Seeing this car brings back so many memories. Though mine was a '96, it was white but instead of an automatic it was a five-speed manual. The only time that car left me stranded in eight years of owning it was when the battery went bad and the ignition switch needed to be replaced. This is all! Those are incredibly minor things. When I got rid of it an external seal that led to the passenger side had gone bad, and every time it would rain water would start seeping in and collecting in the passenger side floorboard. Now this is with 186k miles, and when this started happening it was already twenty years old. Even though those things happened to it, I would still buy a car like that today. It's a fantastic car.
I dont give a crap what anybody says. These 4 banger Honda's are the best 4 bangers ever made. You change the fluids, and this car will run forever. I sit at a light, and it feels like my car is turned off. That's how smooth the idle is.
I have the exact same car, but mine is black. I got mine in 2012 with 156,000 miles on it and paid 800 bucks. Today I have 200,000 miles on it and it still runs strong. I did replace the starter, distributor, and alternator with Honda OEM parts. FYI, if you ever replace the distributor it cost 899 dollars from Honda. Thats what I paid. I have had a lot of different cars one of them was a brand new 2008 charger, which was a pile of crap. Starting falling apart within 6 months. My Honda Civic is the best car I've ever owned...hands down.
@@make_and_remake Yeah, Dodge in general is garbage. I will never forgot owning that Charger I had. Within 6 months it started falling apart. The shifter wouldn't shift all 4 of the o2 sensors went bad. Check engine light was always coming on. It was running weird and finally I said I'm done, and I got rid of it. Up til today the only thing I got done was the timing belt and water pump stuff. That ran me 1600 at the dealership. That was something that needed to get done. All of the other parts i replaced, I didn't have to replace and they were still working fine. The only reason I replaced them is because of COVID. Don't know how this Covid thing is gonna turn out. I had a little money saved and I said I'm gonna start getting brand new Honda parts to make sure my car doesnt break down. The starter, distributor, and alternator ran me over 2k total. I installed all 3 because it was real easy to swap out. I replaced some sensors and I replaced all the coolant hoses.
I have to say, I would EASILY buy that car for $3000! Whoever picks this up has got a GREAT find! My 1997 Honda Civic is pushing 350,000 miles (I make videos every 25k miles since it was brand new, and posted several of them on youtube). These cars run so well (I can't speak for the automatic transmission, as I have a stick shift), sip gas (I get about 40 miles per gallon), and parts are relatively inexpensive (I just did my most expensive repair ever as I had a bearing start making noise in the transmission. I had them do all the bearings and the clutch). Definitely would buy this car if I was in the market
I bought one ex sedan Iced Teal Pearl in March 2021 with 115k all stock, w/ 1 owner for 2k in California and its really fun driving it, it's my first Civic and not my last will be swapping the engine when the time comes meanwhile I drive it like a grandpa, I plan on keeping it till I'm old
I 100% will! Love it and started to get into old Japanese tuner cars. I can't drive manual, but I'm in love with the Mitsubishi EVO Lancer VII, Eclipse, 3000, Acura Integra 1997, Nissan GTR 34, Toyota Supra, Honda Civic EX/SI 1998-1999 (Hatchback or Type R), and a few more I believe.
I got the 00' LX for me and its an awesome car, sadly here in Brazil all cars are hard to buy and maintain, for example the Civic costs 18.000 R$ (3.200$ ~) but imagine yourself paying 18k$ for a car that is more than 20 years old, its crazy.. If in the near future I move to canada I will be definitely buying one, also nice and funny review!
I got 175k on mine... Car is a fuckin mule... Had every car brand in the book, and this car is by far the most reliable I have ever driven.. got a c6 Vette that has more problems than the civic ever had
I have that same car exactly, it has 196k on it now, I bought it with 137k miles for 5k from a dealer , what a wonderful car. Change the left drive axel, fixed a exhaust leak ,and replaced a break line . What an incredible car I still drive it to work .original head light lenses .
5k smh that’s robbery 👀 I wouldn’t pay no more than 1.5k I don’t see how you can sleep at night spending that much for a stock Honda Civic you could have invested that into that into a customizations or found a older Lexus or Toyota
sure would buy for $1500 regardless of the cost even $500 because those cars have potential and are reliable and affordable especially when it comes to gas saving and great value engine from japan last years as long as you keep up with the maintenance services 👍

I had an Acura legend 1989 n it ran like a champ with 273k miles….That car ran so damn good….Acura/Honda got my respect….I’ve had a few Hondas after that n not I’m in a house full of Hondas

You are correct -Honda 4 cylinders are incredibly reliable and have stood the test of time without a doubt.

I had a 2007 Dodge Magnum and it was a heap of junk, too. I highly doubt that car is still running today. Yet, this little '99 Civic ran like a champ.
