After 30 days the thing turns to dumb mode, Monthly subscription to change options like motion detection area, NO night vision. Records 1 min/30 sec so anything after that you are SOL and only keeps for 2.5 hours after it happens . And if you bought this from a non authorized dealer they will not warranty your equipment. Mine just went bad and I tried to get it warrantied and lord behold they wouldn't, 2 month of use and they don't even have an option to fix it.. All you get is Thank you for giving a kuna a try!!
I've been using the Kuna for over a year. It's been excellent in regards to them fixing the app. It was a mess in the beginning. I'm pretty happy with the service overall. Sure I wish I could store the videos locally instead of subscription, but it's cheap enough that I'm ok with it.
I had four and three stop working before three years. When they stop working your lights don't work too, that means you don't have cameras or light. I thinking of other ways. Don't want to spend all that money just for a two to three years worth of service.
Security cameras are more useful when they are in plain view, there are good looking video cameras that don't look bad, better quality and you can manage how you store your videos. I do like the voice and video feature.
They can be, but at the same time it also tells someone that there is one and all they have to do is simply obscure their face by wearing the hood on a hoodie up or simply just looking down and away from the camera. This happened to my in-laws, they had cameras set up and they still had their house broken in to, the crooks did what I just mentioned and they never got a good look at them. Another benefit from a hidden, or partially hidden camera is that it's also a good way to have a security but you live in place with a housing association and they won't allow you to install an external camera. Just install something like this and they're likely to be none the wiser.
They also neglected to point out 2 things in this revie 1) The Cloud storage is required for detection alerts. This is a BIG deal for many 2) The Installation with existing infrastructure is by far the BIGGEST selling point for this device. It replaces your porch light which means you use existing wires and don't need to run any new power. For the price you get to replace your old porch light with a smarter LED front light and the camera/intercom system.
If one can afford to pay hundreds of dollars for a Kuna or two why would $5.00 a month for cloud storage deter someone? If security was important to someone it's easy to cut back one coffee per month at Starbucks to make up for the $5.00, still be money ahead if things are that tight for someone. Maybe it's just me but I would think cloud storage would be more secure. If someone breaks into your house and smashes and grabs the hard drive your camera(s) records to then what's the point of the camera(s).
Because i PAID for it as a purchase and it should be MINE. All of it. I should not be having to pay MORE to use it. I did not 'rent' it. My hard drive would be in an 8 track player. Thief wouldnt even know what it is much less think its of any value.
Mine worked for 3 months, stopped working and the Maximus Kuna Customer service are useless. 2 weeks after 5 phone calls and they are still "escalating" my issue to engineers. It's going back to Costco.
I have had my 3 lights for about 2 years and I was worried about the 720p, but the cameras are still very clear. I also upgraded my internet speed, which made a big difference, and I keep the lens free of dust. My only problem is the spiders that build webs in front of the lens.
+Joseph Dawson Hi Joseph- All Kunas come standard with a 2-hour download and look back window, but on premium subscription plans, you can go back in time to access every single event that your Kuna captured for up to 30-days.
I agree the fact you HAVE to use the Kuna app is a pain. However I am noticing that is a real trend in many home automation companies and not a good one. I now own two and like them... They are always recording video so when they do see motion the video they save has about 15 seconds before the motion was detected so you get a really good view of what happened. This is something they do not promote but should.
+yabba do Hi Yabba- Kuna offers Full-color HD video for accurate recordings and playback, even at night. To check out what else we have to offer head over to www.getkuna.com/specs
If the light turns on to make it convenient for the intruder to see better, wont they realise someone turned it on and is home? I would want to be more ... subtle and watch them first with no glow night vision.
From the Kuna website.. Frequently Asked Questions What features come standard with my Kuna? Kuna Powered devices have advanced features like unlimited streaming video, two-way intercom, light scheduling, and smart alerts. You also have a 2-hour “lookback” window for captured events, as well as three downloads per month, all free of charge! Our optional premium subscription plans include additional benefits like lifetime theft protection, priority support, and a lookback window of up to 30 days. The subscription is not strictly "Required"
Bad concept you have to leave the light switch on for it to get power .If through muscle memory u flip switches tough luck if your kids don't remember tough luck your mom you see where I'm going with this they need to find a way for the camera to stay powered
Like the form factor, don't like the obligatory monthly fee. Also... Isn't the normal light switch for these lights gonna cause havoc? I can see it being shut off often by accident.
That's kind of what I'm wondering, mainly if the light can be turned on and off via a normal light switch or by app only. Also, will a light switch turn the camera off?
Buying a video system that your only choice for cloud storage is their's, that's pretty sketchy to me. First question I would ask is how long will it take for Law enforcement to retrieve the video, sure you can view it when they ask but good luck putting it in a format fashion there are policies against it, and can they by pass FCC regulations without red tape. The answers are up to a year and NO. Buy a system that stores the surveillance locally so when ever you want it it's there.....NEVER BUY A SYSTEM that makes you store to video any were but your own cloud or Personnel HDD. They make Home clouds up to 100TB's that you can store locally in your home in a secure area. Don't loose your freedom willfully for convenience, do your own research build your own security system that works for you and not for some zero pencil pusher in an office that could give two rips if you ever retrieve your video footage.
For someone who has the money to spend on this light fixture with a "hidden" camera along with a Phillips Hue bulb & a voice-changing app, this could help pull off a really great Halloween prank with its built-in alarm.
These Rouge Bstrds. are adjusting the sensitivity remotely no matter where you adjust the sensitivity the cameras always pick up motion at the same place. The reason is they do not have the server cloud space to allow each consumer a to record as they will. BUT DAM IT THEY SURE TOOK YOUR MONEY FOR THE SERVICE. I wish they were Shut sown dismantled and have all Consumer funds returned.
Kuna has a great idea and forsite with a weak out look on cameras...Why would you make such a beautiful piece of equipment with a inferior camera and motion devices?...The cameras are low quality and has no NIGHT! VISION DUGH this is 2018 KUNA! Looks like they could change out the cameras in the porch light set up and if so WHAT ARE YOU WAITING ON?
+Ryan Fahey because we use the MacBook primarily to take photos and record videos , unlike the surveillance camera in the video .. Right? I mean what were they thinking.
All camera systems are very good intentions. However, they do not deter a corrupted contractor and/ their kids & buddies from entering your residence. I have seen them slide a concrete block out, to get into your basement, I have heard & felt them beneathe my feet side through between the floor and subfloor which has the standard 12" height construction joist support beam, all both efforts by passing your alarm armed windows & doors. A small stay at home, home school child, or small male can easily slide through those spaces. I think it is a negative group of real estate partners in the area who have devised a new method of real estate pouching. Especially with Apartment buildings & condos, then branching out to homes in the area. Unfortunately, that is now the world we live in today. HIBBITS 762x54r Cameras are good if law enforcement will use the footage, & most dogs only bark and run and hide from intruders. These contractors drug dealer kids & buddies, used hydraulic Jack's to help them squeeze through flooring to get in, started noticing holes appearing out of nowhere beneathe carpeting, & hearing the ticking of the jack B4 I realized how they were continuously getting in. Starting flipping their vehicles with my auto parts, now have keys to the vehicles. Damage already done. I will post videos shown to officers of damages in near future, for awareness. Thanks for your concern & advise.
HIBBITS 762x54r They got all three floors, 1,2,& Attic. The dangers of living in a surburban townhome. I imagine they can get under a Crawlspace as well.
HIBBITS 762x54r Thank you, and best of luck to you as well. I have heard this is the same method some up coming real estate poucher/flippers & employees are using to stealing homes from other home owners. At least it is around here. I use to be a homeowner up until four yrs ago. Take Care.
Smith and Wesson or siig sour could help you end the treat that day....you'll just have to go threw months and months and thousands of hard earned dollars of court trials to prove you were rite.....Sad world we live in, in today's sissified society
After the four years of owning and closely and actively watching these cameras i can say they can be manipulated through software to effect the sensitivity and the activity to reduce server space by cutting down on the recording activity. NO MATTER WHERE TO OWNER SETS THE SENSITIVITY TO THEIR LIKING. This is a piece of shit company.
+Theodore Ng (Hollud) Thanks for asking! Kuna uses the light to provide full-color HD video at night, and the camera is designed with a visor to prevent washout.
+Edward Weagle Hi Edward- Great question, the Kuna camera has 116 degree diagonal field of view, also moving sideways up and down and another 40 degrees. Making it easy to spot unwanted visitors coming from possible sides of your home. You can position the camera manually. To check out more of the features we have to offer head over to www.getkuna.com/specs
Trash. Quit working after a year and Kuna's "customer service", aside from being nearly unintelligible, is almost nonexistent. Unwilling to help resolve our issues to get our camera working or replace it.

Wait, i pay 200 bones and i have to KEEP paying?! What a CROCK!!
You, don’t need to pay the subscription. You get 3 free downloads a mouth.
needs optional local storage and needs to be more compatible with Smart Hubs!!!

The point of the camera is a light so the light turns on when it detects motion.
It's not hidden. You can see the camera right at the bottom.
I know. I feel like without even looking for a camera, I'm definitely going to notice that thing.
7 years later since this video and I still don't see many products that would do the same thing, wow
I've been using the Kuna for over a year. It's been excellent in regards to them fixing the app. It was a mess in the beginning. I'm pretty happy with the service overall. Sure I wish I could store the videos locally instead of subscription, but it's cheap enough that I'm ok with it.

Why doesnt ring come out with a outdoor light with camera
That alarm is the worst thing I ever heard

Do you need a doorbell..I have sky bell on front porch..is this compatible skybell
This is actually really good and has pretty much no problems
I was interested until I found that you have to have a cloud.
720p is good, for 2010. 4k is whats expected today.
I have had my 3 lights for about 2 years and I was worried about the 720p, but the cameras are still very clear. I also upgraded my internet speed, which made a big difference, and I keep the lens free of dust. My only problem is the spiders that build webs in front of the lens.
The website says after the demo you get 2 hours of storage for FREE. So I think the story is wrong
.
It's just a look-back, so you only have a 2-hour window to review incidents for free as opposed to 30-days with $5/mo sub

Costco has this at $100 for this month

Turn your light switch on and put a piece of tape over it as a constant reminder that this switch stays on.

Technical information on this is very hard to find. Be suspicious of this product.
I got it it and its fine

No thanks, gizmos like this will be $25.00 or less, if you wait a few years with free surveillance with WiFi.

Nope Apple sucks
