 scale GC. I drove a 2017 GC, and enjoyed though the brakes weren't as confidence inspiring as my Cherokee is. I love the brakes in the Cherokee. I like allot of the Camaro elements but day to day, not so much. This Blazer gives me the style but more function. Pricing is scary though, and haggling isn't always my style that much, but I love a bargain. I don't know what the 2021 GC will be like though evolution seems more than revolution there. No reason to hurt a great thing on FCA's best seller. So I am guarded on what is happening now. I want more proof this Blazer is robust enough. I want reliability above all else. So the Toyotas, Subarus and Hondas are usually up there for me. Blazer is a temptation I would be careful about. Checks off all the right boxes for me, but the things above. Still love your FS Sony camera. Your videos look excellent and nice sound too. I want to start my own channel soon. I watch yours allot for inspiration as well. Nice video as always.

So what is "premier" about this Premier trim if everything that makes it premier is an option? Since Chevrolet is hellbent on recycling names, when is the Nomad coming back? I could use a go-fast, do it all (road) wagon; something along the lines of a 9-5 Aero Sportcombi or the now/soon-to-be defunct Buick TourX...

    • @DrivenCarReviews

      @@normt5463 ..that is fantastic. I really should have bought a 9-3 Aero SC in 2011/2012, but wasn't in the market. the 9-5 Aero was also a nice land missile. The TourX made it to my "top 10" list, but sadly, the lack of a manual trans put it at the bottom along with having to go with top trim to get the nicer seats. #1-Alltrack/GSW (because manual), #1-BRZ (because driving feel/reward), #3-GTI, #4-Accord Sport/Civic Si, #5-MX-5 (wife said no), #6-Crosstrek (manual but slow)..eventually ended up in a WRX

    In Canada, a fully loaded Blazer Premier costs as much, if not more, than a fully loaded Kia Telluride SX. This car's pricing makes no sense whatsoever, especially with that price, you can get the Traverse. With everything that's happening, I hope that GM discounts the Blazer, otherwise people will flock to the cheaper (and better) competition.
    As a Chevy owner, I am disappointed. The car itself is great, but over $50K for this is absurd.
