- The new 2020 Chevrolet Blazer Premier and RS trims offer an optional torque vectoring all-wheel drive (AWD) system. Does this make the Blazer a suitable rig for blazing down forest roads? Or will it's street-focus keep it on the tarmac? In this video we hit the forest and snow roads to find out.

I have a 2020 RS that I’ve had for a year. I’ve put 37k on it in that year. I’ve done several cross country trips in it to do camping, kayaking, and backpacking trips in Colorado, Montana, Alaska, and Utah. Although I wasn’t pushing it into territory that could damage the underbody, it does absolutely amazing on off road terrain you would come in contact with in a normal adventurous lifestyle. Only advice, CHANGE THE FACTORY TIRES. Love the reviews!
What tires do you use do you also have the 21 inch rim?
Sir I just love your work and specially I love the way you test the car on the particular spots please do not change the place of tests and keep up the good work.
100% agree
I believe when throwing the vehicle in Tow Haul mode you get the descent control that you are looking for. Just got my 2021 Premier, and I think that's the case.
For me General Motors is a a brand with good tech, durability and good designs in the automotive industry in United States. For personal experience and comments is the best reliable brand of America. The other's American brands competitors improve little more in better interior presentation and screens, but in elegant appearance and reliable the winner is General Motors.
Thanks for share🙏🏻, and like always good video and information.
I absolutely love your reviews, you talk about stuff most reviews don't. This helped me a lot on deciding if I should purchase this car, I'll be getting it in 2 weeks. Thanks for the review, loved it
We reviewed this thing offroad and discussed in depth each of the drive modes and what they do traction wise. This thing has one of the best AWD systems in any vehicle today. Great review!
Great presentation, ingenious genuine vibe. Subbed.
Good points man you made me understand what the new Blazer is a rally vehicle and I think the motor sounds as good as the Stingray, and it could get to the cabin or down a forest road to a treestand and can tow a boat like a Tracker, the negative made in Mexico and no good offroad like the old S10 Blazer or ZR2, but this Blazer can outrun a Jeep Cherokee JK or a new one. Would like to try one out on the country backroads paved and dirt like the good old boys' Bo and Luke and how about a special orange General Lee with the Rebel flag.
I have a 23 RS AWD with the twin clutch system. It’s been very good but took it up a steep wet grassy hill yesterday in tow/haul mode and off road modes. and saw from outside that in tow haul mode, which is SUPPOSEDLY 50/50 torque split to get you and your boat up a wet/slippery boat ramp, that it seemed to be a reactive opposed to proactive system this one time. Decent amount of front wheel slip then rear kicked in and put me up the hill and I stopped halfway through the hill to see how the system would work as well and noticed multiple front wheel full rotations until rear kicked in which kinda leaves me wondering what the actual torque split and modes are really doing but I did make it up the hill, I’m just curious as to why there was so much slip this time and why the system is “advanced” and costs more with this not so preventative reaction
Not in snow when in sport mode with tc off you can drift it or even when going straight it will kick the rear cover at a blip of a throttle
How does this compare to the system on the Honda Passport?
Damn that Acura badge is huge 13:37. Do they want you to see it from space?
Hi, I really enjoyed your review. Could you write to us. What is the fuel consumption and what is the most economical driving mode? Blazer 2021 Premier
The vents on the Camaro and Blazer are badass. The Blazer is great looking, packed with features and the AWD version will go off road just as well as any other crossover suv. Chevrolet knocked this one out of the park.
Ugly.
@@JeffSpehar-ov1cn Did you just look in the mirror?
GM Engineer in a TFL video said the RS sends 60% rearward. If you brake torqued on those gravel tests the rear tires would be spinning as soon as you released the brakes.
The Acura SH-AWD will not pass the -3-roller test with a single front wheel on ground. In this test it had to be pushed off the rollers. GM Twin Active Clutch will pass this test and do it again on an incline.
www.extremetech.com/extreme/244191-buick-joins-torque-vectoring-goes-snow-wheel-drive-show
I question if the pilot will do the same with one front tire getting grip. TFL did not do this test and I was disappointed. Seems that Honda Acura brake vectoring is lame. Whereas Subaru is premier
The guy doing the review in this video is a GM hater.
How does this compare to the Toyota Rav4 adventure/trail awd system?
RAV-4 is way better equipped, plus Toyota has a TRD edition now.
It doesn't.
@@molinarodger6606 the Toyota/Lexus front wheel drive based AWD systems do not have active torque differential but brake based.
@@normt5463 The Adventure/Trail and up have clutched systems on the Rav. I was curious specifically how differently they drive.
@@fordrac1ng81 I actually have a Trail TRD as of two weeks ago, just curious driving dynamics wise as the AWD systems looked comparable from a quick glance
Great review. Thanks for sharing!
They did not make replacement parts I need hood but they did not make any extra.
Great review as always Ryan! On a tangential note, I recently got a 2020 Q5. I'm trying to figure out what the different driving modes do to the all wheel drive system. I can't find any literature out there. Can you please assist? I was also wondering if there is any form of torque vectoring in the Q5, whether a real torque vectoring like the SHAWD, or a brake based one like in the Subaru Forester. Thank you!!! Love your channel!!
Late but, have you checked your owners manual?
The only thing missing is ventilated seats and the price is down around $42,000 which is way better than $50,000. I guess Chevy is beginning to come back to life, back to reality.
Yes, good discounting!
It has ventilated seats.
I could play a drinking game from how many times he mentioned the Acura rdx. This Blazer looks badass, and all he's doing is promoting Acura instead of giving an unbiased review
this one come with offroad mode, i wish you would compare this car with passport. so we can see which one is more capable
Passport. The Blazer doesn’t have enough ground clearance for anything more than a gravel road and the overhangs prevent any larger obstacle attacks.
7:14 I thought it was one-way drive, but it is not (7:23).
@50k dollars
@cheap and ugly interior
Chevrolet...
😂
It's trash.
Yep. For almost 50 grand I ain't buying a blazer.
Yay, Carlina 😘
For US$49,000++, I'll take a different direction which have far better quality....great video information..
This is not a bad car but the price is just too much.
What vehicle isn't over priced?
It’s the top of the line trim.... what u expect?
Acura Acura Acura 🔥
You need to be high to pay 50 grand for this car.
I will not be driving off-road, have too many roads in my region.
Blazers used to be 4x4 right
Yup. Competitor to the old Bronco.
Nice
GM are you listening? Get your ears nice and close.... THE BLAZER IS OVERPRICED!!!!
At $50k that interior is very weak and cheap looking. Typical of GM though.
I wonder how much Chevy pays the press every time they say "camaro like"?
Since the design is literally pulled from the Camaro, the comparison in that respect is appropriate.
@@drivingsports what part of the design do you mean? Headlights aren't close....taillights maybe similar. And the hvac controls. Just like the mach e is supposed to resemble the mustang. Similar taillights and a couple interior pieces do not make one the other.
@@donaldsalkovick396 Think of it this way, Same father but different mother.
@@somergoyt similar hvac controls and taillights lol
Overpriced GM 💩
Acura RDX is a much better choice.
The Blazer RS handles as well as a Stelvio Ti in Motor Trend handling tests. No Acura SUV handles that well.
The RDX has a junk transmission
GM is not a great product. Some Toyota or Honda would be a much better choice.
This is not a real Blazer. Very disappointing by Chevrolet. Ford is going to blow them out of the water with the new Bronco.
SilverWolf25 they aren’t in the same segment, so.... what’s your point.
Its simple. GM was worried that if they brought it back as an off roader, nobody would buy it. Thats not what the market wants nowadays. Maybe it the bronco sells well they will bring it back.
Very over priced junk
There’s so many better options than this garbage
This Blazer is not garbage.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
