Thanks for sharing this. Im looking to downsize my collection and the pointers are helpful. Shipping has been rough as it seems so expensive nowadays. And putting items on ebay seems to take weeks or months before I sometimes sell something. Local action figure facebook groups seemed like a dead end too. So it boils down to playing the long game I guess. Definitely going to check out pirateship though. Thanks!
For sure join some of the Facebook groups. My personal favorite is Marvel Legends Collectors & More. It's a pretty big group that has mainly Marvel Legends but also allows pretty much any kind of action figure. The admins are cool and the group is positive for the most part.
Fascinating topic. Although my venture into selling has been extremely limited, I have had pleasure working with ebay on transactions. So this discussion illuminated a lot of other topics I had no idea about (i.e. Paypal). When the time arrives for me to sell, I am definitely re-watch this video again.
Paypal is nice because you get to keep more of your money. I also like the interaction and knowing who the figures are going to. We've both made some good connections though the Facebook groups. There's always the occasional troll but for the most part it's a good group.
I would look for similar items sold on eBay. It might now be the exact poster but maybe other items. If you could join a Facebook group for that type of collectible either movie or comic memorabilia that might be the best or eBay is pretty good but there will be higher fees. It looks like after a quick eBay search it could be up to $800 but that was the highest I saw. It probably depends on the post but the certificate is going to help a lot.
After finishing the video I have a question, do you ever sell to stores? Like the specialty Toy stores that will give either cash or store credit. I have sold some Lego at a store that's similar called Bricks And Minifigs if you're unfamiliar. And a store near me called Rouge Toys does the same thing but with action figures. They completely cheated me out of what was market value so I wondered if you had any advice for trying to sell action figures to these kind of stores.
That would be an absolute last resort. Chances are you can make way more and still sell them for super cheap in the Facebook groups. In our experience and I think it's common, a local story is going to give you 25% of the value of your figures at best. Although I think our buddy Wes has traded in some of his Dimond Select statues for figures he wanted and it seemed like a decent transaction.
If I need to get rid of any action figures to replace them with new ones I’ll sell them for dirty cheap JUST to get rid of them. Hell I’ll sell them for $5 if I have too haha. Better than sitting in storage for a eternity . Recent example I sold Nighthawk for $7 once the new 2 pack was announced last week 😅
@@thestrongcollectors oh yea definitely a out of sight out of mind thing for me. If the figure is in storage for so long and I forget about it I basically gave it away for free so might as well make a few bucks . I never liked that old nighthawk figure but I do like the character, so seeing a new version announced I had to get rid of the old one haha
Ugh, the same thing happened to me. Amazon sent my 20th Anniversary Hulk in a bubble mailer and as everyone knows, he is on a card back. The corners were all bent and the cardboard was separating, it was so annoying. I open all my figures so it didn't bother me too much but I still wanted to keep the package because it looks nice.
Jordan once got a Batman statue from Walmart with no box, just a shipping sticker put on the Batman box, delivered by DoorDash. That has to be one of the more crazy shipping stories I've heard. Why would a company do that?
I'm outta room so I must move some stuff along to someone else and I hate taking less at local comic shops and I can't sell on ebay anymore so I hope you have some good ideas. Unfortunately I've had horrible luck with ebay scamming buyers trying to get stuff free or lying and saying wasn't as described and I replied with pics from my gmail and not through eBay messages so I had no proof i sent photos so i got screwed out of selling on ebay permanently but I was 100% honest and now looking at other options so i guess its either FB or comic shops for. I dont think Mercari is a good choice. I may try to set up a booth at the local flea market idk but it's a hassle selling stuff. I have tons of desireable in box and open but i save all boxes so idk which way to go but ebay isnt an option for me.
For sure join some Facebook groups. That's our number 1 way to sell. The community is good for the most part and you can get references on anyone you need to make sure they're a good seller or buyer.
Nice topic. I've been trying to sell my Marvel Legends collection, mostly MOC, but it has not been easy. Maybe it's the crisis and people are not buying that much. I want to sell at least for the price a paid for them. It has not been easy, specially the more recent figures.
Yeah recent stuff doesn't sell great normally because it's hard for us to beat Amazon/gamestop clearance sale prices. I just made a sales post yesterday and it was a little weaker than in weeks past. If you need any additional advice on selling your stuff let us know.
Yeah that's pretty much the best way to do it. See what the recents are and average them out. Doesn't have to be perfect. You can always go towards the higher side, then if they don't sell bring the price down a little.
thanks for the tips, and great video
You're welcome. We'll keep them coming.

Have a signed (Christopher Reeves) with certificate poster framed. How do I know the value and where is best place to sell

That is a good way to clear out the space quick and someone else will feel good about getting a good deal.

I sometimes get the last 3 or 4 sold on a thing and make my price an average of that.

The dude in the 7/11 shirt must be baked…
Order one and let us know what temp to bake at.
i sell my body to pay for action figures
Gotta do what ya gotta do
Papa won't sell his Action Figures! I have a year old Grandson!
We're not saying you HAVE to sell. But if you do hopefully this helps.
I know, I was just doing my take on the Montgomery Gentry song.
lol, went over my head.
