Here is a fun little exercise to see if you are getting the hang of the new rotations: Go through the ''Rules of Thumb'' and ''How to use...'' sections of the video a few more times after watching the whole thing. Then watch the ''No Commentary ST/AOE Rotations'' once again and look for minor mistakes. Comment them down below if you find some! (Have years of teaching physics paid off? Am I a good teacher now?) Enjoy!
Well Explained and detailed. i just started playing again from 13 years ago and i currently main a Frost Mage. Still getting there this video will definitely help out alot.
I was waiting for you to make this vid! You have the best and simplest way of explaining the rotations. I have been suffering since the frost rework, DPS has been cut in half because I get lost on what to do when mostly everything is on CD.
Cheers mate! Keep practising, even I struggle with executing the things I said in this video in an actual encounter. An advice I'd give beyond the scope of this video is to get a WA for tracking icicles. If you have 4, going flurry into glacial spike is a bit better than casting frost bolt into glacial spike then flurry.
Thanks for the video! Very informative! If you would take a suggestion, please explain your UI a bit before the rotations, idk where you track your icicles
It is currently in work! I will make an ULTIMATE GUIDE including most general and very specific things alike (with additional tips and tricks) so stay tuned

Thank U, Hope u could do a key explaing what u used 🙏🏼
Hey, nice guide! I'm a new frost mage and this helped a ton. You didn't mention a lot about Brain Freeze procs. Are these a consideration in the rotation? In general, is munching Brain Freeze or Finger of Frost normal for a frost mage?
Also Versatility is a more desirable stat now (not too much of it though). And the 447 hardmode trinket from the dawn of the infinites mega dungeons (Mirror of Fractured Tomorrows) *_seems_* to be S-tier in both ST & AoE! :D but more testing is needed (if i ever get it xD)
thank you for this super helpful guide, I learned a lot here. Question, in the AOE opener, why don't you start with Flurry before Blizzard/Frozen Orb so that you have the winter's chill. Doesn't blizzard or orb get boosted by winter's chill? I"m confused on that part. thanks! Also why do you do Icy veins after the blizzard and orb, and not at the start? thanks!
Hello, yes both of those abilities get boosted by winter's chill but only the specific target of flurry get the debuff, not all of the mobs in the pack so it's not worth it at the opener. The Haste buff from Icy veins is not helpful at the very beginning, if you sim yourself using raidbots, you'd see that the program also does it that way.
I am going to show my noobness right now. Are we switching between aoe build and st build during a raid? It doesn't look like there is a way to have ray of frost for st and coldest snap for aoe.
Nice guide but I’m missing something, inside aoe build for mythic+, what’s the actual single target rotation since you cant do the same rotation as ST talents :(
I didn't explain it there super clearly but the idea is the following. If you use ray of frost on the 2nd winter's chill you get the maximum benefit of the 2 fingers of frost (which are given by fully casting Ray of Frost) if you were to do it on the first's winter's chill one winter's chill and 1 fingers of frost would align causing a dps loss (very minor but it is what it is )
that's a rare situation but it happens, in that case, according to simulations it's more optimal to use glacial spike without winter's chill. It makes sense when you think about it because the more you hold the glacial spike the more icicles you potentially waste.
im trying my best to do this perfect , i managed 160kdps top end at 414Ilvl then after the opener it kinda dips to around 115k, is that ok for my ilvl or am i trash ? xD
Is this with the buffs and consumables? If not it's great! I do around 130k with no buffs for a 2 min ST fight at 445 Ilvl. You can use this website for simming your dps to see how much you would do in a perfectly ideal situation: www.raidbots.com/simbot/stats
@@AtillaPlays1643 no consumable or time warp yeah .. on the dummies I manage it but in mythic plus my damage is god awful, I normally play arcane when I try frost in dungeons I'm abysmal :L
@@AtillaPlays1643 Single target im only hitting about 60k , i ran the sim on a 5 target mob it says 190k but im not getting anywhere near that, more like 160k which then dips to 115 ish, cant figure out if its me or my ilvl
You really need a WA that tracks your icicles, so many wasted icicles -cause they no longer get auto launched after 5 icicles due to glacial spike being talented- . That's one of the mistakes I noticed in the single target rotation! Also I think you messed up the opener by not using comet storm, you used it in the second flurry combo. In the AoE rotation I believe glacial spike is priority over ice lance, of course after blizzard and the other AoE spells (comet storm and frozen orb). Blizzard is the highest on the priority list in AoE.
Open up your character tab and scroll over the mastery stat, it reads : ''Up to 5 icicles can be stored. Any excess Icicles gained will be automatically launched''.
@@htheg3387 ok it seems like any excess after 5 do get launched (even if you generate 1 with the hailstones talent via ice lance), but I guess it's a waste since glacial spike deals SO MUCH more damage. And apparently if you're at 4 icicles, it's better to just cast flurry followed by glacial spike without pre-casting a frost bolt beforehand!
They made it much harder than what it used to be, I gotta admit :/ 3 cast abilities just to do ST damage is a bit bad imo (but it's a very strong class in raids) so let's just say every rose comes with its own thorns.
So people really enjoy this kinda gameplay? I have never been told more by a video that i am a filthy casual, ill just press stuff that lights up thanks

It's pretty much the same rotation minus the Ray of Frost.
@@AtillaPlays1643 Okay, ty a lot!
how do you get your debuffs to show over the targets head?
It's from the nameplate addon I think, it's called Threat plates
i'm a bit confused, you talk about ray of frost during the video but you dont have it in your talent tree?
I have it in the ST talent tree, but it's not utilized in the AOE rotation so I don't take the talent in AOE Tree
I might have missed it but why do we only use Ray of frost on the second winters chill and not after we use flurry

What addon are you using to show your winters chill procs along with all the other's?
It's the Manather package provided in the description
Does anyone know if we can clear the mushrooms in underrot with the new talent of iceblock?
What's your thoughts on running subzero in m+? It just seems like a better talent for more AoE especially if paired with frostbite
my friend, subzero got nerfed 10% so we always opt out of frostbite/sub0 for aoe and take splintering cold/chainreaction
if you have no flurry charges but you have 5 icicles do you just spam frost bolt until a flurry proc?
that's a rare situation but it happens, in that case, according to simulations it's more optimal to use glacial spike without winter's chill. It makes sense when you think about it because the more you hold the glacial spike the more icicles you potentially waste.
With the mastery, any excess is sent automatically. It's better to hold GS until you can get winters chill on the target
Top Guide 😎

Open up your character tab and scroll over the mastery stat, it reads : ''Up to 5 icicles can be stored. Any excess Icicles gained will be automatically launched''.
Ohh actually I checked. Glacial spike prevents it from being launched along with icelance, it still goes off with other stuff, say frostbolt.
