Watch to the end for a special challenge!
Videos like these are extremely helpful especially when you aren’t able to have private lessons, or because when your with a band teacher in schools they usually play one instrument better than the others and sometimes can’t teach other instruments as well
Or, (as of my school) your band teacher pays attention to the other instruments more then flute, therefore you don’t get to learn as much
honestly though, got a new band director this year and i feel like i was more ready for high school band (next yr) last yr than i am this year because he hasn't taught the flutes anything at all
this helped me so much omg i've been playing for 7 years now and this made me sound so much better
Woooohoooo! Coolest comment! So glad it helped. 🎶🎶🎶👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I have tried the one of the 2 tips on your video that I struggled on a lot and now I sound better thank you so much
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼yay! That is wonderful to hear
Thank you Tatiana. Your videos are really encouraging, especially to adult flute rookies ;-)
Really good advice here....many thanks for upload.
This has been tremendously helpful. I have been learning, the low whistle. Half the battle is knowing how to play mindfully. Your tips for visualizing are spot on 🎉
Really good advice
I’ve really noticed a change in my tone after this!! Thank you!!
Thank you 😊👍👍👍
Those are nice tips! Thank you!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! 😄
Thanks!!
Even my sound is getting better my main problem is the throat. I do my best to practice your 1 tips. Thanks as always.
Pleasure and glad your sound is improving!!! There is nothing like it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I just had a concert so I didn’t bring my instrument home but I decided to practice this way 🙈 I’m excited to try these tips
Thank you so much this made my playing way better with almost no effort😅😊
Thank you very much
Thanks ❤❤❤
Great thanks !!!
You're welcome!
Thank you! Better than two years of private lessons I took with a reputable teacher years ago (I’m a sax player getting my flute double chops back in shape). I’ll definitely check out your boot camp and other video lessons on tone and technique. Thank you!
You are Wonderful!
Thank you so much! I haven't played in almost 15 years and you're helping me get myself back in shape!
Such a huge pleasure!
I play the flute since 3 years and this video helped me alot
Hows it going now?
I joined band, not because I’m truly interested in it, but because my sisters were in it and I want to kind of impress them. I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing or I got myself into. Should I quit? I kind of want to not quite because I want to challenge myself and play an instrument, I would play the piano but that’s out of my control.
Don't give up!! I wanted to give up but after a few days, I noticed I made a lot of practice!! STAY STRONG!!
Thank you thank you I'm picking up the flute after years of not playing and I need help with EVERYTHING so I'm going to check out your videos THx again
Wonderful!!!! Welcome back and enjoy getting back into this beautiful instrument!
This video is EXTREMELY helpful! I have shared these tips with my students grades 5-12 and have seen an immediate improvement!
Thank you! That just made my day 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks for this series! I couldn't help but noticing that you doN't have any chin or lip acne at all from playing flute. You are so lucky. Do you have any tips? Any advice would be so much appreciated as I'm struggling with this.
what are exercises there for louder and more quiet breathing tones during/ while jumping through different notes. in order to make flute sound professional rather than one boring tone with diff notes
Do you change your emboucher between a Rose-Rudall and Pratten style flute (Irish/Romantic/Baroque)?
Does good "support" mean like making sure you have fuller lungs when blowing?
Hey! Thanks for the tips! Do you have any tricks to stop salivating? I dunno if it’s common for any other flutists, but I’ll start to play fast or generally high octave notes and I start spitting which ruins the note completely.
I find that very often, the increase in saliva is connected to excessive tension. Or sounds like it may be the case, especially because it is happening in the high register and when playing fast as you probably get a bit more tense. Work on release your embouchure and see if that helps!
@@TheFlutePractice thanks, I’ll keep that in mind!
Happens to me wayyy too often, Ill be playing a solo or a harder part and ill need to breathe just to get it out of the way
Do u have any tips for buzzing lips? I always buzz my lips when playing the higher register like D5 and up…I’m learning flute and recently changed frm clarinet after 5.5 years.
Love your videos! I have one question that I cannot seem to find an answer to anywhere. Does a perma-frown affect one's embouchure? I have been playing flute for many years to a very high level. I've noticed that my tone has been diminishing ever since I noticed a perma-frown developing. Throughout my the years of my playing flute, I have never had issues with flexibility but now I am having a hard time playing in the 2nd octave (let alone the 3rd octave). I am able to play these registers after a long session of long tones and harmonics along with doing some weird facial contortions. I am assuming it is all related to my perma-frown. Any help is greatly appreciated! 😀
What is a perma frown? I’m in my late 50s and I’m Not quite sure. Maybe it is a problem also for me not I’m not aware of the cause. I’m having some tone issues also
I always enjoy your 'tups' 🤣

Hi, and thanks for this great helpful video! As for singing and playing, have you tried Ian Mullin's spin on this where he doesn't hum the same pitch, but "growls" his lowest possible one while playing our middle B on the staff. When you do it right you are producing a new distorted sound, and not any distinct note at all. The improvement effect on tone quality can be shocking.
Ooo! Will check this out. Sounds livery interesting!
@@TheFlutePractice awesome, haven’t found his tutorial on that recently but hopefully it’s still on UA-cam. He does a great demo of his method and it really is on another level regarding the humming exercise!
How fitting that there’s an anti vaping ad on the video😂
Can we talk about my new obsession, Ana de la Vega?
Wow I guess I already have pretty good tone as the tips simply don't help😂
Hey! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! But there is of course so much nuance and depth to the topic!
As a 12 year old flute prodigy this is all true!
@Olive lol I know right
Halo Tatiana, how are you, time ago I send you some cuestion about my fllute on facebook, can you read me please ?. Thanks for all and for your interesting videos..... Fer.
you have injury on the neck or shoulder , you lean to much to the left side - your left shoulder is in pain sometimes or right side of neck is in pain - cracks.
Is time to learn not to teach, not friendly at all learn to be friendly how ever what you is really good you really no about really good advice
Please Help me to have flute. I want to become a professional flutist but my flute is a chip one. I wish someone here can donate for me.
get a muramatsu or gemeinhardt!
Terrible player hurt my ears
if SHES bad what am i? 😭
@@rose-id3xh nojoking
As s beginner, this did not help at all.
I’m sorry to hear that! But yes, you first need to establish your tone and get the sound settled.
@@TheFlutePractice As a tuba player trying to learn the flute, getting sound settled is a lot harder.
very bad tips ... and specially from someone injured
I just watched about 10seconds of one of your videos and I can tell that breath support needs work. Maybe you should actually watch her videos for tips and not to leave ridiculous comments that you can’t back up by your playing.
No amount of calling this woman a “crazy bich” will make you sound better. Do better. It’s embarrassing
