This song was written and originally recored by Chuck Berry and featured in the movie "Pulp Fiction". Wonderful cover by Emmy Lou. She has a beautiful voice.
Albert Lee on lead guitar was fabulous. This was "The Hot Band". Most of the members were from Elvis' band. As another poster mentioned, this entire concert at the Old Grey Whistle Test is awesome.
There's only two artists I have seen more than once in concert. There's only one I've seen more than twice and that's Emmylou. She can harmonize with a chainsaw and make it sound good.
Emmylou was such a beautiful looking woman all through her career, and she could back it up with top notch quality vocals and musicianship, making her very watchable as a performer .. However, I'd love you to check out her studio version from around 1975 of the wonderful "If I Could Only Win Your Love" .. It has Herb Pedersen providing backing vocals and their voices blend perfectly.
I think she is actually getting more beautiful with age! I always thought she was quite sexy even though she is like 20 years older than me, and I still think so. As with her talent, her looks just keep getting better! Aging like fine wine!
I adore Emmylou Harris. One thing she can particularly do well is collaborate with other artists. Her longest pairing up with was Gram Parsons. They were great together and Emmylou has said without him she wouldn't be the musician she is. I enjoy the Album she did with Mark Knopfler, excellent. Dave Matthews and Emmylou as well. Good stuff..
That whole gig at the Old Grey Whistle Test was spectacular. Making Believe was fabulous and Pancho and Lefty was gorgeous. I'm going to say again that her signature song, the most important song for you to react to, is BOULDER TO BIRMINGHAM. It's a song she co-wrote as a lament for her late partner Gram Parsons, and songs just don't get any better.
Classic Chuck Berry penned song! “The Hot Band.” that's backing Emmylou included some future big names in Country music. Guitarists Rodney Crowell (successful songwriter, was married to Rosanne Cash for awhile and went on to have several hits of his own as a solo artist), Albert Lee (well respected session guitarist, known for his hybrid finger picking flat picking style. Very influential guitar picker. In particular, I remember him playing lead guitar on Carlene Carter's hit, "I Fell In Love"), steel guitarist Hank DeVito (I believe that's a classic 1970's wood Emmons double-neck steel he's playing), keyboard player Glen D. Hardin, bassist Emory Gordy Jr. (went on to become one of the more successful Music producers in Nashville and married Country singer Patti Lovelace) , and drummer John Ware (session drummer who early his career played in Linda Ronstadt's Stone Poneys) Also, Tony Brown (future producer for George Strait) played piano with Emmylou for a time. But he's not the keyboardist in this video
Fun Fact: That "Hawaiian guitar" is, in fact, called a pedal steel guitar, and it was derived from the lap steel and the console steel (the difference between those is that one is placed on the lap while the other has legs to stand on). Those, OTOH, were derived from the real Hawaiian guitar, the so-called Weissenborn guitar. There are also resonator guitars which come in a few flavors, some of which are played with a bar like a Weissenborn or a steel guitar. They usually have a thick rectangular neck, called a square neck.
Fantastic ! কিশোর বিবাহ পুরানো লোকেরা মঙ্গল কামনা করেছিল..🎸💃🌹 Lyrics: 👉It was a teenage wedding, and the old folks wished them well You could see that Pierre did truly love the madamoiselle And now the young monsieur and madame have rung the chapel bell, "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell They furnished off an apartment with a two-room Roebuck sale The coolerator was crammed with TV dinners and ginger ale, But when Pierre found work, the little money comin' worked out well "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell They had a hi-fi phono, boy, did they let it blast Seven hundred little records, all rock, rhythm, and jazz But when the sun went down, the rapid tempo of the music fell "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell They bought a souped-up jitney, 'twas a cherry red '53, They drove it down to Orleans to celebrate the anniversary It was there that Pierre was married to the lovely Madamoiselle "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell
That whole album, "Roses in the Snow," is just amazing. Loved hearing Johnny Cash on "Cold Jordan" and Dolly Parton with the great Ricky Skaggs on "Green Pastures."
I agree that, as much as I admire Ms Harris on uptempo numbers, ballast are her forte because it gives her space to use that aching, ethereal tone of her voice to greatest effect. IMO besides the classics like Boulder to Birmingham, Making Believe, To Daddy, or Pancho and Lefty, lesser known songs like Icy Blue Heart, Diamond in My Crown, and Mary Danced With Soldiers show off that part of her interpretive skills best.
This was a great concert. Two other songs you should hear Emmy do is Pancho and Left also Makin' Believe. Thanks for visiting such a talented artist. I'm sure you are aware of her teaming up with Linda and Dolly.
Very enjoyable. I didn't know she covered this song. I was raised on Chuck Berry's version but this was great listening. Thanks Harri. Great reaction. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
A song she did in memory of her best friend, Gram Parsons, please react to "Boulder to Birmingham". A beautiful ballad that is a favorite of mine. She has the voice of an angel.
Thank you for posting this,Harri! If you want to hear her cover another classic song, she did a beautiful cover of The Beatles' "Here There and Everywhere".
C'est la vie=such is life. Emmy Lou doing my fave Chuck Berry song, life is good! Her "Evangeline" from The Last Waltz is wonderful! Love her with Gram too. She also sings harmony with Bonnie Raitt on the live version of Little Feat's "Willin'", simply amazing!
Seen this beautiful lady way back in the seventies with The Hot Band in New Orleans! She became one of my most iconic favorites from that night! Thanks for the reaction Harry! Brings back amazing memories !
Emmylou Harris has a great rock and roll album, "The Wrecking Ball." The tune "Deeper Well" or Dylan's "It Don't Matter (Where You Bury Me) are both great tunes.
Not sure what you've done on Emmylou but a couple of my favorites are Boulder to Birmingham and Pancho and Lefty. Oh and Tulsa Queen. Oh, and Two More Bottles of Wine. Oh and ... so many others.
Is that Rodney Crowell on guitar? I know he toured with her. Chuck Berry sang this with her on another video. Quite good if i remember well. Great choice lovely lady. She also does a lot of great duets and trios with Dolly and Linda. All great.
My favorite Emmylou song right now is "If I Needed You" which is a duet with Don Williams! Great harmony and each have a solo part! But a solo from "Cimmaron" album is "Another Lonesome Morning" and "Born to Run!"
Back in the day when Emmylou sang rock/blues songs. I loved listening to her then, but I couldn't get into her traditional country sound which she turned to later. I read that her kids told her "Mom, you're too old to sing rock 'n roll." Darn kids!
I don't recall hearing the Chuck Berry original before the early 70s, probably, late one night with my little transistor radio and single earphone. A fave ever since, and a frequent pick for rock and blues jam sessions. It's an unfailing crowd-pleaser, so why not?! Emmylou, it's been love at first sight, love by association, love because it's clear any sane person would. Any opportunity to hear more of her, I'm deeply grateful for. I thought I recognized, and had it confirmed among the comments, that that's Albert Lee, an English country-rock legendary picker on the blonde Tele taking the last solo. The comments, maybe the same one, says the rest may be from Elvis' band. Cool, shizz, lol
Some record producer told her to come back when she got a hot band behind. This is The Hot Band, with Rodney Crowell and Albert Lee on guitar. This is a cover of a Chuck Berry song.
Emmy lou Harris and Don Williams d a det called If I needed you. Inow you mentioned your parents listed to him a lot when you were a kid. Also a lesser know song of Dons was called Seniortia" . I grew up listening to Don but only heard this song about a year ago for the first time.
I love Emmylou Harris’s voice, one of my favorite duets is her and Willie Nelson singing, “I never cared for you.” I do recommend a reaction to that if you haven’t seen it already: ua-cam.com/video/kmdwsLtNx2E/v-deo.html, they also did “My own peculiar way” together in the same session: ua-cam.com/video/ul7Ld9DXNuQ/v-deo.html
Hi love your reaction videos. One video you must react to is Diana ankudinova singing I can’t help falling in love with you. Her voice will shock you but in a good way. She is so special. I hope you choose to take my advice. Keep up the good work.
I know this song, but not this version. It features prominently in the movie Pulp Fiction, but the version used there has a male singer (Chuck Berry, I think?).
Emmy Lou and Mark Knopfler did a tour 16 years when Emmy Lou was 59 yrs old. So she had Dire Straits as her back up band when they di her tunes and she sang with Mark on his tunes. They did a ballad written by Emmy Lou called' "Red Dirt Girl", brilliant performance, her is al link: ua-cam.com/video/JE_sUN_M7p0/v-deo.html BTW HArrt are you ever going to react to King Sunny Ade? 😃
I agree Emmylou is known for her beautiful and heartbreaking ballads, but to hear her rocking out a bit is a lot of fun!
She's STILL BEAUTIFUL with her premature silver hair. Still talented as well.
This song was written and originally recored by Chuck Berry and featured in the movie "Pulp Fiction". Wonderful cover by Emmy Lou. She has a beautiful voice.
Aptly named Hot Band. That's Rodney Crowell on guitar and harmony and Albert Lee on the lead.
Albert Lee on lead guitar was fabulous. This was "The Hot Band". Most of the members were from Elvis' band. As another poster mentioned, this entire concert at the Old Grey Whistle Test is awesome.

Albert Lee on lead guitar! British bloke playin' country music. He's the GOAT!

"Two More Bottles of Wine" was a country/rock great . She is awesome
She's so amazingly, and an incredible song writer. Do check out her album "Red Dirt Girl" and I hope you enjoy her songs🙋😎

My favorite song of hers is "Wayfarin' Stranger." I think you'd love it, Harri.
That whole album, "Roses in the Snow," is just amazing. Loved hearing Johnny Cash on "Cold Jordan" and Dolly Parton with the great Ricky Skaggs on "Green Pastures."
She does a fine version of Love Hurts with Gram Parsons !
Everything she did with Gram is great.
Like the haunting Hickory Wind
Her duet with Gram on 'A Song For You' is the best!
Thank y'all for remembering and mentioning Gram Parsons, gone way to soon.

Another great Dolly Parton song covered beautifully..
Try her song Icy Blue Heart and also Hello Stranger, really show off her voice. ❤️
Her guitarist Albert Lee is one of the finest, fastest flatpickers on the planet, and is as English as the Queen!
No one like Emmylou!
Check out "Tulsa Queen" by Emmylou. It's more of a ballad, and I think there is a live version available from the same concert as this one.
All 100% true! I came here to type the same thing. My thumb and I thank you 👍

"Boulder To Birmingham", by EmmyLou Harris, please....
I love Cajun influence Country or rock. My friend would always just say it’s from Louisiana it’s just good old fashion Swamp music
Albert Lee on lead guitar is a fellow countrymen of yours. He played with Clapton and Jimmy paig back in the day...

One of the Queens of Country Rock! Emmylou Harris.

This is Cajun style music. South Louisiana.
Ronnie Crowell who went on to become a pretty big country star himself As a singer and writer. He also married Rosanne Cash
Its time for you to go down a Gram Parsons rabbit hole. He has some duets with MS Harris that are bangers.

Emmylou Harris music was on my Walkman cassette player. I didn't know Rodney Crowell was a backup singer her band.
On a UK show too.
